For the past couple years I've been staying at the Red Lion Hotel about once a month for business. My favorite part is checking in and having a cocktail in the restaurant. The same bartender, I believe her name is Denise, is so kind and welcoming. I stay at a lot of hotels for work, and have sat at many hotel bars, served by many bartender's. She is one of the best bartenders; she is professional, funny, and is one of the reasons I always come back! I hope her boss sees this! read more

We did a carry out dinner (Flat Iron Sampler, onion rings & wine) and were very happy with quality, price, value and timeliness, and the staff. They even helped me carry it out to my car as my hands were full. The dining room and bar was a bit dated in appearance but the customers there seemed happy. The server mentioned a band was coming later too (Friday night). I'd also add that the portion sizes were perfect, not too big and not too small (though we received an incredible amount of onion rings for $5.00!) We picked the Red lion because they had an in-house bar and grill. It's so much easier when traveling to park the truck and just go have dinner and cocktails without trying to find an off-site restaurant. This place was kind of like an old school Red Lion from our past. Fun bar that was packed with locals dancing on a Wednesdays night for live country music. There were several TVs playing sports. A very nice menu, our food was yummy and portions were large at a good price. Drinks were great, and the bartender was very nice and attentive, especially for such a busy night. This is a review for the restaurant, but as we stayed at the hotel, have to say it's an all-around win. The restaurant is probably a local contract and separate from the hotel. The menu said something about thanks for supporting local business. It's always great over a franchise. read more

Found this place in Redding and didn't realize it was in a Red Lion Hotel. No problem the food and service was good but ambiance ok.

This Red Lion Hotel and its Bar and Grill deserve a top rating from us. After being on the road for 10 hours, we were tired and beat. We found the grill conveniently located off the main lobby. It was 8pm and Matt, our bar tender took good care of us. The drinks were great, the service prompt. The food was superb and expertly prepared. In addition, we had live music on a Sunday night! The whole experience was excellent. Redding is the midpoint for our journey. And now we have this experience to tell all our friends about. In addition, this Red Lion hotel is very dog friendly. The ground floor rooms have a sliding door that leads direcly outside. The floor in our room was not carpeted and so was really perfect for our dogs. read more

On our way to the PNW we stopped at the Red Lion overnight. We were happy that they have a bar and restaurant in the building as we had just spent 7.5 hrs in the car and didn't want to get back behind the wheel. Chef and the bartender both made the evening very pleasant. Chef was so personable and we talked cooking and food. Here shrimp cocktail and taquitos were superb. The biggest surprise, though was the Veggie Bowl! Veggies were fresh and a great variety and I could eat a bowl of the cilantro, lime and pesto rice by itself!! Update: Just ordered take out and we are so impressed! It was refreshing to see a restaurant take special care with presentation and freshness of their food and cocktails. We've eaten at other local places that throw food in a box and our eyes are not pleased. We also ordered a burger but it was devoured before we could take a picture! This is a very nice surprise! I was staying at the Red Lion and read reviews about this place. They sounded good so I thought I'd try it. My waitress was great and I tried the salmon special at her recommendation. I was not disappointed!! The salad had fresh greens and veggies and the blue cheese dressing was homemade and very good. The bread had garlic cloves baked into it and it was also excellent. The entree came and it was delicious. I thick salmon slice that was perfectly prepared accompanied by a corn side made from fresh corn right off the cob in a delicious cream based sauce with deep fried avocado slices (very good) and a couple very nice onion rings. Redding is generally a weak restaurant town but this is a very nice exception. Recommend highly. read more

This place is awesome! I stayed at the Red Lion Inn last summer in between moving. The staff is wonderful and we absolutely love the appetizers that are 20% off. The atmosphere is super relaxed with a beautiful view of Red Lions gorgeous swimming pool. You can even order your food and have it delivered to you pool side. They have really fun local bands that play on the weekends. Very much for older more mature crowds that enjoy good music, good food reasonably priced drinks in a relaxed environment. read more

Staying at the Red Lyon Hotel. Saw the reviews for Three Shastas Bar & Grill and was excited to try their Fish and Chips & Clam Chowder. I went about 4:30PM and it was pretty empty so I sat at the bar, since the bartender was the only one working. First off, the customer next to me ordered the house salad and it looked nice and fresh. After tasting my soup I felt I too should have had the house salad instead of the chowder which was bland and warm. Once I added a lot of salt and pepper it tasted better. The fish and chips were cooked perfectly golden. I ordered the apple pie and ice cream to go. It was ok. The bartender Ony was laid back and attentive. read more

This bar and grill is extremely nice and clean! Excellent customer service was provided throughout the whole time. The booths are so comfortable. The food costs pricey, but it's definitely worth what you pay for. I can say the price equals the quantity. You won't be disappointed! This restaurant is definitely by far one of the best I've been to regarding the delicious dishes that was beyond my expectation plus the beverages. They have happy hour so check in with that for an awesome deal. I just can't leave the drinks out! I had the best strawberry lemonade. They are common so to say the best, it's like 5 stars itself! Not too sweet and not too sour. Literally perfect. Also, my boyfriend says their Great White beer is really great like the name says. Our time there was wonderful! Passing through Redding on a road trip, I looked in Yelp for recommendations and saw that this place got four stars. Loaded up the kids and put the address in the map and then arrived at ... the Red Lion Inn?? I am no Redding local, but was glad to find this place per Red Lion desk clerk recommendation. Let's discuss... The aesthetics: Like something straight from the early 90s with teal vinyl booth like seating bordering an entire side of the interior. There is a small wooden dance floor. There are swivel chairs along the length of the bar. The oval tall tables (one side bordering the vinyl booths) also had random tall chairs scattered about. There is a pool table in a separate room with red lights hanging over. The service: an elderly bar lady who gets away with calling everyone sweetie is manning the bar and the food. She rocks. The people: Every other person is either 1) sporting a mullet or 2) overweight The food: Some gems on the menu like hazelnut crusted salmon pear salad. I had the quesadilla which was made with dark yellow tortillas, delicious and I don't have a cheese hangover today. My fiance had the club sandwich with potato wedges which he devoured, and proclaimed to be delicious. The verdict: go here for something you may never see again, cheap eats, mixed drinks and awesome people watching. read more

With three different service areas I tried, I am going to split them into the two that seemed to make sense to me. This one-- not so good. I walked into the lounge on a Monday night and sat in back, away from the noise of the TV. The waitress greeted me in a timely manner, and brought me menu and told me the specials. She was very sweet and seemed the only server in the room. The place was quiet and I think I was only her third party to serve. Bread, reheated in a microwave, arrived quickly, along with ice water. The butter was whipped and not too cold, which is how I like it. The sourdough bread was tasty. Soon after that, the wine I ordered arrived. Timing was not at all an issue for this meal. The salad was especially nice. The problem was the special. When I see grilled salmon on the menu, and am not warned that the fish will be smothered in canned salsa, I am not a happy camper when I find salmon is: A. overcooked B.Fishy-smelling C. Frozen, and D. Covered in stuff that masks flavor. *sigh* Thank you, but offers to take it to go don't work if you are staying in a hotel. And if what you are leaving on the plate was left because it was really bad. The other sides--?The pasta and the zucchini? The pasta was very good, as was the zucchini. But really. How many people really like fresh zucchini? So, essentially, I paid $20 for salad, bread, a few pieces of fresh pineapple (in the salsa) a bit of pasta and fresh zucchini... and a few bites of awful salmon. Not a terrible deal, but not what I had hoped for, either. read more

Having arrived at 9PM, I didn't expect much food-wise but I was informed by Christine (front desk for Red Lion) that their restaurant (Three Shastas) was quite good. Dubious, but willing to go to some place without having to drive the behemoth truck, I gave it a go and was yet again very impressed. I was the only customer in the place, but they kept it open for me. The wine selection did NOT match their corporate-provided-list. Instead, the lady running the place suggested something else which was fantastic, and a great deal! She also recommended the fish and chips. It wasn't spectacular, but it was another good bang for the buck. The best part was that about when I was heading out (now past 10PM), Christine arrived to speak with the lady running the restaurant. Turned out it was Christine's bday so they came over and noted we all needed to sing her happy birthday. I know some travelers might not appreciate this, but I have a feeling they could tell I'm easy going and so looped me in with their celebration. We love coming here monthly when we travel into Redding. The restaurant staff and food is AMAZING. The menu has so many options to choose from that sound so good but we order the same things every time - my husband and I share the patty melt (best one I have ever had), the blue cheese and ranch dressing is also so fresh and tasty. Though skeptical, I was looking for something other than Apple$%&@'s, without driving. The initial atmosphere is outdated with low bar seating and a stage for weekend events. The service is excellent (Jennifer), with great recommendations and a honest opinion of the menu. Always a good sign! With unique specials, homemade sauces and dressing I was very surprised. This is a great little dive inside a hotel. I ordered a apple chicken salad and it was fantastic. Te dressing was sweet and tart and not too much of it. Prices are right on as mine was 12 dollars and comes with a basket of bread. It's very quite in here and probably wouldn't have considered it had I not been staying at the hotel. The server was very very nice although the service a bit slow - especially with no one being here. I will be back again for sure! read more

I had dinner here 9/23 while staying at the hotel(Red Lion). The service at this restaurant is not a family environment whatsoever. And the bartender encourages it. At 8:30 there are multiple people that should have been cut off 3 drinks ago having a loud, very graphic conversation that I won't mention. I requested another beer with my meal, saw my waitress ask the bartender for it twice within 1 minute, which the bartender acknowledged both times and never poured the beer. She did however check her phone multiple times, chat with the drunk assholes at the bar, and leave the bar a couple times, but I guess if you're not belly up to the bar you're not important enough to get a beer. Luckily the food was decent and my waitress was nice, except she should have been more assertive in demanding my beer. If it were me I would have walked behind the bar and poured it myself for my customer!!! read more

We arrived in Redding after a 9 hour drive and we're ready for a good dinner. After consulting Yelp and reading the reviews for restaurants near us, we decided to try the Three Shastas restaurant located in the Red Lion Motel. We were not disappointed. It was Thursday night and we got there about 5:30. It was quiet and we were greeted by Jin(sp?) and served our drinks promptly our order taken. My wife had the hazel nut encrusted salad (Have the Demi size-it has the same amount of salmon as the full size). I had been looking forward to a burger and a beer and had the Santa Fe burger and an excellent local IPA draft. The burger was cooked just as I ordered and was delicious and more than I could finish(1/2 #). We then met Karla who is the manager/bartender who took exceptional care of us and really made us feel welcome. She also explained that they used all fresh produce cooked fresh each day unlike the chain restaurants that used frozen fare. This was a pleasant surprise while I stayed at the Red Lion. Small but good menu. The salmon pear salad is really, REALLY good and fresh. Very empty on Sunday and Monday evening, but you still need to be patient with service because there's only one person working bar and restaurant. Food comes out of the kitchen at a good pace though. I'm no Redding local either, but I observed a nice group of Locals in the bar when we stayed at Red Lion. We sat down with beer, (limited selection of three light beers on draft the night we were here) and did some people watching while listening to the live "band". Actually enjoyed the varied selection of music ranging from 60s to present day Lady Gaga. The band consisted of the guy on guitar and the nice lady with a big smile doing vocals. There was plenty of dancing on the dance floor, so, a good place to go if you're staying at the Red Lion. read more

A few simple words great food and music , a few years ago my wife and I had a large group of friends who we would meet there for drinks and dancing . We have a great group still but mainly go there for dinner and their specials which are always good , The staff is great and many mellow folks go there .
