Pretty nice nail salon. I always get gel manicure and pedicure but the manicure tends to peel or chip pretty quickly. I'm gonna have to find a new salon soon because it's just a waste of money if it's not gonna last more than a week. They also don't seem to be good at making and keeping appointments so you might as well just walk in. read more

When I was younger the service was a lot different and better , now They honestly had more attitudes, went to this one lady and one of my toe nails were longer than the other and I pointed it out, she got an attitude and start being extra rough with my feet . Kept wiping a dry paper towel on my foot no water or nothing then I was bleeding and she kept rubbing it with the dry paper towel . I've been going to this nail salon for about a year and I've never been let down. The nail techs (almost all) are super kind and approachable. Whenever I come in i dont really mind who gets to do my nails. I've always came out with really nice sets. I usually get acrylic with polish and in my opinion it's way worth getting regular polish than gel on acrylics. Why? I've tried gel once and the only difference was the amount of layers and a special uv lamp. Just recently I got the usual, regular polish on acrylics, but this time I asked for gems on my accents. Can't say I'd get them again but maybe I'll try with the nail techs who are said to be more experienced in nail designs (Ken). Overall I'm pretty satisfied with my set. read more

This nails salon was nice inside and clean but the worse job ever! They're over priced and they have cheap product and it doesn't last. I usually go to city nails on Snyder but I needed my nails done soon for me and my sisters and they were available so we went here and for a refill I was charged $40, then I have naturally long nails so I just get overlay on top to protect them and they still charged me for length and shape and my nails were already shaped they just needed to be filed. After a week my nails broke which mad me very angry because my nails never break. Also I always get gel French tip on my toes and it usually lasts a month I went here and a week later the white tip fell off my toe nail. The worse! And I. Total I paid $100 for my toes and a refill on my nails. read more

Prejudice. I'm black. Went in for a pedicure. They immediately say to me "wash your hands". I repeated to make certain I heard correctly. She said sternly again "yes wash your hands". I'm having a pedicure but I comply and wash my hands. Fast forward thirty minutes I'm drying my toes. A white woman comes in and she asks with all smiles what re you getting done? The woman tells the tech and she tells her to go and have a seat. 54 yes old and fed up with this kind of treatment I finally speak up. I ask the Asian nail tech in privacy why she had me wash my hands. She said "it's what we do to every customer." I say to her "you didnt tell your last customer" as i reference the customer. She smiles, laughed uncomfortably and said "oh it must have slipped my mind." I will never return. They were rude. I will never spend my money where I am not welcome. I still tipped too. I'm too kind and sometimes I wish I wasn't. read more

very unhappy with my experience here. my nails are different lengths and shapes. the nail tech noticed her mistake with my thumb nails and tried to correct it only to do it again. my left thumb is obviously shorter than the right. I paid 75 dollars for a full set and pedicure to only have to pay for my nails to be done some place else. oh and she glued part of her gloves to both my thumbs and and then used her nail file to try to get it off. the glue burned and the file hurt. This place was awful. My partner and I usually go to Nail Bar for our pedicures, but since it was the weekend and South Philly Nails is closer to our house, we thought we'd give it a try. WORST DECISION EVER. Even though our pedicures were started at the same time, I was done 15 minutes earlier due to the technician who barely spent time scrubbing my feet. Then, the technician working on my partner's toes stuck something so deep into her big toenail she screamed, "Ouch!" and began to bleed. The technician was not apologetic at all, making the situation worse. Fast forward one month later and my partner has a huge hole in the middle of her big toenail where she was stabbed by the technician making the toenail break off. And my toes? Six toenails kept breaking off down to the cuticle. We had to go to the doctor and get antibiotics. Save your toes and just don't do it. read more

OK, I don't like South Philly nail salons. They are usually crowded or dirty or tacky or overrrun by high school kids or some combination of the above. This one is exceptionally clean, the lady who does the eyebrows is super nice, and her work is commendable. My only complaint is that the wait can be a bit much. It's relative, I know, but I hate waiting 20 minutes for something that's only gonna take 10 to complete. lol That being said, I cannot yet comment on the quality of manis and pedis cuz I don't generally waste money on manis since my nails are paper thin and polish only lasts me one day, tops, and I do my own pedis in winter... I will update this when it's professional pedi weather, i.e. warm enough for me to show my tootsies. :) read more

Came here because I was running late and wouldn't be able to make it to work if I went to my usual salon in Center City. It was 3PM on a weekday and it was pretty busy but we didn't have to wait long. Everything went well and my nail tech was young and so kind, making sure I was well taken cared of. She proceeds to do my gel nails and unlike my normal salon, does not allow the gel to sit under the light once she is done painting the opposite side; when the light would turn off, she'd immediately switch hands which does not allow the polish to sit, because the light makes it last longer, obviously. They looked fine and I paid but after I had left and was in the car, I glance at my nail and it had practically melted off! I was so upset, because the whole reason of getting my nails done was for the next night's event. Throughout the night, some other nails proceeded to fall off and I knew this couldn't have been my fault because this had never happened to me before and you could see that the first layer of gel was not well dried and was too weak to hold the rest of the polish (my guess). I went back the next day, and explained my situation and they redid my nails for no fee and there was a big difference in the nail tech (different one) than the day before. Although it could have been a mistake, I don't think i'll be heading back here again unless it's as urgent as the situation I had that day. Unfortunately wasn't able to get any of the nail tech's names either. read more

Just got a gel manicure. I'm not sure how long it will last since they did not let it properly set between coats. They also caused me to bleed during the manicure and didn't offer a discount (I would not expect it to be free but...). I didn't see their sterilizing machines, so I hope they have correct procedures in place. I'll keep it medicated and hope for the best. They also asked if I needed my brows done as I was paying. I am so sad that I can't give this place ZERO stars. I went for a mani and pedi two days ago, chose my color, got the service done, and waited at the place nearly 40 minutes for the color to dry. The technician had put nail polish remover about four times in the old and thick nail polish, which had a terrible effect on my nails because well THEY NEVER DRIED. Needless to say that I called the next day, was told by the owner that I could get a complementary change in color. I went in today and was told by an extremely disrespectful technician that not only would she charge me for what she admitted was due to their "old and thick" polish, but that "ugly" customers like me bring "bad luck". I feel like the woman was just being really bitter and racist, and I gave never felt so disrespected in my life by people at a nail place. Last and final pedi: technician not paying attention and scrubbed right through to the bone on my foot. She barely apologized and then had the nerve to ask for the $25. Let me explain something, Molly is one of the long-time people that works there. She has a large clientele and is deemed one of the best technicians there. My encounter with her was not good. She was rude. Maybe she was just having a bad day but, her attitude was uncalled for. I got a pedicure and a gel manicure. The gel manicure lasted all of 2 days. It looked 2 weeks old. Chipped up cuticles. I was done. I was in another area of the city.5th Olney ave.at Apple nails decided to get my 2 day manicure redone. Looks great still, after 4 days. Just got my nails done at Nancy Le Nails on 40th street. Well like I mention in the post. your nails with be perfect or a mess if they are crowded. Well needless to say I got the crappy end of the stick. My nails were thick and the paint was sloppy but after seating there for almost two hours I just was ready to go. Well I dont visit South Philly often but I was down there to run some errands and I came across this place. I went inside it was so clean and not crownded I was greeted by a polite young lady. I told her I needed my nails fixed and a polish change. She took me to a station ask did I need anything. She introduce me to the nail techinican and told me she would be with me in a moment. The lady that serviced me her name was Vicky. She was polite made small talk and my ugly nails was so pretty again. This is the best american manicure I have ever had. I think I would be visiting this shop more often and giving Nancy Le Nails a rest. read more
