This has to be worst auto business I've experienced. Last Thursday I went for oil change and tire rotation, I was told at least 2 hr wait or leave my car for the day. So made appointment for Mon. When I came back, I was told that I didn't have an appointment and would have to wait at least 2 hrs. When I stated that I had made the appointment with the same person who was currently assisting, he stated he didn't even remember me. All this for an oil change!! read more

Pls excuse typos I went here for a fuel/Gas repair. The establishment appears to be professional & reputable. Appears being the operative word. SEVERAL cardinal Auto repair rules broken here. * My vehicle was promised to me by 6pm one day last week. I stated that I would pick the car up the next morning, as I was taking the T & wouldnt make it after work before they closed. I stated, 1. I would be there at 9am the next day. I stated that I was paying CASH & I asked VERY specifically what the cost was. I was told $429. I was told the car would be ready. * Before walking over to get my car (No loaner car available they stated) the next morning, I called to state that I was on my way. I WAS TOLD when I called.... that the car was not ready!!!!!! NO ONE botherd to call me the day before OR that morning to let me know! I spoke to Paul, & I asked why I was not called-- no answer or excuse was provided. ZERO apology. None * I scheduled appointments with clients that morning, based on their bogus information. I had to then call my Employer to state that I would be 2 hours LATE. * When I got there, ready to pay, I was told my balance was $475. Are you following me here people?!! * I said, thats not what you told me yesterday! I took a certain amount of money out the bank. I dont have credit cards & now you're asking me for extra money outside of your quote???? * " A special piece was needed" Paul stated. FINE, but YOU CALL someone to LET THEM KNOW!! You dont let them show up, with not enough money & be embarrased & inconvienced!! ----- Days after the repair, Today, I HAD to bring the car back, for an issue related to the gas pedal/acceleration, An issue I associate with the repair. The car was left there overnight. At 11:30am, again I called to see if I could pick the car up. At 11:30am, Paul tells me, "Oh, well I WAS "GOING" to call you. It will be an additional $100, to diagnos the issue. WHAT?!!! Only god knows when he was "going" to call. The car was left over night and at NEARLY noon, no simple update?! AND an additional $100 for diagnosis? My exact words were, Do Not do anything else to my car, I'm coming to get it---- STAY AWAY from this place. Plenty of other places seconds away. Unprofessional, the only thing consistent about this place is their inconsistentcies. read more

Being new to the area, I needed a place to go when my dashboard suddenly lit up like a Christmas tree. The folks at JB Auto Care were pleasant enough to work with - they work quickly, gave me a loaner car, called with follow up information. The downside was they did work that just wasn't necessary and it cost me $170 plus labor. It wasn't until I could speak to my regular mechanic later in the week that I learned I had been told I needed parts that were replaced just a couple of months ago. Shame on me for not realizing this. Shame on them for their unprofessionalism. read more

I had high hopes for this place because there was a write-up in a local magazine that was glowing; it went on about how they were an honest, family-owned business. My engine light came on so I took it to this shop. They quoted me 2,000 dollars worth of work including timing chain. That threw up the red flag because the chain had already been done so I took the car to another mechanic who fixed the problem by replacing just a sensor. I highly recommend avoiding this place. read more

I bought one of the daily deals on Groupon, the kind that you need to use the same day you purchase it. I needed an oil change, and had the day off, so when I saw the Groupon come up for a $15 oil change, I jumped on the opportunity. I promptly bought the Groupon then proceeded to JB auto. When I walked in, I explained I purchased the Groupon for today, and expected the gentleman to know what I was talking about (I couldnt have been the only one who bought one!). However, the guy just stared at me. I proceeded to ask if he had time to do the oil change right then, or if I should come back after errands. He scoffed at me and said "I am all booked up today..... I've got nothing today". I asked perhaps because of the Groupon deal, and he told me he didn't run a deal, "maybe the boss did...he does things without telling us sometimes". I explain that the Groupon expires that day, at 4pm. He told me he would honor it the following day. I wasn't happy because Saturday was packed with other errands, but I asked if he could do it at 3pm. him:"well we close at 4..." me: "uum, okay...." him: "it would be the last appointment.... " (since when does and oil change take a full 60 minutes?) me: "okay...." then he relucatantly put me in their book to come in on Saturday. After returning home, and being completely turned off by the lack of professionalism, the poor attitude, and downright feeling that they did NOT in fact want my business, I went elsewhere for my oil change. When I bought my car in for breaks in August mouths later one of the break parts was defective parts it cost me 552.62.I went back in March JB quoted me 3 different prices it when from 299 to 800. I end up paying 676.21 in 7 months1,228.83. They told me that they were not charging for the faulty part. The just the labor alone was 673.30. I took my Car Care credit card and CUT IT UP I'M DONE BEING RIPPED OFF! read more

Went in for an inspection sticker. "Inspector " told me my tires (34k miles) had dry rot and would not pass inspection. He said they were possibly going to blowout while driving on the highway and that I would need to have new tires installed. I left the station, drove to another inspection station, passed the inspection and was on my way in ten minutes. You be the judge. read more

Highly recommended. I took my 4 year old car in for a sticker and luckily found out that my coils were about to crack and the struts needed to be replaced. Probably from pot holes. After I got over the shock, the service manager showed me exactly what was wrong with the car - even drew me a picture and advised it was unsafe to drive it. They gave me a loaner car which was awesome. I did have to wait 2 days to get the car back because there was a problem in getting the parts, but at least I had the loaner. It was expensive, but I'm sure it would have been much more at the dealer's and I feel confident in the work that was done. The service manager and the tech were very well informed and cordial to me and answered all my questions in a way I could understand. Great place!!!! read more

Came here for a used car pre-purchase inspection. Excellent, professional service! I feel more knowledgeable about the car and got some good advice. The waiting room has coffee and wifi. I took my car for some work and they actually caused a problem (putting in the wrong fluid and causing my engine to start seizing up). It's always a pain to have your car run badly. It's really difficult having moved from Chicago and needing to search out new service providers. I used Yelp. First place I tried (not JB) gave great service (gave my wife a ride home and delivered car fixed), but when the repair didn't hold....out of business. JB stepped up on the first experience. Made the repair at a fair cost, same day and were engaging people. I'll be back for the second round with another vehicle. I'm hopeful for the second round....I'll let you know how it works out over time. The waiting area needs a clean up. Wash the floors and shampoo the chairs. read more

I live just down the street from this place and wanted to bring my car in today for state inspection. I have a baby at home and I need to plan errands accordingly. It being Saturday, I called on my way over and was told the wait was only 30 minutes. I pulled into the parking lot literally three minutes later and went into the office and was told the wait was now 45 to 60 minutes. I said that I had just called and was told it was a shorter wait, and one of the guys behind the desk told me other people had come in before me (?) but that he would try to get my car in quickly. About 30 minutes later I popped out to the front desk to check on timing because my husband had let me know our baby had woken up and wanted to eat and he needed to know whether I'd be home soon to feed him or if he should give him a bottle. I told the guys I wasn't in a huge rush but just needed to know what to tell my husband. At that point, one of the guys at the desk asked me to come outside with him. He said that someone had given my car some kind of preliminary check and noticed some things that would cause it to fail the inspection. Some red flags went up for me at this point because they did the same thing to my husband several months ago and told him he needed all new brakes on his car and at the time I remembered thinking those repairs didn't seem necessary because he had had his brakes done fairly recently. This guy told me that my emergency brake wasn't working at all, and that my car needed four new tires to pass inspection. He said those were just the first things they noticed, and that they could take it in and check it over and see what other repairs it needed, but "hopefully that was it". He urged me to make an appointment with them to have the repairs done and the inspection completed. I declined and left. On my way out, I tried my emergency brake, put the car in drive, and stepped on the gas. My car didn't budge. My brake was working just fine. My car is also garaged and I work at home, so it is hardly ever out sitting in the elements developing dry rot in the tires. When I got home, I had my husband bring my car to a different establishment for the inspection. It passed without any issues. These guys seem to me to be con artists, and I got the distinct impression that the guy who brought me out to my car to tell me about what was "wrong" with it assumed because I was a woman I wouldn't know any better. He most certainly spoke down to me as he pointed out things that were allegedly wrong with the tires. I do not recommend this place at all. read more

Didn't have a great experience here and will not ever go back. Tried to charge me 10 times what my repair actually should have been. Took it for a second opinion and the other shop charged me $125 for a repair JB Auto quoted me for $1200... just because a woman comes in to your shop doesn't mean you should try to make her feel stupid and try to trick her into paying 10 TIMES THE PRICE OF THE ACTUAL REPAIR!!? We had a very good experience..the back tire had blown out..young mechanic on his way off the clock..took the time to find the problem..the man at the desk, and another mechanic said we'll have the spare put on and you'll be on your way....well...we were, they were all so kind and did not charge a penny..Merry Christmas...I wouldn't hesitate to bring my car there. THE ABSOLUTE WORST SERVICE. Do not, and I repeat, DO NOT bring your car to be serviced at JB Autocare. I had an issue with my headlights I needed resolved, my h.i.d.s were out and had been for several months but my running lights have always worked with no problem along with the side markers and blinkers. I have also never had any service light come up on my dashboard before. Shortly after I dropped off my car, I received a phone call stating that they would need a full day to fix the h.i.d.'s so I came back to pick up my car (30 minutes after I dropped it off) as I get into my car I notice my (ABS) light is on along with my BRAKE light, also my headlights were 100% dead. not a single light worked. After questioning about the headlights and lights on my dash, they swore up and down that all they did was pop the hood and look. they swore they never ever touched anything. As I'm beginning to loose my patience and arguing with "Rob the manager" he then tells me they were pulling fuses to check them. At that point I told him "alright this is fine I will take my business else where and I will not be returning" he replied with, "good, take this crap out of here" I will not be returning to JB Autocare and if I do it's going to be to put a boot in their ass. I have proceeded to Bridge St. Tire&Alignment who were able to help me with out any issue what so ever, I highly recommend staying away from JB Autocare by all means. read more

Stay away. After a recent oil change I found out that they took off my tires to see how the brakes look. Mine were fine. However, ththey didn't tighten the lug nuts all the way. After days of a rattle getting louder and louder I took the car to another shop and found out my left front tire was hours away from falling off. God help them if it did when my kids were in the car. I had been going to JB for a few years but had such a bad experience recently that I won't go back. I had brought my car in for a front end alignment. After sitting in the waiting area for an hour I was told the alignment couldn't be done because there was some "play" with a tire rod. They said if I was going to try and get my car inspected it wouldn't pass because of this supposed tire rod issue. The only problem is I brought it to JB Auto the week before and they gave me an inspection sticker! I was then urged to make another appointment to get my tire rods looked at but was told I would probably be looking at a bill of just under $300 for the repair. Instead, I brought my car to a shop in Brockton. Two mechanics there looked it over and said the tire rods were solid, no problems. They brought it over to the alignment shop where another mechanic checked it. Guess what? He said it was fine. And they were able to do the alignment. Total cost? $59.95. Cuddy Automotive in Brockton may be a trip for people in Weymouth but at least they won't get taken for a ride by JB Auto. read more

I'm writing this review because I was looking up JB's phone number to call them and check if my car was ready (they have it for repair), and I saw that they have only 3 stars on Yelp. I wanted to read why. I can't speak to anyone else's experience, but I have to say that I've found JB some years ago after having some poor experiences at various car centers around the quincy/braintree/milton area. I've stayed with them now through 3 cars because I trust them. Simple as that. They give me a straight answer, don't try to make money off my ignorance, and are people I can talk with to sound out a problem and solutions. No car center is perfect, but I feel this center is a good one and that the owner has integrity which spills over to how the business is run. I've found the costs reasonable---and have done some comparison shopping on a number of procedures. I'm happy, and I'll keep coming back (from some distance away) as long as I remain this satisfied. read more

The staff at the front desk is always very friendly and as helpful as they can be. That being said though I find this place tends to jack up the cost of basic services far more than what is called for. Other than their group-on specials with oil changes any relatively routine fluid flush tends to be between 60-100 more than most places. Seems uncalled for to me when you're dealing with something as simple as a power steering flush. read more

After our battery died for the second time and two other auto repair places said not only did they check for a circuit drain and found nothing, but we just had the bad luck of multiple defective batteries, we brought our car to JB Auto. They diagnosed a bad blue tooth module, which apparently is a problem in Acuras, replaced it and dealt with a third party warranty service on our car so I had minimal out of pocket costs. Solved the problem, handled it quickly and at a low cost to me. Now I take all my cars here. These guys are great! read more

JB Auto definitely tried to scam me, do not go there! Went in for a simple inspection sticker and was a few days overdue. They came out and said they could not pass the inspection because I needed new tires really badly, said they'd "do me a favor" by not putting a reject sticker on the car, and they would get the tires in so I could have them replaced the next day. Luckily I decided to go to the dealership (Where I get my car serviced), and they told me I definitely did not need new tires! The car only has 20,000 miles on it so I didn't see how I could possibly need new tires. They definitely were just trying to scam me into spending over $500 there! read more

I had a horrible experiences and later found out others I knew had similar things happen to them at JB. Being told I needed costly repairs I did not. I went for a drip and they checked my car and the guy seemed to have trouble finding the spot but then sent me to the front desk and there I'm told my whole rack is bad about $1000!! I said I would wait, and questioned how they came up with that when I watched the guy and he seemed to not be finding the leak, now you say a rack. The desk guy gets snotty and tells me the guy took a screwdriver and poked a hole in the boot that protects some front end joints from dust dirt etc and there was fluid in it meaning the rack. He got really rude with me when I said I didn't have that much money and would wait. He tried to scare me saying how dangerous it was to drive it. Lucky I didn't listen and left. When I went to a another place recommended to me they easily found it was just a $20 hose leaking, that was all, not $1000 rack. I was out the door for under $50. I was also told by another place if they had put a hole in that boot like they said that would have been a bad thing to do. It's been over a year since that hose was changed and the rack is still fine!! Another time before this I had them do work on my car and they broke the bolts to the skid plate under the front of the car and just left it hanging off, I noticed they tried to say it was always like that, I knew it was not and had not been hanging off I spoke to the manger and he made them use zip ties to secure the skid plate back on. Have a problem, or question them (even when it's obvious they are trying to rip you off) and they become very rude. The mechanics get rude if they make mistakes and you question them on it, or they have to fix their mistake. If you are a woman, older, unfamiliar with car's etc., beware. read more

Biggest RIP OFF ON THE PLANET-----BEWARE OF FALSE STARS I wont give them 5 stars for a free oil change like so many here. I went in to get my inspection only to have the tech tell me my car needed a new tie rod or it wouldn't pass, 280 bucks later , he tells me oh your water pump is leaking it doesn't have to be replaced today but in the next week or so definitely. his estimate in writing ( I have the proof, if you wish) is 1579.00 , the charge alone for the water pump he has at 289.00 , I got a second opinion, friends recommended sams auto in Weymouth landing, they did the work, and changed the timing belt which is recommended and easier when you do a water pump, all totaled for 770.13$ or more than half the cost, and the water pump by the way sams charged me 41.24$ 240 dollars less the JB's extreme markup. My wife went to jb's the same day as she needed front brakes, her quote was 420.00$ sams did the job for 170.00$ way more than half. Then im talking to some people at a business near JB and I find out all these stories, like one guy went in for a new battery and after he gets the car back, his dashboard lights start flashing when he goes over bumps, so he brings it to JB and they tell him oh they have to take the whole dash off and order a whole new electrical panel cost estimate over 1800.00 , well he decides to get a second opinion, goes up the street ( wont say where this time) but the mechanic looks at it and says it looks like someone sliced a piece off one of the wires coming from his wiring harness under the dash, and it was a nice clean slice so all he did was put some liquid plastic cover up on the wire and all fixed, didn't even charge him. Next guy says he brought his car in for an oil change and lube and he gets his car and suddenly the drivers side window wont go down, ( electric) , so he brings it to jb and they don't even look at it the guy walks to the car flicks the switch then says yeah needs a whole new window motor, cost over 400 bucks. the guy leaves goes to his dealer , the mechanic there asks him who took the door panel off, he responds by saying no one, why? the mechanic says well someone took the door panel off recently and they even left two clips off and they were sitting just under the front seat. he takes the panel off and the wire connector to the window motor has been disconnected. he reconnects it puts the panel back on and no problem. Certainly looks like JB is "manufacturing jobs " as well as price gouging. And I do have all the paperwork, estimates if anyone doubts me. read more

These guys are really honest and helpful. I brought in my car after spending $50 up the street to find out what my check engine light was for, only to hear it would cost me and arm and a leg to fix. After hearing that I decided to get a second opinion at JB auto. Not only did they do a free diagnostic test but they also found a simple solution for my check engine light. Thanks guys! read more

Awesome customer service my lug nuts where over torqued after tire rotation and I like to do my own brakes so a few snapped when trying to take them off they replaced them for me with no hesitation free of charge never even try to blame me like most mechanics would read more

I was a regular customer for oil changes and routine maintenance and was always very pleased. Yesterday however, my wife took our car in for oil change. At about 4:30 pm the salesman phoned me and said I needed 4 tires. I said I would think about it. He told me he would discount if I did the job that day and additionally if I found a cheaper price he would price match. On that basis I told him to go ahead and do the job. I went to the website and found that Town Fair Tire sold the exact same tire and offered the exact same conditions for less money. I immediately emailed him this information asking for the difference to be credited back to my account. Paul responded to me the next morning saying he could not refund the difference because, 1. he bought the tires from Town Fair Tire and 2. the policy is you need to present a written estimate PRIOR to buying tires at JB Auto Care. My experience left me thinking that I was a victim of an unfair and deceptive business practice over just a few dollars and that is not sitting right with me. Watch out!!! read more

I work in customer service and can be very difficult to please so a 5 star review is a big deal for me! My fiancé and I went to JB Auto for a small job and were both extremely impressed at the service we received. We were greeted warmly by Steve went we first walked in and our interaction with him only improved from there. Hands down one of the nicest, friendliest and most helpful people I have ever encountered. He was clearly very passionate and knowledgeable about cars. Best of all, my fiancé recently bought a used truck that had some issues and was somewhat regretting his purchase. After talking to Steve about the truck and how he (Steve) felt that it was a great buy, my fiancé walked away 10 times happier with his purchase than the dealership itself ever made him. JB Auto now has customers for life strictly because of the service we received from Steve. This place will be our go-to from now on! read more

Only 1 star because I can't give zero stars, every time I bring my car in there, 4 times total so far, and by so far I mean 4 times total and no more ever, no less than 1 month does something else major break that has not been giving me problems before I took it there, prices are way too high, and on top of that I had to take it to another shop to finish the job because they "missed" something whenthey fixed it. The shop I took it to said they had no clue how they could have missed it since it was part of the repair I paid then to do. All had to do with my front end. Absolute scam of a shop, told me an engine swap would be 4 days work and cost2k+ without the cost of the engine, which they had a "guy" that could supply one for 1300 when everyone I looked up online was 600 with the same 1 year warranty they offered. Such a rip off, don't go there they are nice to your face but scam you behind your back. read more

I've had two bad experiences at JB Auto. Both times I brought my car in for an oil change and tire rotation. The first time, I had a noticeable scuff on my rim and after the service was complete, I notice that the tire was in the same position. I questioned whether they had rotated the tires, and they insisted they had. I gave them the benefit of the doubt. The second time, I had a slow leak in one of my tires and the low tire pressure light was on. They advertise a multi-point inspection in addition to the oil change and tire rotation, so I was surprised when the light was still on after the service was complete. A couple of days later, the low-pressure light came back on and the same tire, in the same position was low on air. This confirmed that they don't in fact rotate the tires as advertised. Furthermore, within a couple of days of the service, I heard a metal on metal grinding when I applied the brakes. I brought the car in to another shop and they pointed out that I had a stuck brake caliper and the brake pad was completely worn down to the metal. JB Auto might advertise a oil change, tire rotation and multi-point inspection, but it is false advertising. I'm never going back. read more
