I don't know why more places don't serve roasted turkey the way jetties does. They bake the turkeys in house and then slice them right in front of you. I personally love the nobadeer, which is practically a thanksgiving sandwich. It's not light but it's worth it. Their salads are also decent but I typically stick with the sandwiches. My mom loves the altar rock salad but substitutes balsamic dressing for the ranch (she complains that the balsamic is a bit thick for her but she seems to still like it enough to continuously order it). read more

Very solid lunch place with tons of outdoor seating! The service for this order and go restaurant is fast and friendly. I'm a sucker for anything thanksgiving themed so I get the Nobadeer every time. Literally, the best sandwiches I've ever had, hands down. The ingredients are VERY fresh, and the portions are huge! I haven't tasted their salads yet, but I sure will one of these days. So far, I've had a "create your own" which was fantastic (kinda like a turkey club with avocado on toasted sourdough), and their current monthly special, "The Sunmerhouse" with turkey added, has yellow heirloom tomatoes, sprouts, pepper jack cheese, avocado, and basil mayo on toasted multi-grain. My friend introduced me to Jetties- I never knew it was even there since I don't venture out much to Foxhall. It's a nice space with some seats outside. For some reason, my order took forever so my friend was almost done with his sandwich by the time I got my sandwich- Quidnet (Mortadella, salami, shaved ham, provolone toasted on a sub roll with lettuce, tomato, sweet peppers, thin red onions and red wine oregano vinaigrette). I don't get sandwiches often, but this is definitely one of the better sandwich places. For me, a sandwich has to have the right mix of protein, vegetables and sauce, and Quidnet did that well. There are multiple Jetties around DC, but most are in more residential neighborhoods, so it's not one that is conveniently accessible; otherwise, I'd def come by for lunch during work. read more

The Noobadeer is one of my favorite sandwiches of all time. It starts with turkey, cranberry sauce, and stuffing and you can add on whatever you want from there. Delicious made-to-order sandwiches is no novelty, but Jetties uses superior ingredients and doesn't hold back on the extras. "You want avocado? BAM here's 5. You want bacon? Boom, here's a pig." Sandwiches are delicious. My problem is with the delivery option. I like my sandwich toasted as I'm sure many others do. Unfortunately you cannot make that request on DoorDash because jetties has that disabled. When you call to ask them to toast they do not answer the phone-ever. Had the turkey sandwich. It was tasty and had some cranberry sauce and stuffing that seemed soaked in butter on top of the turkey on very fresh sour dough bread. The location was cramped with lots of diners and very noisy. I took my food and ate outside in the heat. It would be nice to sit out at their picnic tables in cooler weather. It was painfully hot outside when I was there. My main impression of the place is that it is very expensive for sandwiches like the one I got...especially since you have to stand in line and order. The drinks and chips are pricey and not included. If the prices were cheaper I would be a fan and rate 4 star. I rate 3 star considering that it is really a casual grab a sandwich place that charges too much. I would only return during nice weather to enjoy eating outside. I rarely find myself up in this area of DC. So yesterday, as I was heading towards my original destination, I was happy to spy Jetties on my way. On the way back, I knew we would be stopping off for a sandwich! My wife had the Tom Nevers (turkey, ham, bacon, lettuce, tomato triple-decker sandwich) and I went with the Dionis (lobster roll). You don't see lobster rolls all too often on local menus.... so I had to go with that. I wasn't crazy about the $19 price tag.... but when in Rome, right? Both sandwiches were very good. You could tell that this wasn't some "sandwich architect" slapping pre-sliced lunch meat on plain white toast. This was fresh carved meat, layered on top of great bread. Bread really is, in my opinion, the most important part of a great sandwich, and Jetties nailed that. Another highlight was the ambience. An informal array of picnic tables out front was the perfect setting to enjoy these sandwiches. Children played, adults talked, people walked by, and dogs begged for a scrap of tasty meat. I could definitely see why this place could become a hang out. There looked to be quite a few regulars. There was indoor seating, but it was cramped and noisy. Sandwich orders were called out, and it was not nearly as pleasant as the outdoors. As I said, I rarely get up this way. But if I return on a nice day, I would definitely stop by here again. The only downside is that there isn't a parking lot, but you can get lucky with street parking. Choose from a nice variety of sandwiches or create your own. Well this is just awesome. I'd heard a lot of good things about Jetties. I had only passed by it a couple times, and I'd never bothered to check it out till today. Now I'm definitely going to come back. Jetties is located in a suburban neighborhood, Foxhall. It's near good old high-priced Georgetown. Judging by the looks of the houses, this is where Georgetowners move to when they grow old and have kids. I don't blame them. But I digress. The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice. It evoked memories of the beach. The place itself is run cafeteria-style... you grab a piece of paper with a list of specialty sandwiches and ingredients for make-your-owns, mark what you want, grab a drink and some chips if you want and pay. The sandwichsmiths expertly craft your food with speed and unrivaled skill. I got the nobadeer. This is like a party in my mouth, and EVERYBODY is invited. It's very simple: between two soft slices of sourdough, you get delicious cuts of turkey. The turkey is bordered on one side by warm stuffing and on the other by sweet cranberry sauce. This is available year-round. It's FAR better than the similar sandwich served at Cosi around thanksgiving. My only tweak would be to have them use more cranberry sauce than stuffing... thankfully, you can specify "special instructions" on your order sheet so just say you want them to be easy on the stuffing and liberal on the sauce. Or vice versa if you prefer salty over sweet. Jetties completely met my expectations and I will definitely be coming back. This is more like a 4.8 star review though. The price of the food can be a bit high, but then again considering the area it's in the prices aren't that surprising. If you haven't been, GO. Somehow, Jetties has really little Yelp cred and I can't say I understand why. I've been to three Jetties locations so far - this one, the Jetties Express in Cathedral Heights, and the one in Chevy Chase. They each serve an assortment of tasty sandwiches around the $9 - $10 range and I've enjoyed the one that I've tried. It's a little bit expensive for the amount of food that you get, but it's still a great place for a casual bite and hits the spot every time. My go-to sandwich and favorite is the Baxter Road, which is a hot open-faced turkey sandwich with gravy smothered on top of it, paired with a side of roasted carrots and stuffing. The turkey is fresh-carved, not deli meat, and when paired with the carrots and stuffing honestly resembles a full meal. The only thing is that you have to eat it quickly and you can't really take the sandwich to go, because it will head straight downhill the longer the sandwich sits in the gravy. But I've crushed the whole platter every time I've ordered it because it's that good. Other favorites of mine include the Surfside, a cold sandwich which features the same turkey with avocado, bacon, havarti cheese, and mustard packed onto sourdough, and the Monomoy, which is an oven-toasted roast beef sandwich that comes with a side of au jus to dunk the sandwich in. There seems to be a lot of people hating on Jetties for going temporarily cashless, which would be a problem if you have completely avoided the credit / debit card game. Quite possibly the best sandwiches available in a quick serve place. It's primarily a lunch place, so don't expect them to be open for dinner.. Everything here tastes very fresh and homemade. The turkey breast is roasted and carved (still hot) right in front of you as they make your sandwich. It is juicy and tender. Wow. The whole grain mustard is very very strong. Jetties! I used to drive by this place every weekend on the way up to work (yes, work on the weekends. sucky.), and marvel at how many people were willing to wait for what seemed like a strangely-located sandwich place. After driving by it for over a year, my bf and i finally decided to try it. I got the surfside (turkey, harvati, bacon, avocado) the first time I went, which was delicious, and the dreamland yesterday (turkey, arugula, fig spread, and brie)--both were delicious! The surfside is what I would think is more of "my type of sandwich"--i adore anything with avocado in it, though I'm not a huge fan of bacon (sorry, I know I just offended a lot of people!). The hand-carved turkey was amazing, though. Despite the fact that I'm a total avocado fanatic, and usually not a fan of figs, I think I might actually like the dreamlander better! The turkey was still amazing, really fresh arugula, the fig spread was sweet and rich, and the brie...wow. what a great combo. I had a bite of my bf's nobadeer--delicious, but a little too similar to the after-thanksgiving-leftover-turkey-sandwiches that i make every year for me to think it's anything special. The one thing about Jetties? I'm not a fan of their soups. The chili I got the first time was nothing to write home about; the new england chowder I got this time was so salty, I left 3/4 of my cup uneaten (don't tell my parents, please T___T) I've tried some of the chicken tortilla (my boyfriend got it both times), but it tasted creamier the second time--I'm not sure how consistent the soups are from day to day, but I've liked the chicken tortilla better than the other soup both times we've gone to Jetties. AMAZING SANDWICHES! I have tried 3 different sandwiches here and they have all been so delicious and enormous! The freshly carved turkey is definitely a must have and is always cooked just right. Every sandwich is inventive with a strong bias toward the classics, structurally sound, and dynamically balanced in flavor. Let's get specific: my go-to is the Tom Nevers. Plenty of meat, fresh lettuce, and a layer of bacon crumbles that competes perfectly with the rest of the sandwich. Not a couple of strips I'm trying to stretch into each bite, or some overpowering, thick-cut, smoked deal - it's just right. You can also put together your own sandwich, but do yourself a favor and trust the menu here. Fresh roasted Roast Beef and Turkey breast for their offerings. My husband's roast beef was still warm! All food was made to order. My Surfside (turkey breast, bacon, avocado spread , havarti w/ whole grain mustard) was DELISH. So fresh and such a good combination of flavors. Fountain drinks, along with lemonade & iced tea available with free refills available. The chocolate cupcake was good --the cake had a good texture & taste and the buttercream frosting was a perfect match. It was pleasing to the eye, as well. I was totally bummed after eating Jettie's staple vegetarian sandwich not only b/c I ordered the completely meat free sandwich BEFORE my friend told me that Jettie's is known for their meat sandwiches, but also b/c my sandwich was not so good. It lacked flavor, there wasn't anything that really excited me about the sandwich not even the portobello mushrooms (that I so love to eat). If it's just ok, why do I keep coming back? When you're in need of lunch in a secluded place in Georgetown, options are limited. Their sandwiches are always STACKED with meat, so you get a decent amount for the price. That said, they are actually way to big for me, and I'm not a fan of thick-sliced deli meat. I usually stick with their salads... The salads are creative but not as off-the-wall as nearby SweetGreen. Washing Pond is a great one, and quite sweet. The other great one is the Soutwestern-style salad, which the name escapes me. The feta cheese is sprinkles, so beware: it's gross. Also weird is the salad with mozzarella--it's whole mozz. balls. Soup is pretty good, and so are the cupcakes and cookies. TIP: they serve lemoade and iced tea, so it's mandatory that I get an Arnold Palmer every time. TIP: It's also a great place to people-watch the rich Georgetown moms or nannies interact with their young children at lunchtime. read more

My wife has always talk to me about this place that a friend of her takes her when they are around Georgetown, and she insisted that I have to go there. Well, this weekend we were around the area and I decide to check this place. The outdoor seating is what even the smallest European tavern knows as a restaurant garden, something that has real grass and gravel and some distance to the traffic and parked cars, with wooden benches and umbrellas.
