My vehicle ended up at Marsh Transmission after another shop messed up the automatic transmission. Paul and his team were able to quickly diagnose the problem and recommend a course of action. I usually do auto repairs myself, but transmissions are really intricate and I didn't feel comfortable trying to do this on my own. But Paul spoke my language, made me feel like he was being completely up-front and honest, and the results speak for themselves: the transmission works better than ever now, and has for over a thousand miles. Paul also went the extra mile (well, more like 100 mi) and spent time on the phone with the other shop, their insurance company, etc. He helped convince them that the issue had ACTUALLY been caused by a faulty installation of parts, so in the end insurance covered the cost. Paul the owner is awesome knew exactly what needed to be done on my jeep wrangler when my transmission went out. He kept me in the loop via phone and text and also kept the repair bill down and then when I came back for the 500 mile checkup he was able to do it right then and there. He also let me know when the next fluid check would be and the next service. He also let me know that I could go and off-road and to let him know how my rig handles. Amazing customer service and treated me like family. My car then had starter issues which they don't do but he sent his cousin out to look at it because I was not starting he couldn't fix it on the street so got it towed and they looked at it the next morning and within 30 mins Paul called and said the starter cables were loose the tightened it up no charge and I finally have gotten to drive my jeep and get it broken it. Nearly destroyed my sons truck. Towed it there after "waiting" two weeks for an appointment. When we dropped it off my gut feeling was this was going to go bad. Spoke to Paul once who said that he would get back to us. One week later nothing.......two weeks later got a phone call saying the truck was done! Turns out it wasn't our truck! Paul then said we are "next" in line and he would get back to me the next day...... and nothing. After three weeks........we were finally fed up with these guys and we had it towed out of there. Over a month later we got our truck back 1) out of gas,2) batteries dead,3) and nothing fixed. Absolutely disgusted on how they tread me and my vehicle. Had an appointment for December 5th, they let it sit outside and didn't call me or let me know anything about what's going on for 3 weeks. No communication except for when I would call him, promises to call back we're never fulfilled. My truck sat outside for 3 weeks, my batteries were dead and would not start had to spend and extra $400 on new batteries. Had a half a tank of gas then suddenly there wer none, maybe siphoned who knows? Where'd my gas go? I eventually had enough and had to have it towed to a different shop in worse condition th I had left it in. Can not describe how much I would not recommend going to Marsh Transmissions. read more

Marsh Transmission replaced my clutch, and supposedly replaced the flywheel as well. Leaving the shop the first time after the "repair," the clutch pedal had no pressure or stiffness as expected. Took it back twice and I was told a "spring" was added to the clutch pedal. It still was punky and not like a normal clutch job, and did not work correctly. After 8,000 miles, the clutch started burning constantly. I took my vehicle to another Tualatin shop and found out that inferior and improperly fitting parts were used, and the flywheel was NOT replaced - and may not have even been resurfaced. Additionally, excessive grease was used inside the housing, as well as excessive silicone to seal up a leak. I was charged too much for an inferior job that caused me to have the clutch repaired again three years later by a shop with great mechanics - and I paid the same amount as I paid at Marsh and got a correct clutch install with new and proper slave/master and resurfaced flywheel, as well as new brakes, oil and filter change, and three new belts and tension assemblies. And it all works. Don't go to Marsh Transmission. The guy in the front office might be nice, but the work is crap. read more

These guys are terrific. They truly are as good as it gets. Its damn near impossible to find a company that still shapes their entire business model around great customer service, but Marsh does. To make a very long story short, I own a vehicle that had been experiencing transmission problems for the last few months. I took the vehicle to a few other shops (NEVER EVER GO TO CLAYON'S AUTO REPAIR IN CORVALLIS) who charged me upwards of $400 dollars to fix the problem to no avail. I drove my car up to Marsh Transmission who took a look at it for free. The owner of the company, John, went out of his way to make sure that I was taken care of for my trip to Washington. He diagnosed the problem in about 30 minutes and fixed my car right up. Best part, he only charged me for parts, no labor, and did all the work himself. $21 later and my car has never ran better. I really don't know what to say about Marsh's. The kindness that the owner showed me was so unique and generous, you just don't see that these days. If more companies operated more like Marsh's, we'd live in a totally different world. 5/5 stars, you can't get any better. Words cannot explain how much I recommend these guys. read more

Family business, GREAT shop! I got lucky and caught them at a time when they had a few extra minutes to take a look at a trans leak. The problem was an easy fix (gasket replacement) and they said they could do the work right then. Great price, friendly, professional and honest. We took our SUV here when our local shop could not figure out what was going on with the strange whirling sound it was producing when driving above 40 mph. Local shop thought it had something to do with the transmission (in which they did not specialize) and recommended we take our vehicle to Marsh. After having it assessed by Marsh, they confirmed that it was NOT the transmission (they had it for several days trying to figure things out). My Subaru Outback was driving fine but the transmission fluid light was coming on so I took it to a random shop and they said I need a new transmission, costing around $3500. Decided to get a second opinion at Marsh, and Paul and his crew quickly and accurately diagnosed a smaller problem that was fixed for a fraction of the cost ($1300 parts and labor). They could have told me the whole transmission needed replacing and I would have believed them because after all that would have been the second time I was told that. I can't give enough praise for this business. Marsh looked at my car after I showed up with my car on a tow truck at the end of a Friday! They diagnosed it and because it was going to cost more to fix than the car is worth, they consoled me on my options and even refused to take payment for all the time they spent. I'm currently car shopping and they encouraged me to call them with questions on particular transmissions (CVT's). They are extremely competent, fair priced and give back to their community. There's a reason Paul (and the team) at Marsh Transmission has so many 5 star reviews - CUSTOMER SERVICE WITH INTEGRITY...and here's proof! They may be the last honest mechanics in a segment of the industry that's notorious for ripping off customers either because of lack of ability or lack of ethics. In December of 2015 my Chrysler Town & Country van's transmission was starting to make some very wild noises. I had heard many horror stories about Transmission shops and poor workmanship (or worse). I did some checking around and discovered Marsh Transmission. I talked to Paul and their diagnosis was that I needed a major rebuild. They opened the transmission and showed me the (literally) broken parts floating around that were causing all the noise. They did their repair work (at a reasonable price). The Chrysler has an adaptive transmission so we anticipated some initial time for the transmission to adjust. However, while the transmission did smooth out over time, there was a definite random "clunk" between first and second. Talked to Paul and we decided to drive it more to see if it resolved itself. So I just kept driving about 17,000 more miles. The 1st/2nd gear issue was intermittent and I figured I could just live with it if it didn't get worse. However, a few weeks ago the car was shifting into 2nd and all hell broke loose! At first I thought I lost the entire transmission, but I discovered I could limp home in LOW at 5 mph on the side of the road. Got home and AAA'd the car to Marsh's. Here's where it gets interesting. If you've ever dealt with a repair shop on an expensive repair that went awry, you know how defensive the shop can get about the repair, ESPECIALLY a rebuilt transmission. Paul called me with the news...for whatever reason the transmission had literally imploded...welded steel gears simply broken in half! About 1 minute into the conversation Paul reassured me that this failure was under warranty and would be completely resolved without any expense to me! The sentiment was that the original replacement transmission was defective for so much damage to have occurred at such a slow speed! They proceeded to order new parts, even ADDED a new Solenoid just in case the old one had caused any problems. When Paul discovered that I had to rent a car during the duration of the repair he offered to cover part of that! I ended up splitting the rental car bill with him. I got the car back and the new transmission is smooth as silk! So when's the last time you ever had an automotive repair experience like that?! It's one thing to claim great customer service, it's another to actually LIVE IT...Marsh delivered in spades. They stood by their work (and word) and went the extra mile to ensure I was taken care of! I told my brother he should destroy his own car's transmission so he could take it to Marsh just to experience the incredible customer service (he declined). I cannot describe how amazing Marsh Transmission is at the quality of work that they do. I needed the transmission on my 1992 Ford Aerostar rebuilt and Paul and the team did an amazing job rebuilding it to heavy duty specs. Paul and his father who work there took me to the bench to do a teardown of the transmission and showed me all the parts that were broken and what needed rebuilding. When you have a local repair shop showing you the repairs they're doing, you know you've found a good one. They did whatever it took to get the job done right. While I am very pleased with the quality of work and the courtesy and integrity of the employees, I did have some trouble with my rebuild that are a result of me relying on two different auto shops to remove the transmission from my van. It had some shifting issues from 1st to 2nd and that's because dirt and particulates from the old transmission fluid was caked on the transmission lines, causing it to get in to the rebuilt unit and resulting in a shifting problem. Once I replaced the radiator, the problem went away. I asked them to put in lines for a transmission temp gauge and they did it free of charge and they did it right. I will happily recommend Marsh to anyone who needs transmission work done on their car. read more

FOR SALE: My hot, forest green, V6, 1994 Toyota Camry. New transmission, new transaxle. New tires, battery, battery cables. It's a G-Ride everyone. Inquire within* This was my first complete car crapout. And boy did I get pissed off. Regardless, Marsh's was recommended by a dudefriend that owns a shop. I got the car in on Tuesday noon with little notice, they diagnosed it and had the repair planned out by 5pm. I wrangle a rental (see the Enterprise review upcoming) and get on my merry way. I don't hear anything until Friday when I call to ask whats up, whereupon I get the glorious news that more shit is wrong with the car, chachining my grand total to +2g's. Barf. It was done by Monday evening. They road tested it, and I also have a 24,000 mile warranty. They were accomodating to me calling several times on Monday making sure I would get it back when they said.. and I did. But still, ouch. I almost wanted to give this place 3 stars, but that was only because of the expenditure. Not 5 stars because they didn't call me Friday, the expected completion day. *seriously.. and buy me a Corona at kareoke and I'll knock off $3. read more

I had them rebuild my trans in late 2010. It took quite a while and cost quite a bit but it's been working well since and they are very upfront about what they are doing. The other day, I had some trouble with shifting and my 24,000 mile warranty was still in effect. I took it up there and they had it diagnosed quickly, it was not the trans but they were willing to fix it for me quickly and effectively. I'd go back! read more

Marsh did my 2003 Volvo XC-90 transmission and transfer case a while back. Fort Knox City. When I noticed some red fluid on the garage floor, I took it back for a check-up. Marsh started by pulling the pan, that looked like the leak source, for a new gasket. But low and behold, on opening up the tranny, there were gray deposits everywhere, as if the last quickie oil change guys put some of my Castrol GTX in my new tranny. Marsh flushed the tranny, new filter, new fluid, and saved me a sample of the fluid for chemical analysis. All -- no charge! Zippo. Nada. Will I ever go anywhere else? No! read more

My family is VERY disappointed in this shop!! They did work on our 2000 Honda accord in april of 2009 with a 2 year warranty on parts and labor. We were told that there was 1 more part that might need replacement if the shifting problem still accoured and they would replace it with no labor cost. They did as they promised, but when the car still shifted improperly they wanted another $1300. to TRY again at repairing the transmission. Joey and John both talked about customer satifaction being their #1 concern but were not willing to honor the warranty they agreed to. read more

My wife owns a 2004 VW Beetle and we started having some shifting issues. After doing some searches on line for possible solutions everything pointed to valve body. I took her car to a transmission shop in Beaverton and he claimed it was throwing a bunch of codes and referred us to a VW specialist in Beaverton. I told my story to the "specialist" and I told him what I thought it was. He charged me $100 to diagnosis it and said it was spark plugs. he then charged me $300 to change the plugs. Still had issues and we took it back. He then said it was the turbo bypass valve. I bought a new one for $100 and still had issues. Took the car to dealer who charged me another $100 for diagnosis. They told me it was the valve body (huh) and it would cost $2000 to repair it. I swung by a different shop who referred me to Marsh Transmission. I went in and talked to Paul about it and he actually listened to what was happening and agreed pretty much right away that it was the valve body. He quoted me an average price without even looking at the car (I was not with her car at this time). We scheduled an appointment after I put some money together. My wife and I are on a tight budget and knew that quoted price was doable, but was going to be tough for a few weeks. Paul called me when the car was done and gave me a final cost. Price ended up being $600 less than quoted and $700 less than dealer. I told my wife what the cost was and she couldn't believe that we found an honest mechanic. Any other mechanic would have taken me for what they quoted. Paul and his dad John are top notch folks. I would recommend them to anybody. I plan on taking my other car to them just for a trans service. PLEASE use Marsh Transmission if you need tranny service. You will not be disappointed. Way to go Paul and John!! I will never go back to them cause they dont keep to there word an warranty even at the bottom of there paper work says they warranty on parts for 24 months or 24,000 miles whichever comes first .. But they still wont warranty it so i am out 1,537.91 the first time we took it to them to get the tranmission fixd but they didt fix it .. They justd bandaid job on it an not to long after they did that they told us it would cost another 1,313.07 to get it fixd the right way that they should of done the first time.. so they charge but alot when the tranmission cost only $400 so they wantd me to pay for the part an 1137.91 for sop charges witch i shouldt have to pay for cause they messd up not me THEY did! an know iam out a car witch justd is siting thanks to some one i thought new what they wear doing so i will never go back to them or wil ever think of it. An if they cant explain how they will fix it thats also a good sign not to trust them cause if they cant tell u how they are goin to fix it than u may want to rethink do they know what there doing read more
