    Zydeco Night
    Aurelia A.

We were looking for a place to enjoy some Zydeco music and was told about this place. Arrive early..Parking is treacherous, it gets crowded very fast. We had to sit in the back no big deal however squeezing your way through the bar is another story. It is a kid/family atmosphere and although I enjoy family time this would not be my first selection to bring children although there were plenty there. We did try the wings which were pretty good overall if you enjoy Zydeco and dont mind partying with childre. I would recommend

Tried something new while in Houston. Was quite disappointed. The chicken and beef were flavorful, but dry. The rice and charro beans were bland. The Sunkist soda a was refreshing. I liked the retro arcade games here. Plenty of TVs to watch events. The staff were friendly. Plenty of Texas decor to go around! If I return, I'll have to try something else on the menu.

Love this location! It's definitely a chill and laid back place. Order at the counter and come get your food when the buzzer goes off. Food is good! I order queso and chips- yummy! Menu said blanco but it looked more yellow to me ?? I also ordered the stuffed potato with steak fajita. I forgot to take a pic because I was so hungry, but it had a mound of meat on top!! Tender potato, definitely a good value!

Location: N shepherd Parking: plenty, also street parking Staff: nice and helpful Seating: I went for an Airbnb event and it was very well organized on the outside. Plenty of seating Drink: ice tea was well sugar Food: salad and wings , well seasoned and cooked Event felt private, having coverage but also plenty of opening to enjoy the fresh air. Food was well seasoned and cooked.

Salmon, steamed veggies and rice. All for $17.95. Great value and taste.

The salmon and 2 sides for 17.95 and tasty!! Lots of fried food, but value and taste is why we come there.

Country fried chicken. It was moist could use a bit more flavor.

Great place with great vibes. I would say it's a great place to take a date or go with a group of adult friends. It may be too noisy for kids but if your kids do well with noise then all good. But the noise could just be at night, not sure about daytime. Food wasn't that bad but wasn't the greatest. It was comfort food. It gave that home cooked meal type feels or atleast what I had did. Maybe I'll try something different next time. I had the chicken fried chicken with fries. You order at the counter and they call your number to pick up. So no waiters or waitresses but there are workers who walk by to get dirty plates etc.

It is tiny and packed tight inside, but they do have patio seating as well. Parking is very limited, but you can find street parking nearby. Reservations are highly recommended but walk ins are welcome. We had a few people taking care of us that night and they were all great. I was between a few items and they were very helpful in steering me in the right direction. We started off with a few bottles of wine to get the night started. From what I understand, their wine list is one of the things they are known for. Your only other option for an adult beverage is limited options of canned or bottled beers. I didn't really have a say in the wine we shared, but what we had was delicious and paired nicely with the items we ordered. For starters, we went with the highly recommended bread service. Get this! This bread was so good. I doubt they make it as ordered, but it came out like it was fresh out of the oven. It was a nice crusty bread with a fluffy interior served on a cutting board with a huge smear of miso butter. We then went with the Crispy Cauliflower which was one of my favorite dishes of the night. It was smothered in a gochujang aioli and reminded me of a general tso chicken or something. Very good. Thai Chili Rubs was next and these were so good as well. I'm a sucker for all the Asian flavor profiles and this hit that. For my entree, I ended up with the Pork Chop w/ Chutney. This was a huge chop on a layer of apple sauce and a wonderful chutney that contrasted the sweet sauce. Every layer worked well together. I will say the pork chop was just slightly over cooked, in some parts. It also came with green beans which was cooked just right. No room for dessert as we had another party to head to. Overall, I'm glad my friends picked this spot for their birthday celebration. I am now in the know about this place and will consider coming back in the future.

It's worth making the trip now, not later. The menu is exceptionally well-curated, hitting that sweet spot of what Houston does best. comfort, creativity, and just enough flair to keep things interesting. The space matches the vibe: modern and minimalist with a subtle Chip-and-Joanna-Gaines touch. The drink menu is just as thoughtful. Even the well spirits are solid. We kicked things off with the deviled eggs topped with maple pork belly, easily some of the creamiest I've ever had. Do not split an order. Everyone at the table should get their own. For the entrée, I went with the Sunday enchiladas made with Killen's famous brisket. Smoke, salt, pepper and exactly what you want from a dish like this. It typically comes with Mexican rice and refried beans, but the rice was running behind during my visit, so I swapped in scrambled eggs (it was brunch) no complaints. The various signs adorning the walls were cheeky. For it to be Sasha's only third day on the job, she was attentive and able to give great Happy Hour recommendations (brussel sprouts, sticky ribs, cheeseburger egg rolls). The brussel spouts were a tad too salty, but the biscuits with jalapeño jam that I devoured made up for it lol I was overjoyed by the cheeseburger egg rolls -- I loved the chipotle mayonnaise sauce that accompanied it. The various signs adorning the walls were cheeky. They've just hit on a formula that works: A menu full of crowd-pleasers that are interesting, visually appealing, and really tasty (enough so that you can charge a little more than I want to pay for wings, for example). Combine that with a welcoming space (great outdoor seating, and interesting quotes/decor all over the walls) and an excellent bar and you've got a restaurant worth visiting. Everything we ate was good, from the bread basket on. We shared sticky ribs, cheeseburger egg rolls (a house specialty that shouldn't be missed), wings, pork belly, quail shots (a new one), etc. The cheesesteak, despite being served on a hot dog bun, was pretty tasty, and if you're in the mood for something a bit healthier, the grilled salmon plate was actually excellent. The people back there in the kitchen are doing good work. They also clearly have a whiskey focus (this is America after all); it was too hot for more than one or two whiskey drinks when we came in, but there are like five different old fashioneds on the menu, and giant signage proclaiming them $5 during lunch. I had to get at least one. $5 old fashioneds at lunch can get dangerous very quickly; I would've drank a lot more if our server was more proactive, but it's probably for the best that she left us alone. This is a great choice for a big group, and we'll do it again.

I've ordered the same meal at both the Chicago and Houston locations for dinner . The infamous seafood trio & the spinach & artichoke dip. The pasta is pretty consistent between both locations. In Chicago we had the option to add lamb chops for about $6 a piece. However, the spinach dip in Chicago comes with garlic bread. So i was surprised when the app hit the table in housing. I thought the kitchen made a mistake but it just doesn't come that way. It really takes away from the dish. One thing I'd like to mention is the welcome shot. Not sure what it is but it's tasty.
