The mussles.. meh. The pear salad... I think the only prep done here was open the bag and throw it on the plate. If we wanted some grocery store bagged romaine and grocery store salad dressing and grocery store carrot sticks we'd have gone to the grocery store and bought some. My partner and I had a delightful dinner here. We arrived around 7 and it wasn't too crowded. We sat outside on the covered cement patio. It's lovely--cool, green plants, pretty lights--with chill music playing throughout. We got the crab dip special small plate and it was rich and delicious. We got steak frites with tender steak and this super tasty compound butter, and also the classic burger cooked perfectly with onions and bacon. My favorite was my Lavender Moon cocktail. We had to ask for our server after to food arrived and when we ordered second round of drinks it took over 10 minutes for them to arrive. Given the limited seating there is no excuse for a draft beer and glass of white wine to take that long. I just hosted a party for my daughters 30th birthday at Jerry's Bar. We used the upstairs room and bar. The coordinations with manager Maryann were excellent! Patty the bartender could not have been more professional, friendly and helpful as well. Patty gets my vote for bartender of the year! The food was great. Everything was delicious and the table was set up as to keep the hot food hot. Everyone raved about the selection of meats and vegetables dishes. Went here with the fam for brunch. It was busy but not crowded. I would recommend getting reservations because they take them, but it was not necessary for us. We were seated and served right away. Cute band was playing (upright bass and guitar, smooth jams). Got a bloody mary, it was good but not amazing, pretty basic with a nice garnishing which was plentiful but not amazing either. To really impress me, they could have had some house-pickles vegetables. That being said, it did the job and was good. I got "eggs Jerry" for my meal and it was also good without blowing my mind. I liked the concept and ate it all with not-overwhelming glee. Family notes: generous portions, good coffee, salty potatoes. All-in-all I love the atmosphere here, it's very cute and food was good. After having several great brunch meals here, my wife and I decided to give Jerry's a shot for Valentine's Day. Unfortunately, we did not have the same experience for dinner than we have in the past for brunch. The seating arrangements were baffling to me - the place is pretty big with a second floor and an enclosed patio in addition to the main dining area, yet we were sat practically on top of the neighboring tables. For a special Valentine's Day dinner, one would think intimacy would be somewhat of a priority. The tables were so crammed that it was a struggle to get up and out, having to walk all the way around other tables because they were so close together. So close in fact, that our server ended up dumping a good amount of the "sauce" that came with my main dish all over me while attempting to set down my plate. Absolutely a normal human error, but certainly not pleasant. Then there was the food - for some reason, the waitress took our app and food orders at the same time, resulting in our apps coming out about 2 minutes before our mains. This wouldn't be a huge deal if it wasn't for the fact that our table was so small and cramped that we could barely fit two plates at once (see above about the sauce spill.) In short, we barely had a chance to touch our apps before the main dishes were served. Not great. The food itself was decent, at least my wife's entree and soup were. Our Duck Eggroll app was fine if not a bit cold, but given that our entrees came right after they were placed on the table, they only got colder. I ordered the pan-seared halibut and aside from most of the sauce being on my lap, it was EXTREMELY salty. Such a shame because the fish was cooked perfectly and the sides were wonderful. All in all, we were very disappointed. For how much money we paid, we expected service and food that matched. I don't think we'll be going back outside of Brunch anytime soon. read more

So let me start off by saying I used to come here all the time and then they switched chefs and it all went down hill from there. Needless to say I gave Jerry's a break..... but I went back tonight and soooooo wish I didn't. We ordered a few small plates and some French onion soup. The soup was meh. The hummus trio was good, the baked Brie was good, the chipotle chocolate mole quesadillas were GAGworthy!!! I ordered be beet salad but they didn't have arugula but then apparently did 10 min later (I opted out). I also ordered loaded fries which came out as plain fries. The cocktails weren't good. I asked for one with gin but did say I typically don't like gin but I want to taste it anyway (my husband might like it).... they swapped out the regular gin for a "sweeter" gin without asking and it tasted like straight medicine. Overall it sucked!!! For 3 people it ended up costing us $160 (before tip) for food and drinks we didn't finish or enjoy. Get another chef. read more

As a former waitress, I understand that things must be more complicated/hard due to COVID or else my rating would have been lower. I went here today around 12pm (so it was quite busy outside) with 5 other friends (total of 6 of us) and it took FOREVER, for us to get our drinks/put our order in. We got sat at 12 and we were putting in our order at 12:45. Why did it take this long? The food is amazing don't get me wrong but the service was HORRIBLE. The waitress even had our order wrong and ended up giving my friend the wrong take out order (she wanted the eggs benny but ended up getting chicken on it) which was a major disappointment because her husband doesn't eat/like chicken. Overall, I wouldn't go here again unless I was craving their food like extremely bad. Please do better with your customer service. read more

I'm so glad that this brunch spot was open and that we were able to sit inside on a cold morning. They have excellent precautions in place, including floor to ceiling plexiglass dividers between tables. I had a hard time deciding whether to post this or not...but it's so ridiculous that I need to. Let's start with the drinks they couldn't make me a simple Manhattan I was not a fan of their borboun infused cherries just give me regular cherries. My friend is not a big fan of gin but she wanted to try the gin drink and all of a sudden the bartender makes it worse by putting a completely different gin in. The food ugh trio hummus was the best thing but it took them forevvvvver to serve the additional sides we asked for and then still charged us for them. DO NOT ORDER the Enchiladas they were the worst thing ever. Also they ran out of argugala for our salad then 10mins later found it(weird). Long Story ending. Worst restraunt experience in a very long time the only good thing was the waitress, she was good(she should have taken the Enchiladas off of our bill and not charged us for the extra pita because it took forever to get to our table) but she was good. We hosted our wedding celebration at Jerry's bar and we are so glad we did. The GM Mary Ann was fabulous to work with and passionate to bring our vision to life. We rented the entire space for a private event of 55. The food was exceptional and everyone raved about the beautiful spread- raw bar, passed hors d'oeuvres, dinner buffet, and bountiful stations of snacks and desserts for guests. Hats off to the chef! The service was also excellent throughout the event. Our guests had the best time. An unforgettable night for sure. Thank you Jerry's! I would highly recommend this restaurant as a party or wedding venue. The vibe was causal with tons of high-end touches. Lived in the area for a while and have always been meaning to try the place out. Got that chance a few Saturday nights ago just for drinks. Pretty crowded but still had decent amount of seating in the back left. Our waitress forgot about us a few times so it was hard flagging her down. She didn't really check up on us either. Instead of trying for a third round of drinks we decided to leave money for what we thought would be our total and left. My hugest pet peeve is when the service blows because you're not ordering food. This review is about 4 months too late but hey! at least i remembered, right? ;-) I threw my husband a surprise 30th birthday here and Mary Ann was so wonderfully accommodating. We had about 25 people and had the whole terrace area to ourselves. They decorate a chalkboard for us so beautifully and everything was set up upon arrival! We had picked out our menu prior to the event and had it set up "brunch" style. It was about 3 or 4 selections plus unlimited bloody marys and mimosas for 2 hours. The only complaints I have is that for the price per person - I would expect more food. My guests were still hungry after leaving the party. It was also an extra $15 per person per hour for the unlimited bloody mary and mimosa option. Which adds up, especially for a 4 hour event that could only drink for 2! I will say though - they 100% accommodated my guests who were vegetarians and had other dietary restrictions which was wonderful. Now we live very close by so we've been here to dine before. Their normal menu is very good and their brunch burger literally makes you drool with the thought of it. But I wasn't too impressed with their catering selections. It was a real shame to pay so much and feel like you didn't get enough, especially when its 25 people. Went to Jerry's tonight, first time since COVID, and had a bad experience ranging from menu to service to recovery. 1. Ordered a raw bar tasting which should come with 3 stone crab claws as indicated on the menu. It did not. Asked server about the omission and kitchen was blamed for not informing of any substitute on the menu. Mignonette sauce was made with apple cider vinegar (not detailed on menu) which is strange and not good. Complained and was brought wine vinegar without shallots. Shrimp was either old, freezer burn, or overcooked. 2. Ordered the only hazy IPA on menu, in a can, and was given a glass of raspberry tart ale in a glass; both from Treogs. When questioned, server said it was correct. 3. Spoke with manager about these issues and was offered a gift card but felt the interaction was not sincere or authentic so declined the service recovery attempt. I recently had my bridal shower at Jerry's Bar upstairs and could not have been happier. Mary Ann was so sweet and accommodating to us throughout the entire process of booking, planning, and executing the event. When our original plans changed slightly, she was able to get creative and still make the shower perfect. The food was prepared to perfection - I particularly loved the "Jersey Scramble" eggs and the hummus plate. I shouldn't forget to mention the french toast, either, which is some of the best I've ever had. The servers and bartenders were fantastic. I still don't know how they managed to execute their jobs so well while dodging my 2 year old son, who took up an obnoxious amount of floorspace playing with his toy trucks. Empty dirty plates were gone almost instantly and empty drinks refilled just as fast. When our time was up, the staff never made us feel pressured to hasten our clean up. Rather, they were very helpful boxing up all of the food, and even helped carry some of the gifts to my car (above and beyond). In terms of ambience...the Sunday live jazz was incredibly enjoyable! Staff was friendly. To start the meal, tried the meatballs. The meatballs were good. The sauce they were served in was great and the meatballs were juicy and flavorful. I tried the chicken sandwich. The chicken sandwich was good, but nothing special. I tasted the burger and found it to be a better choice. The burger was good and the combination of bacon and egg knocked it up a notch. Decent trendy bar/restaurant on a quiet corner in NoLibs. It's tucked away in a random corner, but it's hard to miss as there are Jerry's Bar signs all throughout the neighborhood. Dimly lit interior with a few different areas/rooms to eat/drink in - the bar is immediately to the left with tables to the right, a back room under the upstairs back room, and a side room. There was a guy playing the guitar and singing near the front bar on a Friday night, so it's cool to see that they have some live music. A bit loud since the place isn't that big, but it was nice to listen to some live music for a change. Warning for vegetarians - they only have ONE option besides their salads and it's their falafel burger, which was filling, but extremely dry. It comes on a warm brioche bun, with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and this tasty tzatziki sauce. The fries it came with were also tasty with this sweet thick ketchup. We also ordered fried pickles for appetizer and they weren't bad, although the pickle slides out of the fried breading pretty quickly. However, the remoulade was AMAZING - we ordered more sides of that to dip our fries into. It was super tasty, slightly tangy, and perfect with anything fried you dip into it. My friends got the fried chicken burger and the BBQ short rib sandwich, and they enjoyed their sandwiches. There's a wide variety of drinks, and we enjoyed a few of their signature cocktails, but they also have a beer and wine list. Overall, the service was good and the people are extremely nice. Went here with a couple friends some night in the city. Though our trip was short and just for a few drinks, it was nice. Pleasant environment and good beer. Prices were moderate. 7 for most beers. This is NOT some place with crazy night life and shoulder to shoulder noise. The atmosphere was much more mellow and there were some open tables. Honestly kind of nice for what we were looking for. I was not pleased with my food. On the menu was "2eggs any style" I wanted 2 boiled eggs. The waitress said,"we can do it like that". I said, "do you have a pot, water and a stove?" She said, "yes but we don't serve boiled eggs". If they don't serve boiled the eggs then they should not have egg any way you like it on the menu. I order a side of eggs over easy and a side turkey sausage. It was not worth the $10 I had to pay. My friend ordered pancakes for her 6 yr old son and the waitress bought out this huge stuffed pancake. That pancake was not kid friendly. The waitress knew it was for the kid and I think she should have gave some input on how the pancake was made. So we sent the stuffed pancake back and requested plain pancakes for the kid. My boyfriend and I trekked all the way to NoLibs for brunch at the much-talked-about Jerry's Bar on Saturday. We had a late start and arrived around 2, so there wasn't a wait for a table which was great as I was getting pretty hungry by that point. The bar is really pretty. Lots of very cool touches with regards to decor and a beautiful outdoor patio adjacent to the dining room. We started with a round of bloody marys and coffee. The bloody mary came with an Old Bay rim and a skewer with an olive, cornichon, cherry tomato, banana pepper and a gigantic shrimp. Pretty delicious. The coffee was very tasty as well, I'm thinking it was probably La Colombe which is my fav. I've been on an eggs benedict kick lately so I went with that, and shared a side of delicious thick-cut bacon. The eggs in my benny were perfectly poached and served over tiny toast rounds with thin slices of ham. The hash browns alongside were ample and delicious though pretty greasy. But, you know, hash browns. My boyfriend had the croque madame which looked delicious though he thought it could have used more cheese. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and I'd really like to get back there for dinner sometime soon. read more

I've mentioned on numerous occasions that I'm not a Brunch person. I love the idea of mixing breakfast with anything. I love the idea of also adding alcohol to that equation. Heck, booze has become such a big part of it that I'm pretty sure that "Brunch" is actually a combination of "Breakfast" and "Drunk". No, I think my problem with Brunch is that it's become too fancy, too trendy. It's not uncommon to wait over an hour for seating at almost every place that offers Brunch. The offerings are things I often have to ask my much more seasoned Brunchers for clarification. Essentially, I'm too stupid to "get" Brunch. Despite my bias, I found myself at Jerry's Bar this mild Sunday afternoon. I was meeting with dear friends who suggested the place because the last time we met for brunch it was at the now gone Cafe Estelle and we enjoyed it. Jerry's chef was the Estelle chef so it was a no brainer. Being that this is a bar, it's not BYOB so we had a few drinks while we waited for a table. It was a long wait but when you are with good friends, it doesn't matter. I really liked the staff and atmosphere at Jerry's. Very warm and simple. Again, the menu was a little fancy for my loutish preferences. Give me eggs, bacon and toast and I'm good. It is nice ,however, to do something off the path occasionally so I prepared for something good. We shared a cinnamon bun and agreed that Estelle's was better. I went completely against the grain and got a cauliflower and cheese omelette. I didn't like it, but I take off no points for it because it was my own stupidity. I didn't like the apple butter in it ( I hate mixing sweet and savory). I saw it on the menu but read it as apple smoked bacon. Yes , I'm an idiot. Everything else was fantastic. I got a side of sausage that seemed house made and was great. I had a touch of Brunch Envy at the Brunch burger my friend ordered. It looked really good. So overall, if you are a Brunch person, Jerry's is for you. It pretty much hit all of the requirements of a great Brunch experience. Here's hoping I never have to type " Brunch " ever again. Wow. All i can say is wow. This place is probably one of the best places to eat/chill/relax/chillreat in not only Northern Liberties, but the city altogether. Opening only a little over a month before the writing of this review, it has not failed to be a great experience through and through every time I have gone. Jerrys only opens for brunch on Saturdays and Sundays at 10am, with Sunday being the Jazz Brunch, with a little jazz ensemble playing some smooth tunes in the background. Otherwise during the week the bar opens at 4pm and restaurant officially opens at 5, but they will serve you no matter when you come in. Even if they decide not to, just relaxing in the clean, airy, rustic, and overall comfortable environment is a treat in and of itself. Now to the food. Every meal I have had here has be absolutely perfect. I say that with no reservations. I can think of nothing that disappointed me about the food here. Ordering the chicken and bow-ties is probably the best decision i have made in my life. It takes about 20 min to prepare since it is made to order, but trust me it was worth every second of the wait. The chicken and its skin were cooked to juicy, crispy perfection. The accompanying broth, bow-tie pasta, and shaved thigh meat were the dolby speakers to the chicken's 4K TV. Glorious. For brunch, I ordered the buttermilk pancakes. The fluffy pillows of goodness had perfect hints of vanilla and cinnamon baked right in. With liberal amounts of the accompanying warm syrup slathered on you have the most delicious American breakfast in front of you. The jazz in the background was the icing on the cake. Jerrys Bar is my go to place in Northern Liberties. They got it right straight from the beginning and are showing no signs of slowing down. I hardly ever write bad reviews but I feel compelled this time. I've heard really great things about Jerrys bar and especially brunch. When I went here for brunch I walked in and really liked the environment and decor. They had live music that was super pleasant and distracted from the slow service (even tho the place was pretty empty). I ordered a mimosa (which was great) and the eggs Benny (the quality for which, I will get to) My partner ordered the portobello polenta. First of all they waitress came out with the wrong order, for which she then corrected when I pointed it out. But the eggs Benny was inedible. The eggs were not poached... The whites were still clear and the yolk literally separated from the liquid whites since it was so raw. When I brought it up to the waitress, she said "no it's not raw". Listen, I know what a poached egg looks like. You shouldn't be able to spread the egg whites on your toast like its a dressing. The yolk was slippery and covered in placenta. My partners polenta was literally soup. It was soup with two stupid slivers of mushroom. They put the same uncooked eggs in it and I watched her pick the clear bits out of her polenta. We brought this up as nicely as possible to the waitress but she didn't seem to think we had a right to our opinion and that we should just eat raw eggs. When the check came there was no discount or comp, even though they cleared our table of two uneaten rotten tasting plates. I am far from a Philly Gastro pub expert but Jerry's has got to be one of the bests in Philly. The vibe is awesome. It felt like I was walking into a neighborhood pub with all the decor and food quality of a top notch restaurant in town. Their drink list and draft list was pretty great, having something for everyone. Thankfully, the menu totally lived up to my hopes and dreams. I think after my first bite I started thinking...yes, thank you Jerry who ever you are. Welcome to the neighborhood. Now onto what we ordered. Unfortunately, by Sunday night of labor day weekend, I could barely consider even indulging in some cocktails though I absolutely plan to come back and fix that. I did try their commonwealth cider on tap which I loved. It was much less sweet than most ciders. After drinks, we started with the meatballs and toast mainly because we started drooling after seeing them on someone else's plate. These were good. Totally tender, served in a tasty marinara and covered with a nice parmesan finished off in a little skillet. I'd order these again for sure. I then had the moules frites and they were fantastic! I loved the broth and the mussels were super fresh and tender. The broth was a belgium ale with leeks and mustard seeds. Delicious. My man had the burger with this amazing crumbled cheddar that was simply heaven. It was so good he actually made me take two bites to make sure I got the appropriate amount of cheese in each bite...that's love. The best part for me was the amazing bun. First let me say that I'm glad to have a nice new non-Piazza spot in the neighborhood, but for me Jerry's has been hit or miss. They have a fairly extensive beer & cocktail list and the food is mostly good (the falafel, peirogies, trio of dips, churros). I also love the look of the place and they have a nice off-sidewalk outdoor dining space. Plus it's a bit off the beaten path, off the main drag of 2nd street and away from the noise and crowds. The atmosphere is more upscale than the other beer & burger spots in the neighborhood, and that's why I was extra dissappointed with my mussels the other night. I was expecting nice fresh mussels and thought that in a place like Jerry's I wouldn't have to worry about sand & grit, but alas, my mussels SUCKED. They had that funky old mussels taste to them and every one I bit into had grit/sand in it. Needless to say, I didn't finish them. I guess it was an off night since they are raved about in other reviews but still, that's no excuse. I guess I should have complained but I didn't want to be an asshole. My other, much more minor complaint is about my martini. I ordered an extra dirty martini but what I got was more of an ever-so-slightly dirty martini. Don't get me wrong, it was a tasty cocktail but was not extra dirty...or dirty at all really. I'll definitely keep going to Jerry's but I'll steer clear of the mussels and stick to the beer. read more

This place is awesome. A Jazz Brunch with pleasantly laid back music and a really refined menu. The decor is retro and very comfortable. We have been twice and my husband ate all of his food and the rest of mine both times. It can get crowded, but we did not have to wait for a table either time we went there. Woody the bartender was attentive, friendly and helpful when it came to making choices about what to order. Parking was available on the street. I really liked this place and I will be returning the next time I am in Philly. It's a cool place. read more
