A friend highly recommended Crown Tavern, and I can honestly say the food was outstanding. Every dish we ordered was excellent, and the drinks were great as well. Unfortunately, the service didn't match the quality of the food. Our waitress made us feel neglected and overlooked throughout the evening. For a meal that came to over $220, I expected a much better dining experience. It wasn't just slow service--it felt like we were forgotten at times. I did speak with the restaurant manager, Zach, and I truly appreciate how he handled the situation. He listened, was sincere, apologized, and genuinely cared about our experience. His professionalism left a positive impression, and I'm grateful he took the time to address our concerns. Crown Tavern has an incredible kitchen and serves amazing food, which is why it's disappointing that the service didn't reflect the same standard. I sincerely hope this is addressed because I'd hate for other guests to leave feeling the way we did. If I were rating the food alone, it would easily be 5 stars. Everyone has better things to do than to watch TV with him, but everyone finds themself sitting on the couch watching TV with him at some point throughout the gathering. That's McGarvey's. Is it anyone's "go-to" bar in Manchester? Probably not. But does everyone love it and find themselves there at some point during the night? Probably not. But this review isn't about other people, It's about me. I don't care if other people don't like McGarvey's (I'm looking at you, Anthony A.) But if I did play pool, would I enjoy playing on these tables? More than likely, yes. The pub's motto is: "What happens at McGarvey's stays at McGarvey's". I personally don't think that's their actual motto because no one has ever said it besides me, nonetheless, it rings true. What happens at McGarvey's stays at McGarvey's because by the next morning, you won't remember anything that happened at McGarvey's... But the bartenders will. They remember everything. And you know where they stay? At McGarvey's. All the time. These were served with a pea and bacon risotto whose rich flavors matched the meatballs perfectly and the accompanying crisped breads balanced texture for the perfect combo. The pork belly tostadas had a great combination of toppings that gave them a fresh feel and almost made pork belly feel healthy, and the popover short rib dish was perfectly cooked and tasty. This one wasn't my dish, but I managed to snag a nibble and may be ordering it next time if they decide to add it to the regular menu. So good! The dishes were a nice size, leaving room for desert, and the fresh fruit meringue was an excellent finale. The restaurant itself is small, with a bar and just a handful of indoor tables. They had 4 more tables outside, however, which would be great on slightly cooler days. The indoor window seat we got was comfortable and the whole place had a cozy, friendly feel. Service was top notch, from a greeting as we entered to constant attention - we never really noticed our slightly small (bar style) table as all the dishes were cleared so quickly. I loved this place and will probably have to keep returning until I've tried the whole menu. I'm definitely hoping to try the outdoor tables next if weather permits.
