The lovely waitress sat with a customer who couldn't decide what to order! So sweet!!

Simple basic breakfast food and a quaint atmosphere. But the absolute charming and caring and comical waitress is worth a visit! If we are ever back in this area, we will stop in. She made our day!

Have eaten here in the past. The food is good and portions are large. The service was a degree better than rude. Had to get up and ask for coffee refills. It was moderately busy - tables full, but no line. First impression, cute place. But after picking up the disposable pepper shaker, I realized it was gross, salt shaker too, likely had never been wiped down. I lost my appetite and started scrutinizing the place. Windows in desperate need of cleaning, including the ice cream case. Cobwebs in corners. Light fixture in door way between the 2 doors was missing the dome and most of the fiberglass. One chunk of fiberglass hung from the light. I didn't use the restroom. I will not go there again. .

There was a good wait for a table, restaurant was packed. We put our name down and waited outside for our turn. It was raining. The veggies omelet was fantastic. There was a server filling our coffee cups often, helped us pass time as our order took a while, as expected, in this small town with limited staff. I think they are doing their best to manage COVID-19 spread in their restaurant given how tiny the space was. Staff was wearing masks, not. Ugh Ventilation. The only place open the day after labor day. Staff was friendly, tried their best to keep up. Highly recommended if you are in the area.

Love this place. Glad it's stuck around.

Great little place to stop for breakfast. This is our second time here while visiting St. Ignace. Small town feel with lots of local patrons. Cool original diner decor... black & white checkered floor... red seats... bar stools... very fun & nostalgic. Food is nothing fancy, but perfect egg/meat/potatoes or pancakes to start our day. Food was served quickly and we had great service. Thanks, we'll be back!

Having fresh coffee. Its with free refills. Ate veggies skillet and come with their home fries which are baked wedge potatoes

Quaint, retro, and a delicious addition to our morning. Tell Lynn I sent you and enjoy the view. Fun place out of the norm. Reminds me of a 5o's soda fountain.

Not really fond of this place. Not sure how it had a 4 star rating. Food was alright but that's about it. Service was extremely slow; had to ask for refills of coffee twice. Waitress not that friendly. Breakfast took over 35 minutes to get.

A little family owned restaurant that serves wonderful comfort food. Hubby and I tried their pasties with gravy and we absolutely love it. Although,I would prefer a crispier crust for the bread, the chicken gravy made it tastier. They also have several choices of ice cream/shake including fudge. We will definitely go back to try their other meals.

The drive up location had open spots so we took one and man we were happy. The waitress comes right to your window and takes your order, brings your food and takes your money. Cash only, but I was good with that. The waitress was very friendly, attentive and busy! She and one other were constantly going in and out taking orders, bringing food and working. The food....OMG! Go hungry if you decide to tackle their 1/2 to 3/4 lb burger. I thought I was hungry until that 1/2 lb burger came. So heavy, but soooo good. If you want a good old fashioned burger, this is it! No wonder they have a legacy and long wait time. Ours was 20 minutes this time. We had stopped another time and went in and found out it was over an hour. We passed then because of time constraints but nothing was holding us back this time. If you have passed this iconic place in the past and not stopped, you're missing out. They have other things on the menu besides burgers, so you should be able to accommodate most people in your group. So good!

But it turns out that you…read moreshouldn't judge a restaurant by its name, because Chuckwagon served us what was probably the best meal we had on Mackinac Island. And it was the cheapest, too! Blessed from all directions. A patty melt was on the menu, so that's what I got. I can't not get a patty melt if I see one on a menu! This one was beefy and melty, with caramelized red onions between two slices of rye bread. All of the burgers and sandwiches come with plain potato chips and a pickle spear. We also got a regular cheeseburger and bleu cheese burger. All of the burgers are served on a pretzel bun, which is not my favorite type of bun, but I wasn't eating those burgers, and the eaters didn't seem to mind. Chuckwagon has a small kids' menu (the Lil' Buckaroo's Menu), with four items on it. Your kids can choose from a pb & j sandwich, a hot dog, a grilled cheese sandwich and mac & cheese. My little buckaroo chose the mac & cheese, which I believe was Kraft mac & cheese. Kids' menu items don't come with anything additional. This is a small restaurant with limited seating. You can sit at the counter and watch the action happen, or if you're lucky, you can find one of the few tables lining the wall or located in the back of the restaurant. Either way, depending on when you visit, you might encounter a crowd! But I think it's worth it to visit this old-school diner-type restaurant.

We didn't have reservations, so picked up a buzzer from the hostess and joined the crowd waiting in the gift shop or lounging around at the entrance. Our wait was about a half hour, and we were seated in a rear dining room that should receive a Gold Medal for Eclectic Design. Our table was covered in laminated Detroit Tiger baseball cards, and the walls were plastered with beer company paraphernalia and Detroit sports memorabilia. Our server Aimy brought our meal -a Cheeseburger Platter ($11.99), and for me a cup of Clam Chowder ($4.49) and Shrimp Steamers ($14.99). My meal was excellent, the chowder was served piping hot and was loaded with chopped clams and potatoes. And man, oh man, were the shrimps great. They were a half pound served shell-on "Caribbean style" with lemon and cocktail sauce. Yes, they were messy to eat but were so worth the mess. Aimy helped me out with a few wet naps. We had an excellent experience here.

We ordered the tasting menu with wine pairings to celebrate our anniversary. The service was excellent and the food was good, but it felt a bit like someone was trying to replicate "fine dining" without actually being fine dining. From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable--Lawrence, our server, was wonderfully attentive and made us feel so welcomed. We started with the brioche pull-apart bread and jumbo shrimp cocktail--both fresh and flavorful. The beetroot salad was an absolute standout--beautifully balanced and bursting with flavor. For entrees, I had the local lake trout, which was perfectly cooked and delicately seasoned. My husband declared the baked cod the best he's ever had, and my son devoured his chicken fricassée. Just when we thought it couldn't get any better, dessert arrived. The warm apple strudel and the Grand Pecan Ball were both over the top--a sweet, satisfying end to an exceptional meal. Take your time, relax, and savor every bite. The Woods is without a doubt a must-have dinner spot when visiting Mackinac Island.
