I give them 5 stars even though I had to spend nearly a thousand dollars with them. The fact was that would be the price or higher no matter what I did or who I went with. My A/C wasn't blowing cold air and self diagnosed it as one or more of; the capacitor was bad, compressor was bad, or the coolant was low. I replaced the capacitor myself and knew the other two things needed a professional with the right tools. JDL came out and explained how I could have checked if my compressor was working myself and showed the compressor was still good. I was low on coolant and I have an R22 system which is being phased out by the EPA. This means they don't make it anymore and suppliers are charging more for it. The newest refrigerant, R-410, isn't compatible in R22 systems so a full unit replacement would be required. R44 is a suitable replacement for R22 in old systems though and is half the price of R22 per pound. The problem I had was most likely a pinhole leak as I still had some coolant. Also my system didn't state how much coolant it takes (They showed me the specs printed on the unit where it only showed a zero for the quantity). My options were to fill it up with expensive R22 not knowing how many lbs it would take; remove the R22, put a vacuum on the system, hope it isn't a big leak so the vacuum is good, then fill it with R44; or replace the unit with a R-410 system. I chose to fill it with R22 and use a sealant because I already have some in the system and if the leak was in a hard to repair or impossible to repair location I would probably be looking at a much higher bill. Now I need to start saving up for a new system and wish I reupped my home warranty 6 months ago. Notes on the employee's. They were very professional, polite, and knowledgable. Explained all the options and didn't try to steer me in any which way that I thought wasn't in my best interest. Would recommend and would call again. read more

My AC stopped working and I saw all the good reviews for JDL HVAC and called them. I was super impressed with the JDL team because they were so professional and knowledgeable; that I knew immediately I was in good hands. Turns out my AC System was dead. I got a new Lenox AC System and they did an incredible job of replacing it. Important Note: His team did impress upon me when they came over that it was a good idea to replace both the ac and heating systems but I didn't listen and only went with the AC. Looking back I should have replaced both because they knew what they were talking about because when they went to replace the AC system, my old Heating system and ducts didn't accurately fit the New Lenox system they were installing. AGAIN this is my fault because I didn't listen to their advice and recommendation. However, Joe (the owner) who personally came to make sure it was all done right knows how to shape sheet metal, and he created a new sheet metal template that looked amazing! He made it look so good and everything fit just fine. He drained and cleaned the old system and replaced everything. He also found some flaws from the previous repair people and he fixed them too. They worked hard and got everything done right. It is clear they really care and I recommend these guys completely. The New AC system works fantastic! Cold and efficient! I am super impressed with JDL HVAC and feel very lucky that I Called them. They are good guys and they really know their stuff. If you call them you will be very glad you did. read more

My air conditioner was taking forever to cool the house. The first company I called came and took one look at the outside hvac unit and told me I needed a new unit that would cost $5k - $10k. I wanted a 2nd opinion and called JDL hvac services. The person I spoke with was the owner and he spent a lot of time with me on the phone discussing possible causes. The owner was also the person who came to my home. First he checked the temperature of the air from the ducks inside and saw that it wasn't as cool as it should be. Next he checked the air filter which was ok. Then he checked the unit outside and saw that the condenser coils needed to be cleaned and the coolant was low. He cleaned the coils and added coolant and the air is working great. Because he wasn't able to get to me until 2 weeks after I called him he gave me some good discounts. I received great service from the owner who spent a lot of time answering my questions and explaining things to me. JDL is company w/great customer service and work ethic and will not try to rip you off. having an honest contractor is rare and a plus for myself as a single woman. read more

I have had very positive experience with Joe and JDL HVAC services. They replaced our air conditioning last year through a home warranty claim. Getting all the approvals and delays in getting the new equipment dragged the installation well into cold weather. After installation, the system proved to work but the weather was so cold, it was difficult to set the system correctly. When we tried to use it this year, the system was not working. The warranty had expired for the work on our warranty contract and our insurance required a new claim and chose another company to do the work. It was a hot Sunday and the new company did not attempt to contact us. I called the owner of JDL HVAC and he personally came to our home to correct the problem that same Sunday. It turned out the problem was caused by the cold weather when they installed the system. I found Joe and his staff to be courteous, competent and respectful of our property. Our experience with JDL was fantastic from start to finish! I sent a request for service through their website, and I was in contact with them within an hour. There is the option to speak on the phone or text, and the millennial in me loves the text option! The scheduler worked with us right away to get an appointment and the process was incredibly easy, even via text. Armando was also wonderful the day of our appointment. He gave us plenty of notice that he was on his way, and fixed our issue quickly and efficiently- We had a different company install our smart thermostat, who messed up the wiring to our air conditioner so our outdoor unit wouldn't kick on. Armando diagnosed and fixed the issue within an hour, and also made sure all other wiring was correct. I wish we had gone with JDL for the thermostat installation as well, but we are so thankful they were able to fix the problem caused by another company. We are very satisfied with JDL!!! We had a very old HVAC system that was reaching the end of its life cycle. I really appreciated the fact that JDL took the time to actually EDUCATE US and EXPLAIN how our system could perform more effectively....and WHY we should consider our next step. We felt comfortable making the decision, and even after all of my prodding and questions (Joe has the patience of a saint!), Joe was always available to explain things to us. I really appreciated that because I like to make careful decisions about everything. JDL completed the big project for us over the course of 2 days, and I was also impressed with how professional the team was and how well they all seemed to work together. My AC finally died in October, 2 days before the hottest October day we've had in awhile. I used Home Advisor to submit a request for service and Joe was the first to call AND he could have a tech out that morning. Was hoping it could be fixed, but Ian confirmed what I thought...it was dead! Joe gave me an estimate to replace both the AC and furnace and his estimate was fair, having gotten a prior estimate to just replace the AC unit. The crew came out on a Sunday, which I really appreciated, and replaced the units. Thank you to the guys because they worked all day to install since the old AC unit gave them a bit of a struggle to remove. Very satisfied with Joe and his team's service. Joe provides a warranty on his labor and a maintenance visit is also included. I'm happy that Joe was the first to call as I prefer to work with smaller, local businesses. read more

Called JDL last week because HVAC blower was out and set up an appt 'window' of 4 hrs. Called during that window to see if an eta could be narrowed down and was told that it is hot out and they would call me when a half hour out. After the window had expired, at about 1215, I called and got the answering svc. I requested a call back. Not receiving any comms back, I called at about 1:30 and got the answering svc. This time I did receive what I thought was a curt, accusatory, argumentative call back from a woman who started with, Did I not tell you that you'd get a call when you called this morning? Yes, I did. It went downhill from there. The friendly tech came over and troubleshot the system. Couldn't have been nicer. However, because of the front desk person, I cannot recommend this company. read more

We had a new heat pump system installed recently. We were pleased with every step of the process. Armando came to view our situation and explain our options, and the costs associated with them: he was extremely knowledgeable and upfront. Amber managed all of the communications around the estimates and the contract: she was friendly, upbeat, and responsive. Ire and his colleague did the installation: they were careful to keep things clean, they were very exact about the work, and Ire did a great job explaining the features of the machine and the work they did. My experience with JDL was two thumbs up and five stars. Everyone was polite and very professional. I sent a request for service and within minutes I received a telephone call and scheduled an appointment for the next day. My experience was very positive from talking with Amber, to Armand and his assistant that came out to look at the problem and Muhammad and Jerel that came out the next day to service my oil heating system. I have dealt with this company for 3 service calls and have been very pleased with their truthfulness and professionalism. The last call I had was due to no heat in our loft floor furnace. The technician showed me the issue which was replacing the main board. During replacing the main board the transistor also had gone bad but they replaced that free of charge since that was not diagnosed on the original quote. This company is a small company with employees who care about providing great service and that's why I will always have them service our home. read more

We needed to replace one of our HVAC units and we had a great experience. This is the second unit (we have a two-zone house) that JDL Replaced. Both times we had Carlos lead the work. He was friendly and courteous. He and Rudy did an excellent job with the work, cleaning up, and making sure the system worked properly before leaving. They put down cloth to protect our carpet and are where the unit is. We will continue using JDL Services for ongoing maintenance and other work like this in the house. read more

On the hottest day of the summer my AC stopped working. I called JDL around 7:50PM not expected anyone to pick up. To my surprise they did. They of course informed me their schedule was packed but they had an appointment in my area at 8AM the next day. The owner said if I was willing he could be at my house around 6 -7AM to work on my AC. Did not expect that, it was really nice.
