We call and explain the problem with the laptop to the owner, Gilbert. He meets us at the shop, takes the laptop but doesn't pop off the back off for a 10-sec look. He hands my son a form to fill out saying that it would be $65. Luckily we pressed him on what we got for $65. FOR $65 he turns the laptop over pulls the back off (screws already removed BTW) looks at the port. Which needs to be soldered back on. Instead of trying to upsell me or charge me an arm and a leg to fix it, he immediately advised me that it would not be worth my time or money to try to fix it. He suggested it's time for a new laptop. I offered to pay him for the the time he spent on diagnosing it and he refused. Even though the laptop didn't survive, from this point forward, I will be going to Alpha computers exclusively for all my electronics repairs because I know this is an honest professional business that I can trust.
