I usually do auto repairs myself, but transmissions are really intricate and I didn't feel comfortable trying to do this on my own. But Paul spoke my language, made me feel like he was being completely up-front and honest, and the results speak for themselves: the transmission works better than ever now, and has for over a thousand miles. Paul also went the extra mile (well, more like 100 mi) and spent time on the phone with the other shop, their insurance company, etc. He helped convince them that the issue had ACTUALLY been caused by a faulty installation of parts, so in the end insurance covered the cost. She refused to let me finish filing out ALL the info on their form, snapped up her clip board from me, walked to the back, and that was that, never saw her again, and I've NEVER received an email quote either. The noise over the years got progressively worse and with the car being under warranty I would routinely take the car over to Wilsonville Mercedes and my experience there was not awesome. Over three years I had the truck in the shop for months trying to fix or even claim to replicate the issue. Eventually the warranty runs out and the noise keeps getting worse. Well, at that point I start throwing parts at it. Changed the upper CA's, the right wheel bearing/hub, all the inner/outer tie rods, the air struts and despite everything I had done I could not resolve the issue. I made an appointment with Star Motors and took the truck in for a diagnosis. Spent a good amount of time going over what I'd done and what was happening. I dropped the truck off hoping for the best but recognizing that this was not fixed by many people. Welp, three hours later I get the call that they think they figured it out and fixed it. I biked over to get the truck and sure enough, it's fixed!!! My truck drives like a brand new truck again!! No clunks, no noises and with all the stuff I swapped it's like better than when I got it. I found my people. No reason to take a Mercedes anywhere else. I'm one happy human.

Originally it was due to my engine light being on but that issue seems to have fixed itself. So I wanted Shay to do a diagnostic to determine why my Ford Escape battery was draining overnight. He seemed to be stuck on the engine light issue and when I tried to shift to the matter of the power drain the conversation went sideways and he became hostile. He cancelled my appointment, said he now had no openings for Friday and would call me back when he had an opening. If I had any doubt of his ability to service my vehicle I would never have made an appointment in the first place. So I guess I'll stick with Landmark Ford until I can find another reputable mechanic. Communications could have been a lot better.
