Dr. Jenkins listens to me and gives me options as to what are the meds. People say he's rude. No he isn't. He has a dry sense of humor. I have been going to him off and on for 35 years and have found him to be very sincere. His office staff is very efficient. Especially his nurse Gretchen who helped me over the phone. I got a called from the office of Dr. Jenkins Kevin , I'd asked if I can get a note to be excuse from work on the date of the procedure, well I was told ! they dont give a doctor note " I can get that after or the same morning. ? I'm going to be waking up from the Anesthesia, and they want me to ask for a doctor note on that day !!!!!! well my procedure is in the morning , so what they are pretty much telling me is that I have to run to work, take the note to my supervisor and run back to the office to get my procedure " because I can only get the note on the same day. Every place I have been, if you are having a procedure and you ask for a "excuse note to be off that day " you get it from the doctors office stating " THIS PATIENT WILL BE UNDER MY CARE ON THIS DAY AND RETURN TO WORK ON THIS DAY " " , well this place will not give you a doctor note prior the procedure . every doctors office will provide this note. i'm in shock that they dont do this for patients unless you ask on the day of!! which you are already stress out, worry and feeling anxious and they want you to worry about a excuse note for work. I feel that person that answered the phone didnt really care at all. I WILL ASK FOR MY NOTE BEFORE I GET THE ANESTHIA AND I HOPE THEY GIVE IT TO ME . this is not okay from a professional service office. ! I'd called back to get clarification and SUPER RUDE !! over the phone I had asked the same question and how rude to say " IS YOUR RESPONSABILITY TO GET THE DAY OFF OR WHATEVER YOU WISH TO DO ". Absolutely the WORST BEDSIDE MANNER KNOW TO MAN!! I was told he was rude but that's an understatement! I'm not petty but my mom has suffered for almost 2 months and has to wait for 1 more month before her colonoscopy. She has been given a months worth of antibiotics until then, to have her wait until he is back from vacation. Nobody should have a months worth of antibiotics. Just to wait for a colonoscopy cause he's going on vacation . He could have referred her to another dr or did it before he left. She has to finish the antibiotics then call everyday for a cancellation so she can maybe go in earlier than another month of waiting. I've never in 52 years seen my mom in such distress, can't drive, no appetite and this bad of colon issues. She's very sweet and doesn't cause conflict and is not aggressive she respects what all drs say and never has a doubt in their care for her. She's very timid. I hope my mom gets through this I really do, that should be enough to say about DR.Jenkins for now. read more

I wish I could give zero stars! I saw Dr Jenkins 2 weeks ago for hemorrhoids along with some troubling GI issues. Upon entering the room he declared he couldn't do anything for hemorrhoids, they just had to go away by themselves. He didn't even examine me and talked over me when I was telling him about the other issues, saying they'd all go away when the hemorrhoids did. Several days later after my issues had worsened I went back to my general practice PA who ordered a CT scan which showed numerous serious GI issues. Had Dr Jenkins listened to me and taking me seriously, I could have been well on the road to recovery now. Instead I had to cancel a long planned trip to NM to see my daughter and granddaughter and have to wait another week until I can get in to see a different GI. I've never been treated so unprofessionally by a Dr! read more

I had been going to Dr. Jenkins off and on for over 15 years. Since, I have IBS-D, I thought having a GP and Gastroenterologist would be the perfect combination for me. I can't say anything bad about his staff, but you may want to know why I will never go back to him. Here's why. Wait times to see him are ridiculously long. Most times were over two hours long sometimes three. Even when I made an appointment for 1 pm as he does most of his procedures, usually endoscopies and colonoscopies in the a.m., so he sees his patients only when he gets into his office, I've experienced long wait times. I've had three colonoscopy's as an outpatient by him. All were painful. I woke up each time midway through the procedure crying and in pain. The last one was the worst. I literally felt that I was experiencing a steel bar going into my colon. I cried, and tried to get off the table or gurney that I was on. I felt arms on me holding me down. I was further sedated until recovery. The next day after the procedure, I noticed that my left arm and shoulder areas had bruises on them. I wish I had taken pictures of my bruises. I thought maybe because I have a spastic colon that I'm sensitive to the procedure, but my husband told me he woke up during his colonoscopy by Dr. Jenkins, who has no colon problems, that I decided that was the final straw. Another reason was that he always talked negatively about his patients before entering the exam room. Maybe he doesn't realize his patients can hear him. It's unprofessional and demeaning. When he does finally see me, he spends more time talking to his student M.D.s then me. Lastly, I did a follow up visit after having gone to the Emergency Room years ago, for abdominal pain and bloody stools. S.A.C.H. did a great job. All he did was criticize about the staff who treated me at the E.R. In front of me. I felt it extremely unprofessional. You don't do that in front of your patient. I will never ever see him again. read more

I would give these doctor zero stars if I could! Treated my elderly mother very poorly at her appointment. He didn't even introduce himself when he walked into the exam room. He had a student there and his front desk staff, Lucy, was translating for my mother- he would speak over them and not allow them to get a word in. Not only does he treat his patients and staff horribly, but I believe he is a racism doctor. His front staff except Lucy, were just like him-rude and not welcoming. He doesn't deserve to be a doctor! I sat in an over crowded waiting room for an hour and 20 mins and wasn't anywhere close to being called to see DR Kevin Jenkins. I was very disappointed in this experience and everyone in the waiting room was getting frustrated as well . There wasn't any ac on to help the waiting patients. I am seeking a new DR and office. This will not work for me and I don't think anyone should wait this long to be seen. I use to see the best drs in Beverly Hills and even those busy offices never made patients wait for hour and half plus for an apt. Thumbs down on the way this office is run. read more

I was very disappointed and upset after my first and only appointment with Dr. Jenkins. First, he made no eye contact whatsoever, which made the whole experience awkward. Second, he made an unprofessional comment about me to the student shadowing him, while I was sitting in front of him. Just had my appointment with Kevin Jenkins. Never met a doctor who is more inappropriate/unprofessional as Kevin Jenkins. He had a student doctor in the room with me and I was not told that would be happening, however this was not my issue with the visit. My problem was that he thought it would be okay to joke about my current conditions and my family medical history. Please avoid this doctor at all cost. I am echoing all the reviews that others have written. I waited 2 hours to be seen (something that others complained about), staff is courteous (no complaints there), but like I have said I have never had a worst interaction with a doctor and he wasn't telling me anything I already didn't know. read more

If you are visiting a gastroenterologist, you are probably dealing with something unpleasant, so there is nothing I can write that can make it bright and sunny. I will say that the office staff is ridiculously nice and friendly, which made the office visit bearable. I made an afternoon appointment, but I had almost an hour wait until I actually met with the doctor. It's probably best to make an early morning appointment if you hate sitting in the waiting room like I do. read more

This is my PCP and I've seen him twice this year. I already decide not to go back. Here is why I am not going back: 1. Long wait. Even if I am on time for my appointment, I still have to wait more than a hour to see him. 2. Short time. Dr. Jenkins only sees you for less than 5 mins. Most of time You talked to his medical assistant about your condition, and the assistant summaries that to Dr. Jenkins. He came in and out less than 5 mins. 3. Bad attitude. Dr. Jenkins won't listen to you. I honestly don't think he cares about his patient. He doesn't spend time to examine his patient. I am sure that I won't come back to see him again. read more

STOP! If you are considering going to see Dr. Jenkins, read the reviews! I only wish I had before my colonoscopy. He said some inappropriate comments on my initial consult, but I wanted to just get the colonoscopy done by the end of the year and they had an opening. The day of my colonoscopy I asked to talk to the Anesthesiologist but was told it would only be 'twilight sleep', there was no anesthesiologist and the nurse would keep an eye on me if I needed more sedative. I felt like I was in a horror film. The pain was horrific, and I can remember screaming for them to stop but it just continued. In reading the surgery notes, it says there was no assistant.......was he in there alone? Where was the nurse? I had always heard you don't feel anything, but this wasn't the case. When I went for my follow-up appointment I asked why he didn't give me a heavier dose when he heard me screaming and he basically made me feel like it was my fault. He's condescending and dismissive when I questioned him. He doesn't deserve the 1 star, but if this makes anyone question your decision to go to him, it was worth the 1 star. read more

UPDATE:405 I am called into a room. She takes my weight and I get the privilege of tasting her sour armpit. She then pushes me to answer some very embarrassing questions. I told her, I would prefer speak to my doctor only. The she tries to introduce me to a student doctor and asks if I mind if she sits in on the APPOINTMENT. ........ DID YOU NOT HEAR ME???... Dr. Jenkins was Great at my first Colonoscopy.I had put it off for years. He was kind and yet he let me know i needed to finally have one, I have alot of ailments. My husbands appointment was at 4:00 and it's now after 6:00pm and he's not even in a room yet. My husband was bleeding internally from his stomach and lost about 40 percent of his blood about two weeks ago. Took the doctor a day and a half to even see my husband in the ICU to try to find the problem. His solution before that was to just pump my husband full of more blood until he could find the time to see him. I don't know about you but it seems odd to me to wait so long to see a patient who is losing that much blood. Apparently he has as much sense of urgency in his private practice as he has when seeing emergency patients in the hospital. Stop practicing medicine if you care so little about your patients or have reached an age where you can no longer keep up. It is irresponsible and dangerous to your patients if you simply cannot admit to yourself that it is time to stop practicing medicine. We'll never be back and will continue our search for a good Gastroenterologist in the IE. read more

Dr Jenkins is really nice, my problem is the appointments. I have had about 5-7 appointments & NOT a single one has ever been close to my scheduled time!! I have always had to wait about an hour or longer!! My time is just as important as Dr Jenkins time! Dr. Jenkins and his entire staff get's a "5 star" rating from me. Dr. Jenkins is so amazing and takes time "to listen to a patient's concerns" about their questions and needs on any given visit to his office. I've been seen by Dr jenkins. He is a straight shooter in regards to his diagnosis of my colonoscopy I had it with him. . I do respect the dr diagnosis but I don't appreciate the way he approchedime and proceeded to say to me WOW you have got a lot of gastro issues going on for your age. You don't talk to your patients in a disrepectful way. I'm there for your professional help. Very unprofessional and very in personable Dr you are. Your staff are right along with you as far as being professional & respectful. I would recommend NO ONE going to see this dr if you respect yourself as a person and need a compassionate Dr. I didn't want to even give a 1 star rating but had to in order to submit my review.
