It has been about six months since I last brought one of my vehicles to JC Motors. I wanted to wait before updating my review so I wasn't writing it while irritated. I was a loyal customer for years. Tom and Pat built an incredible shop. They knew their stuff, stood behind their work, treated customers with respect, and earned every bit of the reputation they had. I was genuinely happy for them when they retired. Unfortunately, the shop they left behind just isn't the same. Since the ownership change, I've had one frustrating experience after another, and almost all of them have involved the front office. One visit was for squeaky brakes. They inspected everything and told me my brake pads had plenty of life left and that the caliper design on my vehicle can squeak under light braking. Weird, but okay. I understood, thanked them, and hung up. A few minutes later, I got another call from the supervisor because apparently the first advisor didn't think I understood. I assured him that I did. I understood the explanation the first time. Getting called back just so someone could explain the exact same thing again felt incredibly condescending. Then came the A/C issue. My A/C makes a loud hissing noise through the vents whenever the compressor is running. They found it was low on refrigerant, added dye, and the noise disappeared... for about two days. When it came back, they cleaned a vent actuator even though they admitted it wasn't the problem. Then they told me the noise only happened when the climate control was set to Auto and suggested I just not use Auto. I explained, again, that it happened in Auto, Manual, and Defrost. Basically, anytime the A/C compressor kicked on. Their response? "Then just use Auto." At that point, I realized we weren't having the same conversation. The one person who absolutely deserves recognition is the woman who came outside afterward to talk with me. She listened, understood why I was frustrated, and treated me like a human being instead of someone who needed the same explanation repeated three different ways. She was professional, empathetic, and honestly the only reason this review isn't even lower. JC Motors isn't the shop it used to be. I no longer trust them with my family's vehicles, and I can't recommend them to friends or family anymore. I sincerely hope Tom and Pat are enjoying retirement. They built something special. I just wish that same standard of customer service had survived the ownership change. read more

DO NOT USE THIS SHOP! Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Was just given an estimate for nearly $5K in repairs on my daughter's 2017 Nissan Rogue, for BOTH bearing/hub assemblies and BOTH front lower controls arms, and TEN other services. Took it to another shop in Tualatin and was told that ONLY ONE bearing/hub needs repair and the control arms are perfectly fine! $700 out the door. I asked them to double-check and they insisted the car only needs the one repair. This is not the first time that JC Motors has done this. So my first recommendation is FIND ANOTHER SHOP. My second recommendation is GET A SECOND OPINION. My third recommendation is GET A THIRD OPINION. Really a shame when Patience and Sammy left! read more

We've customers of JC Motors going on 30 years when Pat and Tom had a single lift! When Pat and Tom retired and sold the business to the current owner, we were assured that we would continue to receive the same level of service that we received from them. Sadly, after giving the new owner 3 opportunities and each time the owner and/or staff never followed through on their promise to call with an update in a timely manner. They are an honest place and didn't try to take advantage of me. I had squeaky breaks. Brought it in and they looked at it for free. They determined that the breaks were not a safety concern. I was not pressured at all to pay to have them fixed. I now drive around with squeaky breaks but I will go back to see them when I have another car issue. read more

I've been a customer of JC Motors for at least a decade. I've recommended them to several people. They were a really good no-nonsense full service auto shop and they took care of my trucks very well. While the original owners weren't exactly the friendliest people, they were very good at what they did. Fast forward now to the new management as of 2023. I got a bizarre phone call from them, asking if I needed any service. I explained that I was a regular customer, and asked them if they could look up my service record and tell me if my truck needed service. This apparently through them off-guard, there was a very long pause, and then they said "nope, you're not due for service, bye" and hung up. Strange! I checked my sticker and it *was* due for service. Oh well. I waited 6 months, then took my truck in last week. The people running their shop were very young, perhaps teenagers or early 20s. It quickly became apparent that they had *no* clue what they were doing. But I explained that my service was over due and could they take care of that. They agreed, and I took an uber home. Didn't hear from them for the rest of the day, but then in the evening noticed that I had gotten a text message from them. Very terse, simply saying that my truck was ready (but by the time I read the text, it was already after hours), USE THE PHONE GUYS, GEEZ! The next day was a holiday, 4th of july, but the next day I looked up on their website to see if they were open, and it said they were. So I took an uber over there to pick up my truck. They weren't open!! Not even a note on the door stating their hours or when they'd be back! So I took an uber back home, very frustrated. Fast forward to the following Monday, this time I called them, verified that they were open and that my truck was ready. Took another uber over there (that's 4 uber rides for those counting). When I got there, all they wanted to do was run my credit card and hand me the keys. I requested they go over what they did and if they found any issues. They printed out a piece of paper and pushed it at me. Didn't want to talk about breaks or tires or anything you'd expect, just pay the money and leave. All the fellow wanted to do was ridicule me about how few miles my truck had based on it's year. Not smart. Anyway, that ends my saga with them. I'll find another place to take my truck. Morale of the story: customer service matters, and if a company doesn't take that seriously than people can't take them seriously. read more

Was referred here by a friend to take our 2013 Kia Sorrento in knowing it would not be a cheap fix. I was treated fairly and was kept in the loop all week. Had a great conversation when I picked it up, made a plan on the next priority repair and what to do before a trip planned for late June. I'm afraid to say that my trust in this organization has been shattered!! They tried to cheat us out of a thousand dollars by intentionally hammering the cover of our AC compressor, an act they knew would lead to the inevitable failure of the part. My wife dropped off her car with a dead battery and they charged her $700 dollars for a new battery and tune up!! A job that should have cost 2-300 then they had the audacity to claim the AC compressor was going out. When we got home we removed the tire and this is what we see!! They intentionally hammered the cover into the AC compressor in an attempt to sell my wife into buying a new compressor. read more

I am so impressed by JC motors. Their professionalism, diligence and care really made my experience. I came in for a repair that the car dealership said I urgently needed done. JC motors let me know it was not at all urgent and actually found a broken hose that was not noticed. They fixed the hose. It didn't cost an arm or leg and the work was done efficiently and quickly. I previously use this company for nearly 2 decades. I will no longer be using them because I do not need to know their political beliefs when I called to try and set up an appointment. The reason you have a list of applicants that don't want to be hired is probably because you don't pay a living or competitive wage. We lived in Tualatin for 3.5 years. JC Motors was ALWAYS our go-to for our 2 cars. Several times we called them with urgent repairs and they always managed to fit us in. JC Motors was always honest with us, had extremely good repair rates and did an excellent job. We just moved to Arizona. We called JC Motors up and asked if they'd do a final oil change and check on the car we were going to drive to make the move. (We towed the other one behind our truck.) They not only did the oil change, but they gave our car a thorough look at everything so that we knew we were in good shape for the move. AND, if that wasn't enough, they had relatives in AZ close to where we were moving and got a referral for a new mechanic for us! It is this kind of customer service that you just don't find too much of anymore, that JC Motors will provide for you. I have been going to this company for years, more than 20 years. I will not be going back. I had my car in for it's oil change, tire rotate etc. I got a call that I needed new windshield wipers and it would be $132 or something like that. I said NO, and called Wilsonville Subaru and they had them for $70. So shocked that they wouldn't even call Subaru. He said he looked all over and that was all he could find. My car is still on warranty so they weren't going to get any other money from me so I feel like they tried to make a few more $$ off me. Looking for a new mechanic!! read more

I could not be more disappointed in the customer service my daughter received when she took her Chevy Silverado in for an oil change today. She is almost 20 yrs old and doing things on her own. They took complete advantage of a young girl who didn't know better. She asked for a high mileage oil change when she made the appointment. They agreed and she got to the appointment with their coupons in hand and they said it wouldn't be the $34.95 coupon but more the $59.99. She agreed to the $60 oil change and was told it would be 45 minutes. So she went for a walk. Not one call, no communication from the shop. She returns and finds they are asking for $72.00. That isn't the $60 she was told. She is in shock and pays without too many questions. After telling her dad what happened he called and he was informed they don't do high mileage oil changes and had to pick up the oil. Not once was this information given to my daughter and she over paid. DON'T SEND YOUR WIVES, DAUGHTERS, Female friends to this shop. They will get taken advantage of. No customer service. read more

Horrible service and poorly ran business. My husband had the oil changed on our new vehicle. Their so called experienced techs handled our vehicle carelessly and broke the fuel filter housing. In the heat of going back and forth with this so called owner, he chuckled at me for citing the wrong part. He is sexist, unprofessional and should go out of business for taking advantage of people. He asked me to bring the vehicle back in. There is NO way. There has to be trust between a business and their customers. For me to agree to bring my vehicle in would be another issue they would cause and choose to bill me for. Stay clear of this place! read more

I bought a motor from these guys that I was told was all new rebuild , Apparently I should have torn it completely down and checked and measured EVERYTHING which they obviously didn't do and mismatched parts. After less than an hour of running it came apart , now I am buying new pistons and having the heads repaired at MY expense with no offer of help from them , So I spent $3200 plus the cost of new parts and repairs. read more

I called J.C. Motors today immediately after my daughter had been told by a "National Chain" oil change company that her brake fluid was low and she needed to have her brakes checked. The guys at J.C. fit us right into their schedule and checked her brakes, and fluid and made sure that everything was ok. I was told that there was NOTHING wrong with her brakes and she was good to go. Along with getting her car in right away, they didn't charge me a thing to look at it!! DON"T GET YOUR BRAKES DONE AT JC. I had JC Motors put new brakes on my 2013 Santa Fe at 68,206 miles. About a month ago they started to shake. Last week I noticed a pretty significant "clunk" when braking. My car was scheduled to have a factory upgrade performed at the dealer so I had them check the brakes too. I was told the brakes were glazed and were a poor quality pad. This had ruined the rotors as well, costing over $500. As my current mileage is only 86,455 I went in to see JC to see about some credit since they only lasted 18,000 miles. I brought one of the pads and rotors for them to inspect. I was told by one of the owners the pads were of the highest quality. No explanation about why this would of happened and he took the hard stance that since I already had the work done at the dealer there was nothing they would do. Needless to say I wont be taking any of my three vehicles back there again. It wouldn't have taken much, perhaps a $200 credit towards future work to make this right. He chose to lose future business and any referrals... His Choice! read more

Just returned from getting my oil changed at JC Motors. I love this company! I used to do all my service with them, but when I bought my new Highlander years ago, I was a sucker for the dealership service sell. After too many times of being told I needed new replacement parts and service after each and every oil change and trusting the dealership, while paying for things it turns out I may not have needed, I said "enough" and returned to JC Motors. These guys are the real deal. They are straight shooters and really care about their customers. The brake service the dealership told me I needed a while ago, has lasted until my visit today, and the cost is way less than the dealership quoted me long ago. Of course I scheduled the fix with them. Don't waste your time on dealership profit centers. Go to JC Motors. They truly care and their service is exceptional! read more

I was first greeted by a guy at the counter that acted as though he just returned from a funeral. No biggie, maybe he had a bad day but it got worse from there. If I'm going to pay a premium price for an oil change ($91.48, before coupon, for a Toyota Prius with no extra services or parts) I expect there isn't going to be grime all over my light grey cloth doors and seats. I was also misquoted by $16 (an extra 20%). The guy there then proceeds to spray the light gray cloth on my door with 409 and rubbed it in with a paper towel. I stopped him and said I'll use a steamer. When I got to my office I called and gave the manager a chance to make things right and he says I have upholstery cleaner, come back and I'll clean the seat for you. That was it. read more

This "repair" was the simple replacement of a single headlight element. This shop charged me $70.70. Upon arriving, I inquired about the shop rate the business charges customers. I was told that their shop rate is $100.00 per hour. I have watched other mechanics in other shops do this replacement in five minutes. This shop informed me that the minimum charge would be for a half hour labor, plus parts. There was no mention of any surcharge for disposal of hazardous materials. Nor was there any mention of a surcharge when I was asked for permission to proceed. It was when I was presented with a bill that I was told I was being charged a surcharge. I was informed that all customers are assessed this surcharge on every visit, regardless of whether or not their specific repair generated hazardous waste that needed to be safely disposed. I do not feel that this business is run by "straight shooters." I recommend you avoid doing business with this firm as their pricing is excessive and they seem to tack on charges that have not been prior-authorized. these guys rock and tell you the way it is ( good or bad ) I saw some of the reviews and was shocked. $70 to put in a new headlight is not bad. If you can't change your own headlight that is what it costs. They have to pay for tools, labor, taxes, and yes keep the lights on. I have taken many cars to them over the years and I have always been pleased with the service and work. Sometimes things cost money...that is way car fixes are, some cheap, some more expensive. Thye do a good job repariing your vehicle, but be prepared for some sticker shock. They are very expensive.

a few years ago I took my gmc safari into JC motors because of what i was sure was a Idle air control valve problem , told them thats what i think it was and to check it out. they charge 100 bucks to look at it, typical for most mechanic shops. they called me back with an 1800$ cost to fix various things that previous mechanics whos looked at the car had never mentioned. i asked about the AIC and they said they didnt find anything wrong with it. untrusting of the various things they wanted to fix, i only allowed 400$ of work done. they called and said it was ready so i went to get it and paid them and the old guy behind the register was pretty rude and treated me like shit. i got in the car and turned it on. it sputtered for a moment. then i turned the heater on and the car died. when i went back in the old guy told me 'tuff' because the work specified had been done. getting madder by the minute i asked to see the mechanic who worked on the car and i showed him how the car died when you put the heat on. i asked if it could be the AIC valve and he guy said, yeah, it could be actually. i asked him why they didnt look into it like i asked and he said he had no idea he was to be looking at it in the first place. embarrassed, the mechanic took the vehicle back in the shop to check it out, leaving me in the waiting area with the older guy who didnt seem to care in the slightest about me or my car. i prodded him to get my money back or at least a portion, and once again he said tuff, work was performed, end of story. no sorry for the inconvenience or anything. an hour later the mechanic gives me back the car saying he cleaned out the AIC. i started it and it still sputtered, but did not die when i put the heat on. so i left, more than an hour later for work with a vehicle that ran worse than when i gave it to them. thanks for stealing my money and screwing my car up more JC motors. people dont ever take you vehicle to these cons!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more
