This diner is pretty solid in terms of food. Their prices are comfortable and there is a large variety of options from breakfast to lunch to dinner. The place itself is a bit out dated and could use some remolding as well as better cleaning. The coffee is always very strong which is exactly how I like it. This past weekend I went with my family for brunch and ordered their French omelette which had bacon, Brie cheese and scallions. The omelette came with toast and home fries. The bacon could have been a little crispier but the flavor overall was very good. The home fries could also use some more seasoning but they were cooked well done which was how I like it. The only downfall was the service. We waited a while for someone to even take our coffee order and food order. The server had a bit of an attitude when we flagged him after waiting a while to take our order. An apology for the long wait from the server would have been more appropriate. I had an omelette which comes with home fries and toast. The omelette was bland to me. I have never had good breakfast eggs aside from huevos rancheros at any restaurant, though. I don't find their food extraordinary, but they do have a lot to offer. It's likely that what you are thinking of eating or craving is probably on menu. There is a variety of cultural dishes--American style available. we came in on a Sunday after 11:30 AM and there was a long wait. Since it was just me and a friend , we headed to the Counter and skipped the wait for a table or booth. The noise level of dining conversations and overhead lounge music wasn't too bad. We enjoyed our banter immersed in own little bubble. Their bathrooms could use more attention. But I get it. It's the Sunday crowd and the staff is really busy cycling through groups of patrons to accommodate the next Group the that's been waiting for Brunch. We've been here on a weekday when the staff is much more personal and interactive. We don't come here for the food. It's just one of those places we all like to go where it is ok to hang with a few friends or family while breaking bread. There is free parking for about 25 cars in the back. Decided to shoot over here as my fiancée was in the mood for some good Ole diner food. The place looks nice, clean, very old school diner feel. The food was good but not amazing. My fiancée omelet was nice and big and she said it was tasty, but could've been much hotter. I had typical diner fare with grilled cheese and bacon sandwiches. They had a nice amount of bacon on them but only about a slice of cheese on top and on bottom. A grilled cheese should be nice and overflowing with a good amount of cheese. As well the bread could've been toasted a little more. I asked for my fries to be crispy and I will give you they came out nice and crispy, some of the nicest fries I've had in awhile. Ordered a cobb salad, lemon chicken piccata (choice of soup or salad so I went with chicken soup) and baja fish tacos. Food came fairly quickly. Cobb salad is a generous portion with all the toppings. The grilled chicken was the best part. Nice char-grilled taste. Overall, good salad to share and all the toppings were fresh. Lemon chicken piccata - kids loved the spaghetti. Chicken was cooked well. The sauce was okay. Chicken soup that came with it was alright, too. Baja fish tacos - I like that they added pineapple bits to it and the salsa has a bit of kick. Decent portions of fish. Good appetizer to share with kids. The one thing to note is the bathroom. Ladies room has one functioning stall because the door is completely busted. So its hit or miss with one stall given the cleanliness and all. But the meal was good and we all left happy. This is a difficult one. I'm only speaking on my first experience. Jax inn seems like a restaurant that has been in a state of Comfort for many years. I would say they most likely understand their Clientele and vice versa; if you are still going to Jax, you know what you're getting yourself into. I don't want to use the excuse that just because a place is a diner, then you shouldn't expect more because there is genuine love and energy that comes from a good cafe. This diner feels a bit bland and lousy. You can tell the quality of a restaurant in how they treat their restroom. With that being said, the food was ok. I got the French toast with two scrambled eggs, home fries, and turkey bacon. Everything was pretty bland and flavorless. My friend got a turkey burger with fries which he described as acceptable. I enjoyed his fries. His wife called the corn beef hash, which she enjoyed with no complaints and nothing to rave about. The only reason this restaurant gets a two is based on quality and taste. I loveeeee diners and diner food, but nothing about what I ate made me want to come back. It was all just ok. The environment was fine, the wait staff was fine, the food was ok, and the restroom was unkempt. I would love to see more care and love put into this restaurant and a focused menu if they want this place to grow however this may not be the direction of management. Well, many miles before Dillon S.C. you begin the broadside barrage of highway billboards pitching a Mexican themed establishment called South of the Boarder. And in that twisted mind of mine, I'm disappointed that I didn't buy enough fireworks, enough to declare war on Canada, so I could really expressed my presence as my wait continued. I've probably consumed enough homefries to write a novel about which would include my continual exasperation of never receiving them extra well done, no matter where I am dining, no matter the server, it's a worthless exercise. Jax had two peppers inside, green and yellow and that raised my spirits some because the undercooking tradition continues and another notch is scratched into my skin. Sausage links, here's another common breakfast attendee of mine, not dry inside, but not moist but a snap to the casing which I always listen for and I'll put it up to my ear along with hotdogs when I'm alone at home. Three eggs of magnificent sunshine yellow seeped slowly after a single fork tine incision and perfectly placed rye bread was set to begin phase one of absorbance, home fries securing the outer perimeter. My husband stopped by for lunch last Friday, and the place was packed even though it was before noon. In terms of food, I ordered the tuna melt, which was served open faced on an English muffin. It came with coleslaw and a pickle, and I made it a deluxe (with fries). My husband ordered the Buffalo chicken sandwich with onion rings. I really liked every aspect of my meal and was pleasantly surprised by the house coleslaw, which had the perfect ratio of mayo to shredded cabbage. The fries were well seasoned and perfectly crispy, as were my husband's onion rings. He noted that the Buffalo chicken patty was a bit dry, but still decent overall. Let's start from all the positives: - portions are truly "American" - enormous (there is no additional fee for packing the leftovers) - everything is fresh and tasty - servers are always very polite and helpful - there is a great choice of food and drinks - any modifications are possible - even while ordering online food tastes perfect - for the burger fresh ingredients are packed separately no to soften to burger - inside of the diner is clean and there are a lot of spaces available Our only bad experience was when buying just cake to go - Italian older man (someone like a manager) was not helpful and impolite. Also when it comes to how everything is served - you cannot count on the exactly same meal. One time sweet fries are thin and other time they are curly.
