Review really 3.5 star place. Everyone here was nice and friendly and the service was very efficient. The portion sizes were fair for the prices and the food was good but not great. They're matzo ball soup was way too salty and the hamburger was overdone. The fries were respectable and I like that it's open 24 seven. It's a good local diner. But nothing that I would go out of my way for.

So, this diner is like an old friend. Reliable, always there, never trying to impress but still doing it. The portions are so big, you'll need a nap halfway through. I often come here with my family, and it's the one place we all agree on. Even my picky father in law doesn't complain here. The coffee? Strong enough to wake the dead. The vibe is classic diner - nothing fancy, just good, solid food that gets the job done. The same could be said for the service: quick, no-nonsense, and with just enough sass to make you feel like you're part of the family. If you don't mind a bit of retro charm and a menu that's 15 pages long, you'll be happy. Perfect for a lazy weekend breakfast... or a 3 AM snack.

When i stepped in , the place was not busy. The servers were attentive and the ambiance was nice . I liked the potato skins and the buckwheat pancakes were delicious . The coffee tasted a bit old but that's okay . Taking one star off just because the restroom was bit worn down and dirty.

This diner is pretty solid in terms of food. Their prices are comfortable and there is a large variety of options from breakfast to lunch to dinner. The place itself is a bit out dated and could use some remolding as well as better cleaning. The coffee is always very strong which is exactly how I like it. This past weekend I went with my family for brunch and ordered their French omelette which had bacon, Brie cheese and scallions. The omelette came with toast and home fries. The bacon could have been a little crispier but the flavor overall was very good. The home fries could also use some more seasoning but they were cooked well done which was how I like it. The only downfall was the service. We waited a while for someone to even take our coffee order and food order. The server had a bit of an attitude when we flagged him after waiting a while to take our order. An apology for the long wait from the server would have been more appropriate. All in all, this diner is a good option if you're in the area and want diner food.

Large diner that is open 24 hours. There is some parking out front. We came for breakfast which is a pretty busy time for them. The food was average. I had an omelette which comes with home fries and toast. The omelette was bland to me. I have never had good breakfast eggs aside from huevos rancheros at any restaurant, though. The turkey sausage was not the brown breakfast type. It was huge but too salty. I couldn't finish the last one. The best of everything was the home fries. It's hard to mess that up.

I don't find their food extraordinary, but they do have a lot to offer. It's likely that what you are thinking of eating or craving is probably on menu. There is a variety of cultural dishes--American style available. we came in on a Sunday after 11:30 AM and there was a long wait. Since it was just me and a friend , we headed to the Counter and skipped the wait for a table or booth. The noise level of dining conversations and overhead lounge music wasn't too bad. We enjoyed our banter immersed in own little bubble. Their bathrooms could use more attention. But I get it. It's the Sunday crowd and the staff is really busy cycling through groups of patrons to accommodate the next Group the that's been waiting for Brunch. We've been here on a weekday when the staff is much more personal and interactive. We don't come here for the food. It's just one of those places we all like to go where it is ok to hang with a few friends or family while breaking bread. There is free parking for about 25 cars in the back. This alone is a huge reason why we find it convenient to eat here sometimes.

I really like the food at Jax Inn diner-- their portions are very big and everything tastes good. Service is quick, warm, and friendly. The ambiance is typical of a diner-- casual, retro style interior, with a combination of booths and tables. Their coffee definitely leans more towards a darker stronger roast.

I usually go to this diner for convenience but I noticed they didnt update prices on the menu.

Came here for an early dinner because kids were hungry at 4:30pm and it's so easy to get a variety of food for them at a diner. Friendly service throughout from the hostess to the waitress to the busboy. Tables appeared clean and so did the floor! Ordered a cobb salad, lemon chicken piccata (choice of soup or salad so I went with chicken soup) and baja fish tacos. Food came fairly quickly. Cobb salad is a generous portion with all the toppings. The grilled chicken was the best part. Nice char-grilled taste. Overall, good salad to share and all the toppings were fresh. Lemon chicken piccata - kids loved the spaghetti. Chicken was cooked well. The sauce was okay. Chicken soup that came with it was alright, too. Baja fish tacos - I like that they added pineapple bits to it and the salsa has a bit of kick. Decent portions of fish. Good appetizer to share with kids. The one thing to note is the bathroom. Ladies room has one functioning stall because the door is completely busted. So its hit or miss with one stall given the cleanliness and all. But the meal was good and we all left happy. Love the booth seats overlooking northern boulevard. Keeps the kids busy while enjoying a meal.

So nice to see they're operating on 24/7 again! Their service is great, the delivery men are the sweetest and food is delicious. Ample parking if you're driving in and is great if you're hungry and just want to drive in. Food comes fairly quickly and still HOT if you choose delivery. Happy they were able to thrive despite the pandemic and seem to be doing great in this new "normal".

The lack of attention was infuriating, especially when they were known for great food and great service. That was in 2025... In 2026, let's see what's changed. Decided to invite my mom and sister out for lunch as I was craving a burger. Let's get this out of the way. The food was really good and tasty...pun intended. The waiter started off with taking our order and I thought to myself; oh wow they've actually stepped up their customer service. Much like my San Francisco Giants....that glimmer of hope in the beginning is always met with disappointment 10 minutes later. The waiter decided to pull a Houdini and disappear. He never approached us to ask if we were ok or needed more coffee or anything. The other waiters didn't seem too attentive to the other tables either. It wasn't overly crowded but I decided to give the guy a break. 30 mins later....nothing...no one was around. My mom said she saw the later walk out and then he came back in a few mins later and not once approached us. Finally after losing my patience I ask out loud where is the waiter??? Another waiter comes scrambling and asks what's wrong and I stated we were left alone for almost 40 mins. I needed the check and expressed my disgust; that this was the second time my family and me were treated like this. The manager had the nerve to come and say he didn't charge us for two cups of coffee. I wasn't expecting anything comped but if you're going to make that gesture then do something better. He apologized and honestly, I wasn't having it. The old Tasty's was amazing. Their old staff was perfect and it's sad to see this former Astoria staple has fallen. Prices skyrocketed and service plummeted. Won't ever comeback.

Didn't take too long for a table, maybe 15 minutes. It's popular for those who know. We got seated in the back. Out waiter was nice but new so there was a couple miscommunications but it was all good. He was in training. Judging by the people around us, they knew what they wanted. They came over and gave us pickles for the table. My sister was not a fan, so I did not partake. The father/son duo next to us got entrees but shared pancakes and the son got a milkshake. I think next time, I need to take their lead. I got a fish filet sandwich and my sister for a tuna salad sandwich with fries. I had potato salad but her fries were better. My sandwich was yummy on a brioche role and avocado slices. I loved it. I really can't wait to return. I told everyone I know about this place! May it last for many more decades ahead!
