I spent 23 minutes in line for a return at customer service only to be told they don't do returns. I went to return area waited 36 minutes. The wait would have been longer but others in front of me grew angry and left the line. A few were cursing in frustration. Poor management. Poor everything. I've been a cardholder for over 30 years. She made sure my husband and I got out of the chairs expeditiously when an incident was going on in the mall that caused us all to have to evacuate for a few minutes. This was my first salon visit since I was a child and I expect it to be taken care of, But it turned out to be a nightmare! I was seen by a woman name Bev or Beverly, who said she knew how to do black hair and I came in for a silk press a $70 job. I did not get it at all what I asked for, and she tried to trim my hair but ended up hacking half of it off on one side only!And she kept making comments about the texture of my hair because my hair is extremely curly coyly. So it took a few hours, and the store was closing so everything was then rushed.So before they even closed the cash register they came from around the desk to collect payment while Beverly was still in the middle of my hair and I guess from that point she just didn't care! My hair was straightened too an extent, but I could have done that at home!!!!!!! What to say...over processed and horrible cut. I know that there were some great looking cuts and color coming out of this salon, I just wasn't one of them. I knew there was a problem when I was in the shampoo bowl and he kept putting toner on me over and over again. I asked if everything was ok, he said there are some pieces not meshing. But yeah keep putting toner on to make it better. Or better yet dump some Sunny D right on my head. I wished someone would have helped him. Holly Frakes is great at coloring and styling. I met her years ago when she started cutting my son and husband's hair, when she moved to JcPenney I tried it out and wow, I love my hair color and style. She is so friendly and creative but she will take her time with you and let you go at your pace. She doesn't oversell you but comes with quality suggestions that will work with your hair and your lifestyle. I told her I don't like having a hair style that requires alot of work, she knew what I meant and gave me what I could handle. JcPenney Salon is nice and clean and the girls up front are always in a good mood and having fun at work. They give you coupons for services and if you use your JcPenney card you will receive deals in the mail for services like free deep conditioning. I'm a loyal Supercuts customer for no other reason than I hate salons and am not a stickler about having perfect hair! Been wanting to give JCP a try and I had a 20% off coupon so off I went. The checking in and checking out was a hassle. The stylists share register duty and don't know how to correctly enter coupons and what not. What's new, yada, yada. This happens everywhere. So I felt better about my $17 haircut ($22 regular price) for having to wait. The cut was fine and I got a conditioning treatment with it, no charge. read more

After doing some research and trying to find a person with great reviews, I found Rhonda on yelp. I decided to call and make an appointment to get my hair cut by her. I can honestly say she exceeded my expectations! Not only did she cut my hair amazingly, but she also gave me advice on products and brushes that would work great with my hair. The salon is clean, everyone is friendly and the front desk lady is helpful and professional. I've been seeing Laura here for about 4 years now, ever since I first went to her to rescue me from the worst haircut of my life. I've never been one to get my hair cut on a regular basis but now, because of Laura, I see her every 7-8 weeks and my hair is longer and healthier than it's ever been in my adult life. Just wanted a quick cut, as I was running very short on time. New to the area and the salon that was recommended isn't open Mondays. Didnt appreciate product recommendations, even after I mentioned I use products my salon artist recommends only. The hair styling after the cut was interesting; so much hair spray and dry shampoo used, that I went home and washed my hair again. Should've just saved time and had the styling skipped. Ok for a quick cut that was 10min from my home but next time I'll just wait for the salon. Update- after washing and drying my hair. Ends are uneven. Elementary cut, if that, since it's not even well done. Edges razor sharp and don't have that nice feathered look a professional salon would. There was no facial framing, either. Worst service!!! I scheduled 5days in advanced for gabby who had done my daughters hair amazing. Then I come in for my scheduled appointment and I have to wait and hour and then get told that gabby is backed up and get tossed aside to someone else cause gangs next appointment was there. Instead of canceling or rescheduling that clients appt I had to get pushed aside which is very unprofessional. I went in asking to schedule an appointment for the next day (or later in the same afternoon). After a bit of mumbling, the receptionist said "she'll be with you in a minute." Thankfully I didn't have anywhere I had to be so I just dealt with it. The stylist I got seemed really nice, but not very knowledgeable. I asked for her to trim my hair and my bangs. Half way through my cut, she insulted my previous cut by saying, "I hate when people do this to their hair. It just makes it look like they got a horrible haircut." I was annoyed, but laughed it off. Later as she was cutting my bangs, I told her that the first girl who cut them did them weirdly so I had to have someone fix them. I'm not sure if she wanted the laugh, but she ended up doing the same thing - cut them blunt, straight across, around my lips when I asked for them diagonally across my eyebrow. I asked her to fix them 5 or 6 times when she eventually said "I'm not going to keep doing this. One more time." I went to a Fantastic Sams the next day to get them fixed, where I was the laughing stock of the salon because of how obviously terribly my bangs were cut. Way to go, Penney's. My $6 bang job was better and nicer than yours. read more

So very glad that I came here for my appointment with Holly. I was referred to her by a friend and am very thankful! About a week before I saw Holly, I had almost a foot cut off of my hair by a student at a cosmetology school in town and it was all uneven, and NOT right for my face shape. Holly was able to salvage the mess, and give me basically the style I had been looking for at the school. She also was able to change things up just enough to not have to remove any more length. Holly is very outgoing, friendly and professional. She explains how things will look best and plans for down the road as she continues to mend the mess. I really enjoyed visiting with her while she repaired my hair. She took her time and made my visit a real pleasure, not to mention now when I do my hair I don't want to cry!! I will be back and I am very thankful to finally have a stylist after 4 years living in Nevada! This review is based on a particular hair dresser not any body else in the salon. Unfortunately I do not remember her name but her chair is the first one on the right when you walk in. I went in there probably a month ago and I've been really hesitant whether I should write this review but I am still really pissed at the service and hair cut I received. Now when I checked in the lady up front was very nice and helpful. She took my information and asked me if I wanted blow dry and style and I said yes. Couple of minutes later the hairdressers came out. She asked how much I wanted cut off I told her an inch she said that sounds good. Took me to wash my hair and started chipping away. My hair style is very simple. I do not have fancy layers, bangs, framing around my face. Non of that. One layer and that's it. So we talked. She was reminiscing about the good old days. And finally she was done cutting. Took a flat brush and started blow drying my hair and she was brushing it. Done. Walked me to the register where she had her appointment waiting for her. No wonder she was in a hurry. I left with damp hair. Now when someone asks if I want blow dry and style I do not expect a glamorous hair style at all but at least make it look like something and dry it completely. Moving on two weeks later I decided to straighten my hair ( I mostly blow dry with a round brush or curl it). As I was straightening I noticed some pieces were longer than the others but kept going. When I was done my hair was uneven. She chopped it up so bad. I had longer and shorter pieces all over. I was so pissed and still am. Now I have to go pay someone else fix her mistake. I've been telling everyone now to go there just in case they get this lady as their stylist. read more

My first visit with Holly was just a clarifying treatment and a very short trim just to even everything out! Holly then, was super friendly and very knowledgable of hair care and products. The real moment of truth came was when I came back to get my hair dyed. Previous hair stylists didn't achieve what I initially had in my head but Holly was able to execute everything that I really wanted, perfectly! So I used to work at jcpenney galleria mall and I had always heard good things about the salon. I needed to get my hair done for my wedding and it was pretty short notice, called them on thur and the wedding was on Sunday. I called and made an appointment, tried to tell the girl what it was gonna be, a total color change (red and brown from my current blonde), and cut but she didn't really seem to care. Made me an appointment for that evening. When I went in the I was about fine min early and they didn't bring me back till ten minutes after my appointment time. When I showed the lady what i wanted she freaked out and told me that it was way too much, at least three hours work, and she didn't have the time. She acted like it was my fault until I told her that I had tried to communicate my needs to the girl that she went to the front to figure out what happened. They ended up making me an appointment for the morning of the next day. When I came in the next day a different lady, dark skin with an accent and medium length curly hair, helped me out. Seemed really nice, spent about an hour talking about what I wanted and I showed her the pic I had of what I wanted and she seemed to get it. I told her I didn't want I darn so the color would last longer, I just wanted it to look good for the wedding and I didn't care how long it lasted. We spent around four hours cutting and coloring my hair and when she was done it was horrible! I looked good but not at all what I wanted. I wanted a medium brown with a few splotches of pale red around randomly ( but only like five total in the front and sides) and she made my hair black with solid red tips as well as a few splotches. I had told her my fiancé didn't like it when the hair was all one color anywhere, like on the tips, but more so when it was random and not structured looking. I tipped her anyways because I think she just didn't know how to her job very well but j am never going back and I advice others to not go or proceed with EXTREME caution. I understand that erring my hair dyed that soon to the wedding is risky but my stylist didn't even color it like I wanted at all. Overall, horrible experience. read more
