Nothing but disappointing experiences with this place, and in my opinion the service has completely fallen apart. They refused to help with basic tailoring that other shops handled with no issue. Both times I felt brushed off and treated like my business didn't matter. Since the one genuinely helpful longtime employee left, the atmosphere has gone downhill fast. Now the staff comes across as rude, uninterested, and honestly just over it. Every visit has felt colder and more dismissive than the last. Based on my experiences, this shop simply does not seem to value customers or even care about providing decent service. Before I used Jeeves earlier this winter, I hadn't used a dry cleaner in four years after another dry cleaner completely ruined a garment. I used vodka in a spray bottle to handle any smells and other DIY tricks. But then I got an ink stain on a beautiful viscose dress and after foolish trying to remove it with hand sanitizer, I knew I was in trouble. After Jeeves received the dress, I was told that they may be able to fix it but they weren't sure, and I appreciated their honesty. Lo and behold, it comes back to me flawless and in a timely manner. Is Jeeves expensive? Yes. But compared to the cost of replacing the dress, it was entirely worth it. read more

In response to the business owner's comment: They did originally charge me for the work, and then refunded me when I was not happy with it and offered to fix it - for a THIRD time - and it's still a bad job. Not sure why it matters that the money was refunded, when the tailor job they produced is still laughably bad. Truly how does one not color match correctly their own string? Both belt loops were replaced and are completely different colors. If anyone checked the work before letting it be delivered, they would have noticed. It's not about the money, but about the fact they hold themselves out to be of higher quality than they actually are. Also, it's easy for them to refund me when it's a small amount for this job - but would they be refunding hundreds of dollars worth of a job? A refund is not a defense to bad quality work. Also, the receptionist was defensive - arguing that because I came in late on a Saturday, the tailor was in a rush and couldn't do the job correctly. In reality, I never asked for it to be fixed immediately. I wanted to leave it with them. It's truly a bad look when a business is defensive when called out on their mistakes. On this platform and over the phone. This was not a hard tailor job to do, and they still couldn't get it right after 3 tries. Why would you trust them with something even more complicated? ------------ I'm honestly shocked at how they managed to get it so wrong so many times. I brought my Max Mara coat to fix the strap that holds the coat's belt. First try, they stitch the strap back onto the outside, completely exposing the knot on the outside. I bring it back and ask for the knot to be hidden. Second try, they hide the knot but make the loop much smaller so that the belt no longer fits. I call again and I ask them to completely remove the strap (because they said it was too short to hide the knot otherwise) color match it to the other side, and then make the loop the original size. They deliver back this monstrosity which is two completely different colored straps - one is a pale blue and the other a pale purple taupe (both sides swapped out, so it's not like they couldn't find the proper color. No they removed the unbroken strap on one side and the broken strap and couldn't color match their own string) - and they also ruined the stitching on one side of the coat. In the close up, you can see that the ridges on the coat are no longer smooth. All for a fix that I thought would be so easy for them that I went out of my way to drop it off at Jeeves instead of going to my local dry cleaner who also happens to do tailoring. I thought my expensive coat would be in good hands, but I was very wrong. Never, ever again. Jeeves New York recently performed an in-home service that resulted in the full restoration of my mattress, which had developed a difficult-to-clean oxidation stain another cleaner had failed to remove. The stain removal was also made more difficult due to both the time that had passed as well as the luxury materials involved. Jerry Pozniak, the owner, directly received my inquiry for service, worked with me to understand the situation, provided me a detailed assessment and overview of his recommended plan, and personally arrived to my apartment to clean the mattress. Jerry applied his technical knowledge of stains and solvents to identify the correct type of cleaning process, which the previous cleaning company failed to consider. He also applied a patient hand, which resulted in my mattress remaining almost fully dry throughout the entire process, while the previous cleaner caused my mattress to be saturated with water for over a day. I also pointed out an oil stain on my wool headboard, which Jerry fully restored in probably less than a minute, as a generous and complimentary addition. Throughout the entire process, Jerry was polite, professional, knowledgeable, efficient, very focused on customer service, and importantly, provided me detailed and concise answers to questions to ensure that I fully understood his process. Another great experience at Jeeves. I recently went by to have my trousers cleaned (food grease stain and an ice cream stain) . On my way to the shop the button to my chesterfield fell off. I asked if I could leave the coat and if they would sew the button back on and re-sew the other front buttons to make sure they are sturdy for the winter season. As I was moving to the door (now without my coat...it was 20 something degrees outside...I can be stubborn) Kesandra asked me if I had a few moments to wait as they expedited addressing the buttons on the chesterfield so that I didn't have to walk home in the freezing cold. She also offered me a water while I waited. Several minutes later, the buttons were all robustly sewn to the jacket by one of Jeeves craftsmen. When I asked how much the button repair was, she said it was gratis. Back to the pants, they were ready for pick-up on a Wednesday after dropping them off the previous Thursday (so less than a week turn-around time). Though maybe too much much information they also keep their powder room very clean. To be clear, I'm not a 'big fish' by any stretch (doubt they drop off their own laundry) and I can't guarantee Jeeves can always address my/your needs instantly the way they did in this particular example. Just as the pandemic was making its way to the states, I met and fell in love with my now husband. As we grew closer I knew that if we did end up marrying I wanted to wear my grandmother's wedding gown from the 1940's. When I took it out of storage (an old suitcase) I had doubts it could ever be returned to its glory. I called Jeeves and spoke with Jerry where I explained that I wasn't restoring the dress to preserve it necessarily but more that it was going to be worn. I brought him and his team a swatch accessory for them to test the whitening process. No guarantees were promised but I took a chance with the belief and understanding that if Jeeves couldn't pull it off, no one could. I had heard of their reputation prior and put all of my faith in their care. Long and behold they were able to restore the color, helped me to source fabric which I needed to extend the front (I am a full 4" taller than my grandmother was) and helped me to modernize portions of the dress I wanted to change. Their seamstress was patient and was attentive to detail. The only minor thing I will mention is that I did find a small blood stain near the buttons on the back (the day of the wedding) which likely came from a pin prick) I was saddened to see it but was able to cover with my hair. I came to Jeeves with a dilemma. I had a wedding (my brother's) to attend in just weeks and my gown needed significant alterations. I went to Jeeves and was met with a sigh of relief the second I entered the store. Not only is the staff kind, friendly, and completely professional, but the atmosphere is extremely pleasant. I had my fitting with Zaida who was lovely and took great care in assessing the alterations I would need. My fitting was over and I was out the door within 15 minutes (ideal as I was able to do so before work since they open at 9!). Jeeves then texted me the details of my alterations, a way to track the status, and ultimately, a notification when it was ready. I went to pick up my dress and they greeted me by name as soon as I walked in the door. I could not have been more pleased with the results. The length of the gown was perfect and a buttress was also added to the dress which made it extremely easy when it came to dancing. Moreover, the wedding was at a vineyard so the buttress saved my dress from collecting any dirt. Well, I decided to give Jeeves a second chance. Shame on me. Pickup went fine and they wrote to coordinate a delivery window that worked for me, and then two hours before expected delivery, they emailed (no phone call) to say my credit card needed to be updated and delivery rescheduled. While I completely appreciate the payment needing to go through before delivery, what I don't appreciate is the timing. I called and they said they only run the card the night before and so could only notify me this morning. Why not run the card to verify it it and add a payment hold once they receive the order, akin to a hotel or when you schedule a massage or a lot of other businesses? Or anything that doesn't throw a wrench in my scheduling two hours beforehand. By the way, since they only emailed and didn't call or text, I didn't see the notification until an hour before, so even less effective. The person on the phone is the person I had been emailing with, and he was unsympathetic to me having another delivery issue after they worked to convince me to try them again by offering a credit to make up for the last snafu. Then around the original scheduled delivery time, someone shows up for pickup. I tell him no it was supposed to be a delivery but that they rescheduled iy for tomorrow. He was like wow no one told me. So Jeeves is apparently wasting their contractors time, too. This incident as a stand-alone would not have been a huge deal, but it is just another example of the operations aspect of this business being subpar when they supposedly offer first class service. read more

This review is long overdue. I had a black tie event during the 2018 winter holiday season but my gown arrived super late (2 days before the event!) and needed alterations. It was a nice DVF dress and I was going to be presenting on stage in front of hundreds of people - so I didn't want to go just anywhere. The staff at Jeeves were lifesavers! While some other places I contacted said the turnaround would be impossible, Jeeves told me to come in right away. Understood the urgency of the situation. Calmed me and - most importantly - did an amazing job altering my full-length gown. The name of the man who took my (slightly panicked :)) phone call and helped me when I came in was Patrick. So they did a good job cleaning nearly all of my items. One though couldn't be cleaned. It wasn't a big deal (though I expected a bit more from them), but I was told to just buy a new jacket, which was weird. Additionally, a pair of pants just showed up at my apartment randomly. All clothing should be delivered together and with notification. It was just there with no heads up. Everything is via email. They should really work on an app for better service and security. I just received an email that my clothing will be delivered, but I didn't send them anything new. And I received all my clothing back. What is going on?! Clearly it was a mistake, just say that sorry for the confusion, it was a mistake. Don't say just day that I already received all my items and ignore the extra email (you legit just delayed a pair of pants without notifying me so it's hard to trust your email system). And finally, an extra $35 was charged on my card without any heads up. The initial charge for everything was huge, fine, I understand it's super expensive, but just because I'm willing to spend alot of money to clean the more expensive part of my wardrobe, doesn't mean I won't notice if someone tries to rob me. And it is robbing me, no email, no notification, just used the card as if it was their own, after the clothes were returned. I followed up and it turns out they added those charges to the pants they sent me late (the ones that just showed up without notification or anything). I'm not sure why I have to contact them for a new updated invoice, I'm not sure why they're tacking on an additional charge and not letting their customers know. Something feels fishy. This isn't your generic tailor/dry cleaners (although they do all of that basic stuff too!!). No. This is high end, upscale perfection. There's no mess or fuss around the front counter; I love the uncluttered feel of the lobby. And I was always offered cold water in a bottle when I arrived. Lara (Larissa) handled my tailoring. The pricing can feel pretty high and by the time I went to pick up, I had decided I wanted a different part of it taken in, too. After moving across the country, with our possessions sitting in a shipping container for an extended duration, we wanted to clean some of our items including, in particular, a Knoll Womb Chair in bouclé fabric. We weren't sure how to clean the chair ourselves given the fabric and had reached out to a number of cleaning professionals with no luck; despite high reviews, all of the companies we reached out to just took down the generic fact that it was "a reading chair" (ignoring the details about material) which gave us little confidence that they would do a good job. Luckily, we were referred to Zach at Jeeves by a Knoll store in New York (which mentioned that another previous client had had a positive experience with their on-site cleaning services). Upon reaching out to Zach, it was clear that we were in good hands -- he immediately called out the special fabric and carefully explained how he would clean the chair (which went above and beyond the care instructions we ended up finding from Knoll). I'm happy to report that despite our already-lofty expectations, when Zach came by and cleaned the chair, he even further exceeded our expectations. Notably: 1. Zach was remarkably detailed-oriented when doing the job. As he cleaned, I noticed that he would initially spot test the dry cleaning solvents he was planning to use on hard-to-see parts of the chair (e.g. the bottom or the back) to ensure that the chemicals struck the right balance between being gentle on the chair, but still cleaning the fabric. The entire job was done by hand and he finished it off by combing over the chair with a hair dryer, taking his time to inspect each patch and ensure that he had done a good job. 2. After finishing the job, Zach went above-and-beyond and took additional time to not only explain what he had done in detail, but also show us how to do it ourselves in the future; it was clear that Zach saw beyond the exchange on a purely transactional level and cared about us as customers. All in all, our experience with Jeeves was overwhelmingly positive. I have been a loyal customer to Jeeves for years because I always trusted its quality of cleaning designer's clothes. However, I decide to stop to go there any longer due to two things I have experienced: 1) Alterations: I have gradually found out the alterations service has been disappointing. There were three occasions that I had to go back to store to ask the tailors to redo the alterations of my clothes, as they incorrectly altered it. The store re-did the alterations at no charge the first two times, however, they refused to re-alter my leather skirt at no charge on the third time. Reasons the manager gave were illogical with no reasoning supporting arguments. He started to say the tailor did not alter the part I found unfit and that should be a new service. Later, he changed to say that it had been over half year since the service was done, and my body could have changed during that that time. I found what he said and reasons he gave were extremely rude and unprofessional. First of all, if the store has half year policy of re-do alteration at free charge, they should let customers know in advance. I have been using Jeeves for years without being told such policy until September 2018, which is not acceptable. Secondly, saying customer's body may change based on no evidence is extremely disrespectful. When the tailor measured to alter my leather skirt (the waist part), he should have known the ratio of how to alter the skirt without making other parts of skirt (hip part) unfit (too tight to put on) to the person. That is the professionalism of the tailor should be. The tailor failed to do that , that is the accountability the store and tailor should take, they should not / never absolve themselves from responsibility! 2) Dry cleaning: the Jeeves says it is good to remove buttons when dry cleaning and it is charged with pretty high prices for even dry cleaning one piece of shirt, including the charges of removing and re-sewing buttons. However, the quality of re-sewing buttons does not match the prices it is charged for. The removed buttons of clothes are poorly re-sewed, as it results of loose buttons or missing buttons. For those that can afford to upscale their drycleaning I highly recommend having your precious garments cared for at Jeeves. For my expensive high-end wear i wouldn't trust any other cleaner. Each time I've gotten clothes back I'm impressed with the delicate detail and it really shows with the quality of the cleaning. Odors removed and not replaced with that dry clean smell, sweaters de-pilled, and pleats replaced. And, not that I travel to London much but if I did I'd be happy to know that I could find my dry cleaner there. read more

Weddings are stressful and you might say I am a BRIDEZILLA. I trekked all the way up to 65th (I live in the WV/Union Sq) to have Jeeves New York custom fit my wedding dress after hearing such good things about the work they do. 1) The dress is vintage. BUT, it didn't fit... so I really had no choice but to get it altered by the utmost professionals. I was still extremely worried even after having heard such good things. 2) There was a lot of intricate bead work on the dress. Another concern. 3) I came in for a fitting and it had to be taken in around the bust, and shortened by 3 inches. SCARY. I come back to pick up the dress, try it on, and am speechless. It fit absolutely perfectly. I couldn't believe it but there were actually no signs of the alterations... even with all the beading. Length was perfect as well. They even cleaned the dress for me because I was a first-time customer!!! I will definitely be using Jeeves for all alterations AND cleanings in the future. Also, I noticed when I came in that they do good work on leather. There is absolutely no where I can trust near where I live, so I will likely be coming back to Jeeves with my 2yr old leather Prada purse for a cleaning... After visiting Jeeves, I just love self help, because it is faster and almost free. I brought to Jeeves the white designer's jacket with yellow stains that appeared from cleaning it with chlorine. When I was taking my jacket back after "cleaning", I did not see the stains in the lobby of Jeeves. The report was also not attached to the jacket and I assumed that everything was cool and clean. The lights there seemed made specially to prevent you from seeing the stains (the yellow stains are just invisible on white with those lamps' light). So I paid the bill $76 and went outside. It was a sunny day. I looked at my jacket outside and noticed the same yellow stains that became even more heavy. I came back to Jeeves and a manager Jerry said that they will try to fix the stains again. I came to pick up my jacket 2nd time several days later. The stains still were there. Jeeves has policy not to issue the refunds. I came 3 times from Downtown of NYC to Upper East side's Jeeves for disappointments. The jacket was beautiful and almost new, but not wearable with those yellow stains. So I had to do something, and I went online to learn from there how to do the cleaning. It was easy and inexpensive. I kept my jacket for some amount of time in hot water, mixed with lemon juice, and then put it to dry on the sun. Now, my jacket is new again!! Next time, I sure will skip traveling from Downtown to the Upper East side "high class" dry cleaning enterprise Jeeves, who does their "unparalleled quality of work"... read more

I had an expensive bridesmaid gown from a past wedding that I wanted to use again for my friend's ceremony (I shelled out the bucks for an Amsale gown, gotta use it more than once!) but the bust and shoulders fit differently 2 years later. I brought the dress to Jeeves and got it fit perfectly. Jerry (the owner) was really friendly and helpful as we discussed how to re-fit the top. It's a one shoulder gown so had built-in cups which he replaced and re-aligned for the new fit, and he did an expert job shortening the straps and redoing the darting around the chest. The dress is very delicate gauzey silk, so i was concerned that too many alterations could "overwork" and damage the fabric, but he hid the seams and made it look as if i purchased it this way. He also dry-cleaned it before returning it for me, removing what i thought were some permanent stains on the bottom (last wedding i wore this too was on grass...but you wouldn't know now!) I just returned to apartment on 62nd from Jeeves of Belgravia, and whether or not they fix the stain on a secondhand Monique Lhuillier, reminiscent of Sharon Stone Golden Globes gown for Casino win, I will rave about these people for the rest of my life. For everyday, I'm a fan of Jeffreys. It's where I do all my dry cleaning and fluff and fold, bringing clothes (dry cleaning not fluff and fold) from Santa Barbara and LA every 2 months because we have these total price-gouging, complacent, arrogant goniffs (or if you prefer, ganefs) in Santa Barbara. Their position is basically this: "Screw you, there's no competition in this town and you want that thing cleaned? You're going to pay double the most expensive place in America to live. Alternately, you want that zipper fixed? It's 42 dollars (hidden zipper on used Versace dress) and you get what you pay for." The man at Ecocleaners--ironically less expensive than our high-end kill-the-earth cleaners like Ablitt's and St Paul's or Martinizing--was insufferable and clearly does not have a future as a psychologist because I am a very calm, undemanding customer (so say my New Yorker friends at restaurants because I'm fine with slow service or mistakes), but attitude like that doesn't fly with me. I got that hidden zipper fixed for 35 at Peppino's on Lex between 61st and 62nd, BUT I also got a free press on a dress for the LaGuardia gala this May at Peppino's on Lex and 61st so it was a bargain. I will NEVER go to those ultra-hostile people on 62nd, both equally awful on both sides of the street (see Peppino's compare/contrast review on Yelp in May). I'd rather overpay a nice person than some SB discount green cleaner who is lecturing me on money management and value. I'm no Goldman Sachs girl (I didn't even take econ in college) but that is something "up with which I will not put," as Churchill memorably said. So I had a great talk over the phone about these mysterious stains which seem to have materialized in the coat closet of the NYC apartment I live 3 months a year. I walked over and after being buzzed in--t's 65th between Mad and 5th where the Roosevelts lived--how cool is that?--the man at the desk told me he'd spoken with me over the phone. The prognosis: not bad. It will totally mess up the first black tie anything I've had in 18 months at the Cape. This man is the Ph.D. of dry cleaning and over-the-top nice and cool. The manager asked my name and I said I'd already raved on FB and whether or not they fix this thing, I have the utmost confidence that they're the best game in town for couture stains, at least if you are someone who cannot pay Madame Paulette 400 or 600 dollars to fix a terminal stain. Not only that, they are masters of inductive reasoning. I hypothesized that malevolent aliens had attacked the white silk. My friends said that a clear stain left in a closet (invisible upon hanging the garment) can oxidize and produce a stain. But it turns out that this gown was in a coat closet and the stains are precisely those of a button on a parka. Mystery solved. See, it's not supernatural. Whatever happens and YES I AM SO BUMMED that I have a white/black gown for a James Bond 50th Anniversary party in which men will don white dinner jackets and I'll be in a black dress with a gray lace bodice which goes only to mid calf--I am in love with this place. read more

Worth. Every. Dollar. Even worth the travel from East Village. I used to go to the cleaners near my apartment in East Village out of convenience - and still do on occasion for basic wash and fold. -Horrific customer service- Which is bad since that's basically the whole point of this service. I spent $800 here the last time I went so you'd think they'd hold their customers in higher regard. My boyfriend's brother got married last weekend in NYC. Their mother and father (of the groom) flew in from Michigan. When they opened their suitcases, his suit and shirt were wrinkled beyond belief (stupid airport employees) and her dress was a mess!!! Another groomsman flew in from California - same situation! A few years ago I lost a significant amount of weight and had to have several favorite pieces of clothing altered. I was a bit nervous about Jeeves (even though they came highly recommended) as I had never used them before and these were pieces I really treasured. I even offered to come back and try things on before they delivered them, just in case. The guy there assured me it wasn't necessary. I didn't believe him -- but he was right. Everything was absolutely perfect. I've also brought in items to dryclean, including slipcovers. There was one specific blouse I really loved, but it was white lace that had yellowed over time, and I was advised to let it go. I appreciated the honesty. Because of all this, and despite living nowhere near Jeeves, I make the trip to have them clean or alter anything I really care about. read more
