So we visited Jazz'd the night of September 15th. We were thoroughly disappointed because of numerous factors. We ordered 2 different mojitos one original and one mango. The original was horribly strong while the mango was fine. We ordered Thai wraps but as someone that identifies as Thai, it was horrible. Soy sauce and sesame oil chicken salad on lettuce does not equal Thai. We also ordered creole tomato dip and the bread was nice but the dip was so spicy we couldn't eat it. The spiciest ingredient listed was Tabasco sauce.... Tabasco sauce is not spicy so why does it taste like there were spicy peppers added? As again someone who is Thai I eat Thai chili peppers so for a tomato sauce to be that spicy is ridiculous. To top everything off there was not a lick of jazz music playing. It was throwback pop. The waitress and hostess were sweethearts but sadly it didn't make up for the bad experience we had. We have family that lives here in Savannah and sadly we wouldn't recommend this place to them or anyone that is looking for a nice jazz/ tapas restaurant. read more

We popped in at 6:45pm on a Thursday eve in June with no reservation. We were surprised there was no wait. The happy hour is from 4-7p (at the bar only) and they had music that began at 6pm. The music was a jazz type music but country songs were sung - kinda neat to listen to. Even though there were plenty of open tables, we were sat in the back room and it felt weird at first because we felt left out and away from the other patrons and the music. However, we were able to see well through the doorway and it actually allowed us to hear each other better as the music was pretty loud - so we stayed put and didn't ask to move. Two other couples who were sat in the back room after us asked to be moved. This venue is in the basement of a historic building with dimmed lighting when you get inside. There are some couch lounging areas, a long bar and then a fairly open concept dining area. The crowd was diverse and the atmosphere was welcoming. The staff were very, very pleasant. We ordered a mango mule, which was tasty and too sweet for me but husband enjoyed it. This is tapas style food with low country inspiration. 3-4 plates would do for most couples. We opted for the baked cheese terra cotta plate, the shrimp and grits, and the calamari. The cheese plate was good - but almost too much cheese for 2 people and simply not enough bread (or apples). It had a dill havarti, cheddar, goat, Brie all slightly warm/melted. 4 cuts of French bread, 4 thin apple slices, grapes and a whole garlic bulb (roasted). The calamari was a good portion and came with a nice marinara sauce. It had a garlic butter white wine sauce on it as well - and I'm not sure what made it so salty, but it was quite salty. Otherwise, it was good, just difficult to eat the whole bowl. The shrimp and grits was some of the best we have had. The grits were amazing, cheesy, creamy and smothered in a beautiful brown ham based gravy and three nice shrimp. I would definitely come back for the shrimp and grits and to try a few other items. Although we didn't hit it out of the park with all our food items - we definitely appreciated the service, atmosphere, intriguing menu and the shrimp and grits. We came on the recommendation of our daughter. The positives were the food and the service (5 star). We had the Tapas for Two for $70. A choice of soup or salad each, 4 tapas, dessert each and soft drinks, coffee or tea. We chose the onion soup and autumn salad, both excellent. For the tapas we chose the quail, the Wagu filet tips, lamp chops and fried green tomatoes everything was perfectly prepared, perfectly plated and tasted phenomenal. For dessert we chose the brownie with caramel gelato and the peach cobbler. Wonderful. The portions were not your typical tapas size, so we were stuffed to the brim. Next time we will order two tapas to share. Four was too much for us. Now for the negative (3 star) The musician there was horrible. He seemed to have an agenda for speaking the lyrics of each song from a soap box without clarity. Honestly it was like watching a bad American Idol audition, without Simon to stop him. However, we were impressed when our server asked if we were enjoying him or would we rather listen to the radio. She said this was his first time singing for them and they weren't happy with him. At the end of his first set the manager asked him to leave. So, overall this experience was a 4 star. I've been to this restaurant twice. It's in the center of downtown Savannah. It's located downstairs. They had alive musician playing during dinner which was very relaxing. They usually do not take reservations; first come first serve. I highly recommend the tapas for two as it's a great deal. You get salad for different tapas to share and a dessert. My husband and I thought it was delicious. I previously been with some friends and it's a great girls night out restaurant as well. Highly recommend. We did try to take my mom here for her birthday dinner in December however they weren't unable to open the restaurant that day due to short staffing. This place is great. My bestie and I came here for one drink, after the Prohibition Museum, which turned into two drinks, since still wanted to hang out at the trendy bar. I decided on the Mountain Jam lager which was citrusy and refreshing. It was served in a cold glass. It's made at Southbound Brewing Company in Savannah, Georgia. The bartender was great. And made my friend's drink quickly and brought my beer out quickly. This tapas bar (and restaurant) is downstairs beneath the regular street, just like The Ordinary Pub. I guess that's a common thing I'm Savannah but I wasn't used to it and thought it was really cool. I asked the bartender about it and he said upstairs used to be offices and downstairs where Jazz'd is was a diner. The decor here is really cool too. We were seated at the end of the bar, closer to the hostess stand, and they have wine sitting sideways on a shelf in the wall. It looked aesthetically pleasing. I loved it. There are fake flowers on the other end of the bar too. I wanted a double espresso for my second drink but they can't get espresso vodka I'm currently so I decided on the bourbon chocolate drink, since the bartender said it was his own recipe. This evening was enjoyed with several other couples as part of an unofficial Fathers Day celebration. Our excellent server (Eric) explained the tapas concept to us, and recommended that each person order two each. My wife and I utilized the "tapas for two" option offered on the menu. We each received a soup or salad and dessert, and four tapas, along with soft drinks or coffee. This was priced at sixty-five dollars and was a great way to sample the menu. We ended up ordering the Jazz'd Caesar salad and she crab stew, along with the fried chicken and chorizo gravy, lamb chops, low country shrimp and grits, and Cheerwine bbq ribs. The portions were more than generous and all dishes were very delicious. During the dinner, live music (presented each night at the restaurant) from the group "Lyn Avenue" added to the nice and intimate ambiance of the basement restaurant. It was obvious that the management takes pride in providing the best atmosphere possible, as every table and the surrounding area was immediately cleaned and vacuumed as guests departed. The evening concluded with each of us ordering the bread pudding from the Chefs selection of sweets. The bread pudding was delivered hot from the kitchen and topped with chocolate sauce. I was not so jazzed about jazz'd. I was only jazzed to leave. The service was very good and our server was fabulous which is why I am still giving them a 3 star review. I had high exceptions since I love live music and their menu looked awesome. However, I did not care for the food and the jazz music was okay but not great. The venue is pretty strange. It was super dark with a few accent lights on each table and on the walls. The bar was like a huge Vegas bar with gaudy details and the room had exposed pipes everywhere which had been painted bright colors to try and blend in with the room. Even though I didn't like the vibe I acknowledge that they were trying to create an artsy ambiance. We started off our time there with drinks. My friend took one sip of her drink and could not drink it. She said it was so syrupy and sweet that she didn't want to drink it. I urged her to send it back and get another but she didn't want to be a bother. I got the cucumber cooler, which I thought my drink was fine. As far as the food, none of the things we ordered were actual tapas. The serving size and the items were not tapas-like at all. The she-crab stew was so heavy, almost like a clam chowder. I could not taste the crab at all because it was so overwhelmingly thick and creamy. The crawfish mac and cheese I was sure I would like better, but alas this was another miss. Visually, it looked so appealing like it was going to be my favorite mac and cheese I've ever had. However, the flavors were all off. It tasted like regular mac that someone had dumped a can of Ro*tel with the tomatoes and green chiles then plopped some pieces of crawfish which were bland. It was not impressive. Finally, the baked cheese terra cotta was perhaps the most disappointing. The crostinis served with the cheese did not taste like a freshly baked baguette. The mixture of the goat cheese and brie which was baked did not go together. I enjoyed the roasted garlic but the cloves were so huge it was hard to mix around and eat with the cheese. It was a strange dish. I feel like if it was one dish I didn't like I'd be more forgiving. However, three dishes and none of them were good. I don't think I'd come back unless the quality of their food improves. Savannah is a foodie city and I felt that jazz'd was lagging behind a bit. read more

This spot offers small plates so you can try a few different things. First impression, the seats are terrible, super uncomfortable. Small metal chairs with no padding. Since they had just opened we requested to be moved to 1 of 3 tables in the back with different, more comfortable seating. The seats were so uncomfortable that we would have otherwise left. We had the blue cheese ice burg wedge salad, sweet and spicy wings, martini tenderloin and creme brûlée dessert. Everything was excellent with the exception if the Martini tenderloin. The staff promptly removed the offending item from view and bill. Additionally we had ordered olives and feta but the server forgot to put in the food item. The server also forgot drink orders. Luckily a bartender recommended Jazz'd to us and it was by far the best food we had in Savannah. Service: interestingly, the staff was the least southern charmy folks we've encountered here. The hostess seemed to hate her job. When we were first seated, it was at a table directly in front of the performer, so we asked if we could sit somewhere else. Seemingly highly irritated, she complied. Let's start With the insanely overpriced wine... $60 for a bottle of wine that costs $6 at the local grocery store. Abysmal. Our favorite item was the five onion soup- delicious. My husband and I stoped in to enjoy the jazz music and a cocktail before our dinner reservations. The music was not jazz but good so we grabbed 2 spots at the bar and ordered 2 angels envy neat. I noticed the pour was a bit more than expected but the glass was curved a bit. We got the check and to our surprise we were charged for a 3oz pour, $45/drink without us asking for the double or even triple pour, depending on their standard. The bartender did not inform us of his plan to upsell our order without our permission AND there were no prices listed on the spirits/cocktail menu. I was furious to say the least. Wish we would have spoken to the manager. We took the drinks to go and we're not able to finish them due to the quantity given was an acceptable amount for 3 hours worth of cocktails. We randomly saw this bar while we were walking. We decided to stop in and get a few drinks while we waited on our table to be ready at another restaurant. I'm glad we did because this was a dope spot, I wish we found sooner. It reminded of the clubs you saw in the movies because it was in the basement. We walked in and was able to get a seat at the bar. All tables around the restaurant and bar seats were social distanced. The staff had on masks, so we felt safe with their COVID-19 precautions. We ordered a raspberry martini and a citrus basil Martini first and they were amazing. Then I had a mojito and it was one is the best ones I ever tasted. We decided to check this place out solely for drinks and we weren't disappointed. It's located below the street so you have to walk down stairs. There is an elevator for persons that can't do steps. This is a great place to just come and chill. The decor is modern but done tastefully. They have live music but we missed it since they do not start until 9pm. I recommend sitting at the bar if you're not wanting to really eat. Bar stools were super comfy and the bartenders were really nice. The drinks were amazing and reasonably priced. It's hard to find a $9 martini. I started off with a watermelon cooler. It's hot this time in Savannah and I just wanted something that was fresh. It hit the spot! I had to stop at one because this drink is dangerous...lol. It's one of those that will sneak up on you if you have too many cause they go down so easy. The apple martini was delish!
