Jewelry repair is good only if you can tolerate their ridiculous sense of self importance. The people behind the counter are rude, condescending and arrogant. Walked out with a "ICKY" feeling. We had work done on my wife's wedding ring and they recommended a white gold setting as a replacement (we initially thought we would do a re-tipping of the prongs). It took just around a week, but the repairs were done and they were right - the white gold setting really makes the diamond shine. Really great work and very fast. I came here after my wife's wedding ring had been cut. I had no clue where to look for a reputable jewelry repair shop but decided to give JewelSmiths a call simply based on the location. The worker on the phone was courteous and seemed to eager to help out, ensuring no appointment was necessary. I brought the ring by a few days later with no appointment and was helped right away! The staff were very professional and friendly. They took a look at the ring and gave me a price estimate. There was no "suggesting" I do "this, that, and the other" in an effort to get money from me and not look elsewhere. Got a new, inexpensive watch from Amazon and needed to get the band adjusted. They are located almost next door to the Safeway Store at Crow Canyon Rd & San Ramon Valley Blvd. Parking is easy and plentiful. What I liked was the warm hospitality of the staff. They took 3 links out of the band for and the charge was $20. They did it in a matter of a few minutes and during that time, I had a very nice chat with the lady behind the counter. This is a long over due review! My fiancé knew that I wanted a custom piece for my engagement ring. I didn't want just a standard diamond ring that other brides will have. I had a gold wedding band that belonged to my grandmother and a yellow, 3.55 carat loose topaz stone that my grandfather bought. My grandpa bought the hand cut stone in Turkey during his time in the Coast Guard 60 years ago. Of course I went to Jewelsmiths because we have been a customer of theirs for years. My mom has had her wedding ring repaired there as well as other pieces of jewelry. I wouldn't have entrusted my antique ring with anyone else! Seeing it in person was beyond my dream! Do not go to JewelSmiths! Not only do they do a poor job, they lack integrity. I bought a new wedding band with diamonds to replace my old one. I took it to JewelSmiths to be resized. They tried to to include sales tax on the bill for the sizing (from the Sales Tax Handbook: "California does not generally collect sales tax on services...repair services are not generally considered taxable."). They should know this, as it applies to their business. But that was not the worst of it. After one month, I noticed that the ring had cracked in the middle of the back (presumably where it was sized) and one diamond at either end of the row of diamonds was missing. So the sizing work they had done was faulty and gave out in about 30 days. The ring then elongated putting pressure on the prongs, and dislodging the two diamonds. When I brought it back to the shop they hemmed and hawed and indicated that I may have abused the ring (I did not), and that I would need to come back and speak with the manager. They would not take responsibility nor offer reimbursement. I left feeling that it was my fault, not their poor workmanship. I will never go back to JewelSmiths, and I'd advise caution to anyone who does. read more

LOVE this jeweler! They are so friendly, accommodating and pleasant to do business with. My aunt told me she gets all her jewelry work done here so I tried it . . . . I too, had a platinum ring from Costco with diamonds set in the band. It was way too big, and I was hesitant to size it any where and leave it over night. Scares the crap out of me! :) But I called the San Ramon location and they were booked (the jewelsmith had just returned from vacation), so they referred me to their Pleasant Hill location. They were able to size it in under an hour while I waited. So fab!!!!! It doesn't stop there. I realized that I still needed it to be sized yet again. I'm always cold, so the ring just never seemed to fit. :( I went back in, and at no charge they resized it at the PH location, then delivered it to the SR location . . . . . . NO CHARGE! How great?!!! ;) I live in SR, so it was more convenient to pick up there, but originally got it size din PH, so I wanted to go back to the original spot. They were so nice to even offer that! This is a 1st class shop. I had two gold wedding bands that needed to be resized from 6.5 to 7.5 and they did a great job at a very reasonable price. When I received my rings back they fit perfectly and where as shinny and beautiful as they were when they were put on my finger 25 years ago. I brought my rings in to be resized on a Saturday and they were all done on the following Wednesday. I could not be happier. read more

We have used Jewelsmith for years now since we moved to San Ramon about 7 years now. They have always been prompt and professional in meeting our Jewelry needs. They have kept my wife's wedding ring and anniversary ring in top condition and made recommendations when necessary. She had new earing posts set and the diamond jackets attached to the earings. I had my college ring resized and it looks perfect and now I get more wear out of it instead of just sitting. My wife also had my wedding ring restyled, originally platinum and a 1/2 carat diamond, now has 18 kt yellow gold holding the diamond in. The contrast of the platinum and the gold really makes the Diamond POP. I have a new ring. I have spent many, many years going to the Jewelry Mart in the city, when called upon to deliver. We were excited to find a place that offered unique custom designed rings. We even made an appointment to discuss a custom design for both my band and my Fiance's band. We agreed to move forward and he (name purposely withheld) said he'd email us so we could move forward. We waited and waited some more. After a month no follow-up. So we send an email to the store and someone replies that he'll look into it. It's been a week?!? This is not the kind of customer service we were expecting and, quite frankly, surprised! Taken me a while to get the nerve to write this review but I'm hoping this will allow others to speak up and also perhaps stop other long term customers from continuing to be taken advantage of. The last project was an anniversary ring which on the surface was pretty, however the craftsmanship was subpar and when I asked for the flaws to be addressed was basically told I was being too picky. And to add insult to injury was given back the "repaired" ring in worse condition than I left it. I was a long standing customer and those that know me well, know I don't use review sites like Yelp unless I really feel strongly about being treated extremely unfairly. After the battery died in my inexpensive Timex, I found to my great chagrin that I could not remove the back of the watch to replace the battery, as I have done with all my other watches. I started searching for someplace in the Danville/San Ramon area to get my battery replaced. I checked out several websites that didn't impress me, look at some other places that got bad Yelp reviews, then I came across the JewelSmiths website, which won me over, especially with the following quote: "Do you just do fine jewelry services and or design? No, we gladly do a $5.00 service as well as a $10000.00 design. We would not be worth our mettle if all we catered to was expensive jewelry designing. Our customers are varied - to a person that needs a watch battery, a slight adjustment on a bracelet or earring, or a special diamond engagement ring design. I was told many years ago that customers build their trust in you by how you can handle the little things first. I would like to say that we are a great example of the statement.of one on one customer service." So in to JewelSmiths I went. They were very friendly, spent about 15 minutes working on my watch and determined that the electronics had gone bad besides just the battery, so they reassembled my watch and charged me nothing for my time.
