Infringing love this place. It's always super busy, but the staff bust their ass to get your food and drinks delivered in a timely fashion. The food is amazing and they have a lot of choices. I've never had a bad meal and the fried mushrooms and fried banana peppers are the best that I've ever had. It's not a very big place and they don't take reservations, so you may need to wait for a table, although we usually don't have a wait when we go. It's also clean. I highly recommend visiting if you are in the area. read more

Driving back to Carlisle from a day at Ricketts Glen and we were famished. They did not disappoint us! In fact we were very pleased with the food and the service. The J-Town spinach dip was fresh and tasty. We also had the pulled pork sandwich w/ coleslaw and a Reuben sandwich basket. At a little after 9 pm(closing at 10) we were greeted pleasantly and the food didn't taste or appear to have been sitting around for hours. Yum! We will stop in again if we happen to be in the area. Another plus in my opinion is that there was only 1 TV, therefore encouraging conversation. How refreshing is that? read more

Jerseytown Tavern for the win! Took advantage of their wing and fry special tonight, and it was well worth it. Not usually a fan of jumbo wings my family was not disappointed and actually have some left over for lunch tomorrow. The wings held their crispness in the short 15 min drive from Jerseytown back to Danville (while drenched in saucy goodness) Speaking of sauce, (we went with Honey BBQ and Spicy Cajun Ranch) more often than not places under sauce them, not Jerseytown Tavern, it was sauce for days, which make for a great topping for what seems to be the endless amount of fries that come with the special. My other half ordered a grilled chicken salad. The grilled chicken was packaged separately, which you don't see often. This kept the greens cool and crisp. When we moved to the area, this quickly became our go-to restaurant. This is your ideal, local bar with delicious, large-portioned meals. They always have at least 5 local craft beers on draft. All that being said, this is not a fancy place and don't expect anything crazy/unusual on the menu. I highly recommend the prime rib, cheese steak, mac & cheese or fried banana peppers. If you have room for dessert, you will not be disappointed with the peanut butter pie- you may even make special trips for it as we have. Also- Wednesday nights are blue grass from 8-10 so you need a reservation and you need to check that out if possible--an incredible amount of talented individuals show up weekly. read more

I agree with the previous review. We went there for lunch today and arrived at 11:36. There was no one else there, so we were looking forward to getting in and out quickly. As people started to show up we kept waiting and waiting, and watched other people get their food. An hour later half our table had received their meal but the other half was waiting. 30 minutes later we had finally received all of our food. By this time the first half of the table was finished and waiting for the second half. The food was passable, but the service was terrible. The cook does not appear to understand time management at all. I would not recommend this place to anyone who doesn't have at least two hours to wait for your food. read more

Took over 15 minutes just to recieve our drinks. Waitress had no idea what was going on and was very disorganized. We got our appetizer an hour later which was subpar. We received half of our dinners because she forgot our sides completely. The meal was partially incorrect and to top all this off the taste of their food was not great at all. Went for dinner on A Saturday night, the food was great. Paid my bill with a card & left a 20% cash tip. That following week I went to go over my account & found that $7.00 was added onto my card. I did not authorize the $7.00 so I called the establishment 3 different times to speak with the owner & each time I was told he was not in & did not know when he would be in. I left my information with the manager so the owner could call me to straighten this charge out. I got no response. On the 3rd call with the manager I was told that there was nothing more she can do for me. I am very disappointed that they had no interest in refunding my $7.00 & had to take further action. All I simply wanted was a refund for the $7.00, I will not be returning here again. read more

Having grown up in the area, this was always a go to place. The burgers were always raved over, fresh cut fries and epic portions. This is what J-town was known for. When Lawrence owned it, people traveled to get here for food and music. They still have bluegrass nights, not sure how busy it gets nowadays. I live 1 1/2 hours away now and came home to visit. We stopped, and I have to agree with other reviews on here, the service is slooow! 2 of us, a burger, a BLT, fries. Nothing was outstanding. It was ok. Not terrible. My BLT was cold, I assume from waiting for the burger, not really sure. Fries were from frozen and not good at all, also cold. There was 1 other table there but they were finished dining when we walked in. There were also an inordinate number of flies in the dining area (at least a dozen) around our table. I'm not sure if there were doors open in the back or something, but it was definitely off putting. The bathrooms needed cleaned! The new owners did upgrade the outside of the building it looks a lot nicer outside. The inside hasn't changed very much. If this wasn't an iconic spot from my hometown, I wouldn't go back. It's sad to say. I gave 3 stars because it's homey, it's a landmark but I think it's heyday has passed. read more

What an awesome place!! My parents first took me to jersey town tavern when I was 6 years old. I remember the place like it was yesterday. 30 years later I now bring my young kids here. Although several owners have come and gone, it always feels like home here. The food is awesome and always plentyfull. The atmosphere is very inviting and the staff is terrific. Fast friendly service with a smile and always makes you feel welcome. We especially love Wednesday nights for bluegrass music. Local musicians start around 8 pm and never disappoint. This is truly a local gem unspolied by time. I'm so happy my parents didn't mind bringing a 6 year old boy to a "bar" for dinner. Thanks mom and dad. read more

They have the best prime rib and prime rib sandwich. There service is friendly and you feel at home. Unfortunately I took my family there and they were disappointed. The salmon was over cooked and the cheesesteak had cheese on only half the sandwich. I will definitely go back. read more

Went to jersey town for the first time to try their food. It is a little establishment that was kind of warm inside but hey it was July. It took over an hour to get our food and was cold and soggy. Would not recommend and most likely never going back. read more

REVIEW: Yesterday I visited the Jerseytown Tavern for the very first time! (I know right) I live ten miles from this place and have never been there. It was the middle of the day,(Circa 1:30pm) so the place was on idle. This is a perfect time to do a review. Any place is always on its toes during peak hours. So I walked in to this quiet little place nestled in what has to be on of the smallest towns in PA. It was a seat yourself situation so I made my way across the natural wooden floors to my table. This place is EXACTLY what you would expect. It's interior decor is of classic Mom and Pop local bar and restaurant atmosphere. All wooden floors and walls. Basically everything was wood. I could tell there was a lot of history to this place. As I looked through the short menu(Which you know I love) I immediately recognized the waitress. Her name is Darla and she was telling me that she had been there for ten years on and off. Now, I happen to know that Darla has been in her field for over 20 years. She doesn't know I'm doing a review, but I think she was on to me a little. I had high expectations because I know she is one of the best in the area. I ordered a side salad, and the special, which was a breaded haddock sandwich with L.T. and tarter sauce. It came with fries and a pickle for...get this...$6.95! BOOM! Every item on this menu was super affordable. The food took a little longer to come out than normal but based on the speed of life in that area, it was probably right on time.(Not at all a bad thing smile emoticon As a few locals drifted in to get their take out orders, I noticed that Darla would smile and greet them all by name. People have other options in this area but they clearly choose to come here. As my food arrived I was surprised to see the portion of fresh cut fries. It was a triple order at least! I never rave about fries but these things were cooked PERFECTLY. Golden brown. The way I test fresh cut fries is, if the longest fry on your plate can stand straight up without bending, you've got perfect fries. They were full of flavor! The haddock was a good sized piece of fish. It was cooked perfectly. The lettuce was crisp and the tomato was fresh! My lunch was delicious! This place also offers some local quality live bluegrass entertainment acts weekly! Darla went on to tell me that if you want to enjoy their prime rib on the weekends, you better make reservations! She told me that the ribs are huge and full of flavor for about $12-$15! This is a great place to go and hide for lunch or dinner as there is no cell service. (PERFECT) No one on phones, no macbooks... It's that spot you want to find on your country roadtrip. An oasis! OVERALL; For it's category, this place gets a 4 out of 5 stars all around. It's affordable, it's got a great local, familiar feel. The price is extremely affordable on just about any budget. The service is just like home. They seem very excited to welcome any one in even if you're not a local. Not all places are like that trust me. The only con was that it took longer for the food to come out than normal but whatever, if you're at this place, you're in no hurry any way! I recommend this place all day! Cheers! read more

The own and his staff are great! We have known the owner for years and he really made it nice for all ages! We eat there at least twice a month! And yes there is a longer wait than most places, but it's a place to go, to talk, to have a good time. Not to feel rushed and pushed out of the way! Plus good food takes time people!
