My all time favorite ice cream place. Ooey gooey butter cake has a lifetime choke hold on me. The L'affogatos are life changing!

Perfect way to end a date night! The servers are sweet and always eager to give you unlimited samples. Highly recommend the Texas sheet cake if you're a chocolate fan, even though it's dairy free

Jeni's really produces a quality ice cream. The depth of flavor as well as creativity of the flavors really shine through. Fall flavors are abundant here - SWEET POTATO PRALINE - is a stand out. It's really a bite of sweet potato pie in ice cream form. The COFFEE ice cream is about the best I've ever tasted anywhere. You'll fall in love with all the flavors here as well as their colorful merchandise for purchase.

We absolutely LOVE Jeni's! We live in Memphis and sadly we do NOT have a Jeni's. Whenever we travel we always check to see if there is one on the way or nearby. This particular location was in the cute town of old Cahaba in Birmingham. It is a really nice area with plenty of dining options. We are at a local restaurant and then walked over to Jeni's. The interior is small, but super cute. You walk up to the counter to order and they offer free samples to try before you buy. The personnel is happy to explain the flavor combinations of each flavor. We LOVE that the ice cream is chock full of chunky ingredients that are very unique. My husbands favorite is the brown butter almond brickle. I LOVE the ooey gooey. Utter cake. This time I had one scoop of my favorite and one scoop of the seasonal lemon citrus pound cake which was yummy as well. I love that both of my flavors come with chunks of yummy cake. Jeni's is the ABSOLUTE best Ice cream!!! Highly recommend if you ever get a chance to try it!

Always love a good Jeni's trip! We went to this location over the downtown one and probably will continue doing so..! Mtn Brook village is just so lovely to hang out in & not to mention so so safe even in the late hours when this Jeni's is still open!! The ice cream was great per usual, we did notice some inconsistency in portion sizes for scoops between the two times we've been to this location - am hoping the smaller scoops are not here to stay!

Always delicious and great service. Favorites from tonight were double dough, lemon/blueberry parfait, and rainbow buttermilk yogurt. Lemon bar is dairy free which is nice but the texture is more icy. The waffle wedge is divine! Love that this location has indoor and outdoor seating available.

It's always a delicious treat, so we stopped by the Mountain Brook location. It's very easy to find in the shopping center, and we love the ambiance. If you are in the area, stop and try some of the all-natural favorites. Don't sleep on the dairy-free ice cream; it's delicious. The staff is always amazing and ready to service you with a smile.

We stopped by this Jeni's location on a Friday night and the line was LONG. Despite that, the two employees were, admirably, able to get through everyone in a very timely manner. The ice cream was amazing as always. Super cute decor inside! Ooey Gooey Butter Cake: 10/10 The best Jeni's flavor! Bastani Sonnati: 6/10 A very unique, seasonal flavor featuring saffron, rose, and pistachio. The ice cream itself was pretty good, but the pistachio left a bit of a strange aftertaste that really ruined it. Would not get this again. Parking: This strip mall has its own lot with ample parking. There are plenty of stores and great restaurants to try nearby

Biscuits with the Boss and Salted Peanut Butter with Chocolate Flecks

Back again after an awesome Yelp event. I signed up for emails and when I received an email about the Ted Lasso: Biscuits with the Boss, I had to try it! My friend and I checked in here first before we realized they needed to eat a meal. So we circled back after dinner and were welcomed to test out a few flavors. I knew what I wanted! I had no clue about the Ted Lasso show but the description of the ice cream with shortbread cookies in sweet cream, I felt this was a great combination and it was! My friend decided on the Salted Peanut Butter with Chocolate Flecks and stated it was good! It was a nice evening and we enjoyed the outdoor seating while eating our scoops.

Atmosphere: This newer Jeni's location in Mountain Brook is bright, spacious, and clean. There are a few tables inside to enjoy your ice cream in the shop! Service: The workers have always been friendly and happy to provide us with samples! Food: At this location, we've tried the Genmaicha & Marshmallows, Coffee with Cream & Sugar, Brambleberry Crisp, Strawberry Buttermilk, White Chocolate Peppermint, Boozy Eggnog, and Salty Caramel. Their ice cream was consistent with the other locations we've tried, and we especially liked the limited time Genmaicha & Marshmallows. It was a unique take on matcha/green tea ice cream, and we hope that they bring it back in the future! The Coffee with Cream & Sugar was not too sweet, and the Strawberry Buttermilk was one of our favorite summer flavors! Overall: Jeni's is a reliable choice for some fun and delicious ice cream flavors! We especially like this location and the flavors we tried.

This was my first introduction to Jeni's - and my goodness - I ended up going here a few days in a row during my business trip in Birmingham. The first night I stopped by, I was the only person in the shop and the attendant was thrilled it was my first visit and had me try ALL THE THINGS! Really! Even the 'Everything' bagel-inspired ice cream, which was a bit garlicky, but very, very interesting! I enjoyed the brambleberry, Texas Sheet Cake (vegan!), and gooey birthday cake. Can't remember the other flavors I had the next couple of nights - but all definitely fantastic. Cheerful service from fellow ice-cream fans was also a big plus! Really excited that there's one in San Diego I can try back home.

I love Jeni's ice cream, it's my new go to spot!! Pictured is my free birthday scoop, I got the buttercream birthday cake. SO GOOD! The staff is very patient and happy to offer samples for us indecisive customers. The shop is very clean and has a welcoming vibe, making it a great place to hangout with friends and family

Unique flavors, classic flavors, the smell of fresh waffle cones inside. Big Spoon does a ton of business, as they should. The location here in Avondale is great, but not super walkable from any really good restaurants. I would love to see them open another spot on 2nd Ave. I had the strawberry tres leches in a waffle cone and it was delicious. I appreciate the care and craft that went into making sure every bit down to the bottom of the cone had ice cream in it. 10/10.

The Sweet and the Absurd: A Birmingham Creamery's Baffling Economics…read moreTo step into Big Spoon Creamery in Birmingham is to subject oneself to a masterclass in both artisanal delight and bureaucratic absurdity. On my visits--a pilgrimage undertaken reliably every month and a half--the front-line staff have never been anything short of exemplary. They are the cheerful stewards of a deeply baffling system, executing their duties with a warmth that almost distracts you from the institutional quirks around them. I say "institutional" because the management themselves are entirely phantom. They are never seen on the floor. Perhaps this is a calculated evasion; if they were ever present, they would surely have to field a relentless, exasperated inquisition regarding the tragic and ongoing absence of their finest creation: the "Magic City." Why an ice cream parlor would willingly suppress its undisputed masterpiece remains an enduring mystery. Even if the economics of its ingredients demanded a premium surcharge, "Magic City" ought to be enshrined as an immovable staple on the menu. Instead, the menu is a restless, ever-shifting carousel. I concede that a relentless churn of novelty is a virtue to a certain type of customer, but the soul of a great neighborhood institution relies on the comforting reliability of a few anchor flavors. At Big Spoon, just as you develop an affection for a flavor, it vanishes into the ether. Then, we must examine the rewards program, an endeavor so poorly conceived it borders on the avant-garde. The mathematics are punishingly flat: one point per order, regardless of whether the patron spends a single dollar or one hundred. The rational response to such a broken incentive structure is, naturally, to weaponize the system. To extract any genuine value, the savvy customer is forced into a theatrical display of micro-transactions, paying for each scoop separately. It is a loophole that needlessly punishes the very staff who make the establishment shine, forcing them to run the register three or four times for a single family's dessert. Finally, there is the creamery's bizarre pricing taxonomy. A close study of the board reveals an accidental arbitrage opportunity: the customer is objectively better off purchasing two distinct pints of ice cream and two empty waffle cones to assemble on their own time, rather than engaging in the straightforward, intended transaction of ordering ice cream scooped directly into a cone. Whoever is pulling the levers behind the curtain at Big Spoon clearly fancies themselves a clever operator, disrupting the traditional ice cream parlor model with dynamic menus and gamified loyalty. But in their pursuit of perpetual novelty and labyrinthine economics, they have embodied the old proverb perfectly: they are entirely too clever by half.
