Well, I don't know if it is jeffrey who answers the phone (jeffie) but the soft spoken gentleman picks up the phone and is at your door to pick up laundry in a ridiculously short amount of time. This dry cleaner is like ordering at a chinese restaurant--umm i'll take the OH HERE IT IS! They are so damn fast its amazing. I called and asked to pick up laundry, hopped in the shower and he got to my door a few blocks away in the 100 degree heat while I was still in the shower! WTF! The way this guy works he should have an empire within a year... The prices are fantastic too...it is actually like $5 more to have my laundry picked up and delivered, done perfectly, and folded perfectly, than it is to do a bad job myself. And since I hate doing laundry, this is quite the arrangement. By the way Jeffrey, what is your secret? How does anyone fold anything like that? It's fitting that my 100th Yelp review (started in August :) ) is about laundry. I can't stand laundry. Over a lifetime, I have done 2 years of laundry. Even in college, I bailed on the horrible warm crowded depressing basement and opted for fluff and fold. So to have PICKUP and DELIVERY for free in NYC is a veritable miracle (especially in a walkup). Also, Santa Barbara--where I live 6 or so months a year--has the most expensive, obnoxious dry cleaners on the planet. This cleaners is cheaper than the ONLY half-price cleaners in SB (Ecocleaners). A couture Bloomingdales red beaded top was just 8 (16 in SB even at the discount cleaners). Tops and bottoms without anything fancy or special were like 4. A lined dress just 8. I didn't even do my dry cleaning in SB before 3 weeks in the city because this place is great, cheap and appeals to those lazy by nature about logistics. No one who delivers speaks any English. And by ANY English, I mean even the simplest thing, forget about it. But they know what they're doing so you really don't need to communicate. Today I will send out my dog hair-covered overcoat with fox trim. It's the first "difficult" garment I've sent and they will have it back tomorrow evening. Wonderful place! (Oh, re promptness...they are a bit confused or confusing re times of pickup and delivery but it's still faster than the average cleaners in overpriced, service-challenged SB where EVERYTHING about being a girl breaks the bank from nails to waxing to dry cleaning.... Had been getting my laundry done here consistently. It was never great, clothes ended up with small holes and dry cleaning wasn't always clean, but because of convenience I didn't make a big effort to switch until now. $120 worth of dry cleaning and literally every piece was still stained and dirty. We had had this done before our honeymoon and as we were packing we noticed every piece of dry cleaned still had huge stains. It was too late to do anything and found another cleaner who rush cleaned them for the next day. I went back when I returned to tell Jeffreys and ask for a refund. I had pictures of everything and he refused to refund me. He even agreed he knew the grass stains hadn't come out of one pair of pants, but yet he had charged us for them anyway?!! So far so good. I have been using them for Laundry and Dry-cleaning for about a month now and I have not seen any issues. They are not 100% but 80%. Not a big problems. Well I would like to share a story about EBA CLEANERS.... very ridiculous. I used to be a great Eba cleaner customer until they appeared to be not-reliable. Well with all the dry cleanings and laundries, they all make mistakes. (With this small cleaner, they would have to bring it to factory to get dry cleans and laundries... so expectation can't be 100%) sometimes they will lose a sock and they will also bring it back to you later (without saying anything) or not. Sometimes they will mess your clothes up in dry-cleaning and they will re-do the job for you multiple times to get it done properly. Not that this should happen often or not that I would like to see these occuring more than a couple times but at least, they NEEDS to be RESPONSIBLE for what they did if I bring any issues up. (Come on its a business). Eba cleaner ruined very expensive blouse (my girl friend's) claiming that their dry cleaning company that they use did it. So I told them if they can fix the problem (huge oil stain front and back) and the lady said she will. Quote "I WILL FIX THIS FOR YOU AT NO CHARGE, NOT A PROBLEM FOR YOU" - very compelling I trusted her. She came back a couple days later when I went there to pick up saying the blouse is ruined and there is nothing she can do about it. Hm.. I was paused for a sec and asked her if she can be responsible about it. She said its not her problem but dry-cleaning company she is using....(hmmm common sense what do you think?) I argued back and forth saying she should be responsible....... She does not understand... does not want to be responsible... kept saying that she will give me 5% discount next time.....(make sense?) So after that incident... i have switched to Jefferey's, hoping not the same problem happens... DO NOT USE EBA CLEANER. Utterly irresponsible people. I dropped my laundry off this morning and, when I was asked by the lady at the counter (whom I've never seen before, and is clearly just incompetent) if ok to deliver tomorrow morning, I stated NO, I needed it tonight. I asked twice if they could. I was told YES. For the love of god, there are two other launderers within close distance--had they told me they could not, I would have simply dropped my laundry at one of those two. Thanks a lot. On other occasions, I have also had like 15 panties that do not belong to me included in my bag, amongst other things. I mean--really. WTF. I'll definitely start going somewhere else. read more

I've been using Jeffrey's Cleaners since I moved into the neighborhood in June 2013. Before that I never sent my laundry out but Jeffrey's is so cheap so why not? In all those laundry loads, I've had Jeffrey's shrink a pair of pants, which is weird because it's been washed multiple times before so I'm thinking the pants itself is a bad material. My solution is to wear it around the house to hopefully stretch it back out. One time, my fiance needed his jacket hemmed before we went on vacation. We were leaving Tues morning and they said they'd have it done Monday night (or some timing of that sort). When I went to get it Monday night, they said they didn't have it ready, and so being upset, they rushed hemmed it within 15-20 min. Besides those two incidents and some missing socks, which would've happened if I did my laundry anyways, Jeffrey's has really good service. Everything is always folded so perfectly (how???) and laundry is always done within a day. Also, Alan at the front is super nice. Considering I've been doing my laundry here for 9 months and only have experienced those two mishaps, this is a great place, and for the price, you can't beat it. If you're sensitive to chemicals in detergents, I would ask Alan to use your own detergent. I think I have to start doing this. Their detergent is pungent and makes my fiance's skin itch sometimes. Of course, this is only if you have a chemical sensitivity. Otherwise, then their detergent is great because it cleans all our clothes really well! Tip: Accepts credit card over $10 read more

Been using Jeffrey's for a while now and it seems like the place has a new owner now. The delivery system has drastically improved from before. The laundry I've been recieving has been clean and neatly folded when received. You can expect same day deliveries if the clothes are handed in earlier in the morning or afternoon ( earlier then 12 pm or 1pm ) dry cleaning will usually take 2 days. The service here has been good with helpful staffs. 10/10 would recommend. read more

Sometimes it can take until the next evening get it back, but I think compared to other places that's not bad. The FOLDING is amazing. It's like a thing of beauty. I posted one pic of my perfectly-folded towels on facebook and people were impressed. They also got out a stain out of a white shirt (that I thought would never come out). I didn't even ask them to, but it just came back perfect. I would have probably just thrown it out because I have no patience for getting stains out, so that was a nice surprise. The man is of few words, so you do have to tell him what you want when you call. But he's nice, and I definitely trust them a lot to get my laundry done. The guy works hard and I think he does a great job. Note: I'd never had to send laundry out before, so the first time I called I was confused. But you basically just tell them your address and they pick up your laundry, and you pay when they return it. and of course tip them! read more

My boyfriend and I were visiting New York CIty from Seattle, WA. We stayed at a hotel on the Upper Eastside, and halfway through our vacation we needed to have some laundry done. Looking online at Yelp.com, we noticed that Jeffrey's had excellent reviews from local New Yorkers, so we thought, "why not? Let's give this local business a shot." We called Jeffrey's at 5:30pm, and requested a pick up from our hotel. He said "okay", got our address, and our phone number. An hour later, no one had shown up to get our laundry. So I called again. The same man answered the phone, and seemed to have no recollection of me calling before. I gave him the same request, he asked me for my address again, and said that he would be to my hotel room by 7pm. At 7:20pm, he finally arrived to our hotel room. Unfortunately, however, he took one look at our small bag of laundry, and said, "No, too small", and turned away. This seemed quite rude and abrupt, and was confusing for us, since he made the trip to our hotel, but simply refused to take our laundry. It seems that if there were certain stipulations surrounding the matter of laundry quantity, he would have said something about the matter over the telephone. But no. He did not. And so, we were still without clean laundry. I realize that as a non-New Yorker, I may not be familiar with the unspoken rules of laundrette, but it still frustrated me that the rules and expectations were not more clear at the beginning of the service. Because of this frustrating experience, my boyfriend and I were forced to stay in our hotel room in NYC for 2.5 hours in the evening, waiting for laundry pickup, when we could have been out doing something more productive. read more

You should be prepared that if Jeffrey's ruins an item they will not take any responsibility. They mistakenly washed and machine dried my $400 silk dress that was to be dry cleaned. Not only was this an unacceptable mistake, but when I called to complain they did not care at all and refused to even refund the $15 cost of the laundry, telling me to dispute the charge with my credit card company. Nor was an apology offered, though I have been an excellent weekly customer for six months. When a dry cleaner ruins your garment through their own carelessness, they should reimburse a fair amount. I tried this service for the first time today. Great pricing! Quick pick-up and delivery. Everything seems fresh and clean. None of my items seem to have shrunken, and I think I got everything back. Pick up and delivery is surely the best thing about Jeffrey Cleaners. I don't know if that is standard practice for wash and fold, but I certainly love it, and it is quite affordable. Cheapest in the area, no doubt - 65 cents a pound for laundry and reasonable dry cleaning prices. However, I feel I can't afford Jeffrey because he gave someone else my pillowcase (and me theirs), ironed my back pocket flap halfway inside the pocket so I had to iron freshly dry-cleaned pants myself, and lost a sweatband I can't replace. I used to Bring all of my husband's shirts for wash and hand press. Apparently ownership changed. My husband's $300 tuxedo shirt came back with a rip in the back. When I brought the shirt in -- the salesperson had the audacity to tell me I ripped it! I asked her very nicely to make things right with me and that she could submit it to insurance, she was so rude and told me repeatedly that I ripped it and that it wasn't her problem. I couldn't believe the way I was being treated and spoken to. When I asked for the owner, she told me she was the new owner. Will never again use this place!!!! HORRIBLE! read more

I was a satisfied customer until they damaged my wife's rain coat. No problem -- these types of things happen. I wasn't worried about it when the counterman said they would fix it in a few days. I would stop in once or twice a week to drop off more laundry or dry cleaning and ask about the progress of my repair. It was always "this week or next week" and I took it on face value (silly me!) After waiting almost 6 weeks for the repair (yes, six weeks!), I finally gave up and retrieved the damaged item and took it to another place for repair. Things happen -- that's the nature of business. You can't clean thousands of items with no problems. It's how you deal with the problems that determines whether you are a reputable business. Jeffrey's failed this test. I will never take anything to them again. Not because they damaged something, but because they misrepresented that they were going to fix it and never did. BTW, Efi's Cleaners and Eda's Laundramat (both on 62nd Street) do good work at a fair price. read more

I lived next to this place for a year and they did all of my laundry, and surprisingly enough nothing ever got ruined, nothing got lost, and I never ended up with someone else's stuff. Honestly I miss this place more than my old apartment. read more

I picked up the white washing I dropped off and it was dirtier than when it was dropped off. I came back right away to complain and the guy refused to acknowledge that is was dirtier and said I'd have to pay to have it washed again. He was so unhelpful and rude and I will never go here again. read more

I was having issues with pickup/delivery being late, but they seem to have gotten better again. Be careful of putting sweaters in - I think they use hot water so I have had things shrunken (probably my own fault though). read more

I have used this cleaner since moving to the Sutton Place area 3 years ago and am always extremely pleased. Not only do they provide same day pick up and delivery at the most reasonable and inexpensive price I have found in the area, but they do an excellent job. All clothing is always folded and cleaned perfectly. They have never lost an item of clothing AND have always returned anything accidentally placed into the laundry (including expensive items of jewelry). HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! read more

Just to moved to the area and tried this place out because it had some great reviews. Unfortunately, I can't say the same. 1. The pick-up and drop-off service is a "thing of beauty" only if it's reliable. Let me assure you it is not. They told me all I had to do was call when I got home and to get my laundry picked up. They were open until 7:30. However, when I did call at 6:30 they told me the hours are 9 to 6pm for delivery even though they're open til 7:30. Who is home from work between 9 and 6pm? 2. They finally delivered the clothes at 6:30pm after a supreme attitude, however, IT WAS MISSING HALF OF OUR CLOTHES. None of the socks, underwear, etc. were included. Called back to inform them of this and once again got an attitude. 3. I was going to call the next evening to schedule a pickup of the forgotten clothes, but came home to find that they were dropped off in the middle of the day with no notification. They were sitting outside. You are reading this correctly, they dropped off the forgotten clothes OUTSIDE of my apartment for anyone to steal. Thankfully my landlord found them at some point and brought them in. 4. They ruined a sweater by washing it with the wrong colors. It's not rocket science. I understand these things happen but I had a previous wash and fold place that only ruined 1 shirt in 3 years. This place is 0 for 1. I know 1 bad occurrence doesnt mean it will happen for everyone, but it was like Murphy's law with this delivery. Nothing went properly. I can only hope the clothes were actually cleaned. As nice as the pick-up/drop-off is, its not worth it. Go somewhere else and use the few extra minutes to drop it off your self. read more

Had used their pick up laundry service at least half a dozen times in the past 3 months based on other reviews here. Yes, nice folding job; smelled clean; we don't put the nice stuff in so no damage to report nor anything missing.....except my dirty laundry is now missing. Straw meets back: Called at 8am for a pick up today as usual. At 1pm, received a call that the laundry bag was not found where I left it....huh? Maybe another pick up service took ours by mistake? TBD. But a trust worthy neighbor said she saw the bag at 10am when she left for work AND 2:30 pm when she came home for lunch. When I called JC back to ask what time they came to pick it up in an attempt to fill in the blanks - his answer was 'I don't remember'. When asked why it took the assumed 5 hours to attempt the pick up based on the 1pm phone call, his answer was 'it was busy'. So rong Jeffie! read more

I am just as confused as the last reviewer. Jeffrey Cleaners totally shrunk the first load of laundry I brought to them. Almost every item was smaller - towels and all. Still, because of the great reviews, I thought it must have been a fluke, but maybe that was my mistake. I went back for my next load and told the man behind the counter, who seems to understand and speak English just fine, that I wanted my clothes dried on a lower heat setting. He said he understood and would make a note of it. After this, I'm not sure what happened. I don't know if he misunderstood me or if someone misunderstood his note, but this time everything was shrunk beyond repair. I can't imagine how high the heat was or how long they were dried for, but I am devastated. Of course, I only brought my t-shirts and such back the second time - nothing of extremely high value - but still I can't believe how unbelievably small everything is. I can't emphasize this enough. I don't know if something has changed about this place recently, but I would never in a million years think to give it five stars. They ruined my clothes. read more

This place is hit or miss. It's more expensive than a few in the area and sometimes they just don't do the one job they have. They ironed in a wrinkle into a silk shirt. They don't get obvious stains out unless you tell them twice and have them process the item again. They double charged me for a shirt because they thought it was a dress (how? I don't know - it would be tough to confuse the two). Other than that, they clean clothes. What else can you expect? read more

I sent my laundry to Jeffrey for the first time based on the reviews here on YELP. My laundry came back with a brand new towel - -never used with a bleach spot. Great services. I've been using their dry cleaning for couple months. Did great job on my clothes.

My laundry was done on the same day, which is expected from doing a wash and fold from everywhere. However, it was a process. They did not speak english at all, I was a new customer and they didn't ask for my name or contact information- I had to literally say to them "don't you need my name and phone number?". I work long hours, so I wanted to see if I would be able to pick it up on my way home. When I asked what time they closed, the woman behind the desk said 5:00 pm. I then looked at the little sign on the door that said 7:00 pm. When I confronted her, she said oh yes, 7 pm. Not one day that week did they close at 5:00pm (per the door sign). I was honestly nervous all day that they would have lost my laundry. They did get everything back to me later that night, so I am giving them 2 stars. Other than that, it really was not a good experience and I have not been back. read more

I've been using this cleaner for pickup/delivery wash n fold service for the past 6 months. The only good things about this place is that it's the cheapest in the area and the delivery/pick up is free. What really pisses me off is that they never come when you request or when they say they will. They always show up 40 minutes later (or longer), one time they didn't even show up when they already told me they would. They didn't even have the courtesy to tell me they can't or that they weren't coming. I called them 10 minutes before closing to find out what happened and no answer. I called again the next day and they didn't offer an explanation or apology. They said they'd come, they did but an hour after they told me they were coming. It is a complete waste of the customer's time. I always have to plan my day around waiting for them. They also Waste the liquid detergent I give them to use on my laundry. I once gave them a new bottle of liquid detergent meant for 32 loads and they returned it to me 1/4 used. I certainly didn't send enough laundry for 8 loads. I have no idea what they're doing with my detergent but it is infuriating. I will not be using them anymore and advise you not to either unless you have a lot of time and detergent to waste. read more
