This locally owned business for 30 plus years is a hidden gem. I've had donuts from here before, but not in years. I had a supervisor that would bring us donuts here for our earlier than early morning meetings. I stopped in right before closing while in the area. I ordered what I saw in the case. I ordered 4 donuts: a maple and chocolate old fashion donut, and a blueberry and crumb cake donut. My total was roughly $6.20 or something like that. I thought that was a little high and the crumb cake donut was stale. My son had to dunk it in his glass of milk. My chocolate old fashion was moist and sweeter than I anticipated, but still good. I'll have to stop by again when the case is fuller. read more

Lived in the area for over 25 years and never have stopped here! Decided to go on a whim after dinner to see if the donuts are as good as the reviews. Went in at around 630pm and ordered two donuts and coffee, all for under $5! We had a crumb cake and buttermilk donut. The buttermilk donut was moist and tasted fresh. We also saw new dough being spun in the back. Coffee was not great. Definitely a good stop for inexpensive quality donuts. read more

This is the first time we've gone to this location and we walked in just before closing time, there was just enough donuts left in the case to get a dozen. The proprietor was pleasant enough and price was reasonable; the donuts tasted great even the day after. My mom said their Bavarian Cream donut had the best filling in town; it was creamy and not overly sweet. I got a toasted coconut coated donut; ordinarily, I'm not a fan of coconut but that donut was flavorful that I consumed every morsel happily. My favorite donuts in town! Don't sleep on this little gem of Reno. They have a pretty wide variety of donuts. Not one of those fancy shops with cereal and cookies atop of a basic donut. Here you will find maple bars, old fashioneds, Apple fritters, crullers, jelly filled, Bavarian crème... you name it. Come early as they run out fast. This location was getting a lot of bad reviews. I stopped in around 1130am, during a weekday, and there was still some donuts left. An older Asian lady was working. She was really nice. Even threw in a few complimentary donut holes. I ordered 2 donuts, a blueberry filled and a maple bar. Now, these weren't the best donuts in the world. But they definitely weren't the worst, either. The hubby's coworker brought donuts in from here, and he really liked them. He kept saying that I would too. So it was nice that they have a drive thru... Even though I had a really good steak breakfast, I thought this was going to be a nice finishing touch! Hmmm I ordered a chocolate and maple bar.. was thinking the real test of a donut shop is how well they can do a glazed... (good thing I didn't add on a glazed)! The best glazed donuts are in San Jose, called Ben's... It's a simple donut shop and the lines are super long. My ex-sister-in-law would always get me a dozen for the holidays! Oh where do I start. First time at this location and I was a little weary after reading the reviews, but I was craving a donut and this was the closest place around. The donuts tasted like cardboard. There was a little selection as well. The place was dark and not very inviting. The prices were a little crazy for donuts. $12.49 for a dozen... which it's like $1.10 if you buy them individually. They didn't offer a half dozen either. The lady was not the best at customer service. There was not much to brag about with this place. I bought three donuts and I took a bite of each of them and threw them away. You could buy a 10x better dozen of donuts at Walmart for $3.98 and they taste extremely better. I will never be back to this place. They also charge you an extra .50 cents to use your debit/credit card there. Buyer beware because this place is not worth it. From the poor customer service, to the small selection, to the taste of these donuts I don't know how they are still open. Honestly the taste would rank in the bottom two I've ever had. That is saying a lot for a big guy that likes his donuts and has tried them all over the country. read more

I hate to say this but the donuts were the most disgusting donuts I ever had in my life. I would give it no stars,the donuts are very small compared to your regular donuts but that's not the real problem. The donuts taste like rancid oil & have a very strong oil odor,i don't know if they keep reusing the same oil or if it's just cheap. I honestly regret wasting my money at this place. I had to trash them. I hope the owners look at the reviews and take in consideration what the customers are experiencing & fix the problem. read more

Sorry to hear that others did not have the same great experience as we did. This is only the second time that we have been here. We were traveling from Denver back to the Bay Area when we stopped for gas. It was quite early(7:40AM) and the shelves were almost empty. The kind lady behind the counter explained that she opens at 2AM!! The donuts were light and fluffy...not oil laden as I have had from the major chains. In fact, we stopped eating donuts altogether, but decided to try this shop out...and very happy that we stopped. The best is that it reminded us of the old donut shops of the 80's; however, this shop did not smell of the oil used to fry the donuts...and the whole place was immaculate!! Please try this place out as it would be ashame to lose such a great mom-and-pop place!! read more

Been going to this store for ever. Just like the old Winchell's Donuts that this business is a direct descendant of. I prefer plain cake donuts (sinkers) with my coffee but you had better get here early or selection will run low. This winter it will be necessary for two runs of donuts to be made at least to fulfill the commercial demand. Probably one of the worst donut places in town. 2 reasons for this and they are both validated by some other reviews. Selection: Minimal at 8am. Completely out of certain popular donuts and once those are gone there is no restocking. Pricing is high also for this establishment. Quality of product: Very low. I've had better gas station donuts. Also the look of these donuts are very sloppy. The maple bars are not made with much presentation in mind. Icing just pasted on there half way on the donut. There are much better options in town and won't be back here. read more

Classic old school donut shop. The donuts were fresh and delicious. Traditional flavors that are timeless. No need for any atomic blueberries here or mango fillings. If you would like an classic glazed or buttermilk donut with taste not flashy presentation this is your place. The service was friendly and fast. Ok here's the deal, as with all of the other Jelly Donut locations, if you get there mid morning or later there is a good chance you won't find anything. We've gotten spoiled by the Doughboys and Donut Bistros of the area that constantly keep their stock coming throughout the day. Jelly Donut is a lot like the ones my grandpa took me to in the 80s in that it's an EARLY morning operation. With this being said its considerably cheaper than going to one of the nouveau donut spots and has a distinct difference in style when it comes to things like apple fritters. So I took a star away simply because the stock is so volatile, but to give it 1 star like the other recent review is just childish. The lady running this location is always nice to my daughter and tosses in an extra treat with our drive thru orders. If you're up early, give them a try. read more

My opinion is that their donuts are far better than the vast majority of other donut shops in the Reno/Sparks area. I've been buying donuts from them for over 25 years, even back when their business was up the street many years ago at their old location. They're the best, actually. Their donuts are large and of the highest quality. You many need to call ahead if you need a large order, so they can get them ready for you. Unlike other places, you're dealing directly with the very nice owners, not a part time employee. read more

The Asian lady there was super rude, rushed me through my selection despite noone being in the store. The apple fritter and several other donuts tasted like they have been soaked in old grease that has not been cleaned out. My new favorite donut place. The donuts are melt in your mouth delicious! I had a cake donut with icing and chocolate sprinkles - it took me back to the best donuts of my childhood. The buttermilk bar was fresh, delicious flavor and the icing perfect. Crunchy on the outside, not greasy, perfect. The old fashioned glazed was everything i had hoped for. The lady at the counter said it's an independent business and she's been running it for years. It's clean, simple, well done. I've been so sick of over hype of Dunkin Donuts and hope everyone goes here instead to see what a real delicious donut should be. I'll send everyone I knows here - support your locals and be glad you did! I went back today to have a donut and at 9am, found a decent variety of donuts available. To all those who were panning them for not having enough donuts, think of these of wonderful gems of deliciousness that are not mass produced and carefully prepared by an expert donut maker. Best fresh glazed donut I've ever had. I've tried donuts from dozens of bakeries and donut shops in about 8 states from California to Florida. This is the best place to get doughnuts in town. I always grab a dozen for me and my family and by the end of the day they are all gone. I love how these doughnuts melt in your mouth and now just writing about them my mouth is watering. I don't have a favorite here because they are all so good and I can't pick a favorite. The asian lady that works there is also very nice and every once in a while she throws in a free donut.
