I had given Jenns a 5 start google rating a few years back and now , This is a long-pending review from my child's birthday cake order last year. I had intended to write it within a week of the party but never got around to it until now. We picked up the cake the evening before the party on an already hectic workday, with decorations and all the party prep still pending late into the evening. Before refrigerating the cake, I opened the box to take a quick look -- and to my shock, my child's 4-letter name was misspelled on the cake. I immediately called Jenn. She apologized, but when I asked if someone could come by to fix it, that wasn't possible. I then offered to bring the cake to her house to correct it, despite having a long list of party preparations waiting, adding an hour drive back and forth in traffic, but that wasn't an option either because they were unavailable and busy preparing a VIP event order for the same day as my event. In the end, I had to fix the cake myself at home while someone from her team guided me over FaceTime. Jenn had previously mentioned during the ordering process that she treats all customers the same, but unfortunately that was not my experience. The cake topper also had visible smudges and imperfections, which was surprising given this was a paid custom cake paying for each customization. I expected a cleaner finish or at least a replacement topper before delivery. What disappointed me the most was the lack of follow-up. After the event -- or even after my party day -- there was no message, no courtesy apology, no refund offer, and no attempt to make things right. Considering I had been a repeat customer in previous years, I expected at least some acknowledgment or goodwill gesture. Unfortunately, that never happened. Mistakes can happen, but how a business handles them is what truly matters. In this case, the response and lack of follow-up were far more disappointing than the original mistake. I won't be ordering here again Update post Jenns yelp response. Though there wasn't absolutely any follow up post her busy event from Jenn , guess i should 'up' the rating from 1 star considering our previous collaborations , to 3 for the lack of followup inspite of severity of the mistake and difficulty caused to client As this was the 4 th cake in 3 years . read more
