We stopped in for a business dinner expecting prime service and top-tier execution. While the steaks themselves were properly cooked, the rest of the meal fell completely flat. The appetizers and sides had a pre-made, mass-catered quality--closer to a chain like Chili's than a high-end steakhouse charging premium prices. Service was sluggish throughout the night. San Antonio's steakhouse market is wildly competitive right now. With so many incredible local spots delivering exceptional food and flawless service at this price point, Ruth's Chris simply isn't keeping up. The first issue was using the InKind app. We spent about 10 minutes trying to figure out how to use it because ordering ahead wasn't working, and none of the employees seemed familiar with the process. One employee was patient, friendly, and genuinely tried to help us figure it out, which I appreciated. After finally placing our order, we were told it would take about 15 minutes. Instead, we waited roughly 40 minutes, and didn't receive our food until 11:00 p.m., right at closing. I understand we came during the last hour before closing, which is why I specifically asked if we had enough time. If the kitchen was backed up or our order was going to take 40+ minutes that late in the evening, I would have completely understood. I just wish we had been told that up front instead of being quoted 15 minutes. By the time we received our food, it was closing time. Thankfully we ordered it to go, because if we'd planned to eat there, we wouldn't have had the opportunity. When our food was finally ready, the bag was already ripping because something inside had leaked. The employee noticed right away, grabbed two new bags, and repacked everything, which I appreciated. We ordered quite a bit to sample the menu: the Cali Chick (lettuce wrapped), Hot Chick, Buff Chick, Little Mule, Totchos, onion strings, sweet potato fries, and a Teriyaki Chicken Caesar Wrap (which we haven't tried yet, so I can't comment on that one). Unfortunately, the food we did eat was very disappointing. The lettuce-wrapped Cali Chick was a mess--the lettuce was so wilted it couldn't even function as a wrap. The onion strings, Totchos, and sweet potato fries had all lost their crispness by the time we got them, and everything was lukewarm or cold. The Little Mule ended up being our favorite burger, while the Hot Chick definitely delivered on the spice. Ironically, the sweet potato fries were my favorite side, even though they came in the smallest portion. Our total was over $100 before the InKind discount, and I honestly wouldn't pay full price for this meal. The quality just didn't match the price. I don't know if the kitchen was short-staffed or if something else was going on that night, but waiting 40 minutes after being quoted 15 minutes--especially with almost no one else ordering--only to receive cold, soggy food was incredibly disappointing. I do want to give credit to the employee who helped us. He was polite, apologized several times for the delay, and even repacked our order when he noticed the leaking bag. Unfortunately, the overall experience and food quality just didn't live up to the price. Based on this visit, I couldn't justify spending over $100 for the experience we received. I hope this was just an off night, but it was disappointing enough that I felt it deserved a 2-star review.

The arugula was a nice touch but some was yellowing on top and there was an old wilted/dark green/slimy piece, but it was small enough to push over. I was just surprised to see that on our dish considering the cost of the dish. My husband had the Cobb salad for lunch. His salad looked nice and tasty. We were surprised to see the avocado was brown in a few places. I had the lobster shrimp roll with sweet potato fries. There was lots of lobster claw meat and shrimp. For $27, I didn't expect to see so much claw meat. The fries were the same scant handful of sweet potato fries. It would have been nice to see a more full pile of fries in both our dishes. Overall it was a good experience and the service was good. My kiddos love visiting and we will be back because of the experience of getting to look over San Antonio.
