This is my 2nd time at Jesse's but first review. We discovered it in 2008 as we searched for a decent place to eat in Oxnard. Tacos are great - watch out for the extremely spicy green salsa - so flavorful but when mistaken for tomatillo your mouth will be on fire. Terrible service all three times I've been here which include cold food, meat that looks like it sat for days. Small burritos not enough portions. Jamaica water that tasted like garbage. Dirty tables and everyone that says this place is bomb has never had great burritos or is to cheap to buy a real one. The only people that gave this place good reviews are the drunk paytrons that come into this place late at night from the cheap bars and sleazy dance clubs around downtown oxnard. Because when you're that drunk anything taste like heaven on earth. To top it off my stomach cramped the whole night because of their shitty food. I honestly came here because EL POLLO NORTE wasn't open now they know to make a real burrito. read more

The original. Taco De Mexico is a Ventura County institution. I know people who drive from all over Southern California to downtown Oxnard just for some TDM action. You cannot get a more authentic burrito anywhere, including Mexico. The ingredients are always fresh, cooked to order, and served piping hot in a fresh tortilla the size of a small UFO. My only complaint - I just wish they had a store in San Diego. read more

The walls have a tint to them...it must be the lard that is used to make the best chile relleno burrito I've ever had. And probably why the beans taste so good. TDM is as good as it gets in Ventura when you're looking for tacos and burritos. Personal favorites: al pastor tacos and chile relleno burrito. read more

Great hole-in-the-wall with classic traditional street stand food. Greasy goodness with plenty of meat, rice, and beans. Seasoning is invariably fiery heaven for your mouth with choice of hotness. Start low and work your way up. Try the pickled cucumber to cool the fires then head right back into your mountainous meaty morsels. read more

This place is pretty bomb. I used to live in San Diego and I miss the Mexican food there. It is very hard to find places around here that can compete with how good the Mexican food is down in SD. There's been a few places I've found around here that meet my standards and Jessie's is one of them! The place is pretty small and honestly not the most newest and cleanest looking, but the food is amazing! I had their al pastor and I was in love. Its hard to pick where to eat mexican food in Oxnard, because there's a taco stand at every corner. If i had to pick my favorite, it would be Jesse's. there shredded chicken tacos are amazing, and so is the horchata. All the food here is good, and amazingly priced. read more

As with any quick mexican food place, you need to know when to go to get the fresh food. (and to not get swarmed by drunks coming out of the bars) Watching the hookers work is always a bonus when waiting for my burrito to be made. Taco de Mexico is a destination for many , its a true shrine for taco and burrito lovers! Hands down the carne asada burrito is the best in the county and remember Oxnard is a city that knows its good Mexican food . Also wanted to mention that the 7th street TDM is the original taqueria and Jesses brother owns the TDM located on 5TH st. , the TDM located on Saviers was sold to the founders bookeeper but its still worthy to be a TDM.
