This place has, without a doubt, the worst waitstaff in Middletown. 3 people "working" 30 customers and it took 35 minutes before anyone took our order. Sitting here listening to an awesome band and the waitstaff has paseed by our table numerous times, but don't bother asking if we need anything. I like this delivery pizza. We built our medium pizza with; ricotta, chicken, mozzarella garlic and tomato sauce. I like the crust: it was thin enough in the area with toppings and soft and crusty in the minimal crust area. It was an hour and fifteen mins for it to be delivered on a Sunday night. This is kind of long. $2 delivery fee which is cheaper than the "860 to go" option from other pizza delivery options of $4.99 delivery fee. I ordered a grinder for pick up and when I arrived there was a customer waiting for his order inside WITHOUT a mask. There was a sign on the door that clearly states NO SHIRT NO MASK NO SERVICE. Staff as well as the owner were aware that this customer did not have a mask on. I immediately Questioned it and cancelled my order! Ok. Usually the food is good here. Good pizza. And I have ordered from them a lot. But now for the 3rd time (not in a row) there has been an issue with my food so now it's time to post a review. I will not be ordering again either. As you can tell by my name, I'm Italian. Raised Italian. So I know authentic Italian food. But you definitely don't have to be Italian to know expired meat. I've been jonesing for pizza for about a week, so when my boyfriend suggested we go to one of his old favorite pizza places, I jumped at the chance. I'm still jonesing for real pizza. What we got was a very thin crust that wouldn't support the weight of the toppings and was pale at the edges. We didn't order an overloaded pizza either, just sausage and peppers. The sausage was sliced wafer-thin and was flavorless. I'm not usually one to sprinkle crushed red pepper on my pizza, but I had to do something to give it some flavor. My boyfriend ended up adding grated Parmesan to his for the same reason. The bar next door, Matty's, evidently has the same owners as Jerry's. At 6 pm on a Sunday night, the bass from whatever "music" they were playing over there came thudding through the common wall, making our visit unpleasant. Now I order from Jerry's pizza A LOT. I grew up on it. But today has been the most unprofessional conduct I have ever seen. I know it takes a good hour, sometime 1.5 hours for a delivery to portland... fine. But dont have your delivery driver call us, ask what apartment number we are, then drive off without even knocking or trying!!! My husbands family is born and raised in the area. We typically frequent another pizza joint When we are in town but tonight they were closed so I gave Jerrys a try. Woman who answered the phone was friendly enough, nothing to write home about. There was lots of yelling in the background and she seemed distracted. I was told 25 min which I thought was very reasonable for a Friday evening. Upon my arrival about 30 minutes later, I could immediately see where the yelling is coming from. All cooks, waitstaff and counter people are clearly frustrated with each other and it shows. I stated my name and what I ordered. The man behind the counter turned around to a stack of par-baked pizzas, pulled one out and popped it in the oven. This was an immediate turn off, I was expecting fresh pizza!!! Once he boxed it up, I saw the box on the top of the oven was the other piece to my order (garlic bread). Sure enough I got home and the garlic bread was ice cold and the pizza tasted like left overs. I couldn't stomach either, my kids were so hungry they ate it anyway. This review is for a large Sicilian cheese pizza. Crust: Thick like a traditional sicilian style pizza. The pizza was obviously cooked in an old pan with a thick coating of built up oil. The crust tasted of rancid oil and pan funk. Great sicilian pizza is made on a well seasoned pan sure, but this pan needed to be washed and reseasoned. The after taste in my mouth right now is honestly making me want to retch. The sauce: Pinkish in color. Tastes like something between Prego and Spaghettio sauce with lots of extra salt added. No seasoning evident besides salt. No real tomato flavor. Salty pink stuff. The cheese: Translucent and sickly in appearance. Was barely melted. Very low quality, flavorless cheese. It looked and tasted like the cheese you might find on very cheap frozen pizza. Like the $1 frozen pizza. Altogether: Hands down, worst pizza I have ever had. I'm not that picky, I will eat any pizza I spent money on. I couldn't stomach more than one slice of this pizza. True, I may only have tried one menu item here, but that one item was so utterly terrible I will never bring myself to order anything from them again. read more

The Mozz did nothing to excite me, and the sauce had no real flavor either. Kind of sweet but acidic...but not in the least fresh tasting! The pepperoni was fine, but nothing to write home about. Not like Pepe's where it is so fresh and yummy that I want to pick it off the rest of the pie! LOL They say they make their dough fresh every day, i don't know how that is possible with it being soooooo chewy and hard to eat, My teeth are literally throbbing! What a tremendous disappointment. Jerry's in the 90's was top notch, not so much now. Pizza will typically have a lake of grease on top. Be prepared for the cheese to slide right off like a marble on a ramp. Delivery: horrendous. Recently, I moved to the other side of Middletown, and Jerry's became the closest pizza shop. I've gotten takeout a number of times since. Unfortunately, Jerry's is way too inconsistent, and nowadays we just tend to skip the pizza because of it. Their baked potato pie is fairly reliably good, so we will get that if we are really in the mood, but generally I just prefer not to give them my business because I never know what I'm going to get in terms of quality. Issues I generally have with their pies: 1) I don't know what they do, but half the time when we get our pizza home, the cheese has slid all over the place. I've never had this issue with any other take out pizza. 2). I've ordered pizza with toppings, and have gotten the stingiest amount of topping. Seriously, they should be ashamed. I ordered a mushroom pizza once, and had three mushrooms on my slice. If you hit them on a good day, you're in luck. If not, it's a total waste of money. read more

Their white clam pizza is justifiably famous, and their red sauce pizzas are the best tasting non-New Haven style pizza (that is, not thin crust) anywhere. We were in Middleton CT for a football game against Wesleyan University. We hosted a post game tailgate to feed our players and parents following the game. We ordered from Jerry's Pizza based on feedback via yelp and other food blogs. We were not disappointed. The wings and wraps both Buffalo Chx/ Bbq Chx were delicious! We ordered a variety of pizzas and they were ALL yummy. The favorites were the white shrimp, and the buffalo Chx pizza. We recently tried Jerry's Pizza's wings for the 1st time on our latest visit for our monthly car club meeting. (We changed our location a few months ago because one of the guys has Celiac Disease and they have a good selection of things he can eat here.) We ordered two plates of 24 and a salad for our gluten free friend. I don't often have wings, but I definitely wouldn't hesitate to have them again! With so many flavors it was hard to decide. We ended up trying the Bourbon and the mild wings (for the old guys in my car club). They came out fresh and hot with plenty of meat on the bone, just the right amount of breading and perfectly spiced. They are a little like Hooters, but not overly breaded. Everyone loved them! We also had their pizza which is really good. We had the Loaded Baked Potato, Buffalo Chicken, a White Pizza with extra garlic and for our gluten free friend Pasta Primavera (he said it was fantastic and I can't believe he at the whole plate!). I never thought I would like broccoli in the loaded baked potato pizza, but it really worked. Everyone loved the pizzas. They said they liked how the pizza is just the right thickness. I eat at Jerry's several times a month and each time I go in I am never disappointed. The aroma hits you as soon as you walk in the door - immediately you feel at home. The staff is very friendly and very hard working. They keep the restaurant clean and comfortable. And the food?... The food is phenomenal. I love the pizza and have been fond of it for years. I really enjoy the Jerry's Special (Pepperoni, sausage, peppers onions and mushrooms). Every bite is overloaded with toppings. The Buffalo Chicken is spicy but not so spicy you can't finish it :) The Sicilian with Mozzarella is another one of my favorites. You'll never finish a Calzone sitting there - you'll have some leftover for another meal :) And where grinders are concerned - same thing. A small may be a good size, but get the large because you'll regret it if you don't. I'm partial to the turkey grinder, hot with roasted peppers and every time I get it, its better than the last one. The tuna grinders and eggplant grinders - also great choices. And add toppings to them, don't be shy, they probably have twenty to choose from. Thank you Jerry's for being a part of our town.
