Stopped in here on the weekend. Was able to get a table and food served quickly. Ordered chicken shawarma and chicken gyro plate. Food was sub par to say the least. Gyro meat was dry and lacked flavor. Rice seemed reheated and hummus, meh. Had to ask for pita bread that was supposed to be included with the meal. The tabbouleh was full of water which took away from the flavor. The only good thing o can say about the experience was the baklava for dessert which has recently been made and the lentil soup. I'm not sure why this place had good reviews because I didn't see or feel any of this. I don't know if it is due to CoVid or the weekend but I would skip this place and explore other options. read more

I won't be eating here again. I ordered two meals using Grubhub. I get the orders on a timely manner however the gyro with fries actually ended up being a gyro with fries on the sandwich. Ok, that's interesting. But then the next the gyro plate with extra pita bread... well you don't think to look for old bread, or I should say I don't think to look for old bread. But the bread seemed a little dry, so upon further review. I see spots of mold. Please see attached photos. I'll stay clear from this place. You should too. read more

We ordered a delivery and we were very disappointed. We threw away half of the order. Ordered the Beef/Lamb gyro with tahini sauce. It arrived slathered in tzatziki sauce without tomatoes or onions. There was so much tzatziki that it wilted the hearty romaine lettuce. Disgusting. The mamool was old and stale. Powdered sugar looked reheated and damp. We threw them away. The hummus appetizer arrived without any pita bread in a Styrofoam container that was not very secure. The hummus, a bit watery, had started to leak out of the container. A waste of money and time. Don't order delivery here. At least if you are in-store, you can always send back these items. read more

By far one of my favorite places to eat in Denver! I have been coming here since 2006 when I moved to CO. I've tried many dishes on the menu and have never been disappointed. My go to dishes are the "Super Dish" which is a combination of meats and sides. It is prefect to share for only $13.95 or enjoy for one and have an amazing meal for later at home! This dish has all my favorites. Specialty array of Sheesh Kabob, Chicken Kabob, Sheesh Kifta, Beef & Lamb Gyros, Hummus, Baba Ghanouj, Tabbouleh, Fatouch, Falafel, and Grape Leaves with rice. Also you won't be disappointed if you order any of the appetizers or a pita/gyro plate. Another favorite I just discovered tonight was the Sheesh Ta'ouk - Grilled tender chicken breast in a tomato curry sauce, sautéed with onions, tomatoes, bell peppers, garlic, lemon and traditional spices. It was so yummy and comforting. All the portions here are so generous! I often order family style and share a variety of dishes when dining in groups. Also the seating is limited so def a smaller group of 4 is best. They do have patio seating in the non winter months outside. It is often VERY COLD in the restaurant in the winter months. Keep your coat on while eating. Every time the door opens your whole body gets a chill. Despite the limited warmth in the restaurant, the food will definitely warm you up. Sitting through the chili door opening and closing is totally worth enjoying the most amazing meal. Parking is limited in the lot next to the restaurant but typically score street or neighborhood parking. Before you leave definitely take home some desserts! They are all so yummy! My favorites are the Baklava & Shortbread Butter Cookies (Pistachio/Chocolate) They are only $2.50 each. They are sweet crisp cookies with chocolate filling and coated in crushed pistachios or chocolate sprinkles. The Kinafah is also something to try! It's $4.25 and delicious. Kinafah is shredded filo dough with sweet cheese or milk custard filling, topped with pistachios. read more

We've been to Jerusalem a few times, and it has never disappointed. This time, though, my husband picked up a baklava for me and they gave him four pieces destroyed in a to go box. Pretty disappointing usually the baklava is really good but this time it just looks dry, old and half of baklava that they just threw in a box. What a shame. read more

I've been hearing about this place for at least 5 years and finally managed to make it. It's been pretty hyped up so going in my expectations were already a bit high. We were a little nervous about seating going to dinner on a Friday but we managed to snatch one right away. My wife had the gyro plate and I had the sheesh ta'ouk (recommended by our server). Both were really good but we both agreed mine was the winner. The only complaint is that we didn't love the tabbouleh, which we normally dig at other places. Minor complaint. Had a late night meal at one of my favorite Middle Eastern/Mediterranean restaurants in Denver. Jerusalem's is located across the street from University of Denver off of Evans. It is typically very crowded here at night after 11:00p especially during college season. I religiously get the Super Dish Combination, which is a smorgasbord of meats (chicken, steaks lamb) served over rice with a side of hummus, baba ganoush, and two falafels. They provide you with pita bread, so you can created your own mini pita sandwiches. Squirt some Sriracha on it and bam, deliciousness. Check out my picture for this beast. I usually have enough leftover for lunch the next day or share with my girlfriend. The restaurant does not offer wifi and other usual amenities, but their food more than makes for it. I came here yesterday for a business lunch. This is a super tiny restaurant conveniently located off Evans and I happen to live a few minutes away! I was sorely disappointed by this place. They have a hot, hot HOT location and loads of potential but they're not utilizing it like they should. First impressions: tiny parking lot, tiny restaurant, no big deal. But you go inside and see the ceiling is covered with these dust-ridden cloths. OH and there's been water damage, and you can tell by the water spots in the ceiling. And we are expected to dine beneath this. Hmm okay. We order Turkish coffee. I basically spent $5 on two little water cups from the bathroom filled with stale coffee water. It was disgusting. I ordered the chicken gyro sandwich wrapped in pita. This was actually good. I'm a sucker for tzatziki and it was delicious here. I didn't like that all the meat was ground, smashed into a patty, breaded, and then fried. I was under the impression it was supposed to be rotisserie chicken and what was served was basically a patty. All the veggies were good. Jerusalem has a beautiful dessert display right by the door. I ordered a baklava and the layers were so light and crispy... yeah, the nuts were stale. The nuts were stale. I'll say it again. THE NUTS WERE STALE. We notified our server and she seemed totally surprised. "The desserts are made fresh" she says. Yeah, you can absolutely make desserts fresh with past-expiration ingredients. I've made that mistake myself once. Please verify your ingredients are being properly stored. Your coffee and dessert stash should be thoroughly looked at. And please, please, PLEASE... launder the ceiling curtains. I'm willing to give this place another try. I'm very disappointed because the other reviews on this place seemed so promising. read more

I really love the unique funky set up at this place. We sat outside, and our order was taken and delivered quickly. We ordered the hummus and pita, lamb shanks, meat combination, and baklava for dessert. The hummus was perfectly creamy; I loved it. I just wish the pita were better; it's just the standard type of pita you pick up from your super market shelf. If they were to use a fluffy pita, it would elevate that hummus to a whole other level. My niece enjoyed her lamb shank, which was braised with onions and tomatoes; it was really tender and had a lot of flavor. The meat combination comes with sheesh kabob, kifta kabob, chicken kabob, sheesh kifta, and either gyros or beef shawarma. I forgot to tell them my choice when I ordered and they didn't ask; I ended up with the gyro meat but would've preferred the shawarma. Whatever, live and learn. It was still pretty tasty and a ton of food so worth the price. But plates came with a tasty yellow rice and salad. Once again they didn't ask what salad type we wanted and automatically gave us Fatouch, which was tasty and what I would've chose anyways. We took the Baklava home along with our massive amounts of leftovers. That's a pretty damned good baklava! read more

I have been coming here for maybe 30 or more years. I had hands down the worst service ever today. I ordered the food from the restaurant's website. Spent $46. I went to pick it up and am told it's already been picked up by some door dash driver. Okay well mistakes happen so just remake my order. The guy at the counter said no. I am not going to be responsible for this mistake. He said he would have to pay for the meal if they remade it. I am pretty sure that's illegal and makes me wonder about Jerusalem's labor practices. I said well okay then reimburse me. He refused saying he will not be responsible for this error. He gave me the phone # for his supervisor. I have left her a message. Ordered the chicken shawarma and the combo super dish for delivery. Delivery: 5 stars Delivery was timely. I didn't answer the delivery persons call in time and they placed it in a secure location on the patio. Added special instructions that were followed. Shawarma: 2 stars Shawarma was extremely bland but the chicken was tasty. I ended up having to dip into my spice cabinet and pickle jars. Tasted like a pita chicken wrap with a little smother of hummus, without the extra work on my part. Combination super dish: 1 stars This was supposed to be a bunch of different meats with salad, hummus and pita. Got the salad, hummus which tasted alright. The meat however looked like it was just thrown together with leftovers from other orders. Plenty of gyro meat, but one solitary chicken cube, one solitary morsel of beef, and one tiny half kebab. Plenty of falafel though. Disappointing overall. Total: 2 stars. Don't make a high priced super dish feel like a sampler pack of leftovers from other orders. read more

The food was tasty and the ambience casual. The wait staff were very good - friendly and fast. The meal made one in our party very sick after we left but no one else was sick. They had ordered lamb. The falafel felt a little mealy in my mouth. I am used to the chickpeas being a larger texture grind and this was more like flour. I liked the flavor just not the texture. Working in the persian gulf and having visited many Arab countries, I got to experience lots of great middle eastern food. So I'm always on the lookout for that special taste. Unfortunately, this place was disappointing. The food was simply average. It lacked flavor and originality. I ordered the lamb shank which was ok. I also ordered kibbeh and falafel and they were greasy and and soggy. Our server however, was very friendly, kind and made us feel welcomed. I believe it is important to support local businesses. Now more than ever they need our help. So I will go back and hope for a better experience. Have been coming here for years since I was a child. I'm 28 now and every time I come back home to visit this is a must. My parent moved to Golden after I left for college and the almost 40-minute drive is still worth it. That's how good the food is. We ordered take out with a combination plate and a hummus plate. The portions are huge and you could definitely share. The food is also hearty and so yummy. If you are looking for a fix this is so worth it. This was colder Colorado night so there were people inside. For anyone that has been here even non-Covid times you know, there is not a lot of seating. While I did not measure the tables were super close together. I would not have recommended dining in. Take out during these crazy times. Also, if you have never been here parking can be a nightmare. We visited here last night and the food was the perfect explanation for why there's always a line out the door! We sat outside, it was a bit crowded and the server was by herself for most of the time so she got to us the best she could. But the food was amazing. We ordered chicken kabob, tabbouleh, fries, falafel, and the vegetarian combo platter. It was all so fresh, and we are definitely coming back here!! They're open late which is nice too! This place used to be so good and it's just not anymore. I have been eating in this restaurant for more than 30 years and I've always loved it and supported it while heartedly but I will not be returning again. Quality of food has gone seriously downhill and they can't seem to get an order right no matter how hard they try. Denver has grown a lot and there are a lot of other options for Middle Eastern food. I had such high hopes for this place, then they go and put fries and rice in a shawarmah. Who on Gods green earth does that? its impossible to eat, ruins the shawarmah and they blame it on Uber eats? This is my third visit and the recent being on Friday, June 22nd 2012 with couple of my Singaporean friends, their spouse and S.O. Since my friends are the one who Rave about this establishment and some of them are Newbies to this Establishment, to Jerusalem Restaurant we went. Time was at about 18:00hrs ish when we first arrived to this establishment. We opt to be seated outside, the "extension" aka "The Patio" of this establishment which is at the Left Wing of Jerusalem and at that hour, still this place is a little too "hot" for my personal comfort. Anyhow, these are my sentiments about this establishment. I so wish if they could put portable fans to at least "cool" off this area where we were seated or perhaps I could not recall if they have Fans attached to the ceiling or the wall at least ON IT on the freaking hot weather. Service luke warm. YES I know at that time, this establishment has lots of patrons to entertain or take order, so DO NOTE, Have Plenty Of Time to wait for you to make your first order and for your food to be ready. So these were what I could recall I order that FREAKING HOT AFTERNOON EVENING : * Lamb Shank ($12.50) It took like almost an hour for my food to be ready. I can understand this situation. Luckily I have my friends to catch up with and we talk. Time : 19:10hrs. When my Main Entree of Lamb Shank arrived, YES, the Lamb Shank is HUGE, but once again, the food was a little let down for my personal taste bud. Something was lacking. The Lamb Shank, YES it was tender, fall off from the bones but IT DOES NOT WOW my taste bud. *Sad Face* So during the middle of our dinner, I ask for the Dessert Menu that they have. One of the waitstaff, the lady brought out A HUGE TRAY of Desserts in which half of the them, I could not recall the name of it and which was which. So that made the Dessert Decision much tougher than I could ever opt for. Before the dinner ends, I opt for a TAKE OUT for Hubs and ordered the Combo Super ($10.95) aka Combination "Super Dish". The Combination "Super Dish" comes with Sheesh Kabob, Kifta Kabob, Chicken Kabob, Hummus, Falafel, Baba Ghanouj, Tabbouleh, Fatouch, Gyros and Grape Leaves. Then I also order several desserts for TAKE OUT too, though likewise I mentioned earlier I could not recall which dessert is which etc etc. But from the receipt, these items are printed as : * Kulage ($2.30) * Ladyfinger ($1.79) * Bird's Nest ($1.95) Since we came in a big group of a party of 7, they might have mistook who ordered what for that evening. I was charged with the Hummus 1/2 and 1/2 ($1.50). Yes this is a small amount. But do take note of your receipt and check it thoroughly in case you might be overcharged for the items you ordered etc etc. From their MENU, the Main Entree DOES NOT comes with Hummus and Tabbouleh, HENCE you will be charged additionally for these items. Is this the norm for other Middle Eastern Restaurants in town to charge "additional" cost of Hummus?? Perhaps so to some, perhaps NONE to others. All in all AN-OKAY establishment to dine in. Jerusalem has authentic Middle Eastern cuisine.  And it says so right on the menu.   I am a fan of Middle Eastern food.  I enjoy it.  I enjoy lamb.  I enjoy hummus.  I enjoy pita. I enjoy kabobs and lamb shank.  I enjoy it.  It's different than burgers and fries.   The building that houses Jerusalem restaurant is very small and the parking lot is also small, but the atmosphere inside cancels out these things.  Inside the atmosphere is large.  Sometimes one has to wait for a table, and that is ok, especially if you like standing outside.    It is very near the University of Denver Campus, so one will see a melting pot of people from all over the world huddling outside in the winter cold or summer heat peering into the windows at the delicious foods being delivered to every table.  They wait, with hope, that they will be seated soon so they can order their own combination of Sheesh Kabob , Kifta Kabob , Chicken Kabob and Gyros.   The menu is extensive and the wait staff is nice.  It is worth it to enjoy the cramped conditions and Nustrat Fateh Ali Khan playing softly over the sound system.   Don't forget the Sriracha Rooster Sauce!  You'll be glad you did. read more

Very tasty Middle Eastern standards served quickly in a building with a ton of character. Our group of three shared two combo plates, which allowed sampling a variety. It's impossible to miss the big dessert display as you walk in and equally hard to resist the many choices. Tables are squeezed in about an tightly as possible. In such tight quarters with no real entry area, it's not immediately apparent that you only order at the counter if you're getting to-go, otherwise it's table service, we saw a few parties make that mistake. read more

My husband decided we needed to try the highest rated Mediterranean restaurant on GrubHub because of the esteemed reputation of GrubHub reviewers. 45 minutes and $80 later we were delivered cold, dry chicken and rice with handful of soggy salad on the side. For $20/"entree" I would at least expected to be given hummus or baba ganoujChicken Gyro on the side, maybe even a gratuitous piece of falafel. Nope. You literally just get 16 dry, 1 inch hunks of chicken sprinkled with, what tastes like, McCormick's "Greek" seasoning. (I ordered chicken gyro entree). This is the best middle eastern food in Denver. Big portions and always flavorful. We have never left disappointed. They do serve their drinks in paper cups which is completely fine with me. And they usually have only one person taking orders and serving food so you wont get top notch service, but its hard to give top notch service in a very small place , Especially when people are standing in their way Place is always busy. Not sure why it has such low ratings because it is SO good!! This place always hits the spot whenever I go. There is a parking lot next to the restaurant so parking is accessible. The servers are so kind and sweet, always checking on you. The food just speaks for itself, I mean look at it! I got the combination super dish and for how much you get (it seriously feeds 2 people fully), it is very cheap and worth your money. The meat is savory and juicy and all the sides (hummus, fresh vegetables etc) are very appetizing and are a flavor explosion! This comes with flat bread as well.
