Was in a rush so I sat down and used the QR code to order. Placed my order and tried to confirm with the cashier just in case. She didn't really speak English which usually means the food is good. She said the QR codes posted everywhere in the restaurant don't work. So I ordered at the register and the price went from $29 to $42 which sucked but I was in a hurry so I tried to tap my card to pay and she said the card machine doesn't work and I should pay by Zelle. When you want amazing and fast service I recommend coming to this family owned business. Most authentic pupusas and salvadorean food I have tried since visiting El Salvador. Jennifer had amazing communication and recommended amazing dishes. Thank you for everything. I also recommend to try Jr's micheladas in the restaurant! One of the best drinks I have had in a while! I had a craving for tamales and nachos so I ordered from Jennifer's taqueria on doordash as most things are closed for Christmas. I ordered tamales, which claimed to be chicken, and Carnitas Super Nachos and requested that the beans be left off the nachos. The tamale fell apart when I unwrapped it, which is fine, but it was a bean tamale, not chicken. The nachos were covered in beans and the carnitas were overcooked until they were very tough to chew. Both the pico de gallo and guacamole (not pictured) were mostly onions. There was very little tomato or avocado in either. Given that I hate both beans and onions, this was one of my most disliked meals of the year. Luckily, the majority of my meal was refunded by doordash, but it was still incredibly disappointing. Pro's: Food is good and made to order. Our order came out fresh off the stove top. Staff is competent. Place is clean and sanitary. Cons: We paid $40 for an order of chilaquiles and desayuno Salvadoreño. That seems like a lot of money for pretty basic and non expensive food items. Then again we are living in the Joe Biden era where even the most basic items are marked up 200%. We went at around 9am. There was a guy blasting regeaton music with music videos in the background. When I say the music was loud it was loud. I wasn't sure if I was at a reggaeton club or restaurant. I had to shout my order to the lady 3x for her to hear me. Fortunately they have outdoor seating so you'll just have to repeat yourself twice to your spouse. My recommendation:bring ear plugs. Para los empleados de este restaurante. We ordered two super burritos (one dry and one wet) and two tacos. The burritos were carne asada and the tacos were pollo asado. The total cost for these items was $27 and I tipped $5 in the Jar in cash. We then waited a long time and hoped for the best although were told when the food was ready that they didn't have pollo asado and it was noticeable there was no wet burrito..."wet burrito" is how it is written on their menu but we did order that in Spanish because it was not understood what we wanted by saying what was on the menu. Both the burritos were dry, (whoops). I know I could have stopped upon getting my food but I didn't want to wait another 20 minutes. We returned home with our burritos and tacos with a minor adjustment hoping for the best, who could mess up tacos and burritos right? When we got home we threw the tacos away because they looked like microwaved leftovers, the chicken was wet and the tortillas were sloppy, but immediately and tore into the burritos. The only thing fresh in the burrito was the rice, the meat was very very salty, and the whole thing was cold. Maybe our food was sitting there while we waited forever? I do not know. Will not be coming here again, also there was no hand sanitizer for guests and there were people inside with no masks on. If you are looking for a good super burrito, go to La Plaza at Reignstorf and Central Expressway where it is a supermarket, but there is a window for the taqueria and the wait time is way less and the food is so fresh. read more

Comfort Salvadorian food. Very casual atmosphere, with available outdoor parking lot seating. It's counter service, which makes it even more casual and relaxing. Wish they had music to add that Latin American atmosphere. Staff is very friendly and food is very yummy. I had the caldo 7 mares, which was like a seafood stew and was incredible. Oh my god, don't go here. I stayed away from this place after seeing it pop up on Doordash for months due to the poor reviews, but had a craving for menudo and pupusas and gave it a shot. Ordered on Doordash, was super excited about everything-- I got a barbacoa torta, menudo, and 2 pupusas revueltas. I'll start with the torta. Was about 65% the size of actual Mexican tortas and had virtually no meat. Like, maybe 1 oz or less. The sparse filling was spread very very very unevenly, and there was more than twice as much cheese as meat. It also showed up soggy and dripping. But it was the most edible thing, although it was a terrible torta. Okay. Now, for the menudo. I am a menudo fan and am always trying out new places. I've had lots of good menudo, some mediocre, some bad. This was without a doubt the worst menudo I've ever had. I can barely describe the flavor-- tasted like the grease from bland chicken tortilla soup had been collected, watered down, and boiled into a broth. It had none of the actual menudo flavor. To make things way worse, it didn't come with any of the toppings-- no oregano, cilantro, onion, or lime. So it was literally just a greasy flavorless broth with uneven and gray cuts of tripe. Lastly, the pupusas... where do I start. The coleslaw topping and sauce were awful-- the former was shredded way too small and soggy, and the sauce was like.. marinara. Didn't have the acidic kick to it-- it was like watery ketchup, like tomato juice. The pupusa itself looked like it would be good on the outside. However, the pork, bean and cheese filling literally looked and had the texture of, and I kid you not, cat food. It was endlessly mushy, like a sad pink/brown purée. It also had no salt or flavor... the only flavor it had, and I have no idea how the filling came to taste like this, but it was like burnt bread. Very bitter. Like burnt flakes bitter. That being the only flavor in combination with the cat food mush made me literally spit it out onto my plate. The food here was literally so bad that it made my day worse. It is actually kind of hilarious how bad it was. Unless you know exactly what's good here, which I'd wager is almost nothing, go to any of the amazing other mexican places that are close by. I recommend Rincon Sabroso if you're looking for pupusas. Anything in East Palo Alto is always a winner: Taqueria La Cazuela is the best food around! They also have tortas and menudo. Check them out on Yelp. Edit: I got a "compliment" of funny on this review from Jennifer herself, which was basically just a jaded message. As you can see below, the public response is exactly the same as the compliment I got, but with the attitude omitted. What a disappointment!! We decided to try Jennifer's Taqueria after someone recommended this place for tacos. We went yesterday afternoon (5/2/20) & placed an order to go. There were no customers present & we heard an employee in the background, but she never came to the front to greet us. Eventually, from the back she says she'd be with us in a moment. Awesome. We reviewed the menu & had a few questions prior to making our final selection. The women that came to the front didn't appear to want to take the time to explain the menu items. My boyfriend asked questions in English & she responded that she didn't speak English but the way she responded was as if she was a little annoyed. No problem. Yo soy bilingue y puede traducir. We ordered three tacos each, luenga, barbacoa & carnitas. We waited for our order to be completed & were excited to get our food fresh off the grill. We live a couple of blocks away, so we thought we were fortunate to be able to eat our food within minutes of getting it. To our surprise, the tacos were small, soggy & flavorless. Some of the meat was dry. I wouldn't not be surprised if it was meat left over from the day before soaked in water in an attempt to keep it moist. The green salsa had no significant flavor, edible but not great. The red salsa was probably the only thing that had flavor & a nice kick but not enough to salvage the tacos. I know that with a decline in business due to the shelter in place, keeping food fresh may be a problem but this was a huge disappointment. One of my to go to Papusa place. I started liking papusas in college when I first discovered what they were and found this place to have authentic papusas, they are a cheesy goodness. Deducted one star because they prefer cash only for anything under $10. I wish they would accept credit cards for anything over $5. Jennifer's is my favorite in Mountain View for Salvadorian/Mexican food. Had their food at least twice a month when I lived there. All their protein choices are really good, but I can definitely recommend the cabeza(head) and lengua(beef tongue). I know the lengua doesn't sound appetizing to a lot of people, but the people that I've gotten to try it have been converted. It's super tender and flavorful. If you're concerned, try it on one of the tacos before committing to a burrito. I usually get the super burrito, the portion is great for the price. I just recommend asking them for mild if you can't handle spicy food, their salsa has great flavor but a lot of heat if you aren't use to it. I tried pupusa's from them for the first time too. They'll even give you the fried cheese that sometimes get squished out from the pupusa, and it's like eating a cheese chip. The pupusa itself is really good too of course, always crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Overall, great food and good pricing. Glad to have a Mexican restaurant nearby, but definitely not the best Mexican restaurant. The interior is very casual where you can order from the counter. The menu is extensive, and they have food from desayuno, burritos, nachos, pupusas, tacos, flautas, etc. I've tried their nachos, flautas, and the super quesadilla. Jennifer's has all the right makings of an outstanding taqueria: home-style cooking, friendly staff, local vibe, and an attractive/clean interior. They even provide homemade chips and salsa, but you have to ask for them (they keep them hidden behind the counter). Here are lunches I've had here so far: -- Taco place: ($5.50) Chose one carne asada / one carnitas taco. Though these were both pretty small, they were absolutely outstanding, with succulent, chunky, high quality meat; Very good beans and rice on the side. 4 stars. -- Chicken burrito (wet): When I asked what kind of sauce they had, they said "green, red, and mole" I tried not to sound too excited as I said "I'll take the MOLE!"; a few minutes later I received a huge burrito filled with chicken, rice, beans, and smothered in a generous portion of mole sauce. The sauce itself was nothing special, but what other taqueria offers it in the first place?! 4 stars. -- Al Pastor Burrito: Damn this was good! Tangy, BBQ pork with big chunks and even a few crispy bits. Almost perfect. 4.5 stars. -- Pupusa: Made fresh to order (a must) but it lacked containment (it fell apart in my hands after a few bites. It's a hole in the wall Mexican/Salvadorian Taqueria that hubby and I would stop by when we're doing laundry next door. The only thing that you should order here is their Pupusas because it's the BEST thing (or if I want to be frank, it's the only yummy thing) on their menu. We've tried their tacos, buritos, and even the caldo de res and they weren't good. The taco truck parked at Target parking lot (about half a mile away) is a better grub for taco, etc. Just get the pupusas here and you'll come out happy. It is not the cleanest place to grab a bite but the price is reasonable.... Service is slow.... just fyi! and their salsa and condiments sits out for quiet a while... and at times there are some flies hanging around...along with greasy tables. Not sure why it's taken me so long to review this place considering I lived down the street from it years ago. Great mix of Salvadorean and Mexican cuisines. Good pupusas, Salvadorean chicken tamales, and mojarra frita. On the Mexican side, they have a great milanesa torta and their taco meats are all solid. You won't hear me saying this about a lot of other equivalent places but their frijoles are pretty darn tasty. Solid little hole in the wall in Mountain View. There isn't a lot of parking, but it's really cheap and the food is good. It's not main stream, which I think is great, and there seemed to be a lot of hispanic people eating there, which I think is a good sign. The counter service was quick and they were really friendly. I had their nachos and my friends had a burrito and tacos. To be honest, I can't recall exactly what they had, but they did say it tasted great and they cleared their plates. It was generously portioned, tasted great, and cheap. As far as beverages, they have beer and soda to choose from. Definitely check it out. read more

It was tasty enough, but we needed some Mexican food to go with it, for sure! So we walked on over to Jennifer's, which I've been eyeing for a while, and decided to get the vegetarian burrito to split and a side of fried plantains. They threw in some chips and salsa, and the total was about $10. Not so bad! The burrito was mostly rice, with some beans, cheese, and sour cream. My fiance said he spotted a tomato, but I'm skeptical. It was big, and tasted all right, but we've been spoiled by the earth-shattering vegetarian burritos down El Camino Real at Tacqueria El Grullense. Jennifer's had the basic filling, with a little bit more of a kick than you'd expect, but really wasn't anything to write Mexico about. The fried plantains were really good, especially when we dipped them in our weirdo soup! A match made in Mountain View! Overall, I'd say we found Jennifer's to be decidedly mediocre. ***3.5 stars*** a tiny little mexican restaurant across the street from my house, and i'm ashamed to say that i hadn't tried it until last week. surprisingly, the restaurant was empty on a sunday evening. after we ordered at the counter, the waiter brought us 2 glasses of water, which came in brightly coloured glasses. then came our food: 1 chicken taco - tasty with good seasonings, but i only got 2 pieces of chicken. 1 veggie taco - mainly lettuce w/cheese, beans and sour cream. good, but wish there were some other veggies. 1 pupusa w/beans and cheese - this was amazing, my 1st pupusa, and it was crispy on the outside, soft, warm and gooey on the inside, and very flavourful. 2 carnitas tacos w/rice and beans - good portions of meat, very juicy and tasty. for all of this food, the bill was just under $13. throw in cheery staff and a very clean restaurant, and you have two happy customers, who left with full tummies. i'd definitely come back, maybe even for just the pupusa. read more
