Came here for dinner. We only did hot pot. While the service was fine and the initial order came out quick whenever we added more items it did take a longer to come. The food was fresh but the soup was just so so. The tomato broth while flavorful was very oily. Overall we had a good time and would go back

Hey folks, this is not your ordinary BBQ & Shabu. Such a big place to satisfy MANY BBQ & Shabu lovers! The vibe at JBBQ is at another level. I love the high ceiling, it dramatically changes the dining experience. Imagine feeling suffocated while trying to enjoy your BBQ & Shabu? They really nailed the point on why people dine out for BBQ & Shabu. BECAUSE OUR HOUSES just aren't BUILT FOR THEM. On my first visit, I learned about JBBQ's time limit, it didn't sound so welcoming at first. But, it is to get the restaurant moving, so it's completely understandable. The time limit is sufficient for casual dining for say, 2-4 people, but for big groups, it may require some designated grill chefs and orderers to meet the time constraints. I also saw they don't go easy on the drinks either! They have their standard! Get one of their fun drinks while you're there. And they also show their love for their customers. Make sure you pick up your free ice cream cup on your way out, it's right next to the sauces. Shout out to David, I always want to sit where he's waiting because the staff's ability also plays a big role in meeting JBBQ's time constraints. Had an awesome time, JBBQ. "We'll BE BACK."

This is one of my favorite restaurants for hot pot and Shabu shabu. It has an excellent variety of foods to order. The staff is so catering to needs and always makes me feel welcome. Every time I've gone, I've always been sat immediately and the staff take the time to get to know you! I've yet to have a bad experience.

Went here with my girlfriend the day after Valentine's Day, it was our first time doing this type of thing and it was amazing! The food was soooo good! It's all you can eat, but you can only order 5 items at a time. I was confused by that at first but then i realized how it worked. The servers are very attentive and fast! The spicy soup is so good and lives up to the name because it had me sweating and usually I can handle any type of spice! 10/10 would recommend! Amazing experience

All you can eat.. JBBQ and Shabu. It's a good deal between $34 and $38. Ultimately it's just a few dollars more to do both, instead of just one. Service was just ok. Seemed so odd because you're doing the cooking and the kitchen is like 5 feet away. They are delivering raw food, so it's not like it's cooked to a special requests. I hope service improves. The food was good. Hard to say it's great, since you're just getting raw stuff that you grill yourself, mostly. The experience is fun. You can have a good time just being social with your table and grilling. We ate so much. Everything is included in the price, even the appetizers. Gyoza, edamame, rice, etc. The inside is modern and spacious. Of course you will come out smelling like grill. I will be back, but mostly for the social aspect of grilling and eating together.

Takoyaki SUCKS -- bf threw up do NOT try.

This place.... Sucks? You have to cook the entire meal yourself. It's such a waste of time when you're ALREADY hungry. It's a great gimmic for people that want to entertain kids with an activity while they eat or for couples that are bored with each other and need to have some sort of excuse to ignore each other. You're busy cooking the entire time. Sweating over a grill. Turn away NOW. I got lured here for the alleged "all you can eat" lunch that captivated a coworker for the low price of $22. We're a group of 6 people, one person had been there before and the rest of us were clueless. We were there for the lunch for the "all you can eat". THE SERVER was also clueless; he couldn't handle explaining the gist to 6 people. His job clearly was to make sure to cut people off at FIVE items per order. Keep that in mind: You can only order 5 of the items on the menu at a time. It's summer in July; I didn't want HOT soup so I decided not to do hot pot and just do the 'bbq' part. Whatttt a mistake! I had FIVE items I was allowed to order. My friend (with experience) ordered both the hot pot and the bbq and orders 10 items right off the bat so he has a buffet of food in front of him. Sounds great? The guy was sweating the entire time trying to get the ingredients into the pot (separate the food trays from the others orders since the server just threw everything everywhere and let us figure it out), trying to regulate the steam heat and then bbq the other half of food-- and share the grill space with two other people. It was a hot cluttered mess. I was HAPPY not to be on that side. For my FIVE items I didn't want to just order meats (although it seems like the savy thing to do) so I got marinated short ribs, head off shrimp, spicy calamari, onions and zucchini. Trash. The zucchini is way too thick, same for the onion, they sat on the grill the entire time trying to get cooked. The calamari was chewy; NOTHING spicy about it. The shrimp was tasteless, unwashed & DIRTY. (Yeah people check your shrimp for poop.) The short ribs (2 of us ordered them; my gf could NOT eat them! They went to the... trash!) I ate them because it was the only thing I had available but they were fatty, chewy and slimy. I had to spit out into a napkin every other bite. Accumulation of? TRASH! The brat server finally comes back; half the table starts with what they need; he gets overwhelmed and leaves before the rest of us could order. Was there a limit to only a FIVE ITEM reorder for 6 people??? I quickly ordered an alcoholic juice pouch drink thing since he's walking away fast. I'm starving so I take one huge sip when it arrives and the pouch was empty. It's another gimmic: a bag of ice and a huge fake light up ice cube with 1 shot and juice filler. I felt nothing but starvation. Desperate when the brat server finally came back to the table for the third time; I ordered a fried rice. Two other people chime in they want rice too. The brat server looked AGGRAVATED like WHY or HOW could we possible want rice?? Like he forgot our side of the table didn't re-order ANYTHING. How can we be hungry??? NOT one of us got a second or third serving of ANY food besides this fried rice! We were disgusted and needed something stable at this point. Fried rice tasted like white rice with food coloring in it. I also order 2 sets of the takoyaki balls because I'm STARVING-- I NEED COOKED FOOD. My bf had 2 and then felt sick! (He barfed 5 min after we left!!!) It's not like me to not take pictures of everything--- this experience was so hectic I could not think of my phone. I did watch a family get up and take pictures after their meal which I'm sure they probably would have enjoyed it all together during their meal but the brat servers are clueless about welcoming clientele properly. None of the staff offered to take their photo (a family of almost 8) it wasn't busy & they stood in the middle of the restaurant extending their arms trying to get everyone in the shot. I sat there in disbelief that no one came to offer to help; it's such a gentle gesture that helps promote your business & creates a new tradition with a family. But probably not going to exist for JBBQ. This is a one trick pony. The party gratuity was $40 automatically added for 6. I literally laughed like what did I just pay $55 dollars for?? An ice sack, 2 eatable pieces of short rib, a handful or shrimp, 3 pieces of onion, 2 pieces zucchini, a pathetic excuse for rice and takoyaki that made us throw up? Awesomeeee. What a swindle. I have ONE picture of this dining experience & I post it to prove that I was, in fact, there for the lunch special, on a random day, that wasn't busy (it rained actually & they have a hole in the ceiling where it leaked right next to our table) and this meal SUCKED. I recommend it to NO ONE. "What are you guys going to do after this?" Get REAL FOOD & NEVER come back.

Our favorite place to come to celebrate, we always enjoy the fresh food and the amazing sauce bar they have here. We had the pleasure having David as our server and he made the experience 10x's better. He was attentive and very friendly. We've tried the bayshore location and feel the smithtown one has more variety! Also get the complimentary ice cream!! Coffee flavor is my favorite

We decided to try something new after my son raved about this spot and arrived at JBBQ & Shabu Shabu in Smithtown. It's friday night, we were able to walk right in and snag a table. The walking in part, the shabu hits you all at once. The music is loud but the music is not good. It's more like blaring music that one would hear when you start at an escape room. There's a big bar to the right and a sauce cart to the right. Who knew there was a need for all these sauces? Peanut, Soy, Sriracha sauce and something else that is probably didn't try. Then there are the tables. Each table has a mini stove as well as warmers for the hot pots if you are choosing to go in that direction. Either way, the concept is simple, AYCE within 90 minutes. Meats, veggies, fruit and the timer is set when you sit down. My wife is not a ramen-hot bowl with a bowl of noodles type of customer. She was excited to try a bunch of veggies to grill as well as assorted proteins. To start, we ordered dumplings, shumi and spring rolls. The spring rolls looked different than what we've been enjoying for decades. They tasted fake and I wasn't a fan. The other starters were good, fan! Now we have to start cooking! They bring over a huge pot of Bok Choy that we laid over the entire grill. They tasted great as well as the huge mushrooms. The proteins, the short ribs and shrimp were star players. All of the other meats were fatty and gnarly. After we ate those meats, we felt full but not in a good way. We were both off until the next afternoon. Some customers love this spot and love cooking for themselves. The concept IMHO is not for us so I say thank you JBBQ Shabu, peace out!

Everything was delicious, perfectly prepared, and served with professionalism from start to finish. We went with the Carnivore Belly package and added skirt steak, wings, and a mix of sides. The BBQ was outstanding - meaty tender ribs, juicy pulled pork, burgers and dogs grilled to perfection. The wings were crisp and flavorful, and the fryer setup stole the show with piping-hot fries and onion rings that guests couldn't stop talking about. Even the sides (macaroni salad, harvest salad) were fresh and balanced out the richness of the BBQ perfectly. Booking, setup, cooking, serving, and cleanup were all handled smoothly. Our guests raved about the food, and we were able to just enjoy the day. It was the best of both worlds - the taste of authentic BBQ with none of the stress of doing it ourselves. Highly recommend Big Belly for anyone looking to elevate their party or gathering. They absolutely made our event unforgettable. My belly is certainly happy, and now big too.

For some people who may not know this is a "Japanese" BBQ & Shabu Shabu. For some of you that may not know what Shabu Shabu. Basically, you get to cook variety of meats and vegetables in a pot of broth, and you can create your own dipping sauce for additional flavors. First off... I'm sorry I don't really see any "Japanese" influences in their selection of foods. Definitely more so on their Korean, Chinese more so. But that's just my opinion. These days BBQ & Hot Pot is the new rave. It's a thriving all you can eat kind of business. Only difference is who has better selections? If I say Commack vs Flushing. Flushing wins hands down all the time. BUT! For where they are no real competitors, I'd say they have a fair selection of choices. Service was spectacular, food was fresh, sauces were your typical selections depending on how you like it and free little ice creams at the end of it all! The rest of the food were mostly misses, the worst being the Kalbi. The flavor was a little too sweet but in a teriyaki sauce kind of way, not the Korean pear/sugar/soy sauce way. The seafood pajeon was too burnt and did not have any seafood, almost all batter. The banchan was ok but the kimchee was a little too ripe. Service was a little show because they were short staffed according to our waiter. So all in all, just not a great experience.
