I am new to Napa and was referred to Dr. Claus by a longtime friend of mine who is also a patient of hers. I had a dental emergency due to a failed root canal by my previous dentist in SF. I was told that I needed an apico-ectomy to remove the infection from underneath the affected tooth. Dr. Claus referred me to an oral surgeon even before seeing me herself. I was really impressed with the care and concern exhibited by her and her staff to put me in good hands. The surgery went very well and I then began being Dr. Claus' patient. The office is very welcoming, professional and warm at the same time. They have state-of-the art technology, a friendly and highly competent staff, and a dentist in charge of it all who explains what she's doing, takes care not to cause pain or anxiety, has a sense of humor, and does a phenomenal job. The front office staff here, specifically Hermenia and Jane, are INCOMPETENT employees! I was scheduled Sept 5, 2018 to get the slit in my tooth fixed/packed, however, when I showed up that day I was told that I was getting a routine cleaning. After only 3 months from the last routine cleaning?!?!? Absurd! The problem tooth that needed to be fixed was not even noted. I just did not argue at the time as I had just come from a 12-hour night shift duty. Today was another display of incompetence. I was scheduled for deep cleaning of my right upper and lower quadrants which I specifically requested in my conversation with the dental hygienist and Dr. Claus, and I even repeatedly told Jane that I want both upper and lower quads be done at the same time.  I was assured that it should be no problem and scheduled me for it.  Today, I was suprised to find out that they only scheduled me for the right upper quadrant deep cleaning and wanted me to come back again for the lower. This was ridiculous!!! How many times does one need to repeat information, and from how many people do they need this info coming from, for the front office staff to get it correct???  When I explained that was not what I agreed on, Hermenia tried to turn the table around and blame me! She started twisting facts and giving me incorrect information to make it look like it was not their fault. Hermenia, YOU ARE SUCH A LIAR!!!  I am a nurse and I am very detail oriented.  I even noted down on my calendar what was specifically going to be done. I can even give you vivid details where Dr. Claus and my hygienist were standing when we had that conversation. And, Hermenia, you are such a bully, too! Instead of trying to acknowledge the mistake, you tried to put the blame on me! You should not work as a front office person as you are unprofessional and you have no people skills at all with your snotty and sour attitude. Perhaps, if I were white you'd treat me differently, hmm? Shame on you!  It is now coming to light that this might be your MO i.e. to get your patients coming back as frequently as you can dupe them so that you can collect more insurance payment with each visit. Dr. Claus, you are a very good dentist but you employ people who fail to uphold your name and values. It ruins your office's reputation and affects your business as they are the ones at the reception misrepresenting you. You just lost a patient today because of your incompetent staff. read more

Back to using Yelp! I absolutely love Dr. Claus and staff! I've been going for over a year now ( a patient with a lot of dental issues ) and every time I am 100% satisfied. The entire staff is friendly and always so happy. It's always a pleasure walking in to the office and being greeted by Herminia & Jane.... they always make sure to ask me how I am and how my family's doing! Being recently diagnosed with Celiac Disease Jane was even friendly enough to give me some advice and tips!! I have recently required dental work at DR. CLAUS'S office due to being "non-compliant" with regular check-up maintenance. I was given the option to see "DR. MARIN" due to DR. CLAUS being unavailable for the day. I agreed to see him, and I have to truly admit that he performed the necessary treatments in a timely, professional manner, well beyond my expectations. He is not only highly skilled, but also has a remarkable pleasant demeanor, which enables a patient to maintain a relaxed comfort level during the entire visit. Along with DR. DO NOT waste your time going here! Dr. Claud is unkind, unwilling to help when you're in an emergency with a tooth. I only ended up going to her because she bought my old dentist's, Dr. Fenderson, business and all off his patients when he retired. She has a revolving door of staff and other Dr 's that were a complete pleasure to work with!! The smartest thing I did was find a different dentist and I'm much happier now!! read more
