Old refrigerated Pansit Canton. I got this thought it's new but it's cold.

Don't buy the food like this. This are their leftovers and put to the fridge and then put it outside. Then put it back again in the fridge. It's old. They should cook new everyday. Panis na !!!!!!!

Pretty good bakery for Filipino goods. I wouldn't have known about this bakery if not for Fiesta Barbecue and Bibingka that's located in the same strip. While I was waiting for my food at Fiesta Barbecue, I decided to step into Jbj's bakery and check them out. Get whatever is fresh out of their ovens or fryer. The ukoy, lumpia, and turon all make for great snacks. I've also gotten different things from their fridge or prepared foods section.

This is the ginataan I poured into a soup bowl at home. Meh

The Good 1. They bake everything on premises, not trucked in like Dunkin Donuts and a lot of Chinese Dim Sum places. 2. Friendly efficient staff 3. Good pan de sal, ube halaya (both better when heated), and various rice flour deserts like cucinta, sapin-sapin The Bad 1. Not fond of their turon: fried lumpia shell with burro or Saba banana with a teeny langka strip 2, Not fond of their ginataan: coconut milk and sugar base with various fresh and preserved fruits such as burro banana, ube, langka, etc. I would probably rate them 3.5 but rounded to 4. I totally support the smaller chains of bakeries, especially when they bake their own. There's a freshness that is lost when you sell day old or frozen then defrosted stuff (McDonalds and Carls Jr. bakery stuff as well as Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts and many Chinese dim sum places). Here you can see the employees in the back sweating near the ovens, stoves, and steamers so there is no chef fashion show like on TV. Today, the counter person was watching a Filipino entertainment show (which is more tolerable than the overly dramatic (someone is an infidel and/or dies Filipino soaps) gag) LOL/ Anyway service was prompt and friendly,. apologizing for selling out of some stuff I wanted. Their turon this day was too long and thin , and too much lumpia wrapper fried - it wasn't like that a few other times I'd been there. Am sorry I didn't take a picture but after two bites I tossed it. It is crispy and sweet with candied brown sugar. But inside I much prefer they use the larger cooking bananas, that when fully ripe, is sweeter and juicier than the hard, not too sweet smaller cooking (burro) banana they use. When I make it, the banana and larger langka pieces take over, here they're an afterthought. Their ginataan is pretty to look at. But again it's that hard banana and hard casava they use. I prefer it with the better big fully fully ripe cooking banana and orange colored more colorful and sweeter yams. And they're purple yam is too purple...Filipino manufacturers use purple dye too much. Why not leave it the color God hand intended? Otherwise, glad to see a real bakery,, not just a places that sells baked goods.

Some pick ups for today- baked siopaos, pan de ube, and a mocha roll

Jbj's bakery has been here for over 20 years! Jbj will always have a special place in my heart because that's where I met my best friend since 2nd grade and I love their baked siopaos since I was in elementary school. Jbj sells not only Filipino baked goods, but also Filipino food. My husband loves their palabok and their spaghetti. I always have to order 4 baked siopaos. They have baked and steamed pork or chicken siopao and you can't pick which one because they're both delicious. I also have to get kutchinta and leche flan because that's my husband's favorite, and you can't forget their pan de ube and FRESH pan de sal! Jbj not only has a special place in my heart, but also been a staple in my family. My dad loves their pianono which is like a Filipino sponge cake and their kepeng which is like a Filipino cracker with brown sugar. My lolo(grandpa) and my aunts stops by and gets their pan de ube which is a pan del sal with ube inside. Price is reasonable and the parking in the plaza can be a hit or miss depending on the time you go since there is a school near by. I recommend JBJ's bakery to anyone that wants or craves Filipino goods. There was a time where I was working night shifts in Downey, and I couldn't go home because I was craving for a siopao. So imagine..leaving work from Downey at 8am and head to Carson to get some Filipino goodies before heading home in Long Beach to get some sleep before working at night again...That's how good...Support local businesses!

I only went here because I was waiting for my food at Poke Etc a few doors down. When I walked inside I saw the bread section against the wall. And I started grabbing things! Got the pan de sal bag. Pan De ube. Some jelly looking item. And the coconut puto. I didn't get to eat it till I got home. And then I started eating the bread at home by itself. Made sandwiches with it. Gave some to my kids. I cleared it all out. So good!

First and last time going there ! Didn't notice it when I started eating it until I took the aluminum foil off.

    Hopia Hapon
    Akemi I.

Been to this place twice when visiting my doctor next door. I've had their Hopia hapon, ube/cheese pan de sal and pan de ube which were all good. I wouldn't say this was a place to go out of your way for but if I'm the area and want some Filipino baked goods then it's good. There are no prices listed anywhere though for anything which is a bit annoying but there's a sign that's says you will get charged $0.75 for any purchase if you use a credit card other than cash. The Hopia hapon is $4 each so that's like $1 per in a package for reference. It's a bit pricey so take it as you will. And when I bought the pan de ube, Hopia hapon, and ube cheese pan de sal my total was $11-$12. I've been to Red Ribbon Bakeshop and it was cheaper, so I'd recommend that place over this one if I'm being honest

They have the best hopiang hapon! But I went today, and they only have it on certain days. Pandesal is good too, but not as fresh as Valerios. I'm don't like the hopiang mongo, but the ensaymada was excellent! 11-4-2019

Kepeng! I really like it but please next time dont burn it
    Islymm S.

I keep on coming back because of the kepeng but can I suggest pleaSe sometime the kepeng is over cooked its burn "sunog" so don't over cooked it, the pianono its super i like Well everything i like it

These are the best macaroons you will ever taste. My favorite are the Nutella filled ones. Very delicious and their price for the dozen is unbeatable.

    Purple yam rolls
    Felicia E.

I happen to walk in here bc I smelled sweet bread. I was greeted by customers and employees because I am pretty sure many black people don't come in, bc it's an Asian bakery; but it was a pleasant experience. These purple yam rolls, Ooommmggg. I tasted it on my way out to my car,by the time I got to my car, I went back and bought another pack. So addicting. It comes with 6 rolls for $2.60.. not a bad deal. A lot of homeless people can be feed . Buy one for you and the other for someone less fortunate, so at least someone can enjoy the rolls like you will .

Expiration date is 2/16, sad to say that I throw 3 pcs. of bread, there's mold already, please make it sure your DATE

You shouldn't come here and eat their macarons so there are more for me. So incredibly good. Light, flavorful, basically they are perfect.

They were okay. Nothing special in all honesty. I'd give them more of 3.5 stars. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't the greatest either.

Empanadas were a little bland...need more spices (salt and pepper) and too mushy.

Expect a line, always. If there's a wait, that just means they're busy and always in demand of fresh breads! I highly suggest coming in the morning versus afternoon because they will run out. If you do need huge quantities, then preorder. There's only one cash register at all times, hence the long wait. Be patient! (: I've been going to this Valerio's since childhood. This is our go-to for fresh pandesal! My parents and relatives always bought from here. I especially love ordering from their glass shelves! There's Turon, Suman, Eggrolls, hopia, empanadas..the choices are endless! They always offer pancit, pandan, bilo-bilo, nilupak, palitaw, Puto bumbong, puto flan and more! It's hard to pick just one favorite since everything is so delicious! Few key notes: * There's a small free private parking lot and it is almost never 100% full even during busy hours. * While the bakery closes at 7 PM, come before lunch hours to get the full selection of baked goods and refrigerated sandwich options; otherwise, many of these items sell out before closing time. * Plenty of indoor tables, but no outdoor seating. * S-tier items: strawberry croissant, sticky bun, steamed pork bun. * A-tier items: half turkey avocado sandwich, pork katsu sandwich box, matcha cake * B-tier items: almond croissant, drip coffee.
