I first experienced Jet's Pizza back when I lived in Michigan a few years ago, and ever since I got introduced to the iconic Detroit-style pizza, I've never looked back! It is by far my favorite type of pizza (yes, even surpasses both NY-style and Chicago deep dish) because it's a thicker slice of pizza with a buttery and crunchy crust. The best part of their pizza is the crust. It has the perfect balance of crisp and cheesiness and is absolutely the star of their pizza. The other aspects of the pizza are all just okay. The cheese and bread in particular leave a bit to be desired, but aren't subpar enough to make me disappointed given the price point Most Detroit style places I've gone to have been sit down, higher end takes. I don't think it's fair to compare Jet's to those places on quality since they're playing a different game. In terms of value, I'd say you get more bang for your buck at jets than via. The pizza is fine, it is somewhat generic pizza, but tastes fine. The thing that really irked me is that there is a HUGE surcharge for using a delivery service. I had noticed that it seemed pretty expensive and when we got our order the receipt said we were charged $17 on a $55 order for using UberEats. If this is what they need to do to make using this service economical, then they shouldn't use the service. At the very least, they shouldn't send us the bill that says in addition to the tip and the fees already charged by Uber, they are charging us a 30% surcharge (we probably wouldn't have ordered again because it was so expensive, but at least we wouldn't have been annoyed to have them rub it in our face!). read more

I finally had the chance to try Jets during a business trip to Austin. Having never been inside the establishment before, I initially decided to place a carryout order. However, when I walked in to pick it up, I changed my mind and decided to sit down and enjoy my meal like a human being instead of a hungry animal at a buffet. It was around 12:30 p.m. when I handed my money to the efficient, polite, and patient pizza employee. I chose a seat by the window, which offered a nice view of the parking lot. It was a sunny day on a busy street, so there were plenty of people passing by to keep me entertained. I ordered the 4 Square Detroit pizza with light sauce, feta cheese (which I absolutely love on pizza), mushrooms, Ramano cheese crust with light pizza sauce and both black and green olives. The pizza was ready hot and just as they had predicted. When it arrived, it was hot and bubbly, and the crust was the best part. On a scale of 1 to 100, I would rate the crust a 90. It reminded me of the Sicilian pizza slices I used to order in Staten Island and Brooklyn during my teenage years. I have always enjoyed crusts that are a blend of crusty, chewy, soft, and crunchy--it almost defies the laws of physics. I loved how the olives paired with the feta cheese. However, I plan to make some adjustments next time to enhance my experience even further.The only thing that I didn't care too much for was the saltiness of the olives and the feta mixed with the Ramano cheese crust. So if I am ever going to treat myself to another Jet's visit I will still get feta but perhaps I will get the pizza on regular dough not the Ramano dough and have light amount of the olives or possibly leave of the green olives and get more mushrooms instead. I also think that it would have been tastier with the regular amount of pizza sauce, but I was afraid to order it that way as some places will serve a soggy dough due to the amount of sauce and toopings. As far as the price it was a bit higher than what I would normally pay for one person to eat lunch as it was just under $20. When I added the red gateraid and tipped I think it brought the order to $25. However, in Austin its a big more expensive then in San Antonio.The bathroom is also clean and there is ample parking there as well. read more

Most satisfying pizza I've had in a long while. Maybe ever. I decided to try this spot after seeing an ad in the paper. I know, how old fashioned. I had pretty mid expectations but seeing the Yelp reviews helped persuade me. Here's what you gotta do: get a 4 or 8 corner pineapple and pepperoni "well done". Perfect crispy crust with a soft interior. Cheesy, sweet and savory and just the right amount of oil. I was super surprised how much I enjoyed it, especially being someone who typically seeks out upscale Neapolitan style. I lived in Columbus Ohio for 10 years and Jets has always been a Midwest pizza chain I really enjoyed. Very very happy that Jet's is available in central Austin and I had to pick up my all time favorite, the supreme. I love the thick, crispy, buttery crust and the marinara sauce is sweet, tangy, with a good strong robust tomato flavor. Much better than your typical pizza chain. All the ingredients are fresh on the supreme and it was topped to the very very end, high quality, meats and vegetables. You have to get a side of ranch and dip it into the pizza, whoa Umami Umami! A pizza for less than $20, it's not cheap compared to other main stream pizza businesses but it's well worth the flavor and taste. It's happy food and it makes you feel happy inside. read more

Been wanting to try this place forever and upon arriving at a different Jets they didn't offer dine it, but luckily this one was close enough....and they definitely killed with there food...of course dining in mean a bit of a wait but those pizzas were fresh and hot. I wouldn't go with anything else except the 4/8 corner pies as that crispy cheesy edges set it off. The crust itself out of the oven is pillowy and delicious.Even cold the next day that crust/edges were the bomb. Jet's Pizza is located where Rockin' Tomato used to be located. They have the best gluten-free Michigan style pan-fried pizza in town! I thought Desano's had the best gluten-free pizza until I tried Jet's. The crust was really crispy, which I loved. I can't eat mozzarella, but I can eat cheddar because it's low lactose. I love that Jet's was able to use only cheddar on my pizza. I just wished they had a location closer to North Austin. I highly recommend Jet's! read more

Don't get it twisted, I love a normal hand-tossed or new york slice, but you have to be kidding yourself to say any other style tops detroit. Since there's another detroit style pizza spot in Austin that's more established here, it's only fair to compare, and I still think Via 313 is better. I generally prefer more toppings/sauce over crust, so NY style thin crust is still my favorite. I enjoy Via 313 more because I think it has more emphasis on cheese/toppings when compared to Jet's, which seems to put more emphasis on the dough/crust. The pizza was very tasty, and the bread was crispy, but I'm just not a bread person. Still, it's a pizza chain so its quality is really quite good for a pizza chain, but definitely not as cheap as the usual Domino's chains. Overall, worth trying if you enjoy Detroit-style pizzas. read more

I really like Detroit Style pizza as someone who really enjoys crust and the specimens that come out of Jet's ovens are bronzed on the bottom just the way a good pie should be and not too greasy somehow at the same time (how is it possible that it's heavy but not greasy...?). Toppings are quality and flavorful and don't sog up the pizza. Can't go wrong with a classic pepperoni pie and the chicken bacon ranch is delicious too. Two squares is definitely going to push you into food coma territory, but I think we all were signing up for that on the way in. I LOVE the taste of this pissa (that letter doesn't work, Lol) but there is just SOMEthing missing regarding the crust. But first, the staff are always polite and friendly. One guy even called me when I accidentally ordered the wrong type of pissa online; he recognised me a regular who orders a specific pissa so he called to ask if that was, in fact, what I meant to order and it was a good thing he called because I had made a mistake when I ordered it. Thank you. I usually order the New York style Super Special which has a decent amount of toppings and flavorful sauce. But the middle of the pissa is extremely thin and is ALWAYS soggy. ALWAYS. And the outer edges of the crust is tough and stale. I normally can eat only two slices so I put the rest in a container and heat it up later. But the middle is just too soggy - you can't even fold it like a regular "New York style" pissa, actually, not even when it is fresh. I have tried the other popular Detroit Style pizza place in town and was never wowed by it, but this pizza is on a whole other level. We love getting our Detroit style pizza "turbo" style which has a garlicky parm brushed on the crust. I also am ADDICTED to their garlic butter dip, it is a game changer! If you love garlic, this will be your go to! You can order through text which is super convenient and they always have the pizza ready by the pickup time.
