Old school diner with a jukeboxes on the table. The only thing is the oldies that were featured in the jukeboxes were Rihanna and Smash Mouth. They do get point for having Kesha in there. Pastrami omelette with onions and American cheese was amazing. The pastrami was very lean and the cheese was cheesing. My home fries had the peppers and onions too! I don't live in New York, so when I visit the area, I like to partake in certain foods that New Yorkers do really well, like deli sandwiches. Buccaneer Diner, conveniently located four blocks south of LGA, didn't disappoint. I had an enormous turkey club with real turkey--not processed, not all the same size and cut, but thick, juicy, inconsistently carved turkey breast from an actual turkey, with bacon and fresh tomatoes and fries and cole slaw. Maybe it's not fine dining, but I appreciate a great club sandwich and this was it. Places like this were doing real food before it got hijacked by RFK Jr. and MAHA. If you're catching a flight and need to eat, stop here. The new LGA has a lot of "local" food options, but why not do the real thing? read more

My daughter and I were visiting for a few days from out of town and wanted a late night meal so we went into Buccaneer Diner on a late Saturday. Glad we did because the food was just as good as the customer service The restaurant is very clean and we loved the 50's diner vibe. We had a club sandwich, sweet potato fries, pasta and carrot cake. The chicken with rosemary had a powerfully juicy interior and a delightfully herby skin. The potatoes were great and even the celery was impressive. UPDATE: they were super accommodating and gave me a free slice of cheesecake which was pretty cool of them. Not going to lie, pretty disappointed. The chicken tenders were far from tender. They looked delicious at first glance from the outside but as soon as I picked it up, grease oozed out of the breading. It was rubbery tasting almost like microwaved dinosaur nuggets and the breading was lifted from them being refried or just poor quality. Not to mention I paid $25 dollars for chicken fingers and fries with a soda and they gave me 4 tenders and an insane amount of fries like an entire tray. With 4 greasy, rubbery, icky pieces of chicken. Also the chicken has a grayish undertone. Get the burger guys. read more

For starters, they use off brand ketchup, they water down their A1 steak sauce and use crap Smuckers Syrup. The eggs, potatoes and French toast were "fine" but fine equals mediocre. Staff is scurrying around, placing to go orders in my space, distracted from their duties socializing with each other, while looking half interested in being there themselves.
