I've been here a couple times years ago and decided to stop by on my way to do some shopping. It was okay. The building is very nice, good amount of space and the decorations are cute. The server was nice. But the food was very mediocre. The waffles aren't cooked crispy at all, but even if they did have more crisp to them, they lacked flavor. Glad we got toppings this time. Came here on a random Saturday for brunch around 11 AM and it is located towards the back of a strip mall off the main road. So it's not the easiest to find unless you're specifically looking for and or purposefully reading the signs. Since it is in a short mall, parking was very amble so that was great. When we got in, there was a little to no weight, which was also very pleasant. The place is themed with all music and rock 'n' roll art and really bright bold colors. The service was OK, but she actually forgot our coffees and I had to ask a second time and when I asked the second time she only brought over one coffee instead of the original two we ordered We ordered chicken and waffles and quite frankly she told us that these were the absolute best chicken tenders and no sauce was needed, even though it did come with sauce, and I did order the hot honey sauce and the garlic Parmesan sauce. The tenders are good because the batter is seasoned however, I expected either more tenders or perhaps a smaller plate because if you look at the picture, it's more plate than it is meat The same could be said for the country fried steak. It was such a small piece for such a big plate. It didn't really make a lot of sense. Our waitress also told us that this place had the absolute best tater tots ever so we wouldn't put the tater tots and to be quite blunt these tater tots taste no different than any other restaurant This whole area of Northwest Indiana is so saturated with breakfast brunch spots that I have to say that the food has got to elevate itself to really stand out and also to stay relevant with all the competition. read more

After church pancakes are my favorite! And I selected Jelly Pancake House as my choice of yum this morning! I had seen this breakfast spot from the highway a million times, so today I decided to go in and enjoy. Walking through the doors brought me JOY! The color scheme just captured me. Sunflower Yellow I will call it. It was saying "Hello, how can I hug you..?" lol. Check out my images, and you will see how fun this place is decorated. From what I hear, the Bloody Mary's and the Mimosas are the BEEZ KNEEZ!!!!!!! When I walked in, the first thing that I saw was the margarita machines!!!!!! Wowzers!!!!!! BRUNCH ME PLEASE! Oh! And the breakfast drink prices are very reasonable *wink, wink*. A little background of this place: Located in Dyer Indiana. I was told that a few months back, the restaurant was purchased by an individual that owns another restaurant by the name of Grady's in Homewood, IL. I thought that was pretty cool. The place was already established, however once purchased, the decor inside was kept. The inside of this intimate space SCREAMS MUSIC LOVER!!!!!! My eyes were happy to be there, and soon my tummy would be as well. Selections: I ordered coffee. Hot and yummy. Simple, yet satisfying. I ordered the veggies skilllet with pancakes(they come with the skillet). My company ordered a dish(I won't slaughter the spelling here, but it is named ON my images). It came with grits. An orange juice was ordered as well. The order came out fast,and it was hot. The first forkful was rushed and I DID burn the inside of my mouth (all my fault) Lol. I was HANGRY. The entree was fresh. Every bite was a fresh vegetable kiss, and I was pleased. I like to keep my breakfast straight to the point, and I was glad of my selection and the yum yum it rendered. The other dish ordered was gobbled up as well. It was reported that the grits were so creamy! I smiled. The conversation of the grits, carried far beyond the table and into the car. So, I am sure it's safe to say, the grits are a huge hit at Jelly! Lol Food quality definitely a solid 10 out of 10 if I had to rate it. The manager joined us at our table as I talked about my experience with this nice establishment. I asked about a beverage I saw at another table. I assumed it was a margarita-it was not. They have infused herbal teas. What I mean by infused (it does not mean cannabis at all!). Fyi He brought over to the table an example of the tea infuser. I was shocked! Never had I seen one so cool (I have one at home), but i had never seen one like theirs. Their tea selections is large, and I will definitely try a tea upon returning. There is such a variety of things to eat and drink at Jelly, there is no way one could come just once. You have to dine in several times to get the full experience of all it's splendor and yummy. Stopped here for a late breakfast and noted the restaurant was almost empty, so we were seated quickly. I ordered the Eggs Benedict, but no hash browns and opted for fresh fruit--at $2.29 extra. Hubby ordered the Huevos Rancheros at $14.99 and also added fruit and a coffee at $3.50. Hubby's skillet didn't look bad, but because I didn't want hash browns got a huge plate with two of the smallest poached eggs benedict I've ever seen. It tasted okay--but realized it would not be enough. Hubby gave me half his skillet, which, predictably, had a little bite to it. The restaurant didn't have loud music, but neither was it a happy vibe, standard service but no offer for additional water. I felt the prices were high for both the taste and the portion. Was disappointed that they don't offer any nondairy milk alternatives as we came here specifically because they have espresso drinks and then couldn't have any. I got the avocado toast with a side of grits. The toast was good but the grits were watery and bland - like instant grits mixed with water. My husband got a panini and enjoyed it. Quirky little breakfast place in a strip mall. Decor was music themed with tables, booths and small bar area. They had a full bar and the mimosas we had were top notch. My friend had the steak burrito which she loved. It came with shredded hash browns. I had the crunchy French toast and sausage. Good seasoned sausage. The crunch could have been more on the French toast but it was still good. Service was quick and the waitress friendly. Bathroom was clean as well as the dining area. I recently made a return trip here for brunch as I remember having a great meal the first time I came. Walking in, I got seated right away (and noticed that every other table was blocked...due to social distancing) and paroused the menu. Before the waitress came to take my order, I looked around and noticed that there were some neat paintings all over the place.....and even a set of drums above the entryway. A really neat atmosphere....like a glorified coffee house Anyway, I decided to order a build your own omelette.....I had a ham. mushroom, and feta cheese omelette with sliced tomatoes (instead of potatoes) and pancakes....with a S'Mores topping along with coffee. Sometime later, the meal arrived. The eggs were very tasty along with the sliced tomatoes. But the pancakes were excellent with the S'Mores topping. I didn't need any extra syrup with the marshmallow, chocolate, and graham cracker topping with those pancakes! All in all a great meal in a cool place. First time back after they reopened. My husband and granddaughter had the eggs Benedict. The only complaint was that the hollandaise sauce was nothing like it used to be. It was way too thick and just sat on top of the egg, a bit salty too. Hollandaise sauce should be smooth and fluid. I had eggs and corned beef hash. We also had a side of pancakes which were yummy. The hash was delicious. When we go back probably won't order the eggs Benedict. The sauce makes the dish and if the sauce is not good, kind of ruins the whole dish. read more

Went in and even though my hearing is blocked by allergies it was louder than LalaPalooza. Asked to turn it down as I couldn't even hear my partner's conversation. Turned it down maybe 1. Asked again to turn it down and the waiter said the manager won't do it again. Seriously? Who wants to be blasted at 10:30 a.m.? My partner ordered a chorizo omelet WITHOUT any peppers. Huge disappointment. Way overpriced and quality was hit and miss. Coffee was decent. Hash browns were reheated from frozen potatoe shreds, nothing brown about them. Scrambled eggs were good, ham decent. Our server was great, hostess didn't ask how everything was when we checked out. A guy in our party checked online before we went there and they listed early bird specials for breakfast for $6.99. When we arrived and received our menus, we asked about that and our server informed us that had been discontinued. Out total bill for 3 people was $47.83. This place always seems very crowded, I think it is how the space is laid out. I got a omelette with cheese but as you can see here in my photo the cheeses just popped on top and there is cheese underneath. So far this is the only place I've ever been that throws slices of cheese on top of their omelette. It looks much better when you do it in the inside of the omelette. Cheese stays creamier too. My husband had a mess of a dish that had pork belly, eggs and soggy tortillas and he didn't finish. Breakfast here is always just OK. It is nothing that stands out. After we left on our way out I saw that they have a machine to make juice. My husband was sad that he didn't get to try the orange juice. I've been wanting to visit this breakfast spot for quite sometime. I like that a liquor drink is offered with your breakfast as if you're having brunch. I decided to have a mimosa with a extra twist. It was really good. For breakfast, I ordered scrambled eggs, turkey sausage and potatoes. I began to eat my breakfast...was not pleased at all because I couldn't really get into it....my food was not hot (actually the only thing that was hot was my eggs). I asked the waitresses if the other items were pre-cooked because my food was not hot. She stated that everything was cooked to order....this was hard to believe. Was fried chicken with Frank's red hot sauce, gravy SUCKED, the scrambled eggs were runny and the biscuits were dry as hell. Each cup of coffee was $3. Grand total of meal was just shy of $40. We had breakfast - large portions ( they also offer lunch) As our server said - everything here is large! We had the hobo skillet and a Mexican style omelette, both with sides of pancakes. This is a really cool breakfast place! lots of seating available inside and out, but for some reason it is quite dark inside. The full bar threw me off a little too, but I think it adds a little bit of fun to the traditional brunch spot. Our food was good, and our service was unfortunately lacking. The server was very busy, though lack of tables, and she forgot many of the things that were supposed to be brought to our table. Their namesake, house made jelly, is amazing. I had the country fried steak with eggs over easy and country fried potatoes with pancakes on the side. The steak was very good. I don't know if it was made in house but I couldn't tell if it was previously frozen so that's a good thing. The gravy was very tasty as well and the eggs were done right. Potatoes were tasty but not very crispy. The pancakes were a let down, I tend to be very critical of pancakes when they are part of the name of the restaurant. I hold all pancakes up to the standard of cracker barrel pancakes and these were not even close in fact they were pretty below average. The waitress was very attentive and pleasant. I went here to meet with some friends from high school for brunch. I never expect too much from breakfast places because in my experience most are pretty similar. Jelly blew these expectations out of the water. My skillet was incredible. Next time I'm here, I definitely want to try the pancakes. I don't like this location as much as the Merrillville one. Fore some reason I feel that this one is a bit too crowded, it's probably just some of the table spacing but, it feels like close quarters in some areas. The food here is just as delicious as the other restaurant, same great pancakes, same fluffy eggs and unfortunately the same sausage patties - like I said in the review of their Merrillville loc. the patties tasted a wee bit too herby for me... you may like em though. I never said they were "BAD", just not for me. There IS an outdoor seating area which is cool in the summer, not much of a view out there though. It faces the parking lot and a pet store. The outdoor seating is also more spaced out too, nice place to hang out and have a family breakfast on a nice summer morning. SYOY read more

Jelly's is Oh so good. I think the prices were reasonable, the food was so good, customer service was good. Glad my friend who lives in Dyer recommended this joint. The red velvet French toast is superb, my friend shared one of her three slices with me. I, on the other hand, had the Creole Skillet. The mix of hot peppers gave it a really nice twist, with the fresh eggs on top. I highly recommended this spot. Then to top it off, Mon-Wed you get 1/2 priced craft mimosas with Fresh Squeezed OJ, really sweet, but hopefully more nutritious, lol. Boy that sure did make our morning GREAT! Little Belgian waffles. Just little fellas. Each come covered in a pile of dark chocolate, bacon, pecans or chicken... Okay, lose the chicken and double the pecan and I my friend, am in breakfast heaven. The kind of heaven where black coffee has wings and flutters about my plate singing an angelic chorus. The kind of heaven where you can put just a tiny drizzle of maple syrup on the bacon just to glorify it and make it waltz with the flavor of the dark chocolate. It's called the "waffle flight".
