I have been a fan of Mr. Pickles for many years. I almost always get their vegetarian sandwich. I had not been in a while and was in the area so I decided to stop and get my favorite sandwich. The place was empty, which was my first red flag. Mr. Pickles always has a line of customers. The only employee I saw was a woman that came out from the back. She was not friendly at all and seemed annoyed when I was trying to place my order. I was definitely getting an attitude. If I hadn't been really hungry I probably would've just walked out. The sandwich was OK, but not the great sandwich that I had come to expect. There was hardly any avocado on it at all and t wasn't even cut in half properly. Located along El Camino near Downtown San Mateo, parking is limited and very difficult to find. We were lucky enough to get some street parking. The employees work quickly and efficiently. The sandwiches are yummy. I ordered the Abbott on dutch crunch. I highly recommend. There was so much meat which was amazing. The other ingredients balanced out nicely as well. I think I paid over $14.00 dollars for a sandwich on sourdough bread roast beef with everything on plus chees. while the flavor was fairly good it only had 2 slices of roast beef, and I did notice that the preparer did not wear gloves and he was handling cash, will not be going back. read more

The worst part is on all 4 occasions, whether in the store or via Doordash, my order is always missing stuff or wrong. Our second trip to Mr. Pickles was the seal on the deal. They were up to a tough customer who had been yearning to chomp a deli sandwich for two years. Going thru massive amounts of dental work I had this on my mind during my long recovery. A little English barrier with one server but we got thru that quickly. Luck was on our side for 2 times now we beat a large crowd. The sandwich! Turkey, Swiss, Cranberry ($1.69 extra), lettuce, tomato, pickle, mayo, salt, pepper on Dutch crunch. As you can plainly see from many other reviews, they are quite shy about putting enough in a sandwich. In my case, mostly all lettuce & tomato & very little roasted chicken. They make sure to wrap it nice & tight, so until you actually open up all the wrappings & discover how bare the sandwich is, it's too late. U can't screw people over & expect them to come back. I called and spoke to Luis who said I can only get a refund if I drive 15 min back to the store and bring him back the sandwiches I told him it's to late we are already adding food to it just we are disappointed and can you at least give 20 percent off or something for the next visit and he said no.
