First time trying Jeff's and I was not disappointed! I ordered the Big Stack ($16), and my husband ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken ($16). I was shocked at my portion, but very happy! For the price, you really can't beat it. The biscuits were fluffy, and very tasty. I loved the sausage, wasn't chewy at all! My husband thought the hasbrowns were a little too overcooked. Don't get me wrong, we love crunchy hashbrowns, but there wasn't any soft bits. The chicken was good, but smaller than he anticipated. The strawberry lemonade ($4) was tasty, and so was the root beer ($3). We spent $42 in total for our two plates and two drinks. The restaurant is cute inside, with a model train cruising around the ceiling! The bathrooms are single stall, which is awesome... they were spacious and clean. Our waitress was nice, the service was fast. The restaurant was packed and we got our food within 5 mins of ordering. I'd definitely recommend stopping in!

Jeff's California Cattle Co. Is a solid breakfast place located in the heart of Redding. We stopped in on a Saturday morning (crowds expected) but we're seated and served promptly and in a timely manner. I ordered the chicken fried steak (served on hash browns) with eggs and toast. A hearty amount of food, I couldn't even finish half of it. My only complaint was that I wanted more of the sausage gravy on top :) My husband got the NY Steak and eggs, and was happy my plate was so huge because he felt like his steak was a bit smaller than he hoped. With that, it was cooked well and he still enjoyed it. The food was good, the service was up to par and overall we enjoyed our experience. I wouldn't steer you away if you're considering giving them a try!

Jamie, our server, was a sight for sore eyes. Food was plentiful and fairly priced. As to the gourmet aspect in regard to their omelette preparations, let's just say a little above average. Coffee Mugs cool looking, coffee quality slightly above average to be nice. They have their own personable place, and apparently many glowing reviews. Does it beat Denny's? No doubt. Black Bear yes. Will I stop by again, doubtful. Service right on the money. 4 Stars.

*** BEST BREAKFAST IN REDDING *** I've been coming here for 20+ years and it's still just as good as ever. The food quality is incredible I ALWAYS get the chicken fried steak. It's honestly the best I've ever had. So tender and flavorful and the gravy is perfect. I have never had a bad meal here. Every time I come in to town we make it a point to come here for breakfast at least once. My only knock on this place is it's on the smaller side so you may need to wait to be seated

Hey there Party People, Once again on a road trip with Hubby and we decided to be adventurous so we went to Jeff's California Cattle. It should be on "Diners Drive-in and Dives" show. This place had fantastic service and a short wait. The cool part was this great train that runs on a track along the restaurant. I am an Onion Ring Snob...they have to have the right crunch without being burnt as well as planko batter so they aren't soggy. This place did a perfect Onion Ring. I had the Chef salad which was on point. My Husband had the Gunslinger. He asked for a side of Au Jus to dip. The Tri-tip was tender and not salty had a great flavor. The Chili's added a nice layer of flavor. The cherry on top was dipping in the Au Jus sauce, which they did NOT charge extra for If your in the Redding area and want a great place with wonderful food at a reasonable price then this is a must Be kind to one another

Chicken fried steak (New York cut) hash browns and eggs, gravy on the side, toast and coffee! Delicious and good service!

I had the chicken fried steak breakfast, the steak was a New York steak, it was wonderful! The whole meal was wonderful, coffee was terrific, Service was great! I will go again next time I'm in Redding!

Seated immediately at this 19th century train themed restaurant on Cypress Ave in Redding. They're ONLY open for breakfast and lunch so plan your visit accordingly. The staff was very cordial and although they did try to nudge me toward the 8oz chicken fried steak option, my gut told me that the 4oz that was pounded out, battered and fried would end up plenty large for me. I was right :) I chose the hash browns over the country potatoes because I can't make those at home as well. Got my eggs median and some wheat toast...now that's a full meal. I was disappointed in the chicken fried steak as it seemed mechanical ponded out and battered with the clean lines and mediocre batter. The gravy wasn't as bad as I expected but it didn't taste if fresh made sausage gravy. The meal was pretty well priced and I got all I needed to eat. It's worth a stop if your hungry but I'd recommend trying some other items on the menu. Not bad but but great either.

Love the decor in here! It's a cozy place but you have to expect the noisy atmosphere. We were seated promptly and our order was in shortly after. Food is always good here and too much to finish. Don't expect crispy on hash browns though - evidently they don't do crispy!

Located in the Placer Heights Plaza, next to Starbucks. Same plaza as Holiday Market and CVS Pharmacy. We were seated immediately as they were not busy. The menu was a bit different than online. Our server came to take our order. He didn't introduce himself and seemed like he didn't want to be there. We decided on the fried green tomatoes, fried chicken sandwich and catfish po' boy. When the po' boy came out, we thought it was burnt! We didn't know the catfish will be blackened by default. We thought it will be fried since it is a po' boy. The options can be blackened or fried based on the menu online. We were not given those options by our server. They brought out the food but didnt provide utensils until minutes later. Fried green tomatoes: It was good. Fried perfectly. The dressing that was tossed with the side salad was super salty. Catfish po' boy: Fish was tender but super salty as well. Fried chicken sandwich: Pretty good sandwich. Chicken was huge. The fries was so soggy, not crispy at all. Also very greasy. We were a bit disappointed as we drove out of our way to try this place. Nice ambiance though. I felt I was a bit underdressed lol

There's a good amount of seating for the size of the place and they had a small bar area which I thought was a nice touch. Solid little spot of people to stop by and grab a bite to eat.

We chose Woody's because our little one wanted mac 'n cheese and they have some of the best in town! I cannot rave enough about the restaurant and how well they handled the party. The booking process was easy and completed via e-mail. This aspect was handy as I didn't have to leave the house or make a phone call on a busy day. The gentleman I spoke to answered all of my questions during the booking process. On the day of the party, we showed up a few minutes early to put up some decorations. A waitress and waiter came and greeted us right away. The owner even came by, promptly, and introduced himself to me. The kindess and professionalism was outstanding. Our waitress (I wish I remembered her name! I feel terribly that I can't provide it.) did an outstanding job! We were a big group of people and she took all of our orders, answered questions, and helped us with anything we needed. I hope it can be determined who worked that day so she can be given her kudos as she was lovely! Lastly, the kitchen staff did a great job getting our food out in a timely manner. I was impressed by their speed and the food was delicious. As the restaurant was busy, we didn't have a chance to say thank you one final time before we left. So, thank you again, Woody's! I tried, because I do not like to waste, but I couldn't stomach that combo. The side salad was actually great so I ate that, but essentially, $30 for a side salad is no bueno.

My husband got the spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs were very good and had lots of flavor but the marinara was also quite bland and the garlic bread was a joke. The fried artichokes and salad were good, but the entree is the most important part and they totally dropped the ball. Very disappointing.
