No frills salon that didn't have me wash or soak my hands prior to the start of my service, but not sure if that's the norm or if they were rushing at the end of the day. I'm quite prone to bleeding with cuticle removal and that was no different at this salon. My cuticles were cut a little too far back on two nails and I did bleed, but overall I'm thoroughly impressed by how long I've had this no chip. Nothing lasts more than 1-1.5 weeks on my nails (no chip, dip powder, gelX), but I'm going on almost 3 weeks with these nails. Prices were reasonable for west loop so I will be back. read more

I decided to treat myself to a birthday mani pedi after hearing great things about Jewel from some of my neighbors. I was not disappointed! The salon is super clean and I love all the floral and pink decor. I was even offered a drink. My pedicure was done with care and I received a great massage and paraffin treatment. My manicure looks great too. Great care was taken to shape and file my nails to my liking and my cuticles are so much better! I really appreciate the attention to detail. I've gone here 3 times in the past year -- 1 pedicure and 2 dip manicures-- and sadly won't be returning. The pedicure was painful I actually had one spot near my toe cuticle bleed and scab over. The dip manicures looked great (although one of my technicians was rough on my fingers) however they don't last long?? Everywhere else I've gone, dip manicures last 3+ weeks or until I take them off. Both of my dip manicures here have started coming up near the base after a week, to week and a half. I just got my nails done last week and tonight my whole dip nail popped off?? For $70 (including standard tip) I would expect this not to happen! read more

I got Gel-X and they made me put my hands in the LED lights 5 times in a row per hand. I was concerned about safety of my hands but they did not care. On top of that, my nails started falling off within 4 days and these are supposed to last weeks. I would not recommend. read more

Manicure- I came here with absolutely terrible nails after having 3 months of acrylics on! Thin, brittle, and bruised up nails walking in, but the woman I had took her time to really clean them up and got all the acrylic off that I wasn't able to. She turned them from a mess into beautiful, healthy looking nails. Plus, she even fixed my dry grown out cuticles. I love how the put collagen gloves on your hands during the whole process as well. Pedicure- Had a young gentleman do the massage and pre-painting things. He seemed very new to everything because he really took his time to make sure my nails were cut straight and during the scrub he really got in there haha. After, a young woman painted my toes and did a great job. I left feeling ready to wear some flip flops (even though it's still 30° outside). Toes painted well, calluses gone, soft and moisturized legs and feet. I used to go here maybe a year ago and have no clue why I stopped. I go here every 2 weeks- went yesterday for a no chip extension and they put them on sideways? Another girl came and fixed it but I sat there for 2 hours. When I got home my nails were so sticky and peeling off. After asking for a refund they acted like it was my fault- told me that the service was already completed and that to come back and they'll just fix it. They didn't know how to even issue a refund on my card. As a business you should know how to do this... they ended up quick paying me my money back after arguing on the phone and told me to not come back again. Horrible customer service in my opinion. Overall, I was treated with an overtly hostile experience by one of the staff members. Times are tough, but the doesn't justify verbally attacking your customers. After my pedicure was already done, and halfway through my manicure, the gentleman working on my nails told me that their credit card reader is broken and asked if I can pay with Zelle or Venmo. I notified him that I don't keep any cash, and asked why he didn't notify me of the broken credit card machine before I received any service. He kept repeating that the machine was broken, then started getting angry and raising his voice with me. I told him that I will pay him as soon as the credit card machine is working. He kept going on saying things like "can you ask a friend to help you" "okay so you don't want to pay" "no it's fine you don't have to pay, you don't want to pay" "so when you're at a place that does not accept credit cards, you just don't pay?" I had to keep reminding him that if he had told me about the credit card machine ahead of time, I would have just gone somewhere else to get my nails done knowing that I didn't have cash available. He was incredibly rude after that point, storming off, slamming doors, and being snippy with me in front of another customer when she walked in. read more

I came in here on a Sunday AM and, in defense of the establishment, I didn't have an appointment. They agreed to take me for a regular manicure, despite being semi busy, which was very nice of them but I think I would've preferred if they had just said no. This was not a good manicure. 20m, my cuticles were barely touched, I left with visible hang nails and raggedy skin. I had to run down the block to pick up my dog, otherwise I would've spoken up. I paid $5 extra for this polish they said was 'quick drying' and 'will last chip free for at least a week.' I had chips the next day despite doing basically nothing but lounge around. I really think this mostly speaks to the rushing but- just say no, you don't have time, then! I'm so frustrated that I spent $28 on a manicure that barely lasted 16 hours. I'm at 5 days now and my nails are actually embarrassing. I just wish they wouldn't have tried to squeeze me in. Speak up! We all would've been happier! read more

At one point, the lady doing my nails stopped and walked away and had someone else take over because she didn't know how to do it! I have rather specific demands when it comes to selecting where I'm going to get my nails done, and Jewel not only passes the test, but sets a new standard. Reasons I love Jewel: 1. Matching gel and regular OPI polish colors 2. Newest OPI gel colors and matching, when applicable (yes, I care) 3. Great pedicure massage chairs 4. Consistency- It doesn't matter who I get as a technician, they're all great 5. Friends on repeat 6. Walk ins welcome/not scolded (but try to call ahead, obviously) 7. Rewards program where you get discounts after visiting a certain number of times (and they look it up by phone number, so you don't even need to bring a stupid rewards card AND it's actually attainable) 8. Always ask if you want a shoulder massage after your manicure 9. No chip lasts up to 3 weeks 10. Location is convenient As much as getting your nails done can feel like a bit of a chore, in reality it's a luxury and something that really should be enjoyed. There are 5 spa pedicure chairs and 6 manicure stations. They ofcourse offer no chip/gel manicure with the collagen glove treatment which I love. For spa pedicures, they also offer 3 different types of scrubs: Lavendar, Tropic citrus, and Lemon. A basic pedicure and no chip manicure runs $65. For an upgrade for a Spa Pedicure and no chip manicure is $85. There is an excellent selection of colors including brands like OPI and Essie. Staff is super nice!! After waitiig 3 days for the call back (which I had called a couple of times because I hadn't heard back), I was denied service because I asked to be compensated for the poor customer service I'd been provided.
