JCPenney - Bout that life - Department Stores Near Me - Northridge, California

After being a Ross Stores in Sherman Oaks, I decided to try getting more pants at JCPenny. Ross hold a lot of jeans, but they didn't carry a lot of Levi's. I know JCPenny carries all 500 series pants and I decided with the money I have saved from eating healthy, might as well get a couple quality pants. JCPenny at Northridge Fashion Center is one of the big stores here. I have been here many times with my pops and had a lot of clothes purchased here. The Men's department is on the first floor, Women's on the Second and I believe Kitchenware is on the third. I came in through the first floor west side and bombarded with lingerie. I keep forgetting that this entrance even as a little kid has been the same. I walked really fast through since there were a lot of women shopping in that section today (Probably hoping they would ask me advice on something **wink**) I found the Levi's Jean sections and was quite surprised with the prices. Ross was selling Levi's for $19.99, but Ross only had a few. Prices at JCPenny were $54 for jeans. They had a special on Buy One, Get the Second Half off. Geez....What happen to pants in the $20 levels?! Well, it was worth it anyways since it was my time of celebration. I got two 550 Relaxed Fit Pants ($54 for the 1st, and $27 for the second). Obviously, it was a little pricey, but they have the 500 series pants here. I did try the pants in their dressing room, but the 40x32 did not fit me. So, I got the 42x34 and that fit perfectly. Geez...that's a morale killer on me...lol. How did I gain two pants size between Sherman Oaks and Northridge?! My total for two pants was $88.90 and I was done with my pants shopping for the day. I was planning to buy new shirts, but I'll wait later on that. Glad to be in the lower 40s now, but I still got June to lose more weight. Damn...buying clothes is expensive. I wonder how women keep buying and buying the high end stuff. I guess I am going to have to save up for the future even when i am saving right now. :) The Yelp Universe. This review is for the Sephora section inside JC Penny only. The sales clerks at this mini-Sephora happen to be the friendliest I've ever encountered (outside of the sales dude at the Sephora in Seattle) and my heart always dances with joy with free samples and genuine smiles! Sure, this isn't a full-fledge Sephora but it has Bliss, Lorac, Stila (the latest eyeshadows, even!) and a few other lines I love (but no NARS- boo!). I walked out with the Too Faced 12 eyeshadow/eyeliner kit quite happy since I was able to smear away without being bothered by hordes of frazzled makeup shoppers usually found at other Sephoras. Why the three stars? Well, it's inside of a JC Penny. That's just a little bit tacky. read more

Sephora Counter Review: I came in here on a Friday evening. I had checked out the main (full) Sephora store, but was told by the employees there that only the JCP Sephora carried the brand I was looking for. When I walked in the Sephora area was devoid of other customers, but I was still completely ignored by the 2 female employees who were laughing and joking around while stocking items. I asked for the brand I was searching for, and checked out a few items. Eventually I asked one of the employees if I might have a sample of a perfume I had been scoping out -- the employee acted completely put out by my request, and repeated "You want a sample of perfume??!?" and laughed like I had just said something ridiculous. Even my boyfriend noticed and asked out loud "Why she was laughing???" No idea, except that she lacked customer service skills. JCP was open for another hour after I arrived, so I know the night was kind of winding down for them, but I worked in retail for 6+ years and even when you're gearing up to head home in a bit sometimes you still have to make yourself useful...sorry girls, that's why they call it a job. Needless to say I'll take my business to the main Sephora store, or make my purchases online as needed. read more

Everything has gone down hill. The store is not taken care of and they have changed how they do their procedures again. I had to wait in 2 ridiculously long lines just to return something. They told me that from the first line they would call and have me move forward to the next line and even though they did that, I was still required to wait. Under remodel. Usually find get buys on toddler and teen clothing, but with the remodel a little difficult to navigate the floor plan. The Sales Lady in the mattress department is super knowledgeable about the product she sells and will help you find the right product for you. Bought some shoes as a gift for my mother only to later realize that there was only one shoe in the box. When I tried returning it the 50-60 year old employee on the second floor dress department was very rude and yelled at me asking why I didn't check the box. She didn't wear a name tag so I didn't get her name. After finding the right shoe size Heather from the dress department on the second floor rang me up. She was very kind and is honestly the only reason this review has more than one star. Great customer service from Heather. read more

Will never buy anything from JCPenney again. Ordered a couch on 21 of November, today is 29th of December, nobody called us or anything! I have been on hold with CS for hour till I got sick of it and hung up, calling delivery service they said it's not in their stock YET! I booked an appointment for the JC Penny Portrait Studio Northridge CA location. I arrived on time, was told there was a 2 hour delay! No one bothered to call me ahead of time to warn me, to "check in " via telephone and then call me 15 minutes before my turn so not to have to waste 2 hours waiting around at JC Penny. I was there w/ my 2 small kids, so you can imagine how tired and cranky they were by the time picture time came around. Poor planning and execution on JC Penny part, I am very dissapointed!!! They double book their appointments, they do not allow enough time between bookings to take the pics, process/order them. Also, given how behind they were, we were limited to ONE background for all poses. So they were late, limited me in my options, and did not offer me ANYTHING for my inconvenience either. I just started working in the mall and I decided to visit the men's suit department on a Wednesday. There was only one poor lady working there. The place was in shambles. It looked like a hurricane came through the department. All the pants that I used to pay $25 for are$60 and up. No deals to be found. Nobody greeted me or even approached me. I don't think the management ever does a walk around. Very disappointed. It made me feel like driving to the JCPenney's all the way in the Glendale Galleria. That is a much better store with better associates and a great selection. read more

Went today to help my daughter find a bathing suit. It was the worst shopping experience I have had in a long while. There is too much stock in the store so they have rack in the walk ways. They closed off all the fitting rooms except for one per per floor. Massive line it you need to try on things. I asked the fitting room clerk why only one was open when they actually have 3. She said it was due to high theft but from what I saw they are not doing much to prevent it. Three people attending in the fitting room but no one was counting items so there was just a pile of clothes she was trying to organize. Also if you have the place so packed with racks and people try to get around you don't have good site lines to really prevent theft. I'm not ever going back. read more

This location is just awful for holiday shopping. The employees are all rude and disinterested in helping the customers. All the super serious faced security staff walking around makes the atmosphere feel hostile. I mean places like Ross have alot of security but they greet you when you walk in so you dont feel like your shopping in a prison. I tried to approach a few employees trying to ask about a coupon I had gotten in the mail. Omg at the sight of an actual customer needing help they would run off. In a store that size who's bright idea was it to close down all the womens dressing rooms except for one during the busiest time of year. I was shopping for some new jeans and ended up picking out about 10 pairs in various styles to try on. I walked over to the closest dressing room only to find out it was closed. They blocked it with a big board. Ok a little annoyed but whatever I cross over the store to the next dressing room...also closed. I end up finding they only have one open in the dresses section, really far walk from jeans in my opinion. when i finally get there, of coarse there is a line and they are enforcing an 8 item only policy. Jeans are really getting heavy by this point so I just dropped them on a shelf and went over to macys where ALL the dressing rooms are open, no lines and you can try on as many items as you want. read more

If I could give them 0 rating I would. I needed to return formal dress shirts and went to first checkout registry that I saw. After waiting in line I was told that I need to go to department from which I purchased the item. That seems idiotic and rude policy. They have no problem checking you out at any registry regarding from which department item is purchased but if you need to return it, you need to go to specific department to return it. If I could give a lower star, I would. Today, Freddy Moreno in furniture at Northridge Mall store cheated my 95 year old mother for 250 dollars. She was buying a table set, and took the trouble to come to see it instore in her wheelchair, table was supposed to be 40% off instore. We bought it, but were charged 850 dollars for the 1000 dollar set. Last time I looked, 40% of 1000 was 400 dollars, so the set should have cost 600 dollars. I called online number when furniture at penneys did not answer, and was told employees got a benefit from ordering online. So, Freddy got his online credit, and mom paid 250 more for her set. JC penny looks like it's understaffed but the staff that I did talk to you is very sweet and kind. I always come to jcpenny in Northridge, i bought my bf a watch, i was pressured to buy a care package and so i thought i would put it to use. Its been nothing but a BIG HEADACHE JUST TO GET THAT WATCH BACK, I was told i would get it back on a certain day and i didnt they keep telling me they will call me to let me know whats going on with it. I havent received a call and today i told them i wasnt going anywhere until i knew exactly what was going on. It yook more then 3 hours for 2 sales associates and 1 manager to figure out my watch was shipped to the wrong place and for them to even figure at where its at i still havent gotten a conclusion and i was late to work! I've shopped at this location for bras and panties for 8 years. I was extremely disappointed recently to find the area in complete disarray. Selection, size and variety was terrible. In addition, I was yelled at while in a fitting room by a team member that was way out of line with her tone of voice. Apparently, the fitting I was using was out of order - no sign was posted indicating this. Sales associate didn't stick around to direct me to the correct fitting room to use. I'm glad she didn't - from her scary tone of voice I was afraid she might hurt me. Needless to say I will not be returning. Crazy "scary" sales associate on the loose in this department - When looking for bras and panties I recommend that you go to Kohl's. This review is for the JC Penney Salon. I decided to randomly make a hair appointment and was booked with Rosalina. Let's just say it was my lucky night!! Not only is she a beautiful lady with GREAT HAIR (that's important) she spent about two hours on my hair, cutting it, feeling it, blowdrying it and styling it. She really took the time to examine my hair and analyze the best cut for my face shape, lifestyle, etc. I have never felt so pampered, and my hair has never looked so great. If you want a fantastic hair experience, visit Rosalina!! I'll definitely be going back. A cut and blowdry is only $39 and worth every penny with Rosalina! read more

This jcpenny is not organized but the price is good if you use the coupons. If you know what you are looking for then you can get it at bargain price. Its not norstroms but again you are comparing apples or oranges. Nordstrom is expensive. Jcpenny has good return policy but you have to look for many items yourself. read more

After asking her several times, she finally said that this is the men's department and women clothes are upstairs. Then I went upstairs and explained to a salesperson the my Mom is 4' 9" and I need pants for her. She showed me pants and I asked for a tape measure to make sure that these pants would fit. She replied that she did not have a tape measure and then she told me to go to the tall women's side. Again SEVERAL times I told her that my Mom is 4'9"!!!!!!
