The barista (tall, brown hair, femme, cool glasses) picked it up and carried it over to me. I said "hey I'm not trying to be rude, but I heard the cook cough when he was plating my food and he sounds pretty sick. Could you ask him if he is sick?" They looked pretty annoyed with me and returned a moment later saying the cook would not answer the question. I asked for a refund bc I didn't feel comfortable eating the food. They should have apologized, but instead they treated me like I was an annoyance. What a silly way to lose a customer--I am a local and would have been back had they not treated me that way.

I got so lucky because there was only one loaf of sourdough left and as I was leaving another couple came in asking if they had any left. I knew I should have preordered a couple loaves but it was a busy week and I never remembered at the right time. I also picked up a couple loaves of ciabatta, olive focaccia , chocolate cherry shortbread , a ginger cookie and a chocolate peanut butter sandwich cookies from the cooler. Every single item was amazing. It was a tie between the chocolate PB cookie and the shortbread on which was my favorite. Both were amazing. I can't wait to try their bagels! The girl who waited on me was super nice and helpful. I wish we had a bakery like this in the Charlotte area but I will gladly make a day trip on the weekend to drive to Swannanoa for Ovenbird and stop at my other favorite restaurants/shops.

We even saved what we had left and used it later on a campfire breakfast during our road trip. The biscuit we made at camp wasn't quite the same, but that jam still stole the show. Their homemade butter was another standout, and the coffee menu had plenty of great options. Everything we tried was fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and absolutely worth it. There was a handwritten chalkboard with all of the menu items for the day. Unfortunately the regular breakfast cookies, which are our go-to, were sold out. My son did snag the last gluten free breakfast cookie. My daughter opted for a blueberry muffin while I had the pineapple banana bread. Both were good but not quite as good as our usual breakfast cookies. The gluten free breakfast cookie was put in a bag along with the non-gluten free items, which was a little concerning.
