I live in just outside of Dearborn, MI where you can get the best of mediterranean foods in the USA, so I know the good from the bad. Jerusalem Bakery Restaurant was great! I ordered the basics of such far for a late night snack: chicken shawarma and a tabouli salad with an extra side of bread. Excellent all. As it turned out I ate the shawarma the next day and it was still grand - just the right amount of pickles, meat, sauce etc. Noteworthy was the bread texture and tastes. I gave two stars for the bakery section. I ordered TO GO falafel and baba ghanoush last night. I have been eating eggplant for decades, all types of eggplant cuisines in USA and around the world including middle east countries. This is the worst baba ghanoush I ever had. I got huge allergy after 3 to 4 morsels of baba ghanoush last night. I had to take Allegra for it asap There is no roasted eggplant flavor. It was super tangy and sour. it was liquid. May be its a stale one they gave. It is a mockery of baba ghanoush. God knows how they have such high rating. For folks who love baba ghanoush, I recommend going to "Aviva by Kamel" that's how it should be. Falafel is nice but very small. Again, if i compare it with the "Mediterranean Bakery" in Tucker, the size of falafel is big for the same price and same taste. Looking at this restaurant and the ambience, I thought let's go back and try all of it. I was craving for a chicken Swarma sammie and decide to trek 20 minutes north to Marrietta. It's located in a strip mall with a gold dome adjacent to I-75. They have a patio and an indoor dining. The style is fast casual and they offer a generic middle eastern cuisine and pizza. They have both lamb and chicken gyro meat and an array of condiments visible from the order counter. I tried their chicken Swarma sandwich special with humus and a fountain beverage for $9.95. It was about a 10 minute wait. Their portions were generous but the price was about double what I usually pay for these sandwiches too. The Sammie was about the size of a regular burrito than a traditional Lebanese Swarma. My humus was a about 5 oz. and I tried a strawberry soda that was pretty good. The thing is everything was all very BLAND...rather tasteless. Definitely not enough garlic nor lemon. Their service was very good, nice and friendly. For what I tried, they offer generic Mediterranean food. I won't be coming back for their sammies. Aladdin's on Roswell is much better and cheaper. Adjacent to the restaurant is their bakery that seems to be a better choice. Jerusalem Bakery is located in the same strip mall complex as Tasty China (Nazareth Plaza) on Franklin Rd. It's on the opposite side of the complex, behind Tasty China, and right next door to "Africa Restaurant." The bakery has expanded over the past year or so and now includes a full-service cafe/deli that serves a variety of Middle Eastern cuisine: appetizers (hummus, baba ghanoush), salads, lentil soup, and sandwiches and shawarmas (Middle Eastern wraps). They even serve pizza. I've come to the cafe for lunch a couple times now and ordered their shawarma combo. You get to choose between chicken or beef. The combo comes with a side (hummus, baba ghanoush, and Tabbouleh salad among others) and a fountain drink for $7.99. The shawarmas are made on the spot and the meat is cut off giant rotating spits. The wraps are quite flavorful and juicy mainly due to the tasty sauce they put inside. The sides are good as well. I like their Tabbouleh, which is minty and tangy. Overall, the items I've tried here are fresh and flavorful. You can dine in or get your meal to go. My coworkers and I stopped by the bakery once and brought sweet treats back for people in the office. You can also order bakery items (e.g. baklava) from the cafe and the employees will go next door to the bakery, grab your order, and serve it to you fresh on a plate with silverware. It was meh. Wasn't as flavorful as other Mediterranean restaurants. The pickled cabbage was flavorless. The onions were also flavorless. They also didn't haven't spicy chicken. Pita was cold and it wasn't warm like at other restaurants. There vegetable area was messy and unkept and just visually unappealing. The falafels were meh as well. I'd never had freshly baked pita bread straight from the oven - until my visit to Jerusalem Bakery. The texture was completely different from the pita I get in the grocery store or even some restaurants. It was really almost indescribable. We had noticed the staff adding puffy-looking breads on one of their shelves, and asked what kind of bread it was - she said it was pita bread, and I was surprised b/c I'd never seen puffy-looking pita bread. She offered for us to try one - and wow, it was heavenly tasting :) And so fresh from the oven we had a hard time tearing off pieces with our fingers :) My friend & I decided to try some of their pastry pockets since it was the only "lunch" type food in the bakery. We got a beef, spinach, & cheese pastry. The beef pastry pocket was good - it was stuffed with a mixture of halal beef, tomatoes, onions & spices ... the taste & texture kinda reminded me of Brunswick stew. I wasn't too crazy about the spinach pastry pocket but my friend liked it a lot. The pastry had spinach, onions, sumac, & lemon juice ... it had a sour taste, and the flavor was very similar to stuffed grape leaves (which I'm not so fond of). I did like the feta cheese pastry but it was a little salty. It had feta cheese, parsley, oregano, & spices. Each pastry was $1.89. We decided to finish our meal with baklava - they have pistachio, walnut, & cream. We got the pistachio b/c our server said it was her favorite. Honestly I'm not an expert on what is good vs. bad baklava - I just know whether it's fresh or not. This was fresh and we liked it :) This place is definitely worth a visit if you love bread. It smells wonderful as soon as you walk in. The only downside is no A/C, and there is a lot of baking going on in the back. Great place to come for pita breads (best ever), bagels (they are not the individual size kind but like 12" diameter size bagels), flat breads, & all kinds of pastries. My friend wanted to look at some homes at Cobb area so we went to check out a few places. By the time we were done, we were so hungry. Given today is a New Year's Eve, many places were closed. He said I should try Jerusalem Bakery especially it has a 4.5 stars on yelp. I said to call ahead to make sure it was opened. He came back and said the place would be opened till 9pm tonight. Great!! Like Ameer's, this is another place of not much ambience. I guess I am beginning to expect places which serve such Mediterranean food not offer much ambience to the patrons. I decided to order the very predictable chicken kabob. The staffs seemed friendly but the wait was long. There were no one at the restaurant waiting for food so I wonder what took the food so long. My friend said perhaps they made the kabobs from scratch. Sure sure!! By this time, I was famished. I kept smelling food but no food for us. After like eons and luckily I had not yet pass out, the food came out for us. I took one kabob skewer and started wolfing down the chicken. I was so hungry, eating while telling my friend "The chicken kabob at Ameer's is better". He said "Really? But the Arabs like this place better." I replied, "But I am not Arab!" He said, "Yeah, the chicken overdone, kind of dry." When we finished our food, we tried to clear the plates. I ended making a mess since there is no open thrash bin to throw the leftover food but the usual trash can with a flap. This caused a bit of mess when I tried to clean the leftover into the thrash before placing the ceramic plate on top of it. This 3 stars solely on the restaurant. This place sucks. From the time that you walk in the service sucks. The cashiers are usually behind the counter just having conversations in their native language. And don't even say that you are ready to order while they are still talking, they will cut their eyes at your so quick...like how dare you interrupt their conversation. The food was dried out and the sauces that should be refrigerated where just sitting in a basket (off ice). I would never go there again. This Jerusalem Bakery location in Marietta, with the other location being in Alpharetta, is simply gorgeous. Both the exterior and interior are impeccably kept up-to-date and are extremely clean and inviting. You walk through the main doorway and can choose to continue straight to ordering fresh food, which includes Middle Eastern fares such as shawarma platters, shawarma wraps, and falafel. There is ample indoor seating to the right of the entrance. In addition there is an exquisite chandelier in the main lobby of the restaurant. With regards to the food itself, definitely a five star experience. The chicken shawarma wrap was absolutely phenomenal, perhaps one of the best I've ever tried. What's great about this location is that in addition to having a restaurant there is a small convenience store to the left hand side of the general entrance. You'll find an assortment of goods, including meats, dairy products, and fresh pita bread. On top of that all, there is a section for Arabic sweets and pastries within the convenience store, made fresh daily. Really love this location and everything they have to offer. read more

This place is the truth! Like I'm not kidding. If you want some authentic Middle Eastern food, come here. One day I had a crazy craving for hummus which I rarely eat and needed some pita bread (the fresh kind) so decided to check Yelp to search for bakeries in my neighborhood. Many of my Yelper friends had visited this place before (the restaurant part) and gave it 5 stars so I assumed since the bakery and restaurant are in one, they'd probably use items from their bakery in their prepared meals. When you come in, you're entering through the restaurant which is designed so beautifully. It's a huge open lobby and seating along the walls. I need the bakery so I ventured over to the left. The pita bread costs about $2.50ish and only cash - there's a $5 min for cards. I didn't have cash and didn't need anything else from the market so I ended up getting another heaping of hummus! My fridge was on hummus overload! I'm so glad I did though cause that hummus is banging! I kept going back for it too cause it's like the ultimate snack food. And since their hummus is so good, I gave the restaurant a try. Ordered the beef shawarma and came back for the same thing the next day. It was that damn good. The combo comes with a side (fries, rice, hummus, tabbouleh salad, baba ganoush) and a drink. Total cost? $10.59. Of course I get the hummus but I have tried the rice and it's flavorful. The pandemic flair is definitely less than favorable. I saw there two head chefs tossing together food, and literally just throwing it customers without so much as a "thank you for coming." I have never had this experience, and I've been going there for nearly 6 yrs. I had a salad with beef because they were out if chicken, and I literally could not CHEW the meat. My always fresh le lentil soup was watery, and lacked taste. If it's one thing I hope they take from this crisis is that my money in a good economy invaluable. My money in a global pandemic is 10 times its normal value, and my food deserves to be prepared as fresh and with as much quality as always. Came by with a friend, and he ordered the mixed shawarma platter (beef and chicken) and I the Jerusalem platter (two chicken kebabs, one kefta kebab). For those in a hurry: the kebabs take much longer to cook than the shawarma...but the wait is worth it. I tried his shwarma plate a bit; it wasn't bad, but both of them were a bit dry though the beef was better than the chicken. In contrast, the chicken kebabs in my platter were absolutely succulent and moist, and the kefta was quite good too. What pushed this rating from 4- to 5-stars was the inclusion of numerous different types of sides, including tabbouleh, tahini salad, hummus, baba ghanoush, vegetables and pickled cabbage, and of course rice. That makes it a really fun and interesting meal, introducing people to all of the restaurant's flavors. So I read the reviews and I was excited to try this restaurant. This location is literally 3 minutes from my house, I've passed this location a hundred times and finally decided to dine here. The customer service was subpar, the food was ok but not sure if I would return. I ordered the lamb, the hummus....let's just talk about it for a second....that hummus was amazing! Possibly the best hummus I've ever had. The location itself is very spacious and there is a market which is pretty cool. If I did return it would definitely be for the hummus and the market. The market had a lot of appealing treats that I had to literally talk myself out of purchasing lol the price for the meal was average price right under $20 for my meal. I like this place but it does have some issues. I went in at a slow time and ate in. They have a large dining area and most tables empty so figured Id be ok re covid eating there. Had it been busier I would have eaten in the car but Ive done enough of that lately and hate food smells in the car. I got the grilled lamb chops $15.99. They have a $14.99 lamb chop plate too but those are I believe fried. Lamb was good, and you get a variety of samples of side dishes around the chops. Two things bother me here though. When I see my food being handled and/or prepared with employees not wearing a mask, or wearing it pulled down around their neck I get angry!!! We have over 300,000 dead and countless infected and to watch them handle your food maskless is totally unacceptable. Photo posted! My other peeve is the grocery store which is in the same building, same business. They fail to price several items, including the stands of impulse items at the entry. I asked a worker the price and she didn't know. She says ask the guy at the register. He has a line. So annoying and just a pet peeve of mine. They have to double check with clients and not just "assume". Placed an order for Jerusalem Super Super and received some chicken with kupideh... Okey, now the food. I have the (mis)fortune of working right down the street off of Delk Road. It is definitely a food waste land and most of our lunch options consist of fast food. How delightful to find a new lunch spot right around the corner! I met my husband here for lunch as he doesn't work far either and eats here for lunch on occasion. I had the felafel and he had the Jerusalem salad. Both were delicious. I particularly loved that the felafel was wrapped in a thin bread rather than thick pita. According to my husband, everything he has had here has been great. After lunch we checked out the market, Halal butcher, and bakery and bought some pistachio baklava. YUM! I am only giving 4* rather than 5* just because it is pretty standard middle eastern lunch cuisine, nothing particularly unique here as far as the options, but the food itself is very good.
