The sammiches here are great. They are fresh and full of flavor. The staff are friendly, relaxed and take care of you. All is good. If I had to have a complaint it'd be that I wish they had more hamburger meat for the cheeseburger sub. They tend to run out of this a lot. They also take care of Veterans here. This place used to be epic - they made delicious sandwiches on homemade bread. This was our "go to" lunch to take out on a boat and was always a special treat. Our lunch there yesterday was awful - overpriced subs on hard, flavorless bread. I assume this is now under different management that has changed the winning formula. Also - it is tacky for the store manager to loudly discuss how much money is made during the day with the other employees in front of all of your customers. The food is decent - really nothing special, but compared to other places to eat around here it's not too bad. The food is certainly overpriced, which is why I have only been here twice. After my most recent visit, I have decided that I will NOT be returning. My biggest complaint is the customer service, which at the Kenai location is absolutely awful. I recently went in there & ordered a sub, when I got the sub there were onions on it (which I strongly dislike). I double-checked the menu to see if I had missed the listing of onions on the ingredients, but upon looking I saw that onions were NOT listed as an ingredient. I asked the employees if the sub usually came with onions. They looked at me as if I had 3 heads and said, "Yeah." I commented that onions were not listed as an ingredient on the menu to which they didn't reply. I then asked if they would mind making me a new one without onions. The employee said she would, then audibly complained about having to make a new one to her fellow coworker. It took this employee a full 5 minutes to begin making my sub (yes, I began timing her when it became apparent that she was not making a new sub for me). The employees continued to give me and my entire party dirty looks while making the second sub. Not once did they apologize for the error. I feel like if I'm going to go out and spend nearly $30 on two subs, the employees shouldn't treat their error as though it is mine. I tried to visit the website that was listed at the bottom of their menu when I came home so I could inform the owners of the poor customer service their employees are displaying, however the website did not work and I could not find any contact info for them. I strongly doubt I will be returning as I can make a sub of equivalent taste for 1/3 of the price on my own. read more

3 stars with a star for nostalgia, culture, and customer service. Just like the Kasilof and Soldotna locations, this is a standard sub shop offering jersey style subs on fresh bread. Personally, I love this place. I'll never stop going to either locations as long as I live. Kenai specifically has a drive through but make sure you call ahead. read more

I love their subs. You're not going to find a more authentic sub on the Peninsula. I love their hot pastrami. the Harley Hog seems to be a favorite also. They also have a store in Soldotna and of course theres the original bus out in Kasilof. read more

I would give a MINUS STAR, but that option is not available. Never got to try the food. They are supposed to close at 6, but at 5:40 the grills were off and they were not serving food. The counter person was EXTREMELY RUDE! I will NEVER come back to this crappy place. read more

Having lived in South Jersey and eaten some great Philly Cheesesteaks, I'd have to say their subs are the closest to the real thing I've had in the last 20 years of living in Alaska. The cheesesteak and the pastrami are my favorites. They are a bit skimpy on the meat, and yes, the service can leave a bit to be desired at both the Soldotna and Kenai shops. Prices are high unless you get a coupon out of the Redoubt Reporter for buy one get 1/2 off the next. read more

Well the sandwiches are pretty good but that really is all that can be said for this place. I have tried twice now (gave them a 2nd chance) but they have no customer service! I asked for a sandwich and asked them to take off the pepperoni but they actually refused. Previously they had explained that their meats all are pre-packaged so they can't make changes (I asked to replace the pepperoni with ham) that time I just left after 3 requests and 3 no's. This time I just wanted them to peel off the pepperoni. I explained this and the person behind the scenes making the sandwiches said he can't I would have to do it myself. I said wow you guys are really focused on customer service and paid. The guy working the counter actually opened and removed the pepperoni for me and quietly left a note on the sandwich that he had done so. That moved them from 2 stars to 3 stars. I just don't understand why they would make me feel so frustrated and unwanted as a customer. Here I am paying $10 for a sandwich and you can't make any changes whatsoever to my order?! And you make me feel like I am putting you out when I dare to ask. Subway makes my sandwiches however I want, and they did years ago even when their meat was all pre-packaged as well. So why don't I just go to Subway then? I probably will next time, but I actually like Jersey Subs bread better and think the meats are a bit better. But not enough better to put myself through the hassle, at least not for quite awhile. read more
