They can't all be winners. But it takes a special effort to get one star. First of all, there is absolutely no customer service. I felt like I was in the Wizard of Oz. Greeted from behind a curtain in the kitchen. No acknowledgment no hello no thanks for coming. And the food? Overpriced an extremely meh. While I was waiting another customer came in, also greeted by the guy in the kitchen behind a curtain who said hang on I'm cooking. That Customer ended up leaving. I should've too. If you're gonna charge that much for food it better be on point. It wasn't. Not even worth the review. I hate to disparage any business, but this was really bad. Unique and satisfying donuts along with some fun and tasty novelty treats, like a donut-covered corn dog and fresh-fruit-topped coconut treat (my favorite). It's a tight little shop without a lot of seating inside, so getting your mochinuts to go might be ideal. There are TVs, but when we were in there there wasn't anything on. The ordering kiosks are pretty convenient, and the food prep is pretty efficient. Seems like everything is made on the spot, so there's a little wait, but it's not too bad. It can be a little confusing if you're not clear on whether to order at the counter or at a kiosk, but they can accommodate you either way. Every time we've gone we've found the team working there to be very friendly. Haven't been here in a while, and that first visit was a little rough since they were just opening. This visit was a huge improvement. Warmly welcomed on entering, and ordering at the kiosk was straightforward and quick (although I'm not sure what the $1 Las Vegas charge is for). Everything inside was bright and clean, and waiting was comfortable. I was even offered a sample of the mango coconut jelly, and was so impressed, I went back and ordered one. I've had a couple different kinds of mochi doughnuts, and liked how they're slightly chewy, and not overly sweet, so was very happy to find them offered here in Reno! I have to say Mochinut's mango sticky rice donut is hands-down my favorite. It's a mango-glazed mochi donut with a generous scoop of sticky rice with black sesame seeds in the middle. Great blend of textures, sweet and slightly savory...will definitely order this again. I thought the ube donut by comparison was a little too sweet. I first tried to check out Mochinut a couple months after their grand opening in early 2025, and it did not go well. I waited over an hour and never even made it inside before leaving without any food. At the time, there was also a lot of frustration in the community, myself included, around the lack of transparency about their closure related to a failed health inspection. Because of that, I hadn't gone back. Over a year later though, I decided to give them another try, and I'm glad I did. This visit was a completely different experience. I walked in with no line, ordered at the self-service kiosk, and had my full order in about 6 minutes. I tried the original half and half mochidog, strawberry, tiramisu coffee, and strawberry cheesecake mochinut donuts, plus a milk tea and cherry berry drink with boba. The drinks didn't come in a can like I've seen before, which was a little disappointing, but the boba was soft and well-cooked. The mochidog was fresh and crispy with a satisfying cheese pull. One of the donuts was warm and freshly made with that perfect gooey mochi texture, while the others didn't seem quite as fresh. The tiramisu coffee donut didn't fully match the photo on the kiosk, but the flavor was still solid. Overall, this visit definitely redeemed them for me. It was a huge improvement from my first experience, and I'd come back again. I'm especially looking forward to checking out their new location at Shayden Summit when it opens. read more

Stopped by on a Friday after a day of tubing and looking for a snack. There were a handful of customers ahead of us. Everything had to be ordered via the kiosk. The kid noticed that the prices on the kiosk were $1 more than what's on the menu sign. The staff looked really busy so I decided to order first and ask later. We chose the 6-pack mochi donuts (can't remember their names do these are approximate)--original, matcha, fruity sprinkles, tiramisu, churro chocolate, and mango sticky rice. We also got two original Korean corn dogs, three boba milk teas (brown sugar, matcha brown sugar, and Thai tea), and a mango coconut jelly. Items were ready in a reasonable time; we didn't wait very long. (But we also sat at a table). The mochinuts were hot and fresh, crispy and chewy. The churro was really good! I also liked the mango sticky rice; mango inside the donut, and the sticky rice was not overcooked. The tiramisu ended up being biscoff I think. The matcha and the original were ok too. The brown sugar milk teas were really sweet at first sip, but after mixing it was acceptable. The boba was nicely chewy but they were plain tapioca balls. The corn dog was quite good too. The coconut jelly with fresh mango was a good portion. I had waffles between it and mango pomelo sago, which I'll try next time I come across another Mochinut. The cafe was bright and clean. There were some tables for customers. I think they were playing Kpop in the background? But the staff were speaking mandarin, so I asked abt the prices when we collected our order and was told the menu sign is their old price. Wanted to give this place another try since it had been a while since they opened. When we came in it was pretty empty, only one other person there. For some reason I really dislike how everything is order on your own. Honestly it's probably because the kiosks are always dirty and sticky. It also rubs me the wrong way that the employees are just standing there watching me place my order while (seemingly) not really doing anything and then at then end of the transaction it asks for a tip. We ordered 3 mochi donuts: original, fruity pebbles, and pistachio. It took a while to come out but thats how you know they're fresh. They tasted much better than when they first opened. They came out crispier and warmer. My favorite was the original. I wasn't a huge fan of the other two, especially pistachio. read more

So the first thing, as some of the other reviews said, ordering is a total pain, not only can you "only" order the jelly from a separate kiosk, but even the main kiosk does not have all of the options that are on the menu. I did end up ordering a donut for my daughter, a boba and then after submitting my order I went to the other kiosk and ordered a coconut jelly. Well I got the mochinut and the boba within 5 minutes, but the donut was absolutely not cooked all the way. The boba was pretty great, but boba is syrup and milk, of course it's great. So the next couple things cannot be overlooked. So I set the donut and the boba on the little sauce counter to get my Yelp Photo. That's when the dates on the bottles food safety labels caught my eye. I was in on the 18th, at probably around 6pm. 2 of them had expired the 17th, and the other had expired the 15th. This could be an overnight of labeling, but it's still not really acceptable to put out like that. The next one is the coconut jelly. I waited for 15 minutes and still did not get handed one from the case right in front of me. I finally got the attention of the person working register and bringing up orders, and told her. She said they had no order. She then asked if I ordered from the kiosk and when I said yes, she said "oh don't do that, it doesn't work a lot." I then had to find my receipt in my email to show I ordered it. There isn't much point in having it then. So you have to order boba and donuts from the kiosk, and then coconut jelly and anything not on the kiosk verbal. It's all very confusing. read more

Honestly I left a 5 star review to get a free donut, but I had to come back and change it because it really didn't feel authentic- It feels like bare minimum with toppings, service, & ambiance. The donuts felt just like funnel cake from a carnival. They are literally using like funnel cake and funnel cake toppings and calling it mochi doughnuts. We decided to visit Mochinut after their grand opening to avoid the long lines, but there was still quite a wait because they only have one tablet to order food. The staff do not take any orders and they have two other tablets that limits you to ordering jelly only. I feel like there is a better way to organize this so it is more efficient. The space is very small and the interior decor is very simple. I feel like they can do a lot more to make it look nicer. We ordered the following: - Original Half and Half Corndog: does not look that good, but the it's one of the better Korean corndogs in town. It actually gives a cheese pulls and was better than I expected. 4/5 - Potato Mozzarella Corndog: there is barely any potato on the outside of this Corndog. For the price, I expected it to look like what is advertised. It was still good though. 4/5 - 3 piece donuts: love the chewiness of their donuts. Definitely is a must try at Mochinut. 5/5 - Matcha boba: the boba is hard on the center and too soft on the outside. It seems like they cooked at a very high temperature and not long enough for the inside to cook. The matcha flavor of the milk tea was average. 2/5 After ordering, the food is made fairly quickly. However, the location of their ketchup and sauces table are at the corner of the entrance where people are lining up at. It is not convenient to get your corndogs and ask people in line to move so you get the sauces. I recommend moving the sauces table to where you pick up your order. Other Mochinut locations have an area at pick up to add sauces. The other places ask if you want any sauces and do it for you as well, but they did not here. They must be very overwhelmed with the amount of customers, so it's totally understandable to have a wait and the quality is lowered because of that. This place has been getting a lot of buzz both good and bad. When my coworker and I were in the area, we thought to pop our heads in and check it out. Initially the menu appeared plain and there were not any donut samples in sight. So we went a few stops down for ice cream but later u-turned back after the long line. We realized there was a kiosk and then the magic of choices happened. I just tagged along and was lucky enough to sample the Churro, nutella, and chocolate. The winner for for us was the nutella one. This is my 2nd time trying the Mochinut, 1st try im with my friend and its snowing so we thought it be easier to get mochi donut but when we got there there's still a line and we still waited for an hour to get our order the place was quite small and people are everywhere we even didn't know where the line is when we came inside the store. My sister and I went in on a Wednesday night and were able to take our order on a kiosk right away. There were three kiosks but only one worked with being able to order donuts, corn dogs, boba, etc. One of the other two was just to order coconut jelly and the last one was broken. All flavors of the mochi donuts were available when we ordered. We got our donuts in a timely manner (probably waited about 10 min). The space is small and their display case was filled with coconut jellies and pitchers of their milk teas. Their menu is displayed on big screens in the front of the store - very easy to see what's on their menu in terms of their milk teas and corn dog flavors. The kiosks do not give you an option for adjusted sweetness level and ice level for their boba drinks. I wished there was a display somewhere of what flavors they currently have for the mochi donuts. We didn't know the flavors until we got up to the kiosk. As for the food, my family and I enjoyed a majority of the donuts. Our favorites were the fruity pebbles, strawberry matcha, and cookies & cream. As ube enthusiasts, we were pretty disappointed in the ube donut - it didn't taste like ube. My fiancee and I were super excited when we heard reno was finally getting a Mochinut.. we've been to the one in Vacaville by the outlets and We were hooked after trying them.. Finally went to try them.. the place was clean but the first thing we noticed was how small the place was.. they had 2 small tables that could fit 2 people at each.. then we noticed the display/pastry case. They had a few parfait/yogurts in the case and that's it.. no display of the flavors they had for the mochinuts.. in other stores they have it displayed like a donut store..all on the shelves and you get to see what they look like and flavors.. They had a couple kiosks to order from. The guy working there said hi and that was it.. he wasn't rude but didn't ask if we needed help on how to order.didnt ask if we had been there before and what to do..we only knew what to do because we've been to other ones before.. We ordered 4 mocinuts. They weren't all that great.. not much flavor and the batter wasn't all the mochi like..not like the other stores.almost like a traditional cake donut.. We used to order from a local made at home business because no other place here sold them before this location came..it was a married couple and you would order online and go pick up from their home.. Theirs were heaven.. it was baked just right and not dry on the outside and the inside was the nice chewy mochi chew. This is my second time visiting mochinut but my first back since starting to consistently review on yelp. I would say that the boba is one of the better bobas I have had around town. Very yummy and has super cute packaging. My first time going we tried the fruity pebbles donut and unfortunately it was very underwhelming. Possibly a bad batch or maybe it wasn't the right flavor for us but for the price I would not try another one. Overall I would say that I would go back for the boba. The music plays a bit too loud and the playlist is not always audience appropriate. Aside from my experience I took a look at their social media presence and I found some very interesting posts made by the mochinut Instagram page addressing possible allegations of inappropriate comments made by the owners then selves and posts addressing why they were temporarily shut down. Upon further investigation local news outlets reported they had been shut down due to health code violations. The Instagram post denied the accusations initially then took down that post and addressed the violations. Due to the allegations and the lack of transparency I cannot personally return to this location. Which is a huge disappointment because the boba is pretty tasty! read more

People complain about the wait times, yet show up when they see a long line out the door--that is precisely when you should anticipate a long wait. If you want to order at the counter and have your food brought out at a reasonable time, come when there is no line! They also text you when your order is ready, so you do not have to stay there and wait the whole time--go to one of the many stores in this shopping complex to pass the time. Another issue people mention is then being out of some of their products. What else do you expect when a brand new business is slammed literally every day from open to close? Give them a break as they adjust to opening this business and figure out how to meet the demands of our sometimes impatient community. I came by on a Monday around 11:45am, 15 mins prior to their opening. They've been open for a couple of weeks now and still have a line--good for them! Signs of a business that is appreciated and needed around here. There were about 10 people in front of me and even more behind me. I waited the 15 mins for them to open, then I waited about another 10 mins before making it inside. There are a few tables inside but otherwise it's pretty small. You order at the counter on a self-service tablet. Despite not needing anyone staffed to take the orders, one of the workers still came out and talked to me and asked if I had any questions. I really appreciated that he did that despite how busy they were! He gave me the low down on the different corn dogs since I'm unfamiliar with those. He apologized for being out of some items and said it has been really hard to keep up with the high demand, even with going to Costco twice a day for supplies. They were out of all the bubble tea options because ingredients are getting shipped in currently and arrive later today. They were out of the matcha donut and some of the corn dogs as well. However, they still had several flavors of each to choose from! I ended up waiting about 20-30 mins after I ordered, that was the wait time as the 10th customer of the day. I went with the traditional beef corn dog and a 3 pack of mochi donuts--classic, raspberry funnel, and churro. The corn dogs come with beef or cheese filling. There are lots of options for what to get on the outside like traditional, potato, hot Cheetos, ramen, and Takis. I'm glad I stuck with the original, it was good! The dough was more chewy than a regular corn dog and had a flaky outer covering. The donuts were really good too! I enjoyed the fun flavors and how easy they are to eat with the bubble design. The outside is crisp and the inside is soft yet still chewy. Donuts were $3.99 each, or you can get a box for a cheaper total price; I went with a box of 3 for $10. I can see how some people have extremely long wait times because of things getting backed up. Even as the 10th person in line today, the wait was long because everyone is ordering large amounts of donuts and corn dogs. Most people ahead of me got multiple boxes of donuts and 3+ corn dogs. Not only are they serving an endless line of people, but those people all order more to make up for the time spent waiting--which just makes the wait for others even longer. I think this is to be expected and does not reflect anything bad on the business or their model. Went today of course the lines were long but it didn't take to much time to get the food afterwards. I ordered a hot Cheeto mozzarella corn dog and a potato corn dog 3 pc donut and a Thai tea boba. My Thai tea tasted very watered down and for the price of it I was very very disappointed! the hot Cheeto corn dog was soggy wasn't crispy at all and yes I ate it right away!!!!! The potato one was a little more but still a bit on the soggy side sadly!!! Used to going to the ones in California and they are nice and crispy however the three stars is for the donuts they are yummy!!!' We finally have a Mochinut here in Reno! My sister introduced us to the location in Roseville, CA in 2023 and we've been hooked ever since! So when they announced they were going to have a location in Reno, I promised myself I would make it to the grand opening. Since I'm home now and tried the food I purchased, I wanted to get down to the nitty gritty. I understand this is the grand opening and you should never really judge a business on opening day, but one personal issue I had ended up cascading to other issues. On opening, they only offered 7 different flavors of mochinut. I'm glad I was able to get most of of my favorites and I'm sure first timers will be satisfied with the selection, but I was underwhelmed. I was underwhelmed with a lot of things. My Korean corn dog was very small compared to other corn dogs I've had at the other location. Don't know if there was an issue with the corn dogs or not, but at least it was still satisfying. Also, the corn dogs come with dipping sauces and they have a handful of different flavors. The grand opening didn't have the sauces other than the usual ketchup and mustard. I was told the sauces would come later. When you get to the register, there was another screen facing you and I thought it was to see the menu and such, but it was another kiosk to order food. I thought that was really weird. If you're going to order food, talk to the register to ring you up and have that computer be somewhere else so another person can order ahead. I feel like it's taking up resources and space that could be better utilized. They have other kiosks that you can order from, but weren't operational for the grand opening. And speaking of menus, they have two TVs up on the wall but neither of them showed what flavor mochinut can be ordered. As of today, they just have the types of boba drinks (in which they didn't have their fruit drinks available,) and the combinations of corn dogs (they didn't have their plain mozzarella available.) You have to rely on the register to call out the different flavors. When I finished ordering and was about to pay, their system crashed and so they had to call somebody to restart their system. Even though I was order number 6, it took quite a long time to get my order. It was a dozen mochinut and 2 corn dogs. I mentioned earlier that my corn dog was smaller than usual, but it was the wrong style! My older daughter asked for a Spicy half and half (hot Cheetos with half beef and half cheese) and so I ordered two. When I got home and starting eating mine, I realized my corn dog was all beef! Even though I was okay with having all beef, it was also a good thing I picked the right box because the other corn dog was the half and half. My daughter would've eaten the all beef with no problem as well if she ended up getting my box, but just the fact it was the wrong item didn't sit well with me. The three stars that I'm giving it right now has nothing to do with the food itself other than the size of my corn dog (the mochinut is excellent, as expected,) but the execution of things. This brand isn't their first rodeo so I can't give them a free pass. The process to order was tedious since they only have one employee taking orders. I hope people pack their patients today because it's going to be a long day for both sides of the fence. It doesn't help that the dining room only has two tables and a table for one that's also holding one kiosk. Sadly, until they get up to par on their expected offerings, I won't be visiting much. read more

I always seek out Mochinut when I'm out of state traveling, so to say I was excited for Reno to finally get one is an understatement. And clearly I was not the only one-- since their opening week averaged 4 hour wait times. Because of this I decided to wait until the hype died down a bit. And then when I felt it was a good time to go, they had to close for a failed health inspection. Nonetheless, I finally got the chance to try it a day after their reopening. My first impression of the establishment was that it is tiny. They had two seating tables and 3 kiosks upon entry-- although, only one was programmed to order everything off the menu. The other 2 solely were for coconut jelly which was rather off putting. On top of that, the main kiosk failed to have buttons for many items offered; such as ube brown sugar milk tea, milk tea sweetness, and finishing garnishes. For example, I love getting the original kdog with all mozzarella and sprinkled with sugar. And when I attempted to notify an employee, he just responded with it's his second day. I understand being new and not knowing how to accommodate for certain things, so I just ordered something else. Additionally, their display case only had coconut jelly bowls and batch made milk teas in pitchers. Personally, I disliked that aspect. One reason being that other Mochinut establishments have their donuts on display so you know exactly what's in stock. Other than being on the kiosk, there was no signage of flavors available for customers in line or otherwise. Another reason I found the display case distasteful, was that customers could see that the teas are not made fresh and could not be adjusted. In total, my partner and I ordered: -original milk tea with boba -ube brown sugar milk tea with boba -ramen corn dog -flaming hot Cheetos mozzarella dog -ube, teddy choco, and strawberry matcha donuts We came around 3:20 and did not receive our order until nearly 4pm. On top of that, the employee made my drink right after we ordered, but placed it inside the display case and I couldn't receive it until our order was completed-- so I sat at the table just staring at my drink for about a half hour. When we finally received our order, my mozzarella dog was completely flattened and soggy. It could not hold its shape and just slid off the stick. The ramen dog was not completely coated, hard, and burnt in some places. The boba was unsweetened and resembled the texture of the five-minute boba packs you can purchase. It's been 2 weeks since the grand opening, the line was not as long. We waited in line for about a 40 minute wait. Once we got inside, you order from a kiosk, they had about 6 flavors of mochi donuts available which was a bit disappointing. Once we placed our order it took them 40 minutes to get us our 3 mochi donuts. I don't think for the wait, the price, and these donuts that it was worth it. I think in a few months when the hype dies down I might try again, but $3.99 for a single donut is pricey. I've attached some photos of our donuts and of their menu with prices. read more

Friday afternoon at 2 PM, about a 10-15 min wait! Not as many flavor options as we hoped but still a good selection. Inside of store is small but there are some seating options available. We tried the raspberry funnel, strawberry matcha, dark chocolate teddy bear. Mochi donuts have a nice spongy texture you don't find in a regular donut. Rather than a soft pillowy feel, these donuts kind of bounce back and have a more chewy bite. Raspberry funnel is just powdered sugar with raspberry syrup drizzled over. Matcha strawberry is white chocolate matcha with a strawberry pocky, and dark chocolate teddy bear was a dark chocolate with two teddy graham crackers. read more

ordered donuts and some food and clearly told the employee that we don't eat non-veg and asked for vegetarian options. Even after clearly mentioning our dietary restriction, one of the items we were given contained beef sausage. When we pointed this out and asked about this, the communication became confusing. We were told different things about which item had meat and which didn't. At one point, we assumed both would be made with cheese, but later we were told only one was. Because of the unclear communication, we didn't feel comfortable trusting the food and ended up throwing the food. I then spoke to the manager and explained the situation, including that the employee had made a mistake despite us clearly stating we are vegetarian. He mentioned that, as a courtesy, he would give us another item, but he was not actively listening what i was saying. The main issue for us is about the clear communication and taking dietary restrictions seriously. Better clarity and handling in situations like this would really help. read more

Honestly can't get enough of this place. Every chance I get i go for the best thing, the coconut jelly! I'm hooked. Its so delicious and not overly sweet. Its just perfect. The workers are friendly and I'm sure the owner was there too. Super friendly. On one occasion before I tasted heaven (coconut jelly) this sweet women offered me a sample. Haven't looked back ever since. You can get it plain, how I like it, or topped with fruit. My kids love their Korean style Korn dogs and the mochinut donuts. If you haven't checked them out do it.
