I got takeout for my girlfriend and I on 2/14/2014 and was pleasantly surprised. It seemed like it'd just be a cheapo quick food kind of place, but was actually pretty good. Other reviews commented on the size of the portions, well perhaps that's changed because we got really large portions. I ordered the General Tso's chicken and she ordered the Sesame chicken. We also got an order of egg drop soup. They threw in a free order (six!) cheese wontons! At first I wondered about how good of a deal it'd be but the portions were so large we each got two and a half meals off of the total ($21). I see it has two "$$" for the price, I think that's off, given the amount of food you get. As far as the taste, sure, a place like 888 Bistro or Pei Wei might be a little better, but this place was still excellent for the price and location (very close to us). The food was very hot and fresh. The chicken was likely a prepackaged product but the vegetables and rice were obviously cut up and made in house. Great little spot for a regular meal. For around this area, the Chinese food is pretty good. However, I think it's been "Americanized," in which I mean it's heavy with oils and more meat than veggies. Although, I still give it 4 stars, because all that I described does not stop me from ordering on a fairly regular basis. We tend to do delivery instead of eating in, but that's because we generally order when it's raining. We tip the driver extra for his trouble. We always get: sweet and sour chicken with fried rice and beef lo mein with an added order of steamed rice. I used to order a lot of pad thai, but I stuck with my go-to favorite dish. This results in a free delivery for us, due to the bill amount. Do bear in mind that it's a family business helping each other out, so sometimes the one answering the phone might be one of the kids, parents, or relatives, with fluctuating English speaking skills. We like giving business to local eateries than chain restaurants. But this place just does not make the cut. We ordered delivery here once and tried a LOT of menu items. The quality of ingredients is definitely not good and you can taste it in the food. We ordered and asked for the 'free crab ragoons' that they advertise on their take out menus. They gave us 2 orders (we asked for 1), one was free and the other one we got charged for on the receipt. We called back to correct this and they didn't do squat about it and are very hard of understanding.... Delivery driver also took forever. When we called to asked the ETA after an hour (they are 5 minutes down the road from us) they said 'oh we busy, very soon". I don't understand how they've been in business so long. Maybe giving them one chance isn't enough of a fair shot but the food is not worth even trying again. read more

I would've given this restaurant five stars if not for the smaller portions than what I'm used to. This restaurant is rather small with just maybe just under 10 tables. We went right around the lunch hour so I expected it to be busy but there was only two occupied tables, which was a bit alarming to me. I was able to order and pick up within 15 minutes. I ordered the general tso chicken with steamed rice and the house special lo mien. It came out to be about $19 (portions were a little small). Definitely pleasantly surprised with our food! This is used to be a place where the chinese food was exceptional! Not sure what changed but I ordered shrimp fried rice, fried wontons and supposedly sweet and sour chicken. The rice was the only thing I could identify as something fit for human consumption. It was very bland but I added seasoning. The rest of the order went in thee trash. Great place for quick takeout or delivery. Definitely more bang for your buck when ordering during lunch hours. Every time I have ordered the sweet and sour shrimp as a lunch combo it's always really freshly fried and at least 6 pieces. The rice isn't super flavorful but I always use a lot of soy sauce anyways. read more

I had tofu and vegetables and vegetable lo mein which both tasted fresh and flavorful; the lo mein noodles were especially good and I would highly recommend it. JB's Chinese Cafe used to be a very good place to eat that was close to home. Their prices were excellent for the portions you received. Sadly this is no longer the case. Their beef is gelatinous for lack of a better word. The chicken doesn't look like chicken and has a rubbery texture. Their fried rice is NOT fried rice. If i had to guess I would say that it is curry rice. It looks yellow and tastes awful. They barely give you any white rice, which is confusing considering how much rice costs. They don't keep the restaurant very clean and they routinely mess up orders. I've found hair in my food a few times and once even found a staple in my food. It saddens me that such a good restaurant has fallen so far. read more

Wow....ordered Shrimp Pad Thai....having ordered this dish in California many times. It was always served with thin silver noodles (rice) with egg and tomatoes. I got some horribly flavored shrimp over thick chow fun noodles, no egg or tomatoes. I tore up their menu, I've given this place too many tries to provide good/okay food. All I eaten was subpar mediocre food, served in a non-traditional unflavored way. I'm done! read more

Recently moved close to this restaurant with the boyfriend and decided to give this place a try tonight. We were pleasantly surprised. I've seen several reviews here complaining that the restaurant is unclean, the food disgusting, and they found hair in their food. I ordered the orange chicken with fried rice and my boyfriend got the chicken lo mien. Both were pretty sizable portions, especially for the low price. The fried rice was seasoned lightly with cinnamon, which was pretty tasty. We found no hair or staples in our food(and I pay close attention since I found hair in my pancakes at Cracker Barrel about 8 years ago.) The restaurant was VERY clean and the family running it was friendly. Sometimes people have unrealistic expectations of family-run businesses and I doubt many of the 1 or 2 star reviews are authentic. Or even written by sane people(do you really expect us to believe you'd go back multiple times if you found a staple in your food, dude?) We will be eating here regularly! Seen this place and checked yelp reviews. Some hit and miss reviews so decided to try them out. Ordered the general tso's chicken lunch special good priced. Big wonton soup hot and delicious. Small egg roll unfortunately, the entree was not good at all I do not recommend the general tso's due to the fact that it is 90% breading and 10% meat. Thought would be good due to their menu online showed it to look different. Three out of five rating due to main entree not appetizing. read more

OK, so we decided to give JB's another go. The first time we ordered from there the food was very bland and we said we wouldn't eat there again. But it was a Friday night, we were hungry for Chinese and JB's is right down the street. The Orange chicken my boyfriend ordered tasted a lot better then the last time he ordered it, and my almond chicken was very good. Maybe they were just having an off day the first time we ate there? The delivery was also very fast, they told us 45 minutes and it was more like 20, but then again we do live just right down the street. read more

The food is OK, but my last experience there has made it my last visit. If the two large roaches crawling across the floor weren't bad enough, there was also the loud rap music with the "singer" belting out the "F" and "S" words while people were trying to dine. Too bad there's no option for zero stars. We got a JB's menu stuck in our doorknob one day... I'm not a complete curmudgeon yet, so I find people leaving what I consider to be trash on my front door only mildly annoying, but the wife is excited to see a "new" Chinese restaurant that delivers to our neighborhood and is eager to try it. I wasn't particularly hungry that night, so I just ordered a large Won-Ton Soup and the wife ordered Chicken with Broccoli (if memory serves). We didn't check the order before the driver left, but it turns out we also received an order of Crab Rangoons. Bonus, right? Turns out that the Crab Rangoons aren't the only things I got for dinner that I didn't order. I'm really an easy-going guy. In traffic, I'm usually the guy that will let you go in front of me. I have a friend that will send back her green beans if they aren't hot enough and then send them back again if they're too hot. I'm not that guy. So when I opened my soup and found a long, curly blonde hair swimming right on top, I pulled it out and set it on a napkin. Stuff happens in the kitchen. I love to cook. I taste things with a spoon that goes back into the pot. Stuff falls out onto the counter and I put it back on the plate. I don't want to live in an antiseptic world and I can deal with a stray hair. When I bite into the first Crab Rangoon and nearly choke on ANOTHER long, curly blonde hair, my understanding kind of reaches its limit. I'm done with the meal -- no soup for me! The wife's chicken dish, while hairless, was also flavorless. We've tossed the JB's menu and the food (and hair) where they belong -- in the trash. read more

I live right down the road from this place and I really like it. The food is good, the prices are good, and I always see smiling faces! Every time I've been in, whomever is behind the desk looks up and seems genuinely happy to see me. It feels nice after a long day of work. Plus, the food is so good! And good portions! This place was atrocious. First of all, for 3 extra dollars.....we upgraded fried rice to shrimp fried rice........for only 3 shrimp! Our general Tso chicken tasted soggy like it was days old and they just nuked it in the microwave. My pepper steak was mushy, definitely not fresh. And let's not forget we were bribed with extra soup and egg rolls if we left a good review before hand. We love JB's! Our favorite is the fried rice. Other than that we always order Kung Pao Chicken and General Tso's when we decide to grab it for dinner. We have enough left for lunch the next day. Will always be continual customers if we're in the mood for some excellent chinese. read more

I have had a lot of Chinese food I've never had Chinese food that was this terrible. Flavorless teriyaki beef doesn't taste like anything but dried meat the Sesame beef was not cooked it was fairly raw. I ordered fried rice and got steamed rice. Never again, disgusting. read more

Not pleased at all. From the bland wonton, to the garlic chicken that was so packed with garlic it burned, not good. Even the fortune cookie tasted like cardboard. We cancelled an order for delivery because the person taking the order was so rude. I ordered two family dinners. He did not hear this and proceeded to ring me up for two entrees. When I tried to clarify, he scolded me, telling me I needed to let him know I ordered a family dinner up front. When I asked for clarification about something else on the menu, his attitude was very condescending, as if he were spelling out his answer. I am expected to be professional in my own job, and when I am paying for goods or a service, I expect the same. There are plenty of restaurants in our area. I got delivery, so I don't know what it is like fresh, I feel like it has to be better than this. I did not like this place at all. I ordered egg rolls, cheese puffs, beef with broccoli and general Tso's chicken with fried rice. Cons: -The beef with broccoli had little to no flavor. It seemed as though it was boiled in water and had some type of brown dye added. -The general Tso's tasted like it was once frozen, microwaved, and then microwaved again. And then it was covered in powdered sugar, water, and red dye. -The cheese puffs were bland and had a thick sugar red dyed sauce to go with it. -The fried rice was basically boiled rice with tiny bits of fried egg in it. Pros: -The egg rolls were standard small and crispy. They remind me of Panda Express (If that can be thought of as a pro). -Lastly, the beef with broccoli had a lot of broccoli, which I feel is a good thing, even if it was basically boiled. I do NOT recommend this place. This is the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. read more
