Love their Jaws Topokki Soup (Half Regular) served piping hot and regular is on the hot spicy but still delicious and the rice cakes were perfect. I always get their Gimbap Katsu tho does take longer because it's fried. I think I pair it with unfried Gimbap next time because the topokki soup is already very hot and the wait won't be so long

This was quiet literally the worst bulgogi i've ever had. The meat lacked any type of flavor, tasted dry, and they had no sauces that I could use to aid in fixing the flavor. The girl that took my order was sooo sweet though, shoutout to her she gave me some siracha sauce. The food came out super quick. I'm sure the other food here might be better but this was terrible. Do not get the bulgogi.

One of our usual stops in H-MART is this JAWS EXPRESS, located inside the H-Mart food court. We always get the same food here, the 3 of us my wife, me and my son we have our favorites here. My son really likes their GIMBAP and my wife likes their ROSE TOPOKKI and mine is always their ASSORTED FISH CAKE SOUP. There are so many Gimbap selections here, we already tried each one on their Menu, the Bulgogi Gimbap is our favorite. Their Assorted Fish Cake soup is lightly seasoned with a good variety of fish cakes. My wife always had the ROSE TOPOKKI SOUP here, it tasted good as my wife claims but when I tried the Rose toppokki soup, immediately I told my wife that it's not for me, because its way too spicy for me. We always enjoyed the food here, always nothing left on our plate or bowl. Staff are friendly, and plenty of parking spaces.

Delicious kimbap and spicy rice cakes! Loved that they offered half size portions of the regular rice cakes and found it to be the perfect size when splitting other options from the food court

Our favorite place at the H Mart food court. The gimbaps are tasteful. My go to are the bulgogi and tofu. I wish they would provide side of sauces for free. Their spicy mayo is okay. We love to order the duo set and sub the reg toppoki with their rose version. I wish they would offer half size on those. Good spice on it and I love the quail eggs and fish cakes in them. Be patience because everything is made to order. The staff are always nice every time we go.

Located inside H Mart's food court, Jaws Express sells a wide variety of Korean food but I was mostly drawn to the selection of Gimbaps. Think of these as the Korean version of sushi but with more texture, more crunchy vegetables and roots. I ordered the Bulgogi Gimbap and was given a buzzer to return later. I was expecting something pre-made so the fact that I had to wait a bit might suggest that these are rolled fresh. The Bulgogi Gimbap was cut into 8 thick pieces and every bite was crunchy from the veggies. They were also pretty generous with the Bulgogi meat too. If you're on the go, these are perfect because they can be eaten without utensils and don't make a mess at all. Although it's not as satisfying as like a hot meal, it hits the spot when you want something quick and easy.

Visited H-Mart and didn't realize they have a lot of different restaurants inside. I love kimbap and ordered the keto version it was really good. The sauces aren't that great but the kimbap itself was delicious. Price was reasonable and loved how filled up it was. Service was great, very friendly and fast service staff. Definitely a food court style ambiance with a good amount of seating / tables. They don't serve free water, if you're in H-Mart you can literally buy drinks there and then order your food. I saw some people order big sized tea bottles, etc. from the market and thought that was a super smart idea to share with family / friends and enjoying a meal at the food court. Some restaurants will offer cups so you could use that to share your drink.

Super fresh and delicious gimbap in the H mart food court! It always tastes fresh and flavorful, and service is quick and friendly. Decently priced at about $10 a roll. I usually get the bulgogi one but they all look tasty

Solid convenient spot for gimbap! My go to is the bulgogi gimbap and it's nicely seasoned and savory and ingredients are fresh and plentiful. Service is quick and nice.

    Half portion tteokboki- yummy!

If you're craving tteokboki, look no further! Located inside the Hmart food court, this spot offers tteokboki, fried Korean tempura, and kimbap! All your favorite street foods! I ordered the half portion of tteokboki (spicy) and it was delicious! It came out piping hot with fresh rice cakes, fish cake, quail egg, and a fried dumpling. For $6.99, this was the perfect portion size for lunch or a quick snack! The sauce was well balanced, spicy with a slight sweetness. Come try this place if you're ever shopping at hmart!

Good, fast, inexpensive, AND filling. Is this something I would go out of my way for? Not really. But if I'm in the area, or want to go shopping in H-Mart and am looking to get a quick fill, this would be my go to. The bulgogi gimbap is thick and has a good ratio of rice, veggies, and protein -- it tastes and looks like a quality gimbap. Definitely one of the better gimbaps I've had in San Diego.

    Toppoki (half order)

Jaws Express is located inside H-Mart in their food court. I checked out their website and found out they are chain with about a dozen locations across the US and about a dozen that are about to open. They serve Korean street food like gimbap and topokki. I've tried their bulgogi katsu gimbap (4/5), Jaws topokki soup (4/5), and bulgogi rice (4/5). I prefer their bulgogi katsu gimbap over just the bulgogi gimbap because I like the crisp crunchy katsu mixed with the other textures. The ingredients are fresh and it comes out hot, so be careful. The bulgogi gimbap is good, I just prefer the katsu. The Jaws topokki soup has a nice mix of fish cake and they throw in an egg. It is spicy (for me), so I usually order the mild. The bulgogi rice is pretty good. It's is a fair portion of bulgogi with a lot of bell pepper over steamed rice. I'm not a huge fan of bell pepper, but if you are, you will like it because they don't skimp on bell peppers at all. I think it should be renamed bulgogi bell pepper rice (lol). This place serves decent food, prices are pretty much sit down restaurant prices or close to it. The trade off is that it is faster and more convenient. You can usually find seating even during peak hours. Tables are usually clean, but if it's really busy you may have to clean the table yourself. Service is okay. They answer questions if you have any. I haven't had a negative customer service experience. Parking at H-Mart can be a pain at times, but it's usually during peak hours. Overall, we are fans and come here maybe once a month or every other month. 4 / 5: Food 3.5 / 5: Service 3.5 / 5: Cleanliness 3.7 / 5: Overall, but I'll round up to 4 mainly for the food

    Tofu Gimbap with Spicy Mayo
    Julia K.

This was my first time trying Gimbap. I was super excited there was a tofu option available. I wish there was at least one sauce with no dairy too. The savory flavor profile of the rolls, along with the crunch from the crisp carrots and pepper was delicious. The service was excellent. We ordered from a friendly server who had our food ready in less than 5 minutes. The food court inside H Mart gets pretty busy at lunch time, even on weekdays, which can make finding a clean table a little challenging. We managed to because we went after the lunch rush. Overall, the Gimbap and service were awesome. I will definitely be back.

Food was actually pretty good and service was also decently fast. Kimchi pancake was extremely large and we certainly appreciate that! Definitely good value for money there. Flavor was also exceptional. It was soft and light and had that kimchi flavor but wasn't too overpoweringly strong either. It was fairly oily though so I had to press out some of that oil using paper towels. Spicy chicken entree item was really nice. Not too spicy and it also had some veggies in there which I appreciate. Sauce itself was delicious and I think the only downside is that there was not as many large pieces of chicken so it was hard to tell what was chicken and what was rice cakes. Friend and husband definitely enjoyed the beef bulgogi. I only tasted a little and it was definitely good. I was really excited about the Hot Stone Bibimbap, but it didn't deliver as much. Rice on the side was fairly crispy which was nice, but overall I think it was missing a little something. The Bibimbap sauce they gave on the side was a 10/10 though!

First off, there is free parking available, just circle around the building until you see a garage entrance for retail parking. Two hours for free! Let me first explain the aesthetics of this place. Clean and modern with mid century feel accented with greenery throughout. Please note that they won't seat you until most of your party is present. We came here for Happy Hour which was from 4-6pm from Tuesday to Sunday! This is fantastic that HH includes the weekend!!!! To start, got a wellness shot which had a meld of juices and ginger. A great drink to ready your palate. For cocktails, I tried the Suika Spritz, which was refreshing! The Absolutely Pho-nomenal definitely tasted like cold Pho broth but spiked. It wasn't my favorite drink, but glad I tried it nonetheless. Of course we ordered the $1 oysters, and ordered all three - Baja, Pacific Northwest, & East Coast. It came with some Asian fusion sauces to dress our oysters. My fave was the Baja as these were the freshest! All three were smooth and non briny. On the HH menu we also tried - Bulgogi Birria Vampiro - Tender meat with bulgogi seasoned beef on top of a tostada. Really liked the meld of the two cultures in this dish. Duck Liver Mousse - Comes with rustic bread & crème fraiche. Very duck forward. I liked this because it was rich with flavor. Stone Crab Taco - Loved the nod to Loganisa in this taco! This was by far, my favorite protein dish on the HH menu!!!! Regular Menu - Mango Nasturium Kimchi Salad - I absolutely loved this vibrant and fresh dish!!!! I had to go back for second and thirds! Shishito Peppers with Bonito Flakes - This was definitely a fun and flavorful dish with lots of umami. Dessert - Hotteok and Vanilla Ice Cream - this was my favorite dessert! The pancakes were flaky and delicious!! Bonbunja Tiramisu - Beware! This has a strong coffee taste. It reminded of the strength and flavor profile of a Vietnamese coffee. I can't believe it's not cheesecake - Definitely a mix of a brûlée but with a cheesecake flavor. Confusing but works lol. We met the executive chef, Kyler, who explained and served some of dishes we ordered. The entire staff was so accommodating and even reminded us if we needed our parking validated! Our water never ran empty and our dishes were promptly taken away as we finished. Definitely a place to visit during HH since they offer amazing food and cocktail choices.

My wife and I went here for dinner expecting to eat great food based on all the high reviews and…read morethe upscale price, but we were instead left with disappointment and a big fat check with an unexpected automatic 20% gratuity fee for 2 people. Food: We got several appetizers and 3 entrees. We had the Mango Kimchi Salad, Bulgogi Birria Vampiro, Silkworm Pupa Tacos, Doenjang Risotto, Miso Lingcod, and Braised Short Rib. We got plenty of dishes to try, but unfortunately they were either simply mediocre or had an issue. The Kimchi Salad was too strong in spice and the mangos were unripe and hard. The Birria Vampiro was simply mediocre and sort of bland. Silkworm Pupa Tacos were again sort of bland. The Risotto was undercooked and crunchy instead of 'al dente'. Miso Lingcod had a very fishy taste and not much else. And the Braised Short Rib was too salty. Drinks: I got the Choi's cocktail and my wife got the Gangnam Style espresso martini. Both drinks were very well made and tasted great! Service: Unlike the food, the service was great! From the person who confirmed our reservation, to the staff at the front of the door, and to our server, they were all extremely friendly. We were celebrating an occasion, which we made known when booking and upon sitting down we got a handwritten card with a congratulations note. That was very unexpected and awesome! We also got a couple of complimentary cocktail shots from the bartender while we were there. Overall, I would say the staff and service was extremely good. Parking: The area of San Diego that Choi's is located is unfortunately very bad. Overfilled with homeless, drug addicts, and just plain shady looking people who roam the streets. I was overjoyed when I found out that they give you two hours of complimentary parking in a safe place! So to summarize: The staff that provide great service, the bartender with awesome drinks, and the free parking in a safe place simply do not make up for the main reason we were there: the food. The only reason I gave this place 2 stars instead of 1 was because of all these other factors besides the food. Before paying the bill and leaving, we did let the server know about the issues we found with the food in a very friendly and constructive way. She was thankful for the honesty and the feedback.
