In the past I have often taken my vehicles to J&B Auto & have been pleased with the service I received. However, I just took my Ford F-150 for an oil change & "free tire rotation". The oil change cost $80 minus a $15 coupon. OK. The "free" tire rotation was another story. One tire was out of round so they balanced all the tires for $70 (perhaps the idea behind the "free tire rotation?). The real surprise was they destroyed all 24 lug nuts removing the tires. I complained that if they had a problem taking off 1 or 2 tires, they should have called me immediately and asked if I wanted them to continue with the rotation. Instead, they took all the tires off then called to tell me there was a problem. The service tech agreed but they would not share any of the cost of the lug nuts. The result was a total service bill of $285. I know (as they should have) that the lug nuts on a Ford F-150 are poorly made. But I have owned this truck for 11 years. In 11 years, I have purchased 6 new tires, had the tires rotated 15 times and had to replace only 6 lug nuts. Also, I dropped off my truck Monday at 8:30 AM and wasn't able to get it back until Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 PM partly because first they ordered 15-20 lug nuts before deciding they should replace them all. Needless to say, I will never return to here for any service & would advise anyone who owns a Ford F-150 to never get a "free" tire rotation there! read more

I'm surprised to see some of these bad reviews. Just had my car repaired today and Gissepie (not sure that's how he spells it) went about and beyond to save me money. Cheaper than other shops and close to what a friend of mine would have charged me but the gas and time I would've wasted the convenience of JB auto was worth it. I'm very particular of where I take my vehicles on and if I hear a price or recommendation that I don't like I just walk away. I was definitely impressed today and will be returning but will request that staff member. read more

I could not say enough positive things about my experience with JB auto! I found them on repair pal as I have an extended warranty on my used car. Matt was extremely helpful and walked me through everything that needed to be done. I was able to get a loaner after a few days when he knew that my car was going to be there for awhile. I showed up with no appointment and said "something is really wrong underneath my car." I had no idea what it was but it sounded like the undercarriage was going to drop out. Nat immediately hopped in the car with me and got it right up on the lift as soon as we got back. He had the issue diagnosed in about 15 minutes and told me when to bring the car back. I got the car back and it sounds great! Completely fixed. And because we had our car serviced for something else there recently, there was no fee! Nat was knowledgable, polite and the service was fast. Though I did not work with other employees, all were polite when I had any interaction with them via phone or in person. This was the worst customer service experience I've had with a car to date. Steve was the guy I spoke to most days, he told me that a repair would temporarily fix my car but assured me the sound would "come back." I was okay with that, but then when the sound never left they tripled my bill to $6,500 and refused to work with me at all. Paul the manager graciously offered to take 200 dollars off my bill, and then changed his mind. Because why wouldn't he. They flat out lied to make the situation work in their favor. As always I let my guard down and it cost me a lot of money. My recommendation when dealing with these crooks is to have them PRINT A COPY of the estimate and expectations before they begin the work. UPDATED REVIEW. The crooked business is at it again, I made this review in October of 2017. On January 18th, 2019. The owner of the shop comments that his people are honest and they would warranty their work. Despite the fact I had my car towed off their property because of the horrible job they did. And had the entire engine replaced over a year ago. You're obviously trying to save face. It's pathetic, time to clean house at this crap hole. read more

Very happy with the work that was done on my car. The front desk staff were helpful, and courteous. However, 15 minutes before the shop closed we got a phone call telling us we had to be there in 15 min because they were closing. We surely understand that the shop needed to close, but 15 minutes (heads up)was unacceptable. It only got worse, when we were driving to pick up our car......As we on our way, we saw an employee drive right past us in our car going @60 mph. That made us really upset that an employee would drive our car in such a reckless way. Also, I distinctly asked the employee to change my info on my car to, "oil change done" mode. I drove away thinking it was all set. Unfortunately, it wasn't done. I had to drive all the way back to the shop to have it done the following day. So, as much as I would like to give this place a great rating for the work that they performed, I just can't. We felt as though it was completely unacceptable for an employee to test drive our truck at 60mph on a side road. We won't be back again. read more

I came in one evening with a broken muffler pipe (I think ?? lol I'm not good at cars) and was moving to Marthas vineyard the next morning. they came in earlier than usual the next morning to make sure it was done before my ferry! Knowing JB Auto would have the diagnostic equipment to resolve a check engine light I brought my vehicle to them for an inspection that was also needed. I was surprised when they came back to me with an estimate that exceeded $3000.00. At no time did the vehicle show any symptoms of needing any work. The personnel at the front desk were all too friendly as were the mechanics, I think I met everyone in the place. I felt as though I wasn't being told the truth. I left JB Auto without letting them do any work and brought the vehicle to my local mechanic who was able to reset the engine trouble light and assured me that the work that JB Auto recommended would not be needed. read more

worst experience i ever had with a company (any company) it started out okay, friendly polite and looked at my truck right away. thats about as far as the good went. after being told i would have my truck by the next day at 12:00/1:00 i was quaoted around $1000 for my truck to be fixed. so around 1:00 the next day i got a text (not even a phone call) i was told i needed new front and rear brakes that would be a additional $1800 to the total (bring it to $2800) from $1000 less than 12 hours after being told $1000 and would have my truck then. so what can i do i agreed to this work with only a text message to go on. they also said it would be finished by the end of the day. how this was possible i had my doubts. well they gave me a filthy, smell loaner with a 1/4 tank of gas in it. granted they dont have to give you a car to use but they had my truck for 4 days after telling me only 1 day hmmmmm this wasnt even the worst part after getting my truck back after 4 days i had to walk around a congested un kept parking lot to find my truck all the way in the back of this parking lot. i stepped on a manhole cover only to go falling straight through hurting my leg and bleeding all over. no one offer to help me up of even a bandaid after my knee was bleeding all over. for $2800 dollars you would think some one could come around and deliver my truck to me. then the owner tells me ("oh we knew that was like that") are you kidding me..... they where rude, cocky and un apoligetic for any of there lies and scams. i will go to no end to make sure i spread the word about how terrible and horrible this buisness is to the consumer !!! read more

Service is very, very, very slow. Taken my car there twice for an oil change. Both times they found a nail in my tire that needed to be patched up. Kinda strange because my car alerts me when there is an issue with the tire losing air. Third time I did actually go because this time AAA confirmed yes I did have a nail in my tire. AAA put air in my tire and told me I had about 8 hours before it would start to loose air again so I needed to get it fixed right away. Within the hour I drove to JB. After over an hour wait they showed me my original nail (that I knew about)+ an addition nail that I could suddenly hear hissing and quickly deflated my tire. Very strange. 3 trips and each time there is a nail in my tire. Just for shits and giggles I had a friend take their car here for an oil change. Wanna take a guess what happened?? Yup. Nail in the tire. Don't take your car here. The service is super slow, they will always find a nail in your tire and always try to tell you something else needs to be fixed when it doesn't. My change oil light required light came on and I needed it done asap. I went to J & B Auto and they said they could change the oil as I waited. I asked the man what the approximate cost would be and he said "I won't know until the hood is up and the mechanics look around". My response was well let me know if there are any problems before doing anything. Needless to say, my oil change was $84.00! I have a regular mechanic, who couldn't change the oil as he was booked, but he charges $35.00, as did the mechanic I used prior to him. I was appalled! I asked why $84 and was told the used synthetic oil, why? I don't know, but I'm fine with regular oil. I was told the tires were rotated. 3 weeks ago I had a flat, and Firestone changed the tire and rotated them, these clowns probably put them back to where they were! Never-the-less, I told them I didn't want Synthetic oil, I didn't want the tires rotated, I asked for an oil change. The guy told me Ford recommends synthetic oil, which of course, they don't, as shown in the book and was told to "get out of the 80's! These people are highway robbers, all mechanics call if they find additional problems prior to doing additional work. I was sitting in their waiting room, and no one said anything. Don't go to this place.... they see a woman, and they think they can do whatever they want and a woman wouldn't know. A $50.00 mark up is a reason to know! Found this place from a Groupon for an oil change, which was actually a good deal (although turns out it was $10 more than the deal they were already offering). Despite making an appt a week in advance, it took just under 3 hours for an oil change and balancing of my tires (which I'm still not sure I needed). After my recent experience with this auto shop I am rethinking why I ever took my car there in the first place. While the guys out front cant sometimes be very helpful and nice, if you have an issue with their service you may be seeing a completely different side of them. I went in after noticing that the engine splash guard on my car was being held up by zip-ties. Yes, you heard that right, ZIP TIES. This shop was the only place I have ever taken my car since I got it, but after having to send it back after them fixing their ziptie issue and finding the guard coming off while driving that was the last straw. Not to mention that the last time I took my car in for an oil change (after making an appointment in advance) I waited nearly TWO HOURS. Over priced and underwhelming. I will be finding a new place to take my car. Edit: I am also ashamed to say this, but they were offering free oil changes for rating them 5 stars on yelp and printing it out, so a lot of these 5 star ratings may very well be just that. read more

I know the term "honest mechanic" seems like an oxymoron, but that is exactly what you will find at JB Auto Care. Great group of guys - they are always extremely friendly and helpful. Whenever you need a repair, they explain to you every little detail of the job/problem so that you know they aren't trying to pull a fast one on you. If you want to see for yourself what's going on, they'll take a picture of the engine and email it to you at home or work. I had taken my old car to have work done at chain repair shop and took it here after the problem still persisted. They took a picture to show me the cob job/incorrect fix the other shop had done and worked with me on getting the repair done correctly. They are always extremely quick, even if they have to order parts from your car manufacturer it is always within a day. If they need longer to fix it, they will give you a loaner car so you can get to work or give you a ride if its local. If they see other problems, they let you know how immediate they need to be fixed and if it is something you can wait and see on, they'll let you know so you don't feel pressured to drop a ton of money on a problem that isn't imperative to fix. I won't bring my car to another shop - these guys are the best! read more

I'm not surprised to pop on here and see the abundance of horrible reviews. I'm not even sure I could possibly explain how horrible this experience was....and still is My car's front end was hit. Drivable, but damaged. My insurance company found me not at fault and was working with other driver's insurance to wrap up the claim. In the meantime, I needed an inspection sticker. When they inspected the car, the guy told him that he couldn't pass it because of the damage that was causing frame and electrical issues. Cool, we appreciated the heads up. We called our insurance and said what can we do? He said they'd send out an adjuster, we could pay the deductible while the claim was being resolved, and then they'd reimburse us. Awesome. The insurance rep then says "Maybe call them and see if they're up for the repair because they may not be." This should have been a sign. We called and they said absolutely, no problem at all. Adjuster goes out, quotes the repairs, and then we wait. And wait. And wait. No calls or updates unless we called, and were always told "we're a little backed up". No loaner cars available either, which is fine because it's a courtesy, but we were originally told that it would on be a few days. After almost two weeks without a car, I called to check and they said they have the shop across the street do repairs like this and they are so busy it could be another week or two. Unacceptable. Why did you say you could do this?? So then he tries to reconcile and says "we work with another mechanic who can do it quicker, I'll have him come by and look". They then call me back and say "it's actually going to be more than the original quoted repair, but don't worry, we touch base with the insurance and they're always good about this." We hang up under the impression they'll get a new adjustment on the repairs and get the car fixed. We finally get a call (after them having our car for WEEKS) saying you can come get your car everything is all set. I leave work early and rush home so we can get over there, write the check for our $500 deductible, and the guy at the desk goes "it's way more than $500..." We looked at each other confused and I said right, this is an insurance repair. Our insurance has to pay you directly and we way our deductible. The guy says "oh then you can't take your car." WHY DID YOU SAY IT WAS ALL SET!? So I call our insurance right there. The rep says they never sent the paperwork to have the check made out to them (they need tax id, etc.) The kid at the desk (who actually put some effort into resolving this) talked to the rep on the phone and apparently this shop "doesn't have the insurance form for insurance repairs". Eventually our rep tells them she is having the check sent out, but without that form it would be in the shops name and my fiancé's name and that he'd have to go back to the shop to sign it with them. No problem. Just give us our car. The kid calls his manager to get the okay, confirming he talked with the insurance and check is being sent right then. They give us our keys with a "we're doing you a favor" smirk. No buddy, you messed up. Fast forward a week, and that begins the threatening text messages from the manager to my fiancé saying the insurance only paid a certain amount so we still owe another $500. What??? So we immediately call our insurance upset, to find out they cut the check for what the adjuster went out there and quoted it at. THEY INCREASED THE REPAIR COST AND NEVER TALKED TO THE INSURANCE. Do these people really not get how claims work?? So my fiancé tells them "you have to give the adjusted repair paperwork to insurance, this has nothing to do with us, please talk to our insurance rep and stop harassing me". Well they didn't stop. They are still harassing us AND we talk to our insurance rep weekly who says he has now requested the paperwork at least four times with no result from the shop. (The shop sent one form that just listed parts, no individual prices, and a total at the bottom haha, in which our rep responded that he needs a legit receipt with breakdown of parts and labor prices). I wouldn't wish this place on my worst enemy. Not only was your service and communication terrible, but you've now been harassing people who have directed you to the correct place (our insurance) who would pay you if you had legit paperwork! Icing on the cake? They had to have forged my fiancé's signature to deposit the check the insurance sent, because we never got a call to come sign....unprofessional, illegal, sketchy, and absolutely the worst "business" I've ever interacted with. read more

I first went to JB Auto Care last summer. I had only brought my car in for oil changes and was satisfied. I got the usual recommendations of fluid changes, change of air filters etc. I had left the shop with noise in my front wheel after my last oil change and went back the following week. The car was taken into the shop and the mechanic "spun" the wheels and could not hear anything. It was suggested to me to have my brakes checked which would cost me a fee. I had a thorough break job done in Florida previously a few months prior. Upon telling the staff this, the response was, "Well you can take car back to Florida". Horrible experience! Scheduled an appointment for an oil change and tire rotation. Upon arrival I was told that they didn't have my appointment in the computer. I showed the general manager Paul Martin my confirmation email. He told me it was going to be an hour and a half for an oil change and tire rotation. I was not happy since I had another appointment to go to. Paul tried to be accommodating and said he could probably have it done in an hour. After about 40 minutes he came to tell me my car was all done. I was very happy thinking that everything was done that I paid for. I inquired about the tire rotation. He then told me that wasn't done as they put my car on a special lift that doesn't accommodate tire rotation. I could wait again maybe 20 minutes a lift would be available. Very unprofessional and fraudulent! The car is not done if the tire rotation was not done. Also did not provide me with paperwork until I asked for it. On paperwork it stated tire rotation was performed. When I told him to remove it as it is not accurate.... he stated that is how it is printed out! Seriously? Had I not inquired I would have assumed they were heroes and made it work out... it even would have said so on the paperwork! How unfair to any consumer to be treated this way! At the end he said I could come back for a free tire rotation( oh you mean the one I paid for and was not done?) and he asked if I wanted him to place that in my notes. Told him to do what he wants... I will not be back! Beware!! Would give zero stars if this was an option. read more
