We decided to do a last minute impromptu birthday party for myself there on Friday night. It was pretty much what I wanted which was open, not too crowded with a friendly group on the inside. My biggest (and really only) issue was that the music on was so incredibly loud that when a new song came on, we little cringed. I think at some point they got the hint that we were all in pain and turned it just a tad down. They had a juke box mp3 player which was very popular and had a ton of songs. I though .50 per song was a bit steep but with enough drinks in you, everyone was throwing their money in there. It also had 1 pool table which is always fun. Wednesday nights are a steal here. $2.20 basket of wings. $2.00 pints. What's not to love about that? It's the dive of dive bars, so don't expect anything flashy or fancy. But it has everything you'd need to get by if you just want to have fun. Plenty of TVs with sports, a pool table, an air hockey table and a juke box. Wednesday Wing nights are pretty popular, therefore causing a lot of traffic. Sometimes they run out of pint glasses, so you'll receive a just used glass that was washed out real quick, or a plastic cup (that doesn't quite hold a pint). There are tons of wing orders coming in all night, so the man in the kitchen is overworked. I feel bad for him, having to cook the wings and bust them out to the tables in a packed bar. I used to be a regular on Wednesday, which was during my single days because the beers and the wings were (and are) super cheap and I could get a belly full of both for next to nothing. Sadly, my doctor told me to knock off the fried foods so Jersey's got crossed of the to-do list. That isn't to say I don't stop by on occasion for a beer or two after work. As far as bars go, this would be classified as a dive. I mean that as much as a compliment as I can. Having said that, it does have a cleaner feel to it compared to the other dive bars in the area (not to name any names, but there is one a couple doors down that could use some updating). There is a decent selection of beers on tap, a nice porch out back for those nice nights, and good beer and drink specials on week nights. What would draw me back is the bartenders. The ones I met there are some of the nicest, laid back people ever. When I drop back in and I see they're still working there, I'll add a star just for the service. read more

I pride myself on being a connoisseur of hot wings. For the South Bay, there is no better than a wing Wednesday at Jersey's. Their chef reaches levels of artistry with his craft that is purely transcendent. Though the wings themselves are little sauce drenched sirens that call to me week to week, 10 wings for 2 dollars is an unparalleled special even those who can occasionally enjoy wings are keen to partake in. Obviously, this is a dive bar. Tacky wall hangings surround you, the jukebox has classic rock hits that are older than most of the patrons, a pool table occupies half of the open floorspace, but herein lies the character. Anyone who claims to be a man/woman of the people can appreciate the character of this bar. Regulars and bartenders are close friends, indeed this might be the bar from Cheers brought to life in the South Bay. The reference to Cheers is not made in passing. Indeed, multiple attendances at this bar will give you familiarity with the regular who sits in his reserved seat at the end of the bar who will happily decry "homos" at the bar. Britney, the bartender is quick with come backs to the dirty jokes the more comfortable attendees will make regularly. Other patrons are characters you'll see from bars in the area: there's that bartender from Silvio's playing pool! There's that guy who vomited off the balcony at Fat Face Fenner's! Big Jeff is a calm and cool core of the bar experience, encouraging the loud raucousness of a bar like this but maintaining sanity. The female bartenders are fun and the patrons are real. Anyone who would claim to like dive bars but cannot enjoy Jersey's are posers who talk big, but simply cannot hang in a place this real because they'd get their asses kicked. In a place like Jersey's, you'd deserve whatever you get: good time or bad. read more

I give it a 2 star bar just cause the shot they gave me was a big pour but going to jerseys bar was a mistake. One bartender that day soI felt sorry for her, but she should've expected that. Gave her a chance but she was just rude about everything and a lot of favoritism going on. Her" friends /regulars "are all drunk and harassing us. I'm a huge fan of this place and I really didn't think I would be. Place is super fun with a super friendly environment and cheap prices. The bartenders are super chill and I'm glad it's super close to where I live. A friend introduced me to this place a few weeks back and now we're there almost once a week after work or if we have no plans on a friday or saturday night. Parking is a little hard to find but other than that, the place is always lit even when there's not too many people there. Best part is if you get hungry there's a bomb pizza place a few doors down who's usually open til real late. Perfect combo. read more

This place rocks!!! Some of the nicest bartenders in the Southbay, and really some very freindly regulars that hangout. I have met some great freinds in this bar. The out door patio is great to get away from the noise and spend a Sunday afternoon in the sun with a 1$ tacate. They got new cooks so the food is fantastic and anyone from New Jersey they have Taylor Ham on the menu!!!!! Great assortment of tap & Bottle beers and a fun liquor selection. They don't have everything but it is a "Dive" Bar not a upscale high society lounge...it is what it is, and it ROCKS!!! Me and my friend come here every Wednesday. Food is delicious, Mark is a great cook and bartenders are always very welcoming. Good times here! But whoever manages supplies and maintance should do better job! I used to live in the area - I was only walking distance to Jersey's. What's your excuse? Jersey's used to be my haunt when I was looking to walk to the bar. It had one trump on Rebos (RIP) and O'Hearn's - it was always empty. Sometimes you just want to get a beer and you don't want to deal with the crowds. Jersey's was good for that. What Jersey's wasn't so good on was anything else bar related. I can only justify the star they did get by their air hockey table, even if it is in disrepair making a game of air hockey rather dangerous. The beer is expensive. Last time I was at Jersey's a pitcher was twice as expensive as a pitcher down the street at Papa Guido's (which has better food). There is just no justification for that in a dive bar like this. Even the hard liquor selection here is laughable. What kind of bar doesn't stock Johnnie Walker? It's not like they only had Red Label or Black Label, they had none of it! That's inexcusable. A dive bar gets a pass from me if they are at least good at being a bar. Jersey's fails at that. I really can't think of any redeeming qualities here. The location is good if you live nearby. Otherwise, there's no good reason to come here. Ultimately bars are what you make of them. They're more about who you're with than where you are but Jersey's doesn't give you a whole lot to work with. As of 7/8/08 I find it telling that 4 of the 6 good reviews Jersey's has were by reviewers that have no other reviews. Not that I'm accusing anyone of gaming the system here but I can't think of any other way for Jersey's to get a 4 star rating. Well what do you know, maybe I am accusing them. At the very least I'm awfully suspicious. If you're looking for a drink in the neighborhood there are plenty better options with cheaper drinks. Papa Guido's is good for a pitcher. Over on Artesia Bogey's is a much better and more reasonable dive bar. There's the Hermosa scene not too far away. Really, if you find yourself here you should be embarrassed and disappointed. read more

Jerseys Bar and Grill; what can I say? For my personal situation, I would give this place 5 stars. I'm right down the block, so strictly out of convenience, I love this place. I'll try to give a more impartial review though. The drinks are cheap and the food is good. It's pretty divey, but as long as you're here with friends you'll end up having a good time. There are a lot of locals who come here, they all know the bartenders; it's kind of like a "cheers" atmosphere, with the exception of Wednesdays of course. Everyone loves coming here on Wednesdays because of Jersey's famous Wing Wednesdays! $2 for a basket of 5. They are REALLY good too! I like the traditional hot and the lemon pepper. On any other day, like I mentioned, it's a dive bar. They've got a pool table, a couple TV's, electronic darts, and an air hockey table. There is also an outside area in the back not too many people know about, for if you want some fresh air, or some stale air (a smoke). When you feel like a dive, I recommend it. 3 stars! read more

One of my buddies lives just down the street from Jersey's. Invariably, we end up there at least a couple of times every time I come out to visit him. There's a lot to like. Jersey's is a really fun local bar with good food that I would describe as a charming mix of a dive bar, a sports bar.. but with pool table, good music, all the sports packages on Tv's, and also a great patio where you can eat, drink, watch sports, and God forbid have a smoke if the mood strikes you. The staff is friendly, the drinks are stiff and priced well, there are plenty of beers on tap, and the food is well above what you would expect. In the interest of full disclosure I worked here for a little while as a fill in cook, and full time drinker... so I have been on both sides of the counter more nights than I should have. So I can speak to the food... it is very good for bar food.. the fries are fresh cut to order, the meatloaf sliders are home made, the burgers are huge, fresh and awesome, the wings rock and come in tons of flavors.. and if you are not counting calories and just want the ultimate alcohol soaking up indulgence go for the GCB. Some of the stuff like the poppers and cheese sticks are just your typical frozen fare... but if you drink enough and add the house made ranch they become works of art. I was not even going to review this place... but I read some reviews below that said this bar is racist or "locals only" ... and I can tell you from personal experience that is just nonsense. During football season this bar is home to a group of Cleveland Browns fans... a diverse mix of black people, white people, etc, of all ages and from all over the area... many even brought their kids in for the early games after soccer... every single person was treated as a valued customer and with respect. There are also a lot of Raider fans making their presence known (go Raiders) who could be Mexican guys on custom Harley Davidsons or white chicks from down the block... but the vibe is always peaceful and inclusive. The owners are East Coast people... Giants fans for God's sake... and they like something called Hockey...I am a CA native so I don't know what hockey is.. but those games are also on the many TV's and seem to attract folks from all over. I can say that if you are local, visiting, hungry or thirsty.. come on in.. you will be welcome and have a great time. They also have air hockey, darts, pool, juke box, and a huge patio... all I ask is that you don't play Sweet Caroline.. which is sort of a twisted tradition... OK... go for it.... read more

I came to Jersey's for St. Patricks Day. It was cute, they had $10 pitchers of green PBR, Coors Light, or Bud Light. Makala, Makayla? She had her name on a board behind the bar... but Yelp made me waiver on the spelling. ANYWAY! She is a nice bartender, and I felt bad for her having to deal with some of the people hanging out in there. It looked like she was alone, as the kitchen was closed. The bar itself wasn't bad. They were playing Streetlight Manifesto. There was no one there under 25, I'd say... and lots of people were drunkenly singing - nay, screaming along with the music playing. I got lucky since it was late Monday night and parked right out front, but I would imagine its really hard to park here on weekends. Jersey's is a good place to go when you hate the crowds of Hermosa, and Gasser Lounge is too crowded. read more

I love this place - i used to live in the area and went here all of the time now i dont get to go as much as i'd like. it is a dive bar and it can be quiet but is also a lot of fun. the bartenders have a lot of fun with the patrons and are really nice. oh and the drinks are super cheap - always a plus everyone talks about the wednesday night special but they have specials every day of the week. sunday is $1 beer and $1 tacos (the kitchen does close early) but the bartender let me order pizza after it was closed. oh and saturday they have happy hour during the day and thursday is locals night so you have to live in a beach city to benefit but if you do $2.50 drafts. this is probably what tony g was talking about - the bartender probably knew his friend but had never seen him. its almost funny he said they may not want people of his skin color since they have black bartenders, so i really do just think it was that he wasnt a local. overall if you like dive bars i would definitely give this place a chance - cant beat the prices and who doesnt like walking into a place where the people are actually having fun while they work. read more

Spent two nights in a row @ Jersey's last week while visiting Redondo. Delicious meatloaf sliders, GCB quesadilla and a killer plate of cheesy, bacon speckled fries. Quick, courteous and really cute bartenders poured me fresh tasting and crisp Fat Tire brews. Friendly crowd of regulars. Well kept pool table (even though I got my clock cleaned by one of the regulars), air hockey too. Lots of quirky, cool Jersey memorabilia. This place is great. I've been frequenting it for a little over a year now and have never had a bad experience. $2 Wingsday (aka wednesday) is a great time. It does get busy from time to time but if you've been there before you know how to manage it. The food selection is amazing and cheap as well. True it is a dive but if you are looking for somewhere to go to meet nice people and relax this is the place. Very nice people and true it may not be the busiest of places from day to day but the clientel are loyal and it seems every week there are more friends of friends showing up. As for the other people who have given this place a negative review I just dont think they really gave it much of a chance. Yea the parking stinks when it is busy so you may have to park around the block and walk about 100 yards. And I have never once gotten sick off of the food in the year I've been going. read more
