I've been going to Micaela at Jensen & Co. Hair Salon for a couple of years now. I found her by chance through a Yelp review, and I'm so glad I did! She's always fun to talk to and be around. My hair needs are pretty simple--I get a cut every 5-6 weeks, and when I need a lift, Micaela adds a toner to give my hair extra shine. She takes the time to discuss what I want to do, and my style changes a bit every visit. When I leave, I always feel great, and my style lasts until the next appointment. Jensen & Co. is a bright, cheerful salon with happy and friendly stylists and customers. Wish I could be leaving a review about how my hair cut came out but I can't even get that far cause no one here answers the phones or returns voicemails ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ My friend, her daughter and I wanted to get our hair cut and manicures but clearly they're not interested in the business; between the 3 of us that's an easy $300 dollars. I have called multiple times a day every day this week, when it goes to voicemail there's a message saying to leave a voicemail and they will get back to you- clearly bs. Ironically on their website it says that phones are answered daily from 10-6. ----------------------------------------- Response in regards to owner: I can assure you, I have not received any phone calls from the receptionist all week and my voicemail was left on Wednesday. It was a voicemail in regards to a question about the salon in general with your website saying "No kids", and what age you define as a "kid" as my friends daughter wanted a haircut and nail appointment for her birthday. Cute salon in Midtown offering several services! I was greeted with a friendly face upon arrival and sat in comfy chairs while I waited. I saw Sami for my hair and she did a great job! She took time understanding what I wanted and was able to hone in on the perfect color for my curly and color treated hair. This place is great my daughter liked it a lot. It is very lgbt friendly. It is owned and operated by lgbt so you get to know you are supporting the community. Liz was very accommodating to my daughter. Every step of the way she asked my daughter if they liked what was being done or if they understood what their hair was going to look like. Micaela is such a gem! I'd been searching around town for a good hair stylist who could cut my hair ASAP, and I lucked out. She was really nice and listened to all of my hair concerns to make sure I got the cut that I wanted. I came in with a leftover balayage and damaged ends, and she really elevated the look with a trim and fresh layers. As you walk in to the beautiful decorated salon, to your left is the pedi station, to your left is a neatly placed seating area, their hair product shop, and salon behind that, but nestled right in front as you walk in is where the magic for me happens. Cassie has a personality that anyone will love. She's sweet, sassy, and someone I truly trust. Her time is valuable and well worth it. I finally got a hair cut after growing my hair. I wanted something different, but wanted to keep my length. I got it here! I scheduled myself with Sami, and I couldn't be happier with the choice. She was really enthusiastic and listened to what I wanted. When she was cutting my bangs, she did it slowly and a bit at a time so I could assess how I liked them and if I wanted more volume added or Length taken off. I've never reviewed Jensen & Co? How could this be? For shame! Though it hasn't always been Jensen & Co, I've been getting my haircut in this physical location for about a decade. I started when it was Salon 7, a rag tag group of stylists with a pretty fierce and independent personality. Jensen & Co. harnessed that spirit but wrapped it in a bit more polished and modern context. You're typically greeted fairly quickly when you walk in. You tell them who you're there to see and they politely offer you a drink. I've seen the same hairstylist since 2008! Tonya Marini. And in that time I've changed my hairstyle twice. What can I say? I don't know like change! But each time I trusted Tonya to make it look good. She's also pretty efficient with time too. Brian Jensen, the owner, does a great job of participating in our community, making it a better and better place to live all the time. Been coming here since it was called A Salon 7. My go to person has always been Nikki Becker (Hair Genius). I bring my daughter and we both get our hair done here on a regular basis. We are always greeted with a smile and offered something to drink. for under 21 it is water with fruit or tea, for those older than 21 there are wine options. :) It still has that fun, but now modern feel. They offer a barage of services from hair to nails and even microblading. Be sure to call with plenty of time for scheduling. Since I have a go to person, not sure what the availability is for walk ins on any given day. They do have pricing posted on the wall for general services. read more

I had gone to Micaela Meli hoping for a haircut and color (reference attached). During the appointment she asked me to confirm the color on a color swatch so I again showed the reference and she suggested a certain copper color which she said she thought would work well. I rarely color my hair now, so I went with it again saying that I like the color that was in the reference and I was on board if that's what she thought was best. The color turned out drastically different than I was hoping for, I contacted her the next day and she offered to fix it. I washed my hair once after this, and it was obvious that my hair had been overprocessed by the bleaching - my scalp is itchy, my hair is breaking off and falling out, and its is impossible to shampoo because it sticks together in a giant, un-brushable knot. When it's wet it is also kind of stretchy at the root and takes several hours to air dry on its own. I told the stylist this with some extra details and she did offer a follow-up appointment and a free Olaplex treatment which was nice, but alluded to the fact that there is no way my hair was overprocessed despite the facts. I asked for a partial refund, expecting to cover some costs, but was told its against salon policy and the manager, Brian Jenson, said no. I thought that between my hair being so damaged, having to go out and buy multiple masks and treatments for it to help counteract the damage that was caused at this salon, and getting a color that was extremely different than what I asked for would warrant a refund. tl;dr Got a very different color than what was requested & refused a refund. Go elsewhere. Edit: I went to another salon ~4 weeks after this appointment and they said the hair was very compromised and the cut was uneven and choppy. Do yourself a favor and just go someplace else. read more

My previous stylist moved away so I had to find a new one and based on previous reviews and hair styles posted at Jensen & Co. I felt like this would be a great fit. I went in for a blunt lob cut with balayage and showed my stylist Kylan Henderson what I wanted and she definitely delivered. She has been with Jensen for 3 years now and she is caring to what you need and offers amazing conversation. I definitely felt welcomed as a client and listened to. The warehouse style of the salon is not as traditional as most places, but there are dedicated stations (I.e. color, cut, wash, etc) which I loved since it reminds me of a salon I've been to in Brooklyn. My hair is soft and vibrant and Kylan recommended certain products that I went out and bought on my own to help preserve my hair color and cut. I really love this salon! You feel comfortable and welcome from the moment you walk in. The staff is super friendly and everyone that works there seems to really respect each other very much. Today was the 2nd time both my daughter and myself have seen Kailee Seal for hair appointments. She really listens to you and wants to make you happy with your hair and will suggest styles if you are unsure of what you want. The first time I saw her, I went all out with a balayage! I had highlights that I had been unhappy with before coming in and she brilliantly matched my natural hair color and did a beautiful job all around. Today I just had a cut and style (thanks to the balayage lasting so long) and I was really happy with how she listened to what I wanted and the end result. Aleana just gave me a fabulous haircut for $35 (Mother's Day special, regular $40). I'm growing out my hair, but my days of having extremely short hair ingrained in me the habit of regular trims. Aleana listened well to my immediate and longer-term hair goals and did her work excellently. Five out of five stars for her! Some readers might know this salon as the former A Salon 7. The inside walls have been painted white and there is so much less clutter in the space. Instead of three-walled stations for each stylist, there are now stations that are thick enough for cabinets in between the big mirror on each of the two sides. I love the new look! Still urban, still modern, but just less... color-filled. Yes! The hair-washing chairs are SO COMFORTABLE. I don't know why every other salon, including the one I most recently was loyal to, doesn't have them! Also, booking my appointment on the Vagaro website was super convenient. So why only four stars? First, watching out for grade inflation. Second, I hear from my old neighbors, the lovely inhabitants of the Firehouse Lofts above the salon, that the renovation of the salon was hella noisy. There was a little bit of construction noise (some very powerful drill) during my visit. Reason two and a half: no complimentary beverage was offered. Part of me is like, duh, you're getting your hair cut and that might involve tilting your head down or to the side. Drinking just gets in the way of your stylist doing their job efficiently. But another part of me is now used to that being a part of the salon experience. In conclusion: definitely a pleased customer, and I'll most likely return in 10 weeks. read more

Updated my review. This was a absolutely terrible experience. The owner of the salon apparently doesn't care about his clients. I chatted with him for two minutes before he pawned me onto the a stylist that he was training. I pay for the best, and expect the best. Like most older women, haircuts are important. And when the owner of the salon doesn't give a shit it shows. If you actually care about how you look, then I would strongly not even giving this place a try. Edited: I had contacted the owner to try and fix my hair before a very important event, my son.graduating from an IVY league college. He didn't get back to me at that time. No worries paid to get it fixed. It was December 2019. I can put a copy of the receipt from my bank account if need be to refresh your memory. And I can post the money I spent days after to correct the mistakes. I am bit angry at having to spend a couple hundred dollars more. But like I said. When it comes to precious hair, don't settle for excuses. And when there is an owner who would rather argue with customers then do his job, that says it all. read more

So amazing. Lisa Blair that's who. She is a craftswoman of hair, of color. It has been a long road to get my hair back to being healthy and a couple of set backs too. I found Jensen & Co on instagram and began looking at them before COVID, but then COVID hit and we all know the rest. In order to get by I went back to a stylist but not someone who understood color, especially fashion colors. So I began the search again and that's when Jensen & Co popped back in my feed. I began looking at their website and then looked at the stylists themselves and their hair. Lisa's hair had fashion colors and many of her photos showed her hair colored over the years. So I reached out and explained my situation to her and we set an appointment. She talked about her experience and related to how we could achieve my hair goal. She was honest it was going to take time and we would have to reassess at each appointment. I would have to watch my hair and be aware of when it faded, etc. We'll I'm happy to say we're seeing progress and we're heading in the right direction for the goal picture. But the colors she has done now are amazing and each time the hold longer and have more life to them. I'll post pictures later this week of the latest colors. read more

I've been going to Shannon since summer of 2017 and she has been the greatest nail technician I have ever seen in Reno. I believe she really enjoys working on nails to make them the prettiest they can be! Not only is her work clean but she can be pretty creative too, which is my plus for her since I'm awful and is so indecisive every time I come in. Shannon is legit and doesn't use fake tips but creates her own length if you wanted. I have been getting almond and stiletto since I have seen her because she shapes my nails so well. Kylan Henderson did an AMAZING JOB on my hair! I've known Kylan for years, but was seeing another lady that was across the street from me and was very unhappy with her, so I went to see Kylan. Kylan took time to really ask me how I liked my short pixie cut, what my preferences were, how I styled it, etc. She took her time in the actual process of cutting my hair and paid close attention to detail. When she shouted out that she was opening up her availiblity , I ran for it and quickly made an appointment with her for ASAP. I now come every three weeks scheduled for long term. I love the fact that you are greeted when you walk in, they ask you who you are here for and give them your name and you then wait briefly. They have water to offer and lots of magazines to read. I love the vibe here and they are all so very friendly! They have a huge variety of products for sale as well. It is a very loud atmosphere but it is so trendy and such a great feel. I had my worst coloring and haircut experience with the inexperienced stylist named Audrey. The reason i chose her was because she charged less than other stylists but now i regret. She hardly communicated with me during the whole two and half hour treatment because she focused on her mobile phone. I had coloring and haircut many times in my life. This time took me the longest time with the worst result. The water was cold when she washed my hair. Her blow dryer is not professional. It almost burned my ears. She did not bring me a mirror to let me see the back of my hair. I was forced to be taken photos of my hair by her after everything was done. I ended up with a straight line, brittle, and over processed hair that was falling like crazy, and wouldn't curl for months! I had been on a curly girl journey for over a year by that point. In the past I had bleached my own hair AND have gone to different salon and NEVER had as bad results as I did here. Please take in mind that I also asked her before the appointment if she's ever worked with curly hair and she said yes. I feel bad for this review but it was my experience. I'm new to town and have tried 3 different nail salons with poor outcomes. This one is amazing! And they do everything! Literally anything you could want as far as nails OR hair. Cailee Seal for hair is a great choice. She's young and stylish and a total sweetheart! She really worked hard to get me in on my schedule and stayed late to do my hair. It's also hard to find someone who understands my thin blonde hair that gets brassy now that I don't live on the gulf coast with all the sun. She got the yellow/orange out and was super detailed. I made an appointment with Carly Holmes White and waited in anticipation not knowing how it would turn out. I have gotten my hair done at many different salons in the area and haven't been completely satisfied when stylists do not listen to what you want. This is NOT the case with Carly. :) Carly greeted me and right away I knew that I would love her fun personality. We clicked and had a lot in common. She took her time and styled my hair nicely. It was quite relaxing. The blow-out almost lasted a week. It was full of curls and volume. I now get my hair cut and colored from her. I do not live in Reno, but I have to say from an "out-of-towner" perspective, this is some excellent customer service! Yesterday was my best friend's wedding, so I scheduled an appointment online to have my hair blown-out. When I got there they told me I should have received a cancellation notice that morning due to how busy they were - I had not. Despite this convoluted set-up and technological interference, they got me in almost exactly the same time I had originally scheduled. Darby at the front desk offered me a drink while I waited. Oh, Jensen and Co. How I love you! Their stylists are AMAZING. I have been getting my hair, nails, lashes and waxing done there for a few years now. Both Mercedes and Shelby have done my hair and they are both creative individuals that always try their best to make the most perfect hair!! Shelby also did my husbands hair, until he decided to be bald. He always liked his haircuts! Keri and Shannon have both done my nails and my nails are always so cute and everything I want. Plus if I ever have an issue they always fix it! Keri also gives AMAZING pedicures. Her massages are the bomb. Amelia does my waxing and lashes. I have never had my brows or lashes look so good.
