First stop in Gulf Shores...even before checking in to the condo and unloading the car. Drinks in the bar and FRESH RAW OYSTERS on the half shell. Mikee's never disappoints! Krystal took fabulous care of us and attended to our every need. We sat in a quiet corner of the bar area (what do you consider quiet in a busy bar...we could carry on a polite conversation during dinner without having to raise our voices) Drinks are reasonably priced and the alcohol is not skimped on in any way. Oysters were shucked in plain sight and with care. They were larger than those served elsewhere and were flavorful. Served with cocktail sauce, horseradish and lemon. What cracker would not want to be decked out with a Mikee's oyster? The decor has been updated a bit and the parking lot is much improved. Looking forward to our next meal at Mikee's. read more

My husband and I are huge all-you-can-eat crab leg fans, and if a place offers them, we're there, no question. Mikee's seafood absolutely delivered! Between the two of us, we each put away about 9 clusters, and every single one was worth it. The seasoning was spot on; flavorful without overpowering the natural sweetness of the crab. What really stood out was the quality and how easy it was to get full, satisfying pieces of meat out of each cluster (no frustrating digging here!). Everything tasted fresh, well-prepared, and consistent from start to finish. If you're serious about crab legs like we are, this place is definitely one to try. The food was good. Like Fish river grill.... The service was good, the server was HONEST and said "everything is popcorn shrimp" EXCEPT "these dishes", what a gem she was. The "ambiance" was nautical and unique- how Anthony Bourdain LOVED! I took a photo of a real New Orleans "place". The table had: Tabasco, Louisiana Hot sauce (one drop does it!) and Crystal hot sauce....(Boudreaux's in Daphne had ZERO of those.....TRUTH!) We ordered at the pink pony and walked out after an hour!! Another guy was fighting for his hamburger (see pink pony review)!!!! Well, in 24 hours that (1) pic got 1,500 views. This is a place I endorse (even if the White Russian daiquiri was almost pure milk- what we call concrete.)- she did "offer" an extra shot- I was thinking why?. If you want something great near Destin, bring it on. (Aside from a Reuben at McGuires...) I am sick of places like "Louisiana _ _ _ niappe" using our good name to label their cafeteria hospice food!!!! our Family went to eat at Mike's, waited an hour for a table, the food is mediocre at best. Don't expect to get ALL YOU CAN EAT when that's what you order. we waited 30 minutes for the next plate of All you can eat Shrimp and refills on our drinks.... never saw our waiter again until we spoke with the manager at the front. When the waiter did show up he still didn't offer to fix the problem.... just gave us our check. No apologies or anything. If you are going to wait an hour to be seated and not be taken care of.... there are much better restaurants in town! read more

Grilled, blackened or sated. Try it more than one way. Daily fresh fish specials that can be cooked to your liking. Peel and eat specials happen daily. Bushwhacker are creamy and full of alcohol. Very crowded. Tables are almost on top of each other. My chair was pressed to the back of the chair behind me. Service was very, very good but the food didn't quite carry it. I guess a lot of people come for the crab legs but we were after fresh seafood and crab legs are only fresh in Alaska. We started with the raw oysters and let me say these were pretty amazing. Huge and salty and delicious. Wish we had stopped there. I got the stuffed shrimp and what I got was a pile of stuffing with shrimp laid on top under a very bland sauce thickly coated with paprika. Shrimp were nice size but rubbery. My husband ordered catfish and shrimp. These shrimp were very small. Greasy. Not what we expected at all based on the reviews. read more

Found by Yelp- Arrived about 4pm on a Sunday in October. Came in got party of 4 seated. Notice about 4:20 folks started coming in more regularly. But 430 most tables was full of folks. Inside kinda dark and decor well kinda mixed, some beach, some Italian, some music, and some local decor. Now it behind the dollar general that near the purple octopus. Meaning no water view. I take good sea food over a sea view . Child meal, appetizer, side order of fries, all you can eat fried shrimp, all you can eat white fish ( has a $2 up charge for blacken) with waters with out tip was about $72. Seated right away with a server there immediately getting drink orders and food orders after the drinks came. Cozy spot we sat in and quiet- great acoustics. Food was very good. Scallops-plenty of them done perfectly and flavor was very good. Sides of red taters and house salad were great. Cole slaw is its own thing- vinegar based. Fried shrimp very good. Blackened shrimp- good but a little too much blackened flavor. Raw Oysters were good too. Not super sweet but still very large and tender. Reasonable prices. Not too over the top. Sorry, I can't recommend this place. The wait for a table was very long, almost an hour. The restaurant decor was dated and shabby, it was extremely overcrowded and noisy. Our server was Irene. She was a bright spot in an otherwise bad experience. Sweet, cheerful, and efficient. As far as the food goes, The only thing i found tasty were the corn fritters and the hush puppies. They were very good. I ordered the seafood veggie stir fry. It was pretty disgusting. It was drowning in sauce, the vegetables were cooked until they were limp, most of the shrimp were not deveined Plus it had SO MUCH pepper in it. Practically inedible. I picked what i could out of it but hardly ate any of it. I will say, my husband chose the shrimp and grits and really enjoyed them, but we were eating with a friend, and he got the stuffed shrimp which he said was not good at all, either. Two thumbs down. I wish I could give them a negative tonight. We just left there because we could not get table service at 7 pm. We were seated in the dining area to the left up on the riser area at the last table. We received our menus and told someone would be with us but it never happened. We sat there for 15 minutes and I watched them assist the tables down the row and the waitress came to the one right behind us 4 times. I sat there and watched them seat two men after us at the opposite end of the row and a waitress assisted them immediately after I had been there 15 minutes. A gentleman cleaning the tables came to the long table behind us and I asked him if he could get someone to wait on our table and he proceeded to help us. He asked all three waitresses responsible for our section and they all said it was not their table - he said can someone just wait on the table and they acted like it was a problem so we just left. Definitely a local vibe, which makes sense since it's been around since 1957. Definitely go for their seafood! Mikees specialties were fantastic. Mahi Mahi catch of the day sautéed was excellent. Blackened red snapper with shrimp in a seafood sauce was delicious!! Hush puppies were really good as well. It was also one of the only restaurants open after 8pm on a Monday. I wasn't blown away by the catfish or tartar sauce which was disappointing. Not a ton of flavor and a little soggy. However the sides were phenomenal. Everyone was fine eating before she checked if I wanted s reorder on the shrimp. They got my wife's order wrong and she sent it back, and one other in our party was charged incorrectly for his. Of which were 12 kids all under the age of 14... The restaurant did a great job handling that chaos! The Good: the food was good. Some of the adult had all you can eat crabs. They like them. The reorders can out pretty fast. $60 for all you can eat crabs... you're at the beach... it's what happens 19.99 for all you can eat, either catfish, white fish, or shrimp. Is not bad. You can't which types but for $2 you can switch how it's cooked. Fried, blacken.. i.e The bad... small, and crowded. Not real suitable for large groups but all in all the did a good job with it. The place is dark and very crowded - tables are jammed together. Parking lot is unpaved so be prepared for your car mat to get white, chalky dirt in it when you leave. Great oyster place along with an extensive menu of fish and turf items. We went for a dozen of the baked oyster dishes and they were outstanding; I highly recommend. Service was okay, maybe it was the rainy day. Cocktail menu looked okay but I was surprised that Yuengling, a domestic, was a dollar more than the cheap water AB products. Key Lime pie was also good. My dining partner had fried fish & shrimp which were lightly breaded & great. My expectations were blown away when I tried my blackened fish & shrimp-it was devine! Great service from Karyn (recommendations, refilling our reorders, beverages). This gem is off the main road. Lots of parking around the restaurant building. Place was recommended by a friend.. we're no longer friends..lol.. sorry but this is just an honest review here.. waited 1.5 hrs to eat so hoping it was going to be good..wife got gumbo, (which she is from Louisiana knows good gumbo as do I) tasted like canned food, had zero shrimp in her bowl..no flavor and was not even warm.. she didn't even eat more than 3-4 bites. I got the Fried shrimp, the shrimp had a funky almost gamey taste to them and could tell fries and such were cooked in an older oil they were really dark and stale tasting.. no to go boxes needed we didn't even waste time with concerns just paid bill and left got fast food 30 minutes later on way back to condo. I love local owned and small business but it was just really that bad. We had three people with hearing problems. I don't understand why they just couldn't turn it. The music finally got turned down after the fourth time. Now the food.
