Popped in to have a quick dinner before a nearby concert show and sat on the outside patio to people watch. There are tons of seats available both inside and outside. Service was good. Pricing was on par for the area. I wasnt drinking but decided to have a ginger shot instead. It definitely did its job bc it was strong! I ordered the chicken empanada and viet wings for my meal. All were delish! This will be my pre-game spot from now on when im in the area for another concert!

Hands down one of the best cafe concepts I have EVER come across. Their Rockville location is my favorite but I was stunned by the silver spring location. Beautiful ambiance. Amazing and super nice and helpful staff. They did a great job hiring that team. I was blown away by management, the team at the bar and the servers on the floor. The food was incredible! This place will go far.

Ended up passing this place as we were going to another restaurant and when we found out that one was closed, we circled back. Came on Labor Day in the evening and it wasn't really busy but there in indoor and outdoor seating and some of the outdoor seating does have umbrellas. I had the lobster roll and the taste of Peru drink and I enjoyed it. This lobster roll is done with mayo but still gives off a fresh flavor and it comes with fried. It was $22. My friend that the shawarma and the Margot's flight and she enjoyed that as well. Johnathan the manager was very nice and entertaining and the other employees were very pleasant as well.

This is my second time here and I really love this new venue in downtown Silver Spring. I have been to the Rockville location and this one has a slightly more chic vibe. The food is always tasty. For this visit, I had a seasonal latte and the poutine fries. They were both very delicious. I will definitely come back here and also take advantage of the patio that I saw they have available now. There is also the casual garb & go coffee shop next-door that I would love to try earlier in the day.

Perfect brunch spot! The food was so tasty and so quick! Lots of gluten free and vegetarian options available as well. We went on a Sunday AM and it was packed and loud. Highly recommend a reservation if you're going to go for brunch. The service was, well, meh, to be honest. A couple items were forgotten - coffee refills were virtually non existent, and we had to ask for our check so we could leave. That said, I'd def be back for the food! I had the avocado toast on gluten free bread. It was so tasty!

This place is spotless and well-organized! They have a takeout section along with a spacious dine-in area that offers both indoor and outdoor seating. I stopped by around 10:00 AM and grabbed a seat at the bar. I was greeted right away and placed my order quickly since I already knew what I wanted--except for the drink . The bartender was super helpful and gave me honest feedback when I asked about the matcha and another option. The service was excellent--friendly, attentive, and very accommodating!

I have been meaning to try them out for a while and our air conditioning broke so prime chance for a weekday brunch and work session lol The good: 1) the location is convenient. Right off of the silver Spring metro station, there is a Montgomery County garage right next door that does offer all day parking. 2) the space is beautifully decorated with warm woods and lots of greenery- even the BATHROOM is a vibe; 3) the service- I was greeted immediately, sat quickly and the server was prompt, friendly but didn't hover. I had work and calls and was able to get to em done. 4) the menu is pretty broad. I figure there is something for almost any type of eater there (I didn't check for and don't have allergies neither am I a vegan, so take this with a grain of salt) and 5) my iced coffee- cardamom and rose- was a standout. 4/5 The meh- honestly, I asked what the best thing on the brunch menu was and I was recommended a geuyere leek quiche which sounded AMAAAAZING and it DEFINITELY had the potential to be but it was slightly cold and when I asked do it to be warmed it came back clearly microwaved (which makes sense) but the crust was overcooked and soggy and then the middle was cold again 30 seconds later even though, to their credit it WAS hot at first. The flavor was there and honestly I'd try it again, but it was a little salty- Gruyère is a saltier cheese- so that's something. The salad dressing was SO Good but there was SO MUCH OF IT. 2/5 Overall 3.5/5 I rounded up for the service. If go again but I think the food is standard dinerish fare and they might benefit from a smaller more focused menu with only their best dishes.

Review solely of takeout coffee value, the worst I've seen. 6oz regular size for a hot beverage (both regular and large have two shots). I got a cappuccino ($5) with soy ($1 extra). Then a credit card fee was applied to the transaction ($.19). After tax and tip this is easily the most expensive drink around. The espresso itself was good enough but the milk was more like a latte. Barista was nice, cups are cute, and they have a ton of beverage choices but it's unlikely I'll spend my coffee money here again.

What a beautiful and delicious brunch/breakfast spot in downtown Silver Spring! First, the latte was perfection - flavorful, without being bitter or too sweet. I opted for the crab cake benedict and they were YUM. My eggs were slightly overcooked, so they didn't have the fun egg flow from the yolks - but that didn't detract from how delicious it was, flavor-wise. Both my coworkers also enjoyed their croissants, and an open-faced sandwich. My one coworker and I also split a kid's pancakes order. Service was quick and attentive - without feeling rushed - and it was overall just a great brunch experience!

Margarita Flight - drinks are the size of salt & pepper shakers. Not worth $24.

I recently visited Java Nation for brunch with a friend. They were surprisingly packed at 11:00 am. Aesthetics-wise, the restaurant beautiful, modern, nicely decorated and very clean. The table/seats were less than optimal. It was such a tight fit that we had to get up for people at a nearby table to use the restroom. The waitress could barely get through as well. Their flight, in my opinion, is not worth $24. The drinks are basically mixed shots on ice (size-wise). My server kindly let me switch it out for a single cocktail. The burger & fries were tasty but you do have to pay $4 more for the fries. Overall will likely return and avoid the drinks flight.

Yelp doesn't differentiate the operating hours between the café (Java Express) and their full restaurant (Java Restobar) next door. I posted the hours in the photo section. I stopped in after 5pm to get dessert to go. The cafe was closed, but I picked it up from the bar. The restaurant is really classy. Much nicer (and more expensive) than their Kensington location. There is some construction going on across the street so when I went, it was dark out and I had to loop around to make my way back to the parking garage and there are actually two of them. One is directly across from the restaurant, but I parked in the other one, not realizing the other one was there. You pay by license plate, with one hour being the minimum you can book. It's $1.00/hr. I miss the days when the coin meters were here. I could have just put a quarter in, and be back in a flash. My tiramisu was elegant and delicious. Should be for $9.00. It was a special treat after a long month of testing students at school. The menu looked enticing so I do plan to come back and try the mushroom ravioli if it's not an occasional item on the menu.

Arrived here for dinner, and seated within a few minutes. We ordered the strawberry nojito which was strong & had lil kick to it but good nonetheless. Had the blackened shrimp tacos cooked to absolute perfection-juicy and delicious. The deconstructed affogato was great. Raspberry pistachio cake was divine-the flavors blended beautifully. Our server Christian was awesome!!! The space was gorgeous & the staff was just amazing. Everyone was willing to help and super attentive,they made us feel absolutely welcome. We were absolutely happy to dine here!!! Rest room was clean

It's my second time dining at Java nation. My bartender/server TJ provided guidance regarding all my food and beverage selections. He was great and provided exceptional customer service. When I'm there, I always drink and eat a little bit of everything! I always enjoy the ambience, food and cocktails. Last time I was there, they had a great guitar/singer that was phenomenal. Based on my first visit earlier this month, I look forward to my next visit to Java Nation. I had a chai latte, a delicious guava-and-cheese pastry, and some tasty quiche (though the slice was on the smaller side). The atmosphere was bright, clean, cheerful, and holiday festive. The server, Alison, was terrific! She was attentive, genuine, charming, and offered helpful menu recommendations. In the restaurant/hospitality industry, service matters. Alison made sure we felt welcome, cared for, and accomplished her job in an efficient and unobtrusive way. My French toast was crispy with just the right amount of sweet with Nutella drizzled on it. The chai latte made with almond milk was on the sweeter side but they were very amenable to my need for decreasing the sweetness and brought me both hot almond milk and hot water. I really enjoy Java nation. Especially their desserts! my boyfriend and I always enjoy a dessert while dining and sneak over to the cafe to grab desserts to take home. The food is always good and I've had great experiences the 3 times I've been. I have done brunch, lunch, and happy hour here. I will admit the prices are 100% affordable BUT the portions are on the lighter side. I ALWAYS finish my food when i go. 95% of the time i usually have left overs. read more

I am writing this review as I sit on the front patio area going on 4 hrs being here. What an absolutely beautiful spot, and I cannot speak highly enough about Java Nation in Silver Spring! I had searched for a coffee shop to kill time. Found Java Nation. It is not just a coffee shop by any means. Appetizers, entrees, desserts, coffee, wine, beer, cocktails... Upon arriving, the hostess, Laniyah, greeted me. She saw I had my laptop with me to work and asked if I would like a spot with an outlet. They even had an area out on the patio for me to set up, so I chose to be outside, as the weather is gorgeous. Of course, even sitting inside would have been wonderful - with the open rolling garage-style door and the large windows. My first server was Tim, who had to later go tend the bar. He made some fantastic recommendations. Nelson, who took over, was great, very attentive and kind. Laniyah was constantly coming and checking on guests throughout the evening. I ordered a beer flight. The draft beer options were slightly limited; however, I found 4 to make a flight. My favorite was the Orange Hefeweizen. Second favorite was the Witness Tree. First, I had the mushroom ravioli with spinach appetizer. All the ingredients were fresh. I don't think I've had such a creamy sauce or filling for ravioli before. Next, I had the blackened shrimp tacos on corn tortillas, also an appetizer, based on Tim's recommendation between those and the ribeye steak tacos. I'm not one for shrimp normally, but these were fantastic. Again, everything was fresh and cooked and seasoned perfectly. Every dessert sounded delicious, and even better, they are homemade in small batches. I finished the night with tres leches... I'm so happy with my decision. Each bite of the tres leches was decadent and flavorful. My water glass was never empty. The small table lamps on each table provide a lovely glow as the sun starts to set. While here, Dave Weber and his singing partner, Sonya, serenaded us with tunes. They were wonderful, and I highly recommend them as well. The bathrooms were clean, and I was impressed with the decor inside. Makes you feel like you're in a forest. read more

Having been to other Java nation locations, I prefer the style of those more. This one is sit down and if you want coffee, the only option is the small market next door that doesn't have seating. I had a carne asada arepa. The beef was really tough but it had good flavors. The service was slow, but we did go on a busy Saturday. The pastries came out cold and the drinks came way after our food. The matcha latte barely had any matcha. Overall it was okay, slightly disappointing. read more

Went here for brunch in the middle of the week, there was some weirdness going on where there was an issue of getting a table cleaned for me to sit at. The hostess thought it wasn't clean, the bus boy said it was. Then my server took awhile to get my order because his manager wanted to talk to him. Then it took awhile to get me my cappuccino, mostly because the server who brought me the drink called it the wrong drink so I did not think it was mine. However my meal was great. I had a ham and cheese omelet and it was fantastic. I wasn't expecting what tasted like honey ham but it was a welcome surprise. Overall my experience was awkward but I think it was just the a bunch of weird things happening at once and do not believe this is the norm there. Everyone was apologetic and seemingly sincere. Maybe better management is needed but the staff is very good at their job. I am excited to go back soon. read more

This is a great addition to the area! I've been for lunch a few times and most recently for Sunday brunch. Every time I've had great service and the food has been delicious, fresh, and filling. I've tried soup, salad, pastries, a sandwich, arepa, coffee, and cocktails - all of it really tasty. They make a mean espresso martini, and I tried a great pisco cocktail too. The space is great! On the side street, there's a coffee counter with grab and go food. The main entrance is on the corner of Wayne Ave. the space is light and airy with a full bar, comfy seating, outdoor space, and a garage door that should be open in nice weather. I'm looking forward to coming back to check it out for happy hour. If you sign up for the rewards program, make sure to ask your server for the points BEFORE they bring your check. From what I can tell, it looks like you can accrue points for rewards pretty quickly. read more

We came here for dessert because I ordered their crepes on Uber eats one day, and they were delicious. I just had to get my friend to try them too! The wait time wasn't too long, and the crepes were delicious. The Nutella drizzle was perfect, and the bananas tasted good, too. They have other desserts that I would be interested in trying in the future, but I have to say I highly recommend coming in and asking for their crepes. FYI: Their crepes aren't on their dessert menu. You have to ask for them if you want them. read more

The environment and vibes here were spectacular! Today there was a stellar band (KICKK) performing live! The service was great and the drinks (a Beer Jailbreak, and some Cocktails like Touch of Peru and the Sangria Roja) were a nice touch! There was also food (Buffalo Chicken Flatbread, Salmon Burger & Fries to name a few) being served while you enjoyed the music. Came here for lunch with a large group the other day and was excited to try the offerings. We really liked the ambiance and the service was very good. Most people got the burger, I had the chicken shawarma, and there were a few other things as well. Overall, most people said the food was fine or average. Mine was rather bland, which was a shame. My lox and bagel was pretty good. I did ask for light cream cheese but it looked like it was more than a little. The server was nice. I absolutely love Java Nation! This place really has everything I enjoy all in one. The delicious food, lattes & coffees. The ambience is also very aesthetically pleasing. It instantly feels like a place you want to spend hours in. For me, Java nation has become my go to spot. Whether I'm hanging out with friends or just enjoying sometime alone. It's a kind of restaurant that you can honestly spend the whole day. I sit with my laptop doing assignments, or get work done. I just keep ordering all the different things off the menu while I'm there. What I love most is how easy it is to focus in this environment. read more

Just a quick note: the main store front, that faces Wayne Avenue is the full service sit-down restaurant, if you put in an order to go or just want to grab a cup of coffee before going to work, you have to go around the corner to their cafe. It's brand shiny new and I don't think a lot of people realize it's open to the public now so both the restaurant and cafe were pretty quiet. I stopped by the cafe and grabbed a lavender honey latte and breakfast burrito. The latte - pretty good. The burrito - below average. But I'm willing to to try out more of their menu before drawing a firm conclusion. Service was polite and efficient, ambiance was bright and cheery imo. Very nice interior and ambiance. We waited a couple minutes for a table around 10am on a Saturday. Service was great. We got the mixed berry compote crepe to share. It was good and not overly sweet. The crepe itself was pretty crispy, which my husband liked (although I would have liked if it were a little softer/chewier). I got a side of fries, which were light, crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside - excellent! My husband got the house blend pour over coffee and rates it 5/5. My shrimp tacos were okay - the tortilla was a little crispier than I prefer, the shrimp itself was good, and the flavors/toppings were fine. I tried a bite of my sister's beef empanada and liked it. Overall, we had a good experience. Extra points for good service and ambiance. Food was clean and not overly salty or greasy. Java Nation is a nice addition to the DTSS neighborhood. read more

This place is great for a quick lunch or coffee when I'm nearby. Their worst problem is that the music is always wayyyyy too loud for daytime. I've been to this Java Nation location several times and have had a lovely experience each time. I've done solo dates to telework and also brought my family to enjoy a beautiful Sunday lunch. We stopped by for Brunch on the weekend. From the outside it doesn't look like much but it is beautiful on the inside and very comfy. Service was great and our waiter was very attentive. The latte had great attention to detail and amazing taste. We got the Benedict and the French toast with Nutella along with the truffle fries. Nothing was overwhelmingly sweet and we did not feel bloated afterward, great sized portions. The fries were crispy the truffle taste came through. All in all a definite 5/5. read more

Very nice dish. They have a serve-yourself water station and, though they bring out your order to your table, you must go get your cutlery and napkins. They have a nice number of tables for a small place and we were lucky to snag one. Overall, a really nice experience and I plan to go back with my husband next time.

The avocado toast topped with a perfectly poached egg topped with Japanese black sesame seeds is my go-to order, and the sandwiches are consistently good. Their cocktails are excellent, and the bar side makes a great venue for private parties or larger gatherings. I am apparently in the miniscule minority, but I find the drip coffee a bit too dark and somehow slightly burnt for my taste. Fortunately, they make an outstanding Dirty London Fog and a wonderful London Fog Chai Latte, either of which I'd happily order instead. All manner of alternative "milks" are available as are a pretty decent selection of local beers in their cooler if you are grabbing take out. Be prepared for a wait on weekends--this is one of Takoma Park's most popular brunch destinations. Like many cafés these days, it's a favorite of laptop-wielding remote workers, so tables can be at a premium. In my experience, though, solo diners are often gracious about moving to the communal table when they notice [or more likely are asked polietly if they wouldn't mind moving] a larger group waiting. It's just one more example of the friendly neighborhood atmosphere that keeps people coming back.

The Chicken tenders weren't tender and the coating was over-salted. The full rack of BBQ Pork ribs was a winner, tender and meaty with great flavor. The Slow-smoked Chicken is delicious and a nice, moist change from the usual chicken treatments. The Smoked Chicken Wings were great too. I wouldn't get the Texas Beef Brisket or the Carolina Pulled Pork again, but they weren't bad, just lots of other choices that were better! The sides here are stand-outs too. I almost didn't get the vegetarian Collard Greens since I love collards cooked with meat but these were delicious -- they never made it to the microwave, they were so vinegary-good when I sampled them cold lol! The Mac & Cheese was good and cheesy. The baked beans were good but again vegetarian where I'd prefer meat included and I didn't care for the sweet sauce. The Skillet Cornbread is the best I've had, slightly sweet with a good corn flavor that made me decide to buy a WHOLE skillet rather than just the generously portioned slice next time, especially since it's such a good value. I do regret not trying the coleslaw and potato salad so again, next time. The little rolls are tasty too, moist and slightly sweet but it's a pity they aren't burger-size so you can make a sandwich with all that delicious meat and sides.

The brisket was tough and not flavorful. I really wanted to love this place, but in the end, it wasn't worth it. Still on the quest.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Java Nation, and it was an experience worth sharing! I ordered the Crab Cakes Eggs Benedict, which was absolutely delicious. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the crab cakes were fresh and flavorful. The standout, however, was the fresh bread that accompanied my meal--it was simply incredible. My husband opted for the Avocado Toast, and he thoroughly enjoyed it, appreciating the fresh ingredients and flavorful toppings. The coffee was excellent, providing the perfect complement to our breakfast. Aside from the food, the decor at Java Nation is charming and welcoming, creating a cozy and pleasant atmosphere. The service was also top-notch; the staff was attentive, friendly, and efficient, making our visit all the more enjoyable. Just went to brunch at Java Nation for the first time. I was looking forward to a nice birthday brunch with my family. The food was wonderful, nicely presented, and the coffee was delicious. The wait staff went out of their way to make sure we were well cared for- even addressing if we had any food allergies. Christian was one of our waiters who took our dessert order, and because it was my birthday, I was given a piece of tiramisu with a lit sparkler on it, while the waitstaff sang "Happy Birthday." I was told that there is live music there sometimes. It would be fun to go back when that happens. I look forward to another meal there! Footnote: It can be noisy there if crowded, as the acoustics are not good. But I got used to the noise, and I still give it an excellent review. read more

I absolutely love Java Nation! It's my go-to spot for cocktails, coffee, and food--all of which look as good as it tastes. The atmosphere is definitely more elevated yet welcoming. Plus, the staff is amazing! They're friendly, attentive, and always willing to recommend something if you're undecided - like me. Overall, Java Nation is a perfect place to visit anytime of day. Their coffee is so underrated!! They roast their own coffee!! I can't recommend it enough! read more

I recently dined at Java Nation and had an exceptional experience. Our waiter, Patricio, was phenomenal--attentive, friendly, and truly went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. The food was absolutely delicious, and every dish was prepared to perfection. The highlight of the meal was the dessert, which was simply amazing. Awesome concept! I've only seen this high end style restaurant with market in New York before. The outdoor patio is large plus they have courtyard that make it seem very cute although a bit windy. We went for dinner with music, for app and mains Short Rib and Linguine, very healthy and filling. Presentation was good too. Service was on point. read more

Food, service and overall atmosphere was wonderful. Went on thanksgiving morning and was served by Ben and Tim. Both were very friendly and had great suggestions on drinks and food.
